Zhen Yuanbai, the good student, accidentally injured Shi Bufan, the school bully, after a crash. Blood spilled everywhere.

After the ambulance took Shi Bufan to the hospital, Zhen Yuanbai walked home, trembling in fear. He pleads for his parents to transfer him to another school. As expected, his parents rejected his request.

Zhen Yuanbai has no choice but to brace himself to go and apologize to Shi Bufan. Hopefully, he will show mercy while giving him a beating.

Who knew —

Shi Bufan had amnesia.

Zhen Yuanbai couldn’t control his happiness. You really don’t know me? I’m your friend. After he lied and claimed to be Shi Bufan’s friend, Zhen Yuanbai quickly realized that he looked at himself strangely.

Until one day, Shi Bufan pushed him against the wall. He pecked his bewildered face and lowly chuckled. What friends? I knew that you like me and used this opportunity to get close to me… Be good. I’ll give you a chance. Call me hubby.

Zhen Yuanbai was speechless.

Wake up!

Don’t mention that I like you as a friend when I was the one who caused you the injury!

Submissive: Because he, a well-behaved and timid good student, was scared of being beaten up, he lied to the school bully. Confusedly, he ended up in a relationship with Shi Bufan.

Dominant: After losing his memory, he ended up fake dating Zhen Yuanbai, thinking that the latter was in love with him.

First of all, I have to say that I have seen scary cats and read about them, but MC took being a coward to a whole new level. Because of that, The story became really funny, and it caused a lot of misunderstandings.

It's a bad student-good student relationship story, but both MC and ML have interesting traits. So the story isn't typical or boring. MC is good at learning but has strange logic. Maybe because he lacks social interaction, isn't experienced, and is also a coward, his interaction with ML... more>> is hilarious. ML is a bully with bad grades and is very bad at expressing his feelings. Both of them are bad and awkward while interacting, and because of that, the couple in this story is peculiar. Yet, at the end of the day, they are both lovely.

Generally, the story wasn't bad; it's light reading without dog blood, the plot isn't complicated, the whole story revolves around the MC and ML relationship, and there isn't any unnecessary drama. Side characters are good too, but I have to say I hate the ML family; there is something really wrong with every single one of them.

Usually, I don't like stories with misunderstandings, but this one was an exception. It wasn't bad, mainly because ML wasn't s*upid, and while he misjudged some things, he was pretty sharp and figured things out quickly. Things weren't dragged out, and the pace of the story-telling was fast; there were some sad and some funny moments too. To sum up, it's worth reading. <<less

Short but very sweet, full of fluff.

Nice little read, enjoyed their relationship when it became mutual.

Also thank the loving friends and family. Even the gangsters are nice bunch.

This is cute but frustrating story but I still manage to finish it because I want to know how they resolve the problem

When you read this novel on the first half, ... more>>
Spoiler

notes that our MC is a crybaby and the ML is a bully, I too irritated that they seems to do the same thing but as you reach 20 -ish then you'll see the development

[collapse]

And keep it mind that this story is from a highschool student's perspective and feelings and I'm really amazed that the author could pull this off perfectly

The interaction may be awkward or childish but slowly, you'll see their progress to both their mindset and feelings towards one another as they grow up and be more mature

Even though this kind of novel quite tiring to deal with, I think you should give it a try, try to hang on with the plot and keep reading, it's worth it. <<less

To be honest, I was quite annoyed with the MC for most of the story as he kept on lying and running away from his problems, making the situation worse than necessary. On top of that he kept on playing with the ML's feelings, ignoring and avoiding him when he is mad and throwing the words "break-up" around at every opportunity. Granted, he did not intentionally play with the ML's feelings, but his intentions won't negate his actions.

As someone who dislikes lying and beating around the bush I felt... more>> aggravated at the MC's cowardly actions/personality. I still have no idea how he grew up with such a cowardly and soft personality. Sure, his dad was strict and controlling. But he was never beaten. So why does he always think that he will be beaten up whenever anyone even cast an unfriendly look at him? At least, he saw some character development and learned to be more confident later on, still a crybaby though.

As for the ML... While he isn't necessarily a bad guy, I don't particularly like his behavior either. He basically threatened/coerced the MC into a relationship, not letting the other break up. But at least, he never hit the MC and actually treated the MC quite well, too well sometimes imo. He kept on bending backwards for the MC to an extent that I almost felt pity for him. As for his delinquent past/behavior, I won't fault him for that. He has his reasons which are actually reasonable. I just didn't like how he threatened the MC with physical harm every now and then even if he didn't mean it.

Their relationship development had me thinking that the MC had developed Stockholm syndrome. And I am not a fan of Stockholm syndrome relationship novels. The only upside to this is that the ML isn't a scumbag nor that much of a douchebag. I have read about worse MLs. <<less

Okay, clearly they are high schoolers so I can't say much besides the fact that this story is a fluffy, lighthearted read. You don't need to use your brain at all.

