Writing: 3/5, Story: 4/5 until 70-80 chapters in and became 1.5/5...

I was so close to finishing this but I couldn't do it. The writing is okay and the story was decent enough until I had to stop in the 80s, which I explain in the spoiler bellow. This story was definitely the wife chasing I was looking for, which I'm happy with,

until the baby trapping. I just couldn't. I really really couldn't. The rapist trapping the victim with a child just made me leave. Their relationship was kind of f*cked from the start but I really couldn't handle it. I could bear with the r*pe victim becoming lover but not the baby trapping.

[collapse]

although this is a personal preference, this tanked my rating of the novel.

Anyways, this is definitely not everyone's cup of tea, especially since this ML felt especially entitled and annoying. He definitely hasn't grown up yet.... and the 2nd ML also wasn't enjoyable

Spoiler

because he really thought that it would be so easy for the MC to be a big boy and leave the ML. Uh, that's not how it works. And he had the NERVE to be disappointed when the MC didn't. Shut up please. I know he didn't know the whole story but it's not easy to leave your ab*ser despite what many think (if you're homeless just buy a house mentality), especially when you've been brainwashed into thinking that you love them. Bro the MC just wanted to make money but the ML thought MC was so obsessed with him.... ick.

What the translator said is something you need to read in fine print before you delve into this story. If you don't like it, look away. If you are looking for fluff, LEAVE. This story is a dog blood story 100%. More than I expected. The ML is a fkin a**hole. And the MC is so damn pitiful, you question why the fk is this even happening to him.

But I believe the author did a great job of telling a story. The character's personalities and actions are hard to digest. But I believe this ugliness needs to be seen/read. It's human nature. I'll be honest, I read only a handful of dogblood drama novellas but haha this one, this one, is something else entirely. I really questioned how the author would be able to wrap up such a messed/fked up situation. But they somehow did it.

Honestly, fk the ML's dad. He can eat sht. Reason why ML is so fked up is because of that bastard. Sometimes I'm just like why the heck is the ML acts like this, and I can only point my finger to the culprit, his crappy manipulative power hungry father.

here is the gist of why I think the author somehow did it:

Spoiler

it's hard to explain in simple words. Lin Yan has lived life struggling. He didn't question why he suffers nor does he even blame anyone for it. But fate decided to give him the guy who he would loathe, pity, and finally love. He finally understand what suffering really is when he is with Lu Zhuming.

He came to the decision to be with Lu Zhuming because there was really no one out there willing to put him first in their heart. Lu Zhuming would always put Lin Yan first in any situation. He would go against his father, give up his acting career, and go to the most extremes to keep Lin Yan. Furthermore, no one is able make him have feelings of hatred and despair. No one is able to make Lin Yan feel like he couldn't live anymore. It's pretty f*cked up, I know. But Lin Yan decided, 'why not?' It is not like anyone gives a sh*t about what he does except Lu Zhuming. Only Lu Zhuming. So why live life questioning why they should be together or not? Who is qualified to tell him if he should or shouldn't be with Lu Zhuming? Only he, Lin Yan can.

Thus, they are back together. And honestly I can't say I hate nor like what happen. At the same time, I think they are suited for each other. They are so broken that they have found a way to glue their broken selves together to become whole again.

[collapse]

again, this story is told for pure entertainment, and the characters are flawed beyond belief. But that's what I found great about it.

This book definitely deserves more than just a quick glance.

Lu Lianning acts like a spoiled princess. For example: he demands his bodyguards to lay a carpet on the ground to walk on so his feet don’t get dirty from the mud. He craves attention but has no concept of what a healthy relationship looks like. His emotional intelligence is severely lacking, a result of a difficult upbringing and an awful father.

At the start, Li Yan is only with Lu Lianning for the money because he needs it to pay off... more>> debts. But Lu Lianning misinterprets his actions as affection. When he eventually discovers the truth, he feels deeply betrayed. Lu Lianning falls in love first (even if he doesn't fully understand it), but his way of showing it is... a bit off.

