Xia Yu pursued Lu Zhao for three years, sharing the same bed, close and intimate, their lives intertwined, but he couldn’t even be considered a boyfriend.

He knew it too.

He considered it as his foolish and delusional infatuation, failing to understand his own place. So, he decided to tidy up his life and marry the arranged marriage partner chosen by his family. He made it clear to his husband that this was just a fake marriage, a mutually beneficial arrangement meant to last forever.

However, not long after their marriage, Lu Zhao returned. He handed over evidence of Xia Yu’s husband’s affair to him in a coffee shop. In the photo, his quiet and gentle husband was being pinned against the wall by a young and handsome man, passionately kissing him.

Xia Yu: “……?”

He didn’t even have time to reflect on the past situation between him and Lu Zhao. He couldn’t wait a second longer; he just wanted to leave!

Lu Zhao initially thought that if Xia Yu discovered the affair, they would definitely divorce. He believed that he could once again pursue Xia Yu, this time, he would willingly submit to him. However, the youth who had flirted with him three years ago, asking for a kiss, now looked at him with a sly and cold expression, like a cunning fox.

Lu Zhao, it’s impossible for me to divorce my husband,” Xia Yu’s fingers gently stroked his Adam’s apple. “But I am still in need of a lover. Are you interested?”

Be my lover, the kind that can’t be seen in the light.

It was decent. I felt like reading a wife-chasing crematorium-esque story, and this scratched the itch.
Spoiler

MC and his husband were in a loveless marriage, but on very good terms with each other, so they both acquired lovers on the side. ML was a bit scummy in the past, but not to a level that would be too unforgivable. It was more about being stubborn and not understanding his own feelings, and thus acting like an a**hole. Side story extras of the MC's former husband and his lover was decent too.

Personally, as a person who enjoys dog blood, wife-chasing crematorium story, I enjoyed it. It has got a good development with harmonised personalities and character development, to be more exact, they do feel like mature adults while still having their inner pettiness in the inside just like normal real people and their actions felt reasonable. Although it is neither life-changing nor painfully memorable with intense abuse or extreme grieving, it was a good slow pace for those who enjoys a devoted cold gong who had done regretful things in the... more>> past.

For now, I have a favourable opinion of the story, but things may change.

Update: It was a great read. The ML's development was great, everyone all acted realistic reasonable, the pace was also just right. <<less

This novel is criminally underrated!! Hands down one of my favorites in the crematorium type genre, with every element executed pretty much perfectly.

It's surprisingly hilarious, and I found myself literally laughing out loud multiple times, whether it be from ML's antics or MC's convoluted thoughts. The two of them are really sweet together, ignoring the whole extramarital affair business, but even then the whole situation is just funny, especially with how MC and his husband interact.

The ML in this novel honestly didn't treat MC all that badly in the past,... more>> so it wasn't hard to forgive him. He does go through your standard wife chasing regret arc though, and it's very satisfying to watch. MC doesn't lead him on either, and their relationship grows quite naturally. There's no unnecessary drama, and MC stays pretty true to his heart the entire novel.

A problem I often have with wife chasing novels is feeling like the MC just doesn't like the ML as much after they get back together in the present day, but rest assured, this novel does a fantastic job at conveying just how much the two of them are mutually in love by the end. Definitely recommend for anyone looking for a wholesome and satisfying crematorium novel!

Spoiler

Also not me dying laughing over MC's groomsmen for his wedding to ML being his ex husband and his friend who's secretly in love with him?! This author makes the most hilarious situations like I actually can't deal. MC and his husband both being 0s had me in tears too like the references throughout this novel to the mismatch were so subtly hilarious.

I'll be honest I didn't have much interest in the side couple in the extras, skipped over it after a few chapters. Glad the author decided to separate their story from the main couple! <<less

I found the novel because I read After I Flopped on My Crush, a Shared Universe. I enjoyed that novel, tried finding something from the same author, and got here.

Now for the review. I love it. For those who enjoy the wife chasing crematorium, it's a must-read. It hits you like no other.

I find it fascinating how life-like the characters are, and how you can feel the pain of both the MC and ML. I guess it was relatable because of the little immaturity they both have that you can... more>> see with real-life people.

Not going to do any spoilers (coz I'm not sure how this thing works anyway haha) but it's a recommended read. A definite satisfaction for your crematorium cravings without any excessive drama or abuse. <<less

I quite enjoyed this and read it all in one sitting. It is a wife-chasing crematorium that doesn't go over the top both in angst and resolution, making it feel more evenly paced. You don't get unredeemable MLs who torture the MCs because of some tragic backstory, only to be irrevocably forgiven at the drop of a hat after debasing themselves for the sake of selling pity. The cause of misunderstandings are more believable. I quite like that the MCs also acknowledged other considerations apart from loving the ML, it... more>> felt more level-headed than most crematoriums wherein the MC throws caution in the wind after acknowledging lingering feelings for the ML. The reconciliations are gradual and both parties actively participate in it, you don't get a sense of MCs getting coerced or getting back into the relationship due to a suspension-bridge effect or naivete.

However, you still get familiar guilty pleasure tropes that are tried and tested in crematorium reads, you still get groveling, good monologues about regret, jealousy and possessiveness, MCs dropping some painful lines/unveiling the truth sending the MLs to the hospital (lmao) and eventual scum-gong-to-henpecked-doting-husband-pipieline. <<less

Quite cliché, easy to predict plot. I jumped right into the secondary couple expecting something more interesting after getting bored with the first several chapters, but the whole thing was just predictable. The translation was great tho
