「Senpai, you dropped this.」

That sudden call marked the beginning of a relationship of an aloof senpai and his cute overenthusiastic kouhai-chan. Despite not having any contact previously except for using the same train station to get to school, senpai unwillingly agreed to a promise: from that day on, they would have to answer one question every day no matter what it was without telling any lie.

The disinterested senpai who doesn’t want to give up on his peaceful commuting time, and the passionate kouhai-chan who doesn’t want to give up on the only student taking the same train as her. This is the story of how their relationship will progress with just one question a day.

It's really quite cute, but I just can't love the ML.

FL is adorable, proactive, sweet, and charming. ML is the kind of 17 year old boy that thinks everything is a hassle. He digs his heels in whenever he's given the chance. He's stubborn, apathetic, and boring.

It reminds me a lot of the "manic pixie dream girl" trope, where the 'serious man' meets the 'adorkable girl' who drags him out of his comfort zone and makes his life worth living.

Seem pretty interesting so far. Even though there's a slow romance tag, their relationship is progressing much faster than a lot of other ln. The chapters are also pretty short. Would definitely recommend as a light read.

This is a Japanese WebNovel by Togai Aoi. First, I want to mention that this story is the definition of day-by-day. While attraction to someone on day one is normal, this story completely takes that out of the conversation, and focuses on the progression of the characters. This story follows our main characters, Kouhai (Yoneyama Maharu) and Senpai (Iguchi Keita). The main focus here is their daily interactions, with every chapter representing a passing day. The characters interact with each other every day at the train station. To get to... more>> know each other better, they introduced "Question of the Day" where the person asked this one question cannot lie. This is the epitome of growth through interaction to me. If you're a person that dislikes miscommunication or misunderstandings then this story is for you. They actually talk things out. There are no misunderstandings. There is no unnecessary drama. There is no love triangle or harem. If you wanted a story about interaction or a story where they're focused on connecting, this is the perfect story.

However, if you are interested in a story with great side characters or other characters all together, this may not be for you. I'm not saying that there are no other characters in this story. You will meet some other characters the more you read. However, these characters are not very important. There is only Iguchi Keita (Senpai), Yoneyama Maharu (Kouhai), Mother (Senpai), and their friends, Idezuka, Ikeuchi, and Masumi who all have little screen time. I did not mind the small screen time that they had, however, if knowing more about them is a must, then you should reconsider reading this. Our main character shares 98 percent of the attention. This is not to say that our side characters are not beneficial. They showed another side to our side characters, and somewhat helped the plot move forward. They spark interesting questions, and their characters are not bad. Just underused and not a focus in this story. Senpai's mother may have gotten the most recurring parts in the story for side characters. The story started at the train station, and ended at the train station. But that does not mean that was the only location known in this story. As time went on, we saw Kouhai and Senpai leave the train more and more. They would go on dates. They would enter cafes often. Meet at school. Go to each other's homes. Meet each other's friends and family. Their time together is perfect. We get to see our main characters develop. Kouhai who was pushy and wouldn't take Senpai's feelings into consideration. She would become considerate. She took Senpai's feelings into consideration and asked him before she did anything. For Senpai, he was more to himself, he was annoyed by her presence and he would often fall for her teasing one way or another. As time passed, Senpai learned to deal with her. He enjoyed his time around her, and even found ways to turn her teasing back onto her. I watched as they grew into more responsible adults and learned from one another. *SPOILER SECTION* Do Not Enter Unless You Have Finished or Does Not Care For Spoilers (It Will Spoil The End) — In the final chapters, 97-104, you can see a massive change in Kouhai and Senpai. (Spoiler) This is a spoiler, but I want to mention this anyway. In chapters 94-97, Senpai went through the process of allowing romantic relationships. He promised this afterall. After being successful, on Christmas or Christmas Eve, Senpai and Kouhai boarded a train. On this train, they would confess to each other in the only way it would make sense. 『Today's question』where they confessed the feelings that they were both aware of. I wanted to mention this, because of how unique I found this. Not only were they actively aware of the feelings that they had for each other. It was genuine and it spoke for their characters. There are not many endings that I love more than this LN. <<less

It's pretty good, I like it. It's a slice of life romantic comedy, and it's pretty standard, nothing too special about it.