This novel isn’t just about “ab*se” or “glorifying toxic relationships.” It’s a deeper exploration of a toxic cycle, where both characters are trapped in their emotional struggles. It’s messy, but that’s what makes it so compelling. Love isn’t always neat or straightforward. This book shows love in its raw, dysfunctional form. For a dog blood novel, I actually found the emotions and conflicts to be surprisingly "realistic." It may be chaotic, but it felt true to the messy side of relationships. <<less

I saw the rant review and wanted to share my thoughts. The “refrain from leaving comments” the author mentions is something you often see in Chinese web novels. Comments can be really brutal, and let's be honest—if you're an author and you see readers saying things like "this story is so sh*t that I want to stop reading, " that's not exactly motivating, right? It's not that people can't criticize the novel; it's more about not leaving such negative comments directly on the novel page. No one's saying you can't... more>> share your thoughts, just that you don't need to shove it in the author's face.

Anyway, this novel isn’t for everyone, but I love it as I'm a fan of "dog blood." <<less

After seeing so many beautiful fan arts, I got curious and decided to check out what this story is about. And... wow. The author was truly talented to have written such a story. I really like these types of stories. I won't say too much, just that I really enjoyed it. It reminded me of a Korean novel I read before, but compared to that one, this story wasn't as dark.

The only part I didn't like was when the main character tried to kill his child. While I understand the... more>> main character's pain, I still couldn't support that moment.

The part that actually made me cry was the very last chapter. I felt so empty and emotional. I always thought that the beggar didn't care about the main character, but to think he left everything for him—it was just so sad.

Anyway, it was a beautiful novel. I'll try to find more stories like this. That said, I won't recommend it for anyone with a faint heart. <<less

Hey, this review contains spoilers hahaha. I'm too lazy to put it in a spoiler box, so please don't read this if you don't want to get spoiled too soon.

First of all, I never thought I would cry while reading this novel. And I know that some of people would think that Lanning is the bad villain here, but in my POV he is not. At first, I didn't feel like this novel had the tendency to make its readers sad. But when I reached Chapter 90, everything just piled... more>> up hahahaha. The realization of all the anger and emotions felt like they burst open in that chapter.

But The fact that even after having a child, Lan Yi still didn't love Lanning. The fact that Lanning was actually the biggest victim of Lan Yi's misfortunes. How Zhenrui, who knew nothing, still had to endure his own mother's hatred. And how Lanning, in complete desperation, kept begging for Lan Yi's love until the very end.

Lanning's tantrum when Lan Yi placed a ring on his late wife's grave, and how happy he was just asking what Lan Yi ate and did that day while he was sick in Lan Yi's house. Lanning even broke his gland to grant Lan Yi favor, because Lan Yi always told him to stop releaseing his pheromones. And all he could think about is Song Ruan, out of fvkn nowhere:)

wow, I felt so emotional, and my feelings just overflowed at that moment.

It hurts so much to see Lanning being the only one who fell in love from the start. He was right when he said that Lan Yi was the one who seduced him first. Even though it's not like Lan Yi did it without reason or out of pure malice, Lanning really lost so much in all of this.

Even until the end, he had to fight alone. I don't justify what he did to Lan Yi, but I can't help but feel what Lanning truly felt and I am sorry for him <<less

I actually read this only for the cover, my kitty looks kind of similar. This novel is so good, they just need to add some tags like #r*pe victim becomes lover, on my opinion its something important. I already mentioned this but it's a really good novel for an horror genre. The beginning was good and interesting but as the story advanced I couldn't like it at all, I tried to convince myself that maybe reading it through the end could make me understand the way the characters acted but... more>> it didn't happen, anyways if you like stories where ML is a serial rapist don't forget to check this out, if you don't like it you're already warned

Don't be like me and listen to the warnings, happy reading! :) <<less

It's been a while since I've read a Dead Dove: Do Not Eat kind of story, especially in danmei. For anyone expecting something mild discomfort, this story is not for you.

When it comes to showcasing the cycle of ab*se and how it deals psychological damage to all the parties involved, this is quite well-written. To me, the portrayals of the characters that went through both external and internal torture was accurate.
Spoiler

From the way Li Yan was forcefully beaten down, driven to the very edge, that he wanted disappear altogether, or the postpartum scene, or how Li Yan was helicoptered by Lu Lianning—it was scarily accurate.

[collapse]

I just wished we dove more into the despair both parties felt within. It's really interesting

I decided to take the risk and try reading this... but I regret it. Possible spoilers: I expected there would be ab*se and all that, but I didn’t think it would be this bad. The main character is completely trapped, he’s in a total mess, and it hurts to read knowing they’ll still end up together in the end.

