“I, Shen Miaomiao, reluctantly took over a game company at the start.”

Fortunately, the rebate system awakened just in time. As long as the company incurred losses, the system would compensate me with ten times the amount!

So, the goal of this young CEO is to bring the company down! Financial freedom!

“I, Gu Sheng, transmigrated into a game designer at the start.”

Fortunately, the Game Treasury System awakened, allowing me to climb to the throne of the Game King by creating hit games!

So, the goal of this Game Director is to expand and create brilliance once again!

When a laid-back CEO encounters a determined game designer, the company’s direction gradually becomes abstract.

“You said no one plays mech games? What is this ‘Titan’s Fall’ you created?”

“You said the horror game market is lacking? What’s the deal with this ‘Escape’ game?”

“You said second-generation shooters are easy to lose money? Are you remaking ‘Call of Duty’?”

As Shen Miaomiao looked at the profitable financial reports, her mind buzzed.

Not a single penny was lost, so she made up her mind!

“From now on, let’s torture the players mercilessly!”

She couldn’t believe that she couldn’t lose this money!

Upon hearing this, Gu Sheng unfolded a stack of game proposals in his hands.

“Boss, take a look at these—’Black Blood Renegade’ and ‘Wolf.’ Which one should we start with?”

I like Losing Money to be tycoon and this one has the same concept/theme. But when I read this I feel that it lacks something. I don't know if it's because of the pacing or conversation but something is missing. I will not rate it at the moment since I may be biased since I only read this because of LMTBT.

Our MC and the lady boss (FL) have a system but that said system has a requirement to fulfill. MC system requirement is for him to have the position of... more>> director or above to activate it and release a game before he has the director position. So he can only release a game when he has the position of director. While the lady boss is similar to the Boss Pei system, no one should know her true goal and purposely lose money. They must fulfill the conditions simultaneously for the system to be activated or it will self-destruct <<less

It was funny. The main character has a cheat to copy games from Earth, and he was employed by a lady boss who has a cheat that multiplies losses and turns them into profit. With the main character wanting to do his job properly and the boss wanting the company to fail, their conflicting goals lead to misunderstandings and unexpected outcomes for both.

Besides, gamers' reactions to the games drive the comedy and add to its appeal.

There was another novel called 'Losing Money To Make Money, ' and this novel appears... more>> to be a twist on that classic.

Though there are only a few chapters, I find this to be an excellent novel, and the storytelling keeps me hooked. <<less

Definitely one of the best funny novels I have read.

Just to check, do you know the name of the games that he based it from?

  • What is the name of the games that 'Catrio' is from?

This has got to be the funniest novel I've read in a while. With one character trying to make the game good, and another hoping to run the company into the ground, things get... Interesting.

I like how SMM ends up accepting the situation. Instead of trying to ruin the company's games, she ends up inflating the costs to the point where quick returns are impossible. Moreover, she starts focusing on potential sixe projects that can lose money. However, the comedy centered around her starts dying off in the later half of the book, and her role disappears.

GS definitely plays the role of the protagonist, and SMM is his support. His system feels OP (like it does most of the hard work for him) because we don't really see him struggle at any point. He is the one creating "adaptations" of games that he knows (cutting pieces and combining them together). His objective was creating/sharing game that he would want to play.

As mentioned before, the game plots take up a good chunk of space. I understand that having gaming reactions better highlight the amazingness of the games and works, but 10 chapters feels like a lot. As in, I ended up skimming/skipping through later long story game reactions because the games were mostly based off a real life game.

I liked how GW games impacted the world (companies studying them, new innovations, inspiration, etc) but wanted more. Despite everything, it felt like no one could really challenge GW in game designs & innovations which means no real danger or tension. Would of been great if they highlighted more rising/better games.

I don't know every streamer/youtuber/media personnel, so I don't know how many were referenced, but I felt somewhat uncomfortable with portrayals (especially with those I know about). Sometimes, everyone felt like the same personality (maybe mtl effect) and reactions. I know that the games presented were new and innovated but high rating on almost everything feels like too much and somewhat forced. Not everyone will like everything and that's normal (games ratings should at least somewhat reflect this, right?)

About half way through! I would currently rate this about 3.4 but bumping it to 4 because I'm enjoying the novel. The beginning was very entertaining as SMM tries to create losses while GS works towards better and better games. As they work towards their conflicting goals, the other characters see and question both of their actions. But their employees generally support them. The writing is okay? I wouldn't know a lot because I'm reading the mtl.

Romance is currently slow but developing.

Shen MiaoMiao:

Spoiler

From SMM's perspective, getting the system rebate is extremely effective. She can invest some amount, get 10× into her PERSONAL account, and repeat. Her goal isn't fame or influence but the financial freedom needed to be a salted fish. SMM fervently works towards this goal while concealing her intentions. Whenever the projects succeed, she is always/most of the time disappointed by her failure. However, she pushes past these failures to try again. Additionally, her system does reward her efforts by proving buffs and upgrading. These encourage her to change plans later on. As she grows closer to her employees and GS, she sometimes feels disappointment but also proud of their achievements.

Although her laziness may make her personality dislikable, she has her own morals, beliefs, and charms. For one, SMM wants to fail on her own terms. She can accept failure from a bad game or honest competitors, but she refuses to be bullied and tricked unfairly. SMM is dedicated towards her goals, so she (a game novice) researched and talked to experts in the gaming industry instead of blindly guessing.

(Unfortunately for her, these experts are experts in their world's bad gaming industry/ situation. Hence, they can't compete with GS's knowledge. In fact, her schemes and plans would have succeeded if she hadn't tried her company to GS.)

She can be intelligent and diligent, but she isn't motivated most of the time. Additionally, her reactions are pretty funny. She framed her first rebate. Occassionally she succeeds, proving that rebates are possible and the system isn't useless.

If anything her motto would be "work smarter, not harder"

Gu Sheng:

Spoiler

The other MC that competes with SMM. He also possesses a system that allows him to get game data from his previous world. It's an extremely strong cheat that allows him to overthrow SMM's plans. Although the core of his games are games from another world, he needs to adapt these games to this world and its technology. Hence, he needs to overcome challenges with time limit, company money constraints, emotional points to buy the data, company relationships, etc.

However, SMM gave him essentially unlimited access to the company's funds and capabilities, allowing him to express creative freedom in his adaptations.

His character hasn't really change or grow because he was an experienced game designer in his past life. However, he puts a lot of effort into his adaptions, showing his dedication and passion towards games.

Plot/Story Review:

Spoiler

For the most part, I enjoy the growth of their company. Although the story doesn't go too deep into interpersonal relationships, you can see signs of the trust and connections that had developed so far. The employees are happy to be part of Golden Wind and trust the bosses when they make seemingly impractical decisions.

Moreover, there are also many streamers showcasing the games. They represent popularity and reveal the impact of Golden Wind. While personal relationships don't develop, their perspectives provide moments of excitement towards games and create humor.

However, these moments can feel dragged out. The early games don't have deep plots, so we quickly get into the reactions and funny moments. Starting from Titanfall, the games started having longer and heavier plots. Maybe it's the mtl, but the game reaction would feel dragged out. It sometimes took multiple chapters and felt like the author was relying too much on the original games to build the story of success.

This is also where I started to feel tired of the game adaptations. I understand that GS wants to introduce these amazing games to this world, but I would have been interested in the creation of entirely new games with new inspirations. In fact, the story could even have other characters/employees coming up with game ideas to showcase how Golden Wind has encouraged creativity. Maybe this will happen in future chapters but it hasn't happened as of ch 261.
