In his previous life, when Ye Chaoran was 16 years old, he was suddenly visited by a rich man who told him he was the young master of the Fang family who lived in a different city.

Little did he know that the purpose of his biological parents was just to find a heart for his brother who had a heart disease.

The parents who he tried to please: “When the operation is successful, we’ll directly announce that he suddenly died.”

The older brother he wanted to be close to: “Don’t appear in front of me. Disgusting.”

Even the man Ye Chaoran cared about most only regarded him as a substitute.

As for his beloved younger brother Fang Yan, Ye Chaoran thought he was the only one who was good to him. Until the last moment, when he showed his true face.

It turns out that all along, he’s only been ridiculed, rejected, and hated.

Then he was reborn.

Now, Ye Chaoran just wants to repay his adoptive parents, get revenge while he’s at it, and live his life well.

Ye Chaoran, who’d just been found, refused to leave with his biological parents. The Fang family tried everything, giving him houses and cars, then persuading, then coercing. Finally, they prepared to kidnap him by force.

But bodyguards in black descended from the sky and threw the garbage aside.

An old man showed up, looking calm and proud: “Who dares to touch anyone from my Ye family?”

Ye Chaoran was confused: “Who is this?”

The adoptive father looked sad: “My father.”

Only then did Ye Chaoran realize that his adoptive father turned out to be the richest man’s runaway son!

His family is countless times richer than the Fang family!

Hello! I'm the translator of this novel. I enjoyed it thoroughly, so I'd love it if others do too.

So, although the premise of Ye Chaoran's past life is a gritty one, this novel for the most part will not be anything of the sort.

Instead, what you'll find is deep familial love that transcends blood, a kind hearted protagonist that deserves the world, and a sickeningly sweet romance from two extremely silly, funny, and inexperienced high schoolers who have no idea what they're doing.

All in all, you're in for a very... more>> sweet ride! There is conflict, but it never drags on, and the evil people always ultimately get their due.

Spoiler

Even in the original timeline where MC died, none of them have good endings. But good luck reading about it without shedding a few tears.

As for the rest, I think I'll let you all discover for yourselves. I hope you'll enjoy it just as much as I did! <<less

Personally, I found this novel rather generic and bland. There's no real depth to either characters or plot and everyone comes off as one-note.

The villains, MC's biological family, are the most boring evil family members who don't understand what they're doing is wrong and think the whole world revolves around their baby Yanyan (MC's evil white lotus twin). Characters like these would be fine in a more entertaining ridiculous novel or a short world in a quick transmigration novel where depth is sacrificed for pacing or entertainment.

In a longer novel... more>> like this, they just come across as mustache twirling cartoon characters where they're so evil to the point of comic. (MC's dirty little paws touched my tea set throw the whole tea set away! Ewww)

MC himself isn't much more interesting. He's the reborn protag who knowing the true faces of these comically evil biological family members, repels them and sticks to his adopted family but as with everything else, he comes across a little bland.

There's a certain level of immaturity in the writing of this novel. Things like random crowd npcs changing their mind based on one cool comeback from protag or their gang. Granted that's not uncommon but it doesn't help the flatness of this novel.

If this is your initial foray into rebirth/better life novels, it could serve as a serviceable read but otherwise, I suggest a skip. <<less

This was such a heartwarming novel, especially given the premise. MC's first life was truly miserable after he returned to his biological family, but his goal after rebirth wasn't really to get revenge but rather to live a good life with the new chance he was given. His biological family just couldn't let him go though, so revenge does get served after all. Author definitely improved her writing since her other novels, and the plot is very well planned!

The hypocritical behavior of the biological parents really made my blood boil... more>> like I don't think I've ever hated characters more. They talk about MC's adoptive parents being bad people and MC not treating them well as his biological parents, when they're literally planning to sacrifice MC to save his brother. Actually horrible people, and the lack of self awareness makes it that much worse. Twin brother can also rot in hell for all I care. The older brother does have redeeming qualities, as he's also a victim of the shitty family, but it is too little too late at this point for the MC.

Adoptive parents are the sweetest and they definitely make up for the homicidal urges that the other parents give me. They have a great relationship with each other, and love MC dearly. About MC's coming out:
Spoiler

MC has one of the most chill coming out scenes I've ever read, and his parents are so supportive they're basically already building a ship for their son and ML before the two have even gotten together. Grandparents are also accepting which I found surprising given how they were originally opposed to their son's marriage- I guess social class trumps gender?? Also apparently this is a world where gay marriage is legal so we do love that.

Something I find pretty refreshing with this novel is that ML is also a high schooler and not some 26 year old CEO like a lot of other rebirth novels. Their relationship begins with the classic mistaken love letter trope, which I personally love both for the misunderstanding trope and for the embarrassment that will undoubtedly come to ML when he finally realizes he misinterpreted everything. His brain hole really is funny though, he's half "I must stop being so friendly or he'll fall deeper for me!" and half "It's a bit nice being liked by such a handsome boy, falling in love isn't so bad" haha

The romance is very cute, but it's definitely the most high school type romance I have ever read. They're both pretty shy (so much blushing omg) and new to being in love, and physical intimacy wise:
Spoiler

they don't even kiss in the main text.

Usually couples get together after confirming feelings, but this ML is hilarious saying at his 18th birthday that it's illegal for adults to date minors so he has to wait for the 17 year old MC to also turn 18 even though they both clearly like each other at this point and both their parents think they're already dating. Also apparently they aren't allowed to date in school...?

MC's biological family goes down in flames by the end and it's quite satisfying, since their downfall is mostly self-inflicted as well. Other characters that start sh*t also get their due. Moral of this story, karma's a b*tch. I'll admit, I cried in the extras
Spoiler

with the continuation of the past timeline after MC's death, just thinking about ML and how he never got the chance to get to know and fall for MC before his death, and also for the grandfather who never got the chance to reconcile with his son or properly cherish his grandson. Actually heartbreaking.

As said in the summary, MC was reborn after getting killed by his biological family, Fang. He was abandoned as a baby but the Fang family came to find him and tried to take him back to cut out his heart and replace it with his sickly twin. Everyone in the family is rotten to the core including the twin.

MC's adoptive dad turned out to be the son of the Ye family who are richer and more powerful than the Fang family. ML's family is also on par with the... more>> Ye family. So they were a lot of help in protecting MC from the Fang family. It's more reasonable as MC was still a powerless teenager and he couldn't actually do much to the Fang family. Most of the face-slapping was done by his adoptive grandparents and ML.

ML was cute. At first you'd think he's a typical smart, proud, confident young master. He is but he's also really shy. He thought MC was in love with him and was gonna let him down gently later. Then he found out he misunderstood and he was so embarrassed. He started crushing on MC first. MC developed feelings later. But they were both super shy. Their families were super supportive of their relationship. <<less
