“The S-level Alpha Is Pregnant!”

A black-bellied, soft-spoken, deceptive beauty who pretends to be weak (gong) VS a flirtatious playboy who firmly believes himself to be the top (shou).

Sheng Shaoyou encountered his ideal type—a delicate and alluring little white orchid named Hua Yong—at his arch-enemy’s place.

He wanted to pluck this fragile flower, place it in a vase, and keep it hidden at home. But little did he know, this seemingly “delicate white orchid” was no ordinary flower—it was a rare and noble Ghost Orchid, dark and enigmatic.

At a banquet, Sheng Shaoyou, an esteemed S-level Alpha, was drugged and assaulted as though he were an Omega. His gland was bitten and injured. Seizing the opportunity, Sheng Shaoqing, an illegitimate son who had long coveted Sheng Shaoyou’s position, struck against him.

The seemingly delicate “white orchid” silently withdrew his soft smile. The radiant and charming beauty suddenly turned sharp and sinister.

“I’ve been polite to you all this time because you’re my brother-in-law. But you dared to aim for Mr. Sheng’s life and even ruptured my gland. Though it will heal soon, it hurts a lot—”

“—So, Shaoqing, you’re in big trouble now.”

May this type of love never find me.

Hua Yong is such a manipulative and disgusting human no matter how hard the author tried to whitewash him with the later explanation (which the author failed). This kind of novel is only good to read when you need some dog blood during your period. Finished the whole novel and still don't like him 😂 I tried to justify his actions in every chapter but he is just beyond redemption. Only read if you can turn blind eye with everything and don't use... more>> normal way of thinking in this novel.

On the other hand, the second couple story is much more interesting but of course the author failed to supplement their story. Lots of weird plot holes especially around the extra chapters.
Spoiler

Someone who was supposed to die suddenly appeared after ten years and none of the misunderstanding was solved?

[collapse]

Spoiler

I still didn't under why Hua Yong tossed Wen Lang to back his alpha dad when he was having an issue with his pheromone from missing Gao Tu. It's also infuriating when he is always acting like he is helping Wen Lang with his cryptic hints when Wen Lang is the one who helped him getting Shao You till the point Gaotu misunderstood everything

[collapse]

Spoiler

And for what reason did Wen Lang's omega dad helped Gaotu to flee overseas with another alpha and didn't tell his own son about it even after three years?

[collapse]

There's no "wife chasing" in this novel since the "wife" happily forgive the "husband" as they are a sucker for pretty face and nice smelling pheromone.

The author is good at adding more problem into the existing issues and then ended it without proper explanation... In fact lots of readers at jjwxc also find the ending and extra chapters to be a huge nonsense. I sincerely wish they changed the plot for the drama 😂🤦🏻‍♀️

The translator is doing a good job in translating the novel👍🏻 <<less

The second reviewer is right of you read the novel you will get it because everything is slowly explained but I only feel the second couple should have more scenes and most reviews are talking about alpha being week after the half story isn't it already mentioned the strength of enigma they explained his strenghth vs. An s level alpha in earth quick scene and if we look at that way enigma is supposted to be something more like ss level right and blushing doesn't mean that the alpha has... more>> become week it just means he gets embarassed easily because he is not used to get so much love or show it and blushing is usually instinct behaviour which everyone does even from the start it is always re explained in story that he have hard exterior but soft inside he says sharp things but his actions end up always caring which is normal for people like that there are people who say what they don't mean by heart but whatever everyone has their own views I will surely watch the series <<less

This ABO novel is not as bad as the 1st reviewer claims it to be! The top (ML) is an Enigma, and the bottom is an Alpha (MC). There are many situations in the novel that clearly show the huge difference between these two protagonists!

The Enigma gong never suddenly becomes toxic. From the beginning, he is completely obsessed with the MC—crazily in love, even. Yes, there is one scene where he forces himself on the MC, which is not okay, but that moment is never repeated. Beyond that incident, the... more>> ML does not ab*se the MC at all, contrary to what the first reviewer stated. In fact, he treats him with deep devotion afterward.

Also, the MC never acts like an Omega. He remains very much an Alpha, and that's part of what makes their dynamic stand out. As for the ML triggering MC's Heat and sabotaging his business—there are clear explanations provided in the novel. If you read it carefully (and not just rely on MTL), you'll understand the reasoning behind his actions. Nothing is brushed under the rug—everything is explained thoroughly as the story progresses.

It's important to note that if you can't read Chinese, you might miss a lot of nuance. The MTL (machine translation) is difficult to understand and often mistranslates important details, which can lead to misunderstandings and early drop-offs. Thankfully, the English translation is now available on Chrysanthemum Garden, so I highly recommend reading it there for a more accurate and enjoyable experience.

