Frankly giving 3 stars to this story is stretching it. The plot is basically all over the place. MC has 2-3 lives and as story goes on she gathers her "families" to make a big "family". ?? And her friends, basically they do nothing. They are just footholds for MC to show how awesome she is. My main problem with the story is ML. Initially "they" were introduced as seperate entities. The problem arises when the merge. It felt more like the seperated soul part just took over the body... more>> because as the story progress author always emphasize on how he is/was devil king, how they were contracted. This irked me a little and basically takes away the fun what little so ever it was in this story to begin with. <<less

This was my FAVORITE CN for many years. I loved the adventures and how the FL actually had to take risks and put in hard work to be as overpowered as she is. I enjoyed her relationship with her family and friends and contract beasts, and the whole thing was tied together really well by large goals like "find my father" and "save my senior brother" that gave an overall direction to the story.

Which is why I kind of fell off after 2000 chapters. Most of the big goals were... more>> already achieved, the FL and ML got married, and then there was a huge "time skip". I use quotations because they neither commit to skipping that time period entirely or to telling it as part of the story, so it comes across as a rushed recap that's only there to justify why these new characters are part of the action. Was I glad that there was more story to read? Yeah, to tie up some of the loose ends. But then I started to feel like the author should have just ended it after the wedding instead of pushing for a whole new action/adventure arc in a whole new setting because it felt so disconnected from the pre-"time skip" chapters.

I still really enjoy the majority of the story, though, and I will forever have fond memories of checking for new chapters to brighten my day. It just kind of sucks because I don't think I'll ever finish reading it. <<less

I really liked the adventure in this novel. Although it can be dragging at times and names can be confusing. The flow was fun, exciting, with laughs in between. Witty sense of humor. Sadly, I somehow wish that the ending could have been elaborated more. There are some unresolved issues such as:

  • Was the war between "good karma beasts (vermillion bird, white tiger, black tortoise, azure dragon) " vs "bad karma beasts" resolved?
  • How did Wu Xiao Dao return to the immortal continent after she found her partner (one that can reverse her bad lucked life). She's one of You Yue and Lingyu's daughter.
  • How was the continent after the chaos world was reconnected to their world?
  • And a lot of other stuff.

The author might do this story like Douluo Dalu/Soul Land to tie up some issues in the story.

Probably because of its length, the author has forgotten some supposedly key items like the ghost banner was highlighted as very important in order to rescue her mother but when it happened, I have read that she used it significantly to break the prison. Although she used it to fight against enemies as she journeyed.

Still I enjoyed it very much. I just wished it was extended a little 😂

My take on some comments that the title is not apt since she became a wife only after 2/3 of the whole story. But remember that early on, Wu Lingyu has already placed a stake on her. I mean he has declared her as his wife already and he has been doting/pampering her even at the expense of his life sometimes. So she was technically his wife although not yet legal 😂 <<less

This novel has a good plot and wonderful characters, but it is poorly written, very wooden, primitive prose, impossible to enjoy. I wanted to rate it two stars, based of writing alone, but the plot is good and the family and camaradery among friends is so good in this story that I had to honor that with two more stars.

The FL, a TCM practitioner and an assassin, comes from our modern world to another somewhat higher realm where people and animals can develop spiritual powers and cultivate strength. She becomes the fifth young miss of one general's family, brought up as a boy to hide her true identity, and begins to cultivate in all branches of spiritual strength and skill: martial arts, alchemy, beast taming, mastery of arrays, refining weapons, etc.

The ML is always there with her since day one either in body or in soul (half of his soul is split off and stays with her in her private space).

She saves the ML's life very early in the novel and after they sleep in the same bed together and he likes her cooking, he recognizes his own interest in her as his wife, he kisses her and their fate is sealed. From that moment on he simply waits for her to physically grow (she is 14, and just started schooling and cultivation and he is level God, way too much for her) while taking care of his business in higher realm and half of his soul stays with her and "insanely pampers" her by facilitating her meteoric growth as a practitioner in a million ways, teaching her step by step, supplying rare manuals, extraordinary spiritual plants, his own strength, etc. On top of that she has great friends at school and a wonderful adoptive family (grandpa general and four brothers).

Later on, the split half of the ML's soul will be able to come back to his body, fully restored, and two thousand chapters later they will marry for real.

The chapters are rather short, so the novel itself is not that long, actually. But if you account for the poor writing, then it feels like eternity to get through it. It's a pity.
