First, the story is really good to read. Aside from the difficult names of the character to spell, read and remember, there is something different on this novel from your general 'transmigrated story'. The plot is thick and there is always something to look forward to the following chapters. The world building is also smooth, in a way that tends to draw the understanding of the reader of the current setting of MC.

Second, the characters. The MC is peculiar. He is simply what he was described by the author in... more>> the beginning and I like the way he deals with his circumstances and overcome the situation. He attracts you more because of his train of thinking. Also, each character (s) have their own unique personality. Some are likable, some are annoying, some are witty and some are beyond common sense.

Though I must admit that if you read The Novel's Extra - the previous novel of this author, you might find similarity between
Spoiler

Chae Nayun and Sylvia

[collapse]

Third, I have confirmed it's indeed a harem. Each girl have their own stories and yeah, a series of thick misunderstanding as well.
Spoiler

fiancee Knight Julie, stalker Sylvia, not real sister Yeriel, s*upid Epherene, regressor Emperor Sophien, there is also this adventurer who I forget the name that is Kim Woo Jin ex-gf on real world

[collapse]

Through the nicknames I added, you can have the idea of their personality.

Still, this is one of the novels I greatly recommend. Active Translation really did a good job translating this so it's another plus reason to read it this. <<less

It's a good novel so far and Active Translations have provided quality translations. I don't really plan on doing a full review until the 100th chapter comes out, but I'll attest to the quality of the beginning.

The MC is an utter chad and proves you don't need to be an edgelord if you want to look cool.

So far the novel seems like it could be more of a Korean drama than a fantasy which I rate it though since the author is talented at it more than any other genre... more>> based on his previous novels,

My only complaint is that all the main characters are females. The author only bothers to make women interesting and leaves the villains to the men, or he simply just ignores them. I guess young teens would like this aspect though. I guess this is what is to be expected when reading a web novel. Oh and the power leveling is also kinda wonky, but I guess I'll have to read more chapters to form a solid opinion on it.

Overall a 4.5/5 novel so far, but I'll rate it a 5 since I want this to gain more popularity. <<less

This novel is something special. The author has only sharpened his writing style from his previous works and it feels deeply realised in this novel.
Deculien can't express himself well (Similar to Cale in TCF) which leads to creative interactions. He doesn't frequently fight or move outside his strict character guidelines. It's a cool premise done well but sometimes you wish he would do something you'd relatability do.

What is left to see is the ending. We have never received a satisfying ending yet but I think this could be the one.

Love it.

Deculain's character development is one of the strongest aspects of the novel. Watching him grow and change throughout the story, as he becomes more self-aware and learns to navigate the world around him, his two presonalities blending togeather, etc.., is truly satisfying. He is a character that is easy to empathize with, despite his flaws, and it is easy to become invested in his journey.

The relationships between Deculain and the other characters in the novel are also a highlight. The author takes the time to develop these relationships, making... more>> them feel realistic and organic. The banter between Deculain and the other characters is both humorous and heartwarming, and it is clear that they care deeply for one another, even through the barriers that are inbetween main characters, because of Deculains past actions.

Tho story has a few weaker arc, but overall - this is one of the best novels I ever read <<less

This novel is almost brilliant at some parts. Some character arcs and plot twists are amazing. The world feels fantastical and awe-inspiring, but the harem bogs everything down and, apparently, the ending is tr*sh.

Personal drama and romance are big themes in this novel and it probably wouldn't be as good without them, however, the author goes above and beyond reaching bollywood levels of convoluted plot and angst. The MC has at least 5 female characters just madly in love with him, but we know that he's stoic and the tone... more>> of the novel is fairly grim, so it would never have a fulfilling end. Very odd decision that feels out of place. I would've been happier with a love triangle ngl. <<less

At the start I didn't find anything special in this, despite the countless praises in the comments. But as I read on, it grew on me. I suggest taking multiple breaks in between arcs because there were so many things happening that one can easily get burned out or bored.

This MC is perfect for me after reading countless kind and emotional heros. Deculein is largely unemotional, indifferent, sharp and reserved. He fits perfectly in the noble box.

In the end though, I had to dropped it. It would have been perfect... more>> if the novel just focused on the professor / teaching and action fantasy part. But the author just had to insert a f*ck ton of misunderstandings and convoluted romance / drama that it was such a slugde to continue. It's kind of like the author's signature of having great starts and characters and bad middle to late ends. Just like in the Novel's Extra <<less

I love it! I thoroughly enjoyed The Novel's Extra and this has not disappointed me at all. The world building is incredible with new facets being unearthed with each new (ish) arc while remaining consistent in its principle. The MC is very interesting, not even fully knowing his past which just thickens the plot in the juiciest with every truth unravelled or remembered. I like the female characters too. All in all, a great read for me.

