I recommend reading "Di Mou" or otherwise known as "Scheme of the Official Descendant". Don't get turn off by the title or the slowly start, because let tell you all the exposition at the beginning is worth slogging through. The foundation is necessary, because when the story hits the ground running, it goes from 1 to a 100. The MC is one of my favorite, she is smart but not the smartest. Along with the ML who only helps out the MC when she asks for it because he drank his respect woman juice and does not treat the MC like an idiot or damsel in distress. "Di Mou" directly translate to Conspiracy and man is the schemes so layered and deep that you can't see the bottom. Everyone is so fleshed out and nothing is dragged on for the sake of drama. The MC is smart, the ML is smart, the villains are smart, and the side characters are smart. I love the side characters so much. This is the best political and scheming Chinese novel I've ever read. The characters actually scheme at each other instead of obsessively trying to off the MC. The romance is slow burn but you can see step by step how the couple comes to trust each other and then fall in love. Little to no dog blood misunderstanding because it is above that and if does have it only last for about one chapter. Best of all, the MC has a female friend and does not garner the hatred of every female in the vicinity just by existing, a miracle. I MTL binged read all 500 chapters in 3 days and I still want more, though it would take some effort to remember the names and status of the characters. I ranted so much and this story is so underrated that I want to cry sometimes. That being said I hope you would try it out and enjoy it.
