I've been MTLing this and I really like it so far. The MC's personality is wonderful and even though she wants to live she's willing to risk her life and follow the ML, who she thinks will kill her, to heal her father. I'm kind of disliking her brother right now but we haven't seen much of him yet so that might change. I do wish there were more translated chapters though.

The story is very nice. Though the focus is mainly on the romance between MC and ML, the background politics are nice too. You can get the taste of B×G, B×B (low-key?) & GxG in one single novel. Btw, the empress is insane... (in my opinion).

The MC values her family highly... to the point that she can dress-up as her brother and enter compulsory military training when he's away. She's an expert at sword but wants to remain low cause her life is at stake... since she's disguising as her... more>> brother.

MC's brother may come off as a coward or delusional in love at start... to the point that he ran away as if not caring for the family. Unfortunately... it was all circumstantial. He had to go away to save the life of his beloved and he does try to make up for his faults later.

ML is obbessive but not possessive. He's also suprisingly... a fool in love.... to the point he believs he's gay for MC. Early he only wants her to work for him... but later his values regarding her changes.

Both MC and ML have their own circumstances... what they have done in order to save their family/keep the person near them... terrifies them.. they fear what will happen if the other knows the truth. Their feelings are real but their circumstances weren't. It's nice how things turn out later.

I can't say that all supporting characters are fleshed out... but many of them certainly are. My favourites are the MC's brother and the ogFL. There's MC's brother's beloved too... who throughout the story is unfortunately in an unconscious state. Never saw her awake. -_-

I read the manhwa instead and a bunch of spoilers and mtl'd chapters, so I know this story by heart.

It's pretty good. I'm biased since it's one of the first ones I read when I first got into this asian novel/comic world, but I like it. I suppose it is a bit cliche, but I'm a huge sucker for gender benders. Seeing the ML question his sexuality is so entertaining. I also found the ending to be quite satisfying (but it wasnt really surprising, it's what you'd expect).

The FL is... more>> pretty rational, she seems like a normal person. The ML confuses me a bit because there are times where he's a super cute puppy dog-like character, and others where he is cold and brutal. Imma just say he's cute tho haha, since he really is a bit dense. But he is obsessive, just sayin (guilty pleasure).

The characters all felt real too. I was/am quite immersed in the story, and the characters had interesting and fun dialogue. I'd say my only criticism is how MC is sorta mary sue, but its not intense or anything, only slightly, and I guess it also makes sense in her setting.

It's a fun story, so 4 star rating. I'd recommend the manhwa instead tho bc of how much of a thirst trap the ML is. IGNIS CAN GET ITTTTT SHIIII <<less

The story itself is unique. You really get the feeling of how the ML is so confused by his feelings towards the FL (who he thinks is a guy). I absolutely loved it and it's special because you won't forget the story like many repetitive ones out there. I recommend 👌🏼