I don’t know... I could’ve tolerated it because I like this kind of genre with toxic relationships, but not when the main character is this pathetic. Honestly, being in a situation like... more>> that and not even starting to think about death is surprising.

Since the translator warned that it’s dangerous to read, I won’t rate it, but I think a novel with this kind of plot doesn’t even deserve two stars. Maybe I made the wrong assumptions about where the story is going, but I expect the male lead will get jealous and make the main character pregnant, or somehow start acting softer, which will lead to Stockholm syndrome. In any case, nothing good is going to come out of this.

I think I stopped at the chapter where they’re just about to show the past. I just don’t want to keep reading or get attached to this novel, otherwise I’ll die of frustration. It’ll remain a mystery to me what the main character did to deserve putting up with all this, but my nerves are more important. <<less

Those beautiful fanarts drove me here.

First of all. This one is not everyone cup of tea.

I seriously have no words to express this story. I feel immersed in the story, which makes me finish it within two and a half days.

... more>> This kind of story is my trope akjnlfajkfjh

I like how the author switches from the present to the past before going back again.

The ML character was a real s*um who didn't know how to love, and I blame his parents and his circle of friends. Rich people are weird when it comes to raising their children, and the ML was one of the examples.

While the MC... the MC... he deserves the world TT_TT

Life was so cruel for an innocent, naive person like him. Fate is really playing so hard for him to endure such a mishap.

In the early chapters, it kinda looks like it will be a love triangle, but it's not.

It's 100% chasing wife crematorium where the ML is trying so hard to change, to be with the MC again.

The word that made me teary was "In Liu Lianning's worlds, there were only two, Li Yan and everyone else."

He is really putting the MC in the first place. It's just that the way his family raised him was a mess that made him grow up like that.

Both of them were poison to each other but also an antidote to each other.

But seriously. I need more. I need more chapters, and I need more Extras. T_T I feel like crying because I can't press next anymore. TT.

Also, to the translator. Thank you so much for picking up this story!

I enjoying it alot! <<less

I haven't used the spoiler boxes properly. Please bear with me...

I liked the book. But I will be honest and express what I felt through the whole story. I might be wrong here, but this is my point of view.

I feel that Lianning has not come out of his childhood phase yet. He demands attention, throws tantrums, has low emotional quotient, no care of feelings other than his own (though some of it changed at the end, but that too was negligible. Even at the end he possessed these... more>> characters to a large extent)

Lu Yan with help from Lianning, has gone from a okay going and moderately smart person to a person running on 10% of brain power. By the end of the story, most of his decisions have become flawed.

Though Li Yan has manipulated Lianning, it was not done maliciously. The relationship between Lu Yan and Lianning went on for more than a year. And Lianning does not consider any of this, does not talk things out with Lu Yan, but instead shifts all his blame of

In the saga of the third person entry as an arranged marriage, he cannot and will not communicate his feelings either to Lu Yan or to anyone else. Even at this point, he doesn't value Lu Yan. He is just obsessed with him, that 'how could I, Lianning, be fooled by someone'.

Just to hold-on to Lu Yan and also to get rid of Song Ruan, he carries out his other sinister plan of impr*gn*ting Lu Yan to hold on to his toy forever. Even at this point I don't find any love.

Yes, Lu Yan is also cracked.

He tries to kill his own child, and though it is ethically wrong on all counts; he bases off this decision based on his experience with Lianning. He knows that the chances of his child being loved are very less and being mistreated like himself, more. He doesn't wish the same for his child.

By the end of it, I feel Lianning has got off without any repercussions. His only loss was loss of time with Lu Yan, loss of his alpha glands, less immunity. All of which are not very heavy penalties according to me. His status remains the same, monetary position is the same, not much struggle for Lu Yan or do much good for Lu Yan. Consequently, most of the benefit is attained by Lianning at a very small price.

No action is taken against any other person too.

According to me, Li Anling is not that big of a problem. He lets his son have his desires but bases these desires in reality.

Hmm.... the story had me gripped, I felt sometimes that the MC was Intellectly challenged but he wasn't able to have the upbringing that others had. He tried his best and somehow he was quite bright for other things. It was good that ML grew but idk there was a lot of suffering on both sides, a toxic relationship. But it's well written and worth the read if your okay with the tags.