I don't think a perfect story exists. I wouldn't even know what that would... more>> look like. But I have enjoyed this. I'm sure you would too. Simply put, a story worth your time. Lots of it <<less

I am your typical reader that reads shounen/seinen, shoujo/josei, bl novels. This is actually my first time leaving a review because I felt the need to.

In my humble opinion I think its rating is too high, I myself had rather high expectations reading this plus look at the daddy like MC . I thought it would have something special to it and kept reading, hoping it will pick up. I mean, I wouldn’t even mind if there wasn’t anything special, just the satisfactory read would be fine since I love... more>> the concept of villainous MCs. So I read few more chapters and the translation team even said something along the lines that “next few chapters will be gold”. BUT nay, I legit didn’t see it and still cannot see where it was supposed to be and I am dropping it here.

I wish I saw Joseph_Heatfield‘s review before because it seems to be one of the flaws of this novel. I don’t love the genre but I don’t mind reading harem sometimes (Release the Witch is nice) but that doesn’t mean that there should only be female characters. I was hoping for some friendships or bromance since korean novels are good at it, but there was none and excuse me, but the two girls were really not likeable at all. Nobody’s perfect but the girls, they are incredibly flawed from the beginning in every possible way (like even when you read their POV). I can’t think of any good points they have and the novel also describes them only as 2 people with very high potential of being biggest of their generation. It really seems like they are made that way just for the sake of MC having lots of work in ‘fixing’ them and giving the reader an illusion of character growth. I am not rooting for anybody, I really wanted to sock them on few occasions and also the thought that his students are gonna be his ‘harem’ is not helping it and is rather off putting. Just think about it, Hermione crushing on professor Snape, that’s how it feels.... <<less

I just love it how mature the MC in the novel, although let's say it's because of his programmed traits. Anyways! The story is good so far. I have been enjoying this read that I forget to eat and lose some hours to sleep.

Engaging, intriguing, well written. Most novels are good because they do one of these things well. This novel has all three, and the guidelines driving the story forward are enjoyable to read. The MC is a fusion character (can't really explain without spoiling), but it is an interesting premise that only continues to build in later chapters.

Overall, this is a great story that you shouldn't pass up.

Good writing, characters (aside from MC), development and focus on plot instead of plain leveling up.

This is worth a read, specially if you liked The Novel's Extra. I like how the Author doesn't explain everything all the time and leaves some things implicit or just keeps the mystery and engagement. It shows the Author evolved since the last novel in regards to writing.

But not in regards to game system and character balance. The same problems with the previous novel are found here: Overpowered 'system' that gives overpowered cheats to the... more>> MC. Deculein is just too bloody awesome in everything he does, thanks to the god level skills he 'chose' before transmigrating.

Spoiler

A skill that lets him understand anything in the world, so unsolvable problems become nothing in front of him. A skill gives him a perfect body and wolverine-like regeneration. Another that tells him if anything in the world is profitable. And a last to improve/upgrade any magical item in the world. All for 'free' except for mana cost

[collapse]

So when there's a scene of everyone telling how ultra amazing cool the MC is while he stomps on the bad guys/situation, it feels cheap and undeserved. Unfortunately, that happens a lot.

The magical law that everyone uses is already cool and developed, so the whole game system/cheat felt unnecessary and just detracted from the whole story and world building in my opinion. I'd rather see the MC gain things from the merits of his transmigrated personality and not from unfair cheats that he gets from free. Same from missions that drives his behavior for small free benefits that accumulate in time like extra maximum mana: It takes away his agency: The MC is always chasing quests like a puppet.

Both these things kind made the transmigrator a cardboard character with no personality. Fortunately, the persona of Deculein he plays all the time is still interesting to read, just don't expect character development on the MC's part.

The side characters are good though, with their own development. Unfortunately most are girls. Dudes get little to no love from the Author. To the point I came to this page to see if it was a Harem because it feels like one and the tag at the time I started reading was romance. It's fixed now, so HAREM warning. Aside from the bad game-like system cheats and cardboard transmigrator that's just playing the villain persona without any emotion, it's a good read. Not amazing but still worth it.

Now, if it'll continue like this remains to be seen. TNE kind of fell from grace by the end, but let's keep hopeful. I'll update the review then. <<less

I love the way the MC is portrayed as being the worst enemy in the game but being so graceful and carrying such a dignified aura. The interactions the MC has with the rest of the characters are what makes it really intriguing for me and why I want to read more.