In conclusion, don't let other people's reviews stop you from giving this novel a try. It's not perfect, but it's definitely a good and engaging ABO story. If you're a fan of this genre, give it a shot and judge it for yourself! <<less

Omegaverse authors really are stumbling and tripping over themselves only to write the same story over and over again, and it's not even a good story. They start writing standard AO pairings, but get tired of the predictable power dynamic and inherent hetero feeling AO pairings create. So they switch to AA or AB pairings, hoping to capture something new, but despite removing the omega from the pairing they end up repeating the same tropes, forcing one of them to play the omega role anyway (B or recessive A gets... more>> turned into an omega by a dominant alpha, miracle pregnancy, formerly masculine character reduced to a blushing tsundere moron). This story is just another rehash of everything we've seen before except the author seems to think it's both "comedic" and "romantic" that an arrogant alpha is put in his place (read: r*ped) by a "real" enigma man. Shaoyou might have needed a reality check but the author treating corrective r*pe and having his whole life turned upside down as an appropriate way to humble him seems kind of f*cked up. I'm just going to assume "the S class alpha is reduced to a baby factory" is the author's own humiliation kink. Of course, in order to clear a way for their "romance" the author minimizes the consequences of s*xual violence and paves over everything with your standard r*pe baby fluff. Pay no attention to the lies, manipulation, s*xual assault, loss of bodily autonomy, just look at the cute cub!

Other random thoughts:

Spoiler
    • There's also something homophobic about the condescending way authors think it's only natural that the weaker and less dominant partner must be the bottom, especially outside of AO pairs. Like "this arrogant S class alpha thinks he can top, but instead he is forced to bottom because he's weaker" doesn't sound funny or erotic, it sounds like your understanding of s*x is that it's something done to assert dominance rather than something done for mutual pleasure. You're never going to be able to sell a "romance" if all the s*xual encounters read like "forced to bottom, and pleasured into submission".
    • ABO authors need to stop with the S class this, dominant that writing. Learn how to write convincing characters and a compelling story and stop talking about the letter grade you assign to some guy's ability to stink up the room in every second paragraph.
    • Pheromones = psychic powers also needs to stop. While every cringe try-hard scene of an alpha suppressing less dominant guys with his invisible hormone gas is really funny, it ruins any sense of immersion.

Let's start with some positives: I like the translation. I think the translator did a great job at adapting the medical-related terms and provide contexts.

Now that that's done, here are some things I don't like about this.

Spoiler

Pretty much everything is built on lies. The gong (HY/ML) specifically crafted his persona to match the shou (SSY/MC) taste, and target his (mc) weakness to attract the shou. That creates a very uncomfortable dynamics in my opinion. It's especially apparent when the shou starts to fell in love and struggle with his feeling, you would read how he's stuck between two impossible choices, then they cut to the gong POV and you're reminded again that oh, this is a scenario that the gong specifically set up to trap the shou. It also doesn't help that the pretending was going on for far too long.

The ML did so many annoying things to the MC, like purposefully triggering his rut/heat at an event so he could have an excuse to get the MC company on the bad side of a very big and influential company (which surprise, is actually ml's but he hid his face so nobody knows) which led to mc's company almost went bankrupt, aka his company that he basically dedicated his WHOLE LIFE to.

But the most horrible thing is when he pretended to be a stranger and r*ped the MC. I still don'tunderstand the motivation other than it led to the reveal and at that point I'm already exhausted

[collapse]

Anyway maybe some of my complaints will be answered further into the story but I don't know if I'm going to continue since my only motivation to read this far was because I wanted to know how the MC would react <<less

I understand why this novel gets a lot of criticism, and I strongly encourage new readers to check the tags beforehand.

That said, as someone who went in knowing the red flags, I actually enjoyed the story. Some parts were definitely frustrating (especially the MC, who's a playboy with a pretty warped moral compass). But having known and (unfortunately) frequented people like that in real life, it gave the story a certain realism for me.

My biggest issue was how little we get to know the ML in the first half. I... more>> really wish we had more of his POV early on to keep the interest going (especially since I wasn't a fan of the "weak orchid" persona. I wanted a strong, powerful, manipulative orchid!) Once we start seeing his real persona (around ch 40), though, the story definitely picks up.

Overall, I found it a fun read... as long as you're patient. I'd recommend it to fans of omegaverse and yandere tropes.

Edit:
Spoiler

The permanent marking was a bit of a weird moment in the story. It came so quickly from MC being kidnapped to ML saving his life -- without both talking things out. I really wish there was a smoother transition between the two parts of the story (between ML being the weak lover and ML being the strong saviour lover). It was a necessary transition, however, and I do like their relationship past this point.
