At that time, he had never thought that there would be a day where Cheng Feichi would soar into the sky, without glancing back. He was left alone wandering in the small pond, reluctant to leave it.

If you like melodrama and kind of dog blood story then it's for you. There's a lot of fluff but the kind that feels like cotton candy with needles. Bittersweetstory with happy ending. The story is greatly written and very moving ah. Sending blades to author for making reader cry. Waiting for the other shoe to drop is.. Ah, still when it happened.

This is a story about two people who makes mistakes, about forgiveness and growth, and Second chances.

MC is a willful, daring, careless baby. Very youthful and innocent, hence... more>> his growth is painful.

MC is cold tempered and intelligent with complex part.

Sigh I don't have anything to say rather than just read it. Ofc it's not perfect novel but it's rly great.

Prepare a lot of tissues lol <<less

This is one of those bittersweet coming-of-age romances that makes your heart hurt and personally, left me with a lot of thoughts.

Story is very very well-written not just in terms of plot but also language as well. It is one of those books that would be very well-worth to read in the original language but alas. It may seem rather cliche since it centres around the classic poor x rich protagonists trope but author delivers on both the angst and fluff so well through the development of the two leads... more>> and their actions.

MC is by no means a perfect person. He's immature, hot-tempered, selfish, does things on a whim but I could never hate him. He's a sheltered rich kid who mixed with questionable company and, likes most kids, just want to fit in with a group. Meanwhile, ML is everything but that. On the surface, he's the typical aloof love interest but luckily a lot of depth is given to his character. He has many inner concerns, hesitations and restraints but only when he's made up his mind to take responsibility, to protect MC and also their relationship not just in the present but as well as in the long-term, that he dates MC.

ML's hidden struggles and sacrifices due to his love for MC in contrast to MC's carefreeness (or carelessness?) are well-portrayed by the author and that's really what makes the angst in this novel so painful yet feel so good. But that's still the tip of the iceberg as MC will also soon have his share of struggles and misery.

Overall, a very worthwhile novel to read. And the other reviewer was right, prepare some tissues lol <<less

My favorite novel from yu cheng!

Falling down the pond is like dark chocolate, sweet, but has a bitter linger.

It’s the tale of two youth’s who fall in love, who hurt each other, and yet in the end still manage to mend the broken pieces, fix each other’s hearts and love again once more. At it’s core, it is about growth, forgiveness, and love.

It’s a beautiful coming of age story with endearing characters who go through many ups and downs. The ML is such a sweet yet cold and complex character.... more>> He works hard to provide for his mother and himself and is ready to sacrifice anything for his loved ones. The struggles and hardships he experiences does not wear him down, instead, only ignites him to work even harder, wanting to build a future for him and MC, however, things don’t always go as planned.

Contrarily, MC is very naive, willful, and much more free. He is everything the ML is not. He does not experience the hardship and struggles the ML goes through and does things without much care. He is a very sweet and cute person, however, very sheltered and lives an extremely different life than ML. However, the struggle he faces once his family falls into tragedy is heartbreaking to read. The once radiant, confident youth is worn down by reality and turns into a timid and meek young man.

Like many of the other reviewers said, prepare your tissues. The journey towards the happy ending is not smooth, however, just like how dark chocolate can be bitter, there will always be sweetness as well. In the end, they are a very happy and loving couple who support each other to the fullest.

A must read in my books! The other works by the author are also very good so check them out! <<less

I love second chance stories. This is one of them.

The reason ML and MC got separated was completely MC's fault. Because this was the "I don't like him but I'm going to make him fall in love with me" kind of story.

#Coming of Age. Second chance. Modern day. Page turner.