Overall, this novel looks really promising and I can't wait for more chapters.

Great story, although sometimes leans too heavily into drama like a kdrama tv show. But the setting and the character interactions save it from a worse review.

It's like a KR version of Death Flags, except there are already ~200 chapters. I've read the raws and my interest is still holding.

It's a pity the HTL hasn't reached the best girl yet, though...

Amazing start but honestly that's to be expected from Jee Gab Song (Author of 'The Novel's Extra').

It's the latter portions of the story that I'll be worrying about moving forward. Here's hoping that this time around the author can keep the quality of the story consistent all the way to the end.

So if you like TNE as well as novels like 'My Death Flags Show No Sign of Ending' then you're pretty much guaranteed to love this.

Honestly, this novel is quite the masterpiece. It's starting especially hits off really well.

Well, more than being awesome, you can say it's expected from the author of The Novel's Extra.

I hope the author has matured and does not make the same mistakes like in the Novel's Extra. While the Novel's Extra is really great, moving on it lost it's first part momentum. While, the first part is a masterpiece, you can say the rest of the novel is excellent but the fact it's quality reduced from masterpiece to excellent doesn't... more>> change. I just hope he doesn't do it with this work of his.

Regardless, so far I enjoyed the novel. It's 10/10 for me. No regrets. <<less

The novel is really good. The MC is crazy dark, charismatic and cool. I always feel that these reborn into the novel while knowing the whole plot thing becomes stale coz the MC just knows where everything is and gets it before the enemy.

This novel on the otherhand is really interesting because there are a lot of death flags that the MC has to overcome making it more tension filled.

TLDR: if you liked The Novel's Extra, tr*sh of the Count's Family or My Death Flag Shows No Sign of Ending... more>> the you will like this. Especially if you like a Dark and Charismatic MC. <<less

This is a well thought-out story for me (in short, it's great). Only at the end did I realize that this was a tragedy of some sort. I was only looking for a school life novel. I guess the only criticism I have for this is that the author has a tendency to make bitter sweet endings or portrayals of tragic heroes / heroines. But that is where the author's strength lies and I would keep reading more of their work.

The story starts out really strong with great world building but gets worse after the first 100 or so chapters. I still recommend reading it though.

As others have pointed out a lot of the decisions MC will make after the 100 chapter point seem to go completly against his character. The story also starts out with MC being seperate from the game character Deculein and trying to keep being himself but it slowly becomes a novel about the character Duclein with a game developers knowledge about the world. The MC... more>> also makes so many choices that dont make any sense especially because he knows the plot of the main story.
Spoiler

For example he does everything in order to keep the empress alive. Now he says something about her death being game over which clearly doesnt matter since nothing bad happens when she undoes the MCs death with her power. Even after she loses her power he still sacrifices a lot to save her to which she immediately responds by commiting genocide on an innocent race. Now we are made to believe she has some important function towards the end of the story but that is clearly not the case. The only thing she does

Spoiler

]is kill the final boss but this is more of a symbolic fight anyways since he had given up and there are many people stronger than her anyways.

[collapse]

The MC is also unecessarily cruel to everyone, which seems to be the only way the author can progress the story, with the only excuse being that that is his personality, which I guess makes sense since the previous personality completly disappears at some point and only the game character is left.

And perhaps the most frustrating thing is that we never learn how the transmigration happened in the first place. Was it actually gods will? Then who wrote the novel? God? Someone also under gods influence? Is Earth a different dimension or how is it related to the game world?

Was absolutely involved and interested in this story. Everything was amazing, world building, plot, characters and their motivations, but before you know it that interest slowly dwindles until it becomes nigh non-existent. This is what I'm suffering from while inching closer to the 200 chapter mark with 100+ chapters more. Previously in the story even when certain characters annoyed/bored me I was still invested because of the MC and his journey. But alas the story gets lost in itself as it deviates from it's main purpose to overly convoluted melodrama.... more>> I'm not a fan of drama stemming from relationships cause I start getting pissed at character choices so maybe that's on me, is what I thought at first, but I guess many share the same sentiment.

All in all this story gets so lost in the mc's tiring relationships with the female cast (except for Yuriel and best girl Sophien of course) that the initial excitemnet of the story just vanishes. It totally forgets what it is at it's core but the story was fairly interesting and I don't wanna be too harsh so 3.5/5 but I'll round up to a 4 cause the beginning had me hyped. <<less