The male protagonist is aloof and somewhat lazy, the female protagonist is social and outgoing. The story develops by having them interact with each other nearly every day, with an interesting premise of "one question that you must tell the truth to every day". The perspective is in first person, with the POV constantly changing between the two, and we get to see the thoughts of both characters as... more>> they interact. I personally prefer the female protagonists POV.

As it is right now, I definitely recommend picking it up. It's a fun light read, and with the amount of chapters out at the moment, you should be able to catch up in at least half an hour. <<less

short review : P I N K

long review : PIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINK. Seriously though, I LOVE both of the characters. This is a story revolving around two characters, there is barely anyone other than them. One day = one chapter more or less. If you love them, you will like the story. Otherwise, you won't enjoy it that much.

Truly a good work of a romance genre, and the translation is superb.

This novel is happiness itself. I'll update this with a better review later, when I can sort myself out a bit and these union-cutting ninjas let me see again, but the short version is: This novel is a slow, casual, peaceful build up and exploration of the relationship between the MC and FL. There are, I believe, only four named characters in the entire novel, the MC, the FL, the MC's Mom, and a classmate of the MC/senior in the art club of the FL. 80% of the novel is... more>> on the train in short little interactions. And it's absolutely beautiful, genuinely one of the sweetest and best novels I've ever been blessed enough to find. I cannot possibly recommend this enough, please try it, I promise you won't regret giving this a shot.

And a huge thank you to the translator and editor for the novel. Both of them did an absolutely phenomenal job on this, they even managed to translate a huge portion of the puns and other wordplay like that. One of the most comprehensive and best translations I've ever read, they easily surpassed professional quality. Thanks to their awe inspiring efforts, you can enjoy this novel on a level that's incredibly deep. I've read hundreds of translated novels now and few, if any, have managed to translate the wordplay so well. Genuinely, with all my heart, thank you for the translation. <<less

A slow burn romance between a senpai and a kouhai.

Except you're the one getting burned slowly, with chest burns.

Seriously, it's freaking good. No drama, no supporting characters, no subplots. Just Senpai and Kouhai. I highly encourage you to read this if you ever want to feel the fluff.

It is a really sweet story that can surely be wanting some insulin shots while reading every chapter of it. It is about the daily interactions between a senpai and his kouhai on their way to school on the train. The way they interacted was natural and believable and I was grinning from ear to ear while reading it. I recommend that you read this.

I can't believe I could get hooked with slow romance type novel like this. I thought it will be boring but it proves that I'm wrong.

This is a story about a senior in his 2nd year high school (ML) and his junior in her 1st year (FL). They took the same train route everyday but never talked to each other before, until FL accidentally picked up ML's earphone and returned it. That's the first time they talked to each other.

ML is an aloof type who doesn't really like to socialize... more>> much, rather he choose to read a book during commuting. FL, who is interested in him, somehow tricks ML to agree to ask each other a question a day and answer it honestly (each chapter is literally a day). Each day, ML and FL learn something new about each other.

I find the plot is quite refreshing. Their interaction is so natural and sweet. The main characters are not like your typical romance novel where ML or FL often described as extremely handsome/beautiful or super rich, instead they are just ordinary students with ordinary looks. That's why I can relate to their story because it feels real. I really reccomend this story to everyone. <<less

I didn't have high expectations - I thought it would be a shallow romance with a lot of understatements, a dull hero and generally it would be a copy of thousands of other novels I've read.

I was pleasantly surprised - real relationship development, with goals, without understatements and with declared characters.

Great story, no unnecessary drama.

And relatively paced - 100 days from strangers to relationship. It was really a pleasure to read.

I would love to forget about it and read it again.

Slice of life type of writing, got bored after a bit. The pace is slow, so it'll take a while to see the male leads character change/growth. If you like slow paced slice of life romance than you'll probably like this. I dropped as there was a lack of plot and other story elements to me due to the slice of life genre.

This was fun and nice.

It is a simple love story. A "stale" and "rigid" senpai and an "easygoing" and "cheerfull" kouhai that get to know each other by asking one question a day. Simple is best, as some say.

No ultradense characters, no inconvenient or unexpected difficulties, no s*upid (kinda) barriers, just the development of the relationship between two people.

Read it if you like sugar-coated romance and happiness. It is a small novel anyway. Enjoy.

A well translated (and written) slice-0f-life romance novel between two high school students that doesn't pretend to be anything different. There are no large twists, subplots or even other characters to get distracted from. This is about two people slowly getting to know each other and getting closer as a result. There is a nice twist of also giving the ML and the FL POVs in order to give the reactions and thought processes behind both characters.

