Note that the romance only happens in the extras and the main story narrates the happenings inside the dudgeon. In all honestly, I did enjoy the plot, especially the past and future sections but it was a little draggy for me. I believe it's due to the writing because the author described every little thing. It was a bit too much and some were quite redundant.

However, the overall character development of the MC was nice. I really liked how it's not so much of MC transforming into a better person... more>> but how he found his old self that could love and be loved again. The dungeon is like an introspection party for the MC.

The MC and ML have an intriguing relationship dynamic. They are inseparable from their past down to their personality.

It's later when you realize the current ML is just using the MC's past sunshine persona and he's actually quite dark and gloomy in truth. The part where the ML feel like he's still a thief because he even "stole" the MC's personality made me feel things :')

The ML has a kind of worshipping feeling towards the MC but he is still rational. I quite enjoy this kind of character, one that is not blindly in love but at the same time, can't escape love 😂

Another thing I noticed, which I think it's a KR novel kind of thing is that the character dialogues are mundane and shallow which made the characters less interesting. Also, the vulgar things ML said to the MC when MC confessed was so random?? 😭😂

As mentioned previously, the ML is rational so after the MC's personality changed he would first doubt it. So when the MC confesses out of the blue, I understand his anger (thinking MC is using his feelings to tie him down) and distrust. But-

The ML suddenly speaking vulgarly to the MC and calling him worn out or loose implying that the MC sleeps around is so random. I got whiplashed from the entire conversation like h-hello now is not the time for dirty talk 😭😭 I don't know whether to feel offended for the MC or laugh at how weird the conversation turned out

In all, it's a pretty good novel and one that I would surely remember. Ah yes the smut was more detailed then I expected so that's nice! <<less

I really really loved this story. It was funny because, the novel's plot based on a famous Christmas fairy tale, but this novel was original and gave extras to the idea.

I also liked that actually everything has came together, and it was like a big circle. We got all the answers to our questions and the extras were just the cherry on top of the cake.

Amusing, a bit light but deep enough to read it one sit, and there are intresting character development.

It was long enough and the main focus... more>> was on the "mental fight" (because our MC had to come over his past regrets) which is not common for hunter themed novels.

Highly recommended to everybody, you definitely wont regret to read this amazing and beautiful story. <<less

Reasons why I loved:

1. The MC growth

2. The growth even though u might think a person can't change that much in 24 hrs it was actually months for him

3. The realisation for feeling wasn't some sudden, he tried to understand it

The smut in later chapters might be sudden but it's only two so I don't mind. Loved the translation too

This story is so amazing that I made an account just to give it 5 stars. I haven't completely read it yet since the novel is still in translation (by orcinus) but everything, from the main two characters, to the details in the story and the prose and translation is top quality.

The MC is the kind of 'unlikeable a**hole' personality, but it is written in the way that you like him, and you really get to see that character development ... more>>

The cover may be misleading because it's kind of cheery unlike the sheer angst in the actual text but it is also very accurate :smirk:

Based on the story of Christmas Carol, it has a unique approach to the story telling. The main story focused on what happened in the dungeon and how MC found and develop himself. While I do enjoy the plot, the main story kinda lacks fluff or emotional intensity I need with the ML. After MC left the dungeon, I wished there was more detail on how MC and ML connect with each other again.

Liked the main story and how MC’s transformation was portrayed. Also, liked the MC. His thought process was interesting to read. Translation is good. Thank you, orcinus!
There are some plot holes here and there. And the love line was kinda rushed (though I liked that ML was doubting MC’s intentions at first). Also, too much smut in extras, got kinda tired of it.

This is probably one of my favorite angst novels of all time! It feels like the author planned things out very well, so there are a lot of callback moments throughout the novel that made my heart feel like it was being destroyed (in a good way haha). Seriously, this novel had me crying so many times, but the writing was also surprisingly funny at other times-- I loved it. The two leads are a bit messy and are a little messed up in their own ways, but I think... more>> it's handled very well and they're both still very likeable. Very highly recommend to anyone looking for something angsty. The translation is also top notch in my opinion.

