Even after joining a professional team, fans could only see the player sitting in the corner of the competitive stage, wearing a hoodie with pale skin, performing smooth and fluid techniques, and a set of warm almond eyes that glinted faintly beneath the dark mask.
Until one day, during a livestream mishap, people caught a glimpse of him eating noodles at home through the camera. The chat exploded that night.
“His real face?! What kind of ethereal beauty is this!!”
“He could have relied on his looks to make a living, but he chose to become a world champion with his skills??”
“Look at how quietly he’s eating noodles, it’s melting my heart…”
“How can he be so well-behaved!”
…
A few seconds later, the sound of unlocking was heard in the live stream.
The live stream room fell into silence. The young man on camera appeared to be halted for a brief while, his expression flickering with anxiousness. But he was a step too late, unexpectedly meeting the gaze of the voice’s owner.
“Mianmian.”
A cold and deep voice cut through the microphone the next second: “I told you, you can’t eat instant noodles at home.”
The young man stammered with a shocked expression on his face, “Why… did you come back early…”
He was swiftly picked up by the tall figure and disappeared from the camera before he could finish his sentence.

It does have it’s ups and downs. The way that it’s wrote might annoy many people and it has its plot holes that may or may not be filled. But it’s honestly pretty good. It focuses on the main character, Jing Mian and his life. I like the way the author describe PTSD. It doesn’t dump the trauma on you from the start and layers it over with flashbacks. It also isn’t the type to suddenly push in trauma from out of the left field. You can already tell that something is wrong. Mianmian is a little slow, degrading of himself, and is a little ghost.
The gong, Ren Xingmian, isn’t as focused and I feel is a little bit of a lacking point. His trauma and past is more told and not really integrated. His showing of weakness near the last chapter honestly the best one. His relation with esports is also a little abrupt. But his character is also a pretty green flag: treating love and kanoodling well. Albeit possessive. A lot of people may be adverse to the use of a flash marriage. It’s a trope that is used a lot in BL novels and the shou uses the gong to face slap his enemies. But I feel that this novel uses it in a novel way because of the main couple’s personalities.
Additionally, the esports aspect of the novel is pretty in there. I’d say that this novel is maybe 1/3-1/2 esports. But the main focus is probably their relationship/Jing Mian. The team doesn’t go smoothly straight to the top. They are met by a setback about halfway and near the end.
I don’t like how the gong came sweeping in the rescue at the end.