95% of the novel is the dialogue and inner monologues between the two leads.... more>> The characters are very grounded and realistic and I think the pacing is good as well. The romance is pretty light hearted and mainly about the two characters teasing each other and slowly developing feelings for each other. It reads like a SOL/romance manga in that each chapter starts with a topic that resolves itself by the end. I think the main enjoyment while reading the novel comes from the innocent teasing and gradual character development. Actual romantic scenes are not present, these are disciplined high school students after all! <<less

The daily life of the reserved Senpai and the eccentric Kouhai-chan on the train to school, full of gentle fluff. The story keeps alternating between both their POVs.

It's a slow burn romance. In fact many of the chapters contain mundane conversations, but that's what makes the story very enriching and authentic.

The finale is superb, especially on the bonus chapters. Prepare your insulin shots!

With quite a few things to nitpick as seen later down below, this series regretably isn't a masterpiece. However it has plenty of refreshing elements that makes it a half-diamond in the rough compared to most SoL romance, and is definitely worth a read.

The best part of this novel are the MCs. Both our senpai and his kouhai would seem like very cool people irl, with defining, fun personality traits that aren't glaringly overdone. They go far beyond simply being a stiff student council president and his mischevous junior.

And they... more>> just have amazing chemistry! Their personalities mesh very well together, which makes fun interactions even from stale topics like blood types. Despite being in a junior-senior relationship, they are very much equals in many ways - in teasing, fluff, engagement, support,... etc. - making it a much more enjoyable read. Seeing both of them trying to teasing back after being teased is the best.

I love the way the MCs get to know each other. Throughout their routine of asking a question a day, they start to learn more about the other, allowing their indifference to turn into interest, friendship, and eventually attraction. It's a cool premise that turned out to feel realistic, hilarious, and sugary (weak-minded convos, anyone?).

That said, this series suffers from weird and eventually glacial pacing. It went from having solid signs of progression every chapter, to events that scream 'They should both know the other likes them, right??', and to dozens of chapters of filler with zero progression. This isn't to say that the romance is bad; the author ticked all the boxes on how each of the MCs feel and gauge their distance, but some steps were either too long or short (looking at you, Ch. 101 - 104).

Unfortunately, we never got to see how the MCs interact with others / the other MC at school (so much for a HS romance), resulting in a tiny cast of three characters (the third one is a mom). For people that want more than just the MCs talking, tough luck.

All in all, this isn't a novel with a large, in-depth cast, phenominal character dev., or some profound message. What it does deliver is a slow-paced rom-com with ridiculous exchanges and a chance for diabetes. There were large flaws that greatly detracted my enjoyment of it, but it's still a pretty solid read nevertheless. <<less

First of all, the story revolves as obviously stated from the title, between a senpai and kouhai, commuting in a train to go to school. Asking questions from one another and started with no feelings at all for one another but of course as time went on, surely it developed on them.

Lemme give a heads up of saying that the FMC has her own ways being dominant over the senpai but there are moments that the MC manages to overthrow her. I know that not all are keen to femdom... more>> but please give it a read first until the end.

The only upset that I can say is that around the middle it became a bit bland or a bit repetitive but after that it slowly progressed leading to near the end stuff. It isn't that bad but it felt like fillers for me, still I rate this as 5*.

You need a lot of insulins starting from chapter 100 as it approaches the end. Like really a lot of it. I hope you guys read it too! <<less

Before reading prepare insulin shots for latter chapters.

Great approach to a romantic story. It may be slow-paced but in every chapter you can see how the relationship and characters are developing.

Definitely recommend 👌

This novel is quite minimalistic, with a cast of two characters (plus a bunch of extras), virtually no drama and basically just a set of conversations, but it is truly excellent at what it's trying to be. The chemistry between the leads is fantastic, the mindgames they play with each other is very entertaining and their growing affection is very subtle yet very convincing by the end. The pacing of the relationship progression is slow, so it's one of those novels where I think you have to be able to... more>> enjoy the journey, but I also thought the ending was satisfying. The entire work gave me a sensation of consistency, subtlety and attention to detail that made feel like the author is a skilled writer. <<less

This is really a good read with sensible romance plot. There is no overly dramatic event that usually take place in shoujo ai novels and they developed their feeling with usual conversation and it is really fulfilling. The most I like about this novel is both character is aware of each other and how they act through appropriately.