  • MC is a crybaby. How much of a crybaby? If you've watched sailor moon, then MC is even worse than her. He cries at every feeling except when he's feeling joy.
  • ML is a typical bad boy. He likes making MC cry to the point that I think he's sadistic. He's also a pe*vert. They don't show it, but it's implied. Thankfully he's the ML or else... he would have been a massive red flag.
Overall, I don't mind the bad points of the story. It was fun to read it.

I didn't going in with the bratty and haughty expectations that everything must comply with my ~~enlightened western bubble worldview projections like the rest of the reviews in this comment section, so I really loved this novel.

I'd rather read poor communication that slowly gets resolved between family and crushes than repeated plots any day.

This was really sweet. The slow unfolding of ML's longstanding crush was moving, the way he struggled between being conned and finally having the chance to love a dream was really sweet.

As the characters are high schoolers,... more>> I wasn't expecting them to act like mature adults, so I'm not put down by the discovery that they're dumbasses and jerks to each other and have poor emotional regulation. Don't read a coming of age then, lol.

And this is a coming of age story. The MC and ML not only develop a more sincere appreciation of each other, they also gradually start to see the little ways in which their parents try to express care about them, and because less insecure people.

It was really gratifying to see the way the mothers talk about each other too. No spoilers, but I think it indicates a maturity on the part of the author to respect the choices both of them made. Definitely appreciated the frank discussion on expectations of childrearing, and how family support vs pressure can affect a young patent.

There were no villains in this novel, no bad guys, no dog blood plot or face slapping (despite the suggestion implied early on). It's just a character piece, about the insecurity and worry every character has about each other. There's no designated bad guys either. Just people who struggle with how to express their emotions but manage to achieve harmony through their embarrassedly gritted teeth.

The rest of you must not have gone to a high school full of problems children with anger issues. We're still people too. And it really does get so much easier once you grow up and stop feeling like every teenage emotion is the end of the. World. MC and ML end the story able to see the greater world and people around them beyond their insecurities. It was really nice to read and I expect I'll be back to do so again in the future.

Even though I hate passive shou, I don't hate this little guy at all. I think he doesn't realize how much energy and emotion he has inside until quite a while in. He may be a good test taker but his mind shuts down in social situations, and honestly that's relatable. It does make him a target of bullying and that in turn makes him more defensive and timid. <<less

This novel is so cute I really recommend it if you want a light and fluff novel. What I really love about this novel is the development of the characters even though their love is a little childish and the MC is a little dumb at the they still get wat they deserve. At the first part you might find the MC quiet annoying because he was coward but as he get along with the ML he learned many things and also the ML's character improvem a lot. It's really... more>> worth reading 💖💖 I'm rating it 10/5 🤩😍 <<less

I really didn’t expect this to be such a good novel! At first I thought it was kind of cliche, I mean, the title basically screams cliche. But the story is funny, interesting, and has plenty of romance.

I thought the characters would be one-dimensional but they’re not at all. Zhen Yuanbai is described as weak and a coward but what is one of the first things he does after seriously injuring a fellow student and giving him amnesia? He lies to him about the injury and says he’s actually a... more>> good friend! Holy cow, you need real guts to pull this off, and he not only sticks with his lie but basically adds on to it. He’s definitely a book-smart person and isn’t too street wise, but he definitely isn’t s*upid or just a pushover. It’s super funny watching him deal with the mess he got himself into. I love him a lot.

I also love Shi Bufan because he’s the same, you’d think he was a real bully but inside he’s made of cotton-candy, towards Zhen Yuanbai he’s all bark and no bite, or rather he’d easily roll over and show his belly because he’s really in puppy love. I usually don’t go for mean characters but Shi Bufan isn’t really mean at all, when Zhen Yuanbai pushes his buttons he’ll retaliate in a way I can see myself doing. He’s very human, he’s headstrong and willful but isn’t very good with delicate and nuanced situations, he’s a regular high school kid that isn’t very good expressing his emotions, but for Zhen Yuanbai he’ll do his best to try. And boy, does he try. I loved watching him grow up in their relationship, he’s very lovable.

This was a wonderful and enjoyable story, seeing these two go from fake-dating to real and true love was definitely worth it. Watching them grow up at the same time also added on a sweet layer that made the whole thing feel like I don’t want it to end, I want it to keep going! They still could have many more sweet experiences, don’t end it here! Although I have to admit the ending was actually good enough for me, I’m just greedy for more!

Overall, I would say this is one of my top rated stories and I would absolutely love to read it again. <<less

What should I say about this novel...? While I love the whole idea of MC fake dating the ML to prevent getting a beatdown, this scenario just seems implausible.
Spoiler