I think the only thing I don't like is the NSFW scenes, but I don't think they're badly written-- just a matter of personal taste. It's just that the rest of the story is so good that I sometimes wanted to skip the NSFW scenes so I could get back to the plot LOL <<less

To be completely transparent about this story, I got bored reading it. I know!!! I'm annoyed with myself for it too. The translation is top notch and definitely kudos to the translator for all their hard work, but... especially the chapters in the ML's POV I really struggled to get through. I think my main issue with reading this is that there really wasn't much romance development, and I can't blame the novel for it because the author does warn us in the beginning that it's more character driven than... more>> romance based but!!! My heart really needed it.

The side stories do expand on the relationship but the timeline going back and forth really killed the vibes for me. I have a hard time transitioning back and forth like that when I'm reading, as the story was driven by the MC growing as a person, and then the flashbacks would take me back to before the main story, and I would just lose all interest and want to return to the current timeline. I may give this another shot in the future, I think maybe a re-read would make the story better as I wouldn't be constantly on edge waiting for the romance plot line to be fulfilled.

Just a personal preference about the way the novel was written though, I'm sure many people will and do love it! <<less

Enjoyable novel, even though there are parts that are heavy and made me sad. I wasn't expecting a completely light hearted read but the portion of heavy content compared to the light was kind of unfair. I wanted more of the light stuff after abusing me for so long.

MC, Lee Juwon, is exactly as the intro said and maybe worse. ML, Kang Inheon, is wonderful... patient and patient.

Overall, I liked the novel. ☺️

As the intro stated, MC was trapped in a dungeon and had to escape in 24 hours. Within the dungeon, MC got to see the future if he hadn't been trapped in the dungeon. He would've died the next day, everyone would've been happy except for ML. ML would mourn at his funeral and drowned with his ashes in a river. MC wasn't aware of ML's feelings.

The dungeon also sent him back to the "past" when MC and ML were children and in school together. MC did not remember ML but used this dream to get to know ML and encourage him to be better.

MC used to be kind and carefree but he changed when his parents died and he was abused by his relatives. He lived in poverty and became mentally ill. ML had been waiting and waiting for MC to get better.

The experience in the dungeon made MC realize that he loved ML and it also helped him to discover ML's love for him.

SPOILER...

...

ML was a thief when he was younger. He was forced into it by his circumstances and thought he was no good. ML was going to kill himself. However, MC unknowingly saved ML that day through his kindness and encouragement. ML resolved then to live well and do good.

He had searched for MC and worked hard to make money for MC... hoping that MC will go back to his original self. MC was ML's reason for living. This is why ML had killed himself when MC died.

The angst was immaculate and worthy of 5 stars. I cried a couple of times.

The rest of the story was decent, but I wouldn't consider it 5-star worthy. The author... wrote too many details imo and dragged things out imo. I wasn't really invested in Chapter 5, and the lengthy details made me want to skip through it and the rest of the novel.

I'd say that the first few chapters and hype moments are great, but the rest of the novel requires some work from the reader. The start was... more>> a little confusing too at first, but I like how creative the author was.

The MC's awesome! I think it's awesome how the author made me care for such a Scrooge-like character. I love his character development, and I agree with the translator that the novel is mostly character development > romance, with romance being mostly in the extras. I love the relationship between the MC and the ML though! It's quite complex, and I liked their ending.

There is surprisingly large amounts of NSFW content near the end, haha. Super long.... <<less

regardless of this high rating, I personally did not find it that interesting. For first-time readers into bl novels, they might find it interesting, but otherwise, I found the plot really cliche and predictable. This story emphasizes the main characters personal development over the subplot relationship which is fine overall, but the romance cam kind of out of nowhere for me. I understand this point of view in regards to the ML, but for the MC, it was really hard for me to see how his love formulated. There were... more>> some points throughout the book which I could agree demonstrated the MC love for the ml, but I still feel like the ML deserves someone better. The MC in my opinion was really tr*shy, and his reformation after death doesn't mean his past should be pardoned. He not only tormented the ml, but everyone else around him; he puts a price onto humans and feels nothing if they were to die cause of him. Another thing I found annoying was the fact that the plot felt really slow and dragged out. This could have just been my impatience itself, but after all the built-up to the climax, it was disappointing that the author completely skips over their relationship development towards the end of the novel. Overall, I felt that there were many pieces of enjoyment lacking for me throughout the novel, but if you were reading bl novels for the first time, I think it would be enjoyable. If not, then it was cliche, predictable, and un-enjoyable. <<less

not bad. It took some time until you get to the romance part tho and I would have loved it more if they got more into detail how they got together or at least make less rushed. In short, I needed a bit more fluffiness.