What normal person hears that the person you almost accidentally killed has memory loss so you pretend to be that person's best friend? It's just not logical. There are so many things that can go wrong and of course MC halo prevents those many possibilities of shooting oneself in the foot become next to zilch. I mean you can either come clean it take the damn secret to the grave. Why do something as s*upid as pretending to be close to the ML as if nothing could possibly go wrong? Then again, we wouldn't have this novel.
Did I mention the MC is a white lotus crybaby who is a complete coward with no logic and no ability other than to study and get good grades... no. I was wrong. The MC does have one other ability. It's the ability to solving everything with his tears. Literally. While I understand that bullying is a BIG NO NO, the MC literally almost killed someone and tried to hide that fact. I guess it's understandable that he's a complete coward. But even after all that misunderstanding was resolved the little dipsh*t never apologized! The ML is also a dumbass. The MC is obviously deathly afraid of him so why does he continue to do all that dumb crap that further makes the MC misunderstand?
The dumbest thing of all is the author tries to tell the readers that the MC is slowly liking the ML and all of a sudden the author makes it seem as if the MC never liked him at all as if the last few chapters never existed. Whether the MC was just having trouble sorting his emotions, the author went about it in the most confusing way. Oh, there were the birthday scenes which confused me to no end. Did I perhaps read it wrong? The MC celebrated the ml's birthday in an embarrassingly patriotic way even going so far as to wait until midnight of his birthday to tell him happy birthday but why is it that a few chapters later, the ML comes back with a cake and goes, 'today is my birthday so I made a cake for you.'
Like... huh? Wasn't the ml's birthday days ago? Then there was the mention of the MC being a few months older than ML but after celebrating the ml's birthday it's suddenly the mc's birthday? HUH?? when did a whole year pass?!
Sigh... even until the end, I still didn't like the MC very much. Or maybe I just dislike this type of mc? Despite my complaints, I continued on just to appease my curiosity of what happened once the lies upon lies was shred to pieces and even then it was anticlimactic. I don't quite understand why the extras were extras either. If the author hadn't written the extras, I would've thrown a table because after all that, the ending was kind of just thrown in your face. I legit went 'HUH?' Where are these two extra chapters when I realized that the ending was the extra.
SIGH... despite all this ranting, I can't hate the s*upid novel either because it's so s*upid that it's so interesting. Maybe deep down I do like this s*upid kind of anticlimactic storyline that I got to the end and still wanted more. I recommend this... no, I don't recommend this. I hate myself. Feel free to hate me and my review too. SIGH...

if u wanna enjoy this good, just take everything imperfect and weird thing as grain of salt

there's some imbalance between main characters and that's suck for entire book. I dropped this once and read it when it complete, yet it still suck

MC is too timid and his way of thinking is just absurd. I also don't like MC's family at first from MC's view, but ends up okay at the end? idk but ig it's author's way portraying them is just... weird, like very distant but at the same time... more>> not...

ML also err arrogant bully but a bit masochist?

that thing about adult life at the end also suck, no development in character at all... <<less

The premise hooked me. There's just something that compels me to read about s*upid cuties making s*upid decisions. For our MC, his mistake is using his brain to formulate a disastrous situation. If you want to stay away from someone, don't pretend to be his bestie after he gets amnesia lmao

Overall, an entertaining read. I would say a 3.5 rather than a 4/5 but I tend to be generous with my ratings. The power balance is sometimes skewed, but it wasn't a glaring issue. The ML isn't particularly my favorite... more>> either. I like the whole "guys teasing their crushes" but bro could've done something way better. <<less

Let him cry. After all, sooner or later, he’ll make me cry.

This book is soooo cute, I had so much fun reading it, I honestly didn't like the MC, he was a spineless coward who would had no guilty feeling whatsoever (at the beginning/middle) after he lied and manipulated the Mal's feelings

But it was a good read, no dramatic ups and downs, enough fluff while still keeping it mostly real

Although the progress was kinda slow

I honestly loved this very much and the way that the story unfolds. Being on the edge of my seat as ZY was trying not to trip over himself or got SB to rember him or even beat him up.

Its fluffy and really funny its a breather from all dark plots and revenge centered novels, it's quite refreshing. Thank you translators for translating the novel u did a beautiful job.

Not gonna lie this inspired me to want to study more and to have a love like this, its just so... more>> cute. Definitely worth reading and ur time, a full 5 stars. <<less

This is clearly shounen ai. There was no mention of any scenes even in the 2 extras, lol. The story was pretty sweet and cute, but I think after chapter 40, the romance just drags on, until it was concluded pretty nicely after chapter 60. 2nd extra lacks more sweetness though.

MC has good personality, but I didn't like how he lied to the ML and didn't apologized for it till the confrontation. I just sometimes feel bad for the ML that he's always the one who need to coax the... more>> MC every single time because MC is a total crybaby.

I quite like this novel in the beginning to the middle part. It was really funny, and you just want to have the MC beaten up to solve all his worries, lol. I wish they did marry more early but I guess returning the money that the brother received is kind of the funny part. Also wished that there's a scene. <<less

I think it was a cute story, but sometimes a little bit childish. The main couple was having a weird dynamic, but it was okay after getting used to it. It took me a long time to be comfotable with MC's family. I think I didn't like them in the beginning, because we only saw them from MC's point of view and he thought everyone is only looking for ways to bully him. I think I might be a little bit too old for the story, because I was questioning... more>> myself if this is how life is, but I think it's a good read if you have a day to spend and it's already finished with the usual quality of Chrysanthemum Garden's translations. The story is flawed, but still enjoyable. <<less
