This was written solely to dish out dog food and dog food alone.

NO ONE IS TALKING ABOUT MENG YAO YAO?!!?!?! SHE'S JUST AWESOME OMFG I LOVE HER. When she confessed to the ML and he rejected her for the MC, instead of being that one jealous b**ch, she thought to herself: 'He doesn't like me because he's gay! That means I'm still desirable, it's just that he's gay!'

No one's talking about this???? I'm in love???? Why can't my MYY get a bf?????? I volunteer????? HUh??????

She's so wholesome, she still supports them and is kind of sad but doesn't become vengeful. Honestly, that was the perfect reaction!! She wasn't bothered, she knew that he wasn't attracted to girls and accepted that. (She was also relieved because it didn't mean she was ugly or something). She even helped them with the MC's mom (her stepmother later in the story) and was honestly a g r e a t character.

God bless, everyone's sleeping on this underrated character.

Uh I don't like it. It's like reading a Wattpad story that's written by a teenage girl lmao. The relationship between MC and ML is meh. This story is too common? Mid? Generic? Idk the right word for it and reading this made me sleepy asf hehe.

Haha! So nice~ the ML is so cute when he is with the MC ahhhh!! I'll willingly eat dog food for as long as ever! Haha~ It is nice though, but the love story is kinda fast paced but thats okay~~ hehehehhe, I wonder when they'll get kissing scence.. Hehehe? Ahwww I kinda wanna read it now!

I came here looking for fluff after reading some angsty novel and I'm glad that I was not disappointed.

The description is VERY misleading. ML did not sexually harassed the MC (Idk why there's a need to use the words "sexually harassed" so freely nowadays and give it some "adorable" connotations. Not cute) rather it was us, the readers, who felt the need to report these couples for feeding us dog food every chapter!

The main CP's interactions are all literally teeth-rotting. It made me want to barf with rainbows and unicorns.... more>> I'm actually planning to give this 3 stars but decided to increase the ratings just because I want to empathize with the side characters who felt scandalized by the main CP's sweet moments.

Another thing I want to point was the amazing female characters in the novel. Yes. You've read it right. The majority of the female characters here are actually nice and not there to pose some threat to our CP.

Now, maybe you're wondering why I keep saying 'main CP'. It's because there's actually 3 (or more. Honestly, I stopped counting) side CPs here (the last side CP was not further explored and they only have 1 extra chapter). Nevermind how many CPs are there. The side CP I want to discuss received a lot of backlash from readers and you know what it was very valid.

Their relationship started off in a very disturbing manner because of the gong's aggressiveness. Normally, I'm all for the ML's ruthlessness but this one was not up to my taste. It was very forced that even though they had HE, I still dislike their relationship. (And this is coming from me who "tolerates" toxic relationships) It makes one wonder whether the angst for the main character went to this side CP instead. It was the cliche "I'll sell my body for you in exchange for help". I still feel bad for Lin Jiang (the uke in this side CP) for the way he was treated, not just by Gu Ming Ren (the seme) but also by the ML. They all treat him like some s*ave or a dog. lemme say this now: LIN👏 JIANG 👏DESERVES 👏BETTER. He's one of the best characters with a very realistic point of view. He's my baby and if only I can strangle everyone who hurt him, I definitely would. HE JUST WANT TO HAVE FRIENDS OKAAAAAY. I have high expectations and wished that he would have at least some nice and healthy relationship. Alas, we can't all have the nice things. You can all be angry with me but I rather ship him with a girl than Gu Ming Ren (Yes. I'm a Meng Yao Yao x Lin Jiang shipper). I don't know why I'm so worked up in this book. I'm just furious. Forgive me. It's just that, I just want my baby Lin Jiang to be happy. Speaking of 'baby', you'll be so fed up with this word.

I know he's technically happy in the novel but can't I just hope for a better relationship for him? I remember someone told me that if you want to know if a book made some impact (positive or negative), you should ask the reader if they are willing to reread it. And I would be really lying right now, if I said I don't want to reread it. <<less

so... the translation is really good and the conversation between the translator and the editor is a lot of fun to read. the content itself is really not that great though...

a lot of the other reviewers said that the 'fluff' was particularly good but it just feels like two bland entities just existing while somewhat interacting with one another. i've been reading this novel but I can't label anything as outstanding just because I can hardly remember anything about either one of them.

the style of writing for this book is... more>> there are two main characters, and random people show up to cause trouble for them. but after the main CP has powered through the problem the people vanish and are never to be heard of again. like at c45 the author writes a note about how one of the previous characters (from like, 15 chapters prior) was going to make an important appearance and literally the whole comment section was like who? who is that? and when your cast is only like 15 or people large, that's a bad sign. either your character was so bland no one can remember them, or your writing of the character and their interactions just had zero effect on people's impressions.

the author has teased an important plot point since like the first 15 chapters but I'm a third through and we're still stuck on the tutorial. why?? it feels like playing a visual novel where you already know who the end boss is and the plot twist but you have to play through a couple hundred hours of monotonous grinding just to get to the end.

if I finish reading this i'll update my review but dang i've been casually reading like 10 chapters or so for the past few days but I can hardly remember anything content wise to make this review solid <<less

Eh.

This novel had its up and downs, but overall I would say the biggest problem was that it took itself too seriously. And by that I mean it added drama for what seemed like the sake of drama, as it was often somewhat nonsensical or that it lasted for like a chapter before being resolved. A crap ton of cliches were tossed in too, like the whole "mother gives the bf/gf of her sum a check so they will leave their son" or "I need to sell my body to... more>> the person I rejected in the past" bit.

That doesn't mean the novel didn't have it's good parts, like some sections were really cute. But overall it was more mediocre than not, so I rate it a 3.0/5.0 stars. <<less

Is it only me who thought this was actually mediocre? Lol yes? OOP.

I don't hate the story. I thought the premise was cute; it carries a striking resemblance to Fake Dating the Amnesiac School Prince (an also cute but terribly mediocre novel). For one, this has a more palatable relationship balance. ML is not too overbearing & MC doesn't act like he's about to piss his pants around ML. That alone scores pretty high by my standards since I feel that it's often hard to establish a good power balance... more>> when you have two opposing characters from differing social statuses. The story falls flat for me. Even side CP lacks gravitas. But it's still an enjoyable read if you just enjoy dog food. <<less

Dropping this one.

It's quite fast paced. I like the ml, he's very headstrong and flirty. I really don't like the MC if I'm honest. I'm not rating this one as I think it would be influenced by my dislike of the MC - some people probably like that type of MC, but I don't.

I find the MC very wishy washy and hypocritical. I get that he is "straight" but One moment he is saying his heart has moved for the ml, the next he is interested in a girl.

Absolutely adorable! Unlike a similar story called "Fake Dating the Amnesiac School Prince", this one manages to avoid all the terrible pitfalls like overly aggressive ML, dubcon, waffling around for 50 chapters before cp reciprocates feelings properly, etc. Instead, this novel just serves fluff in the highest quality <3

Furthermore, I love how the family drama is handled realistically and satisfyingly. The dumb misunderstandings between the main cp are mostly bc ML is very, very dumb sometimes. Very mundane and slow. I dont mean the romance cuz they got together very early on. But I found it boring to read. The author's writing style is very simplistic (i think) and I couldn't get into the plot (if there is one). I just feel there was nothing exciting. I dropped it pretty early on so im not sure if it get any better... I just feel it wasn't what I would have enjoyed reading.

Lowkey, , the relationship between Gu and Lin made me uncomfortable, , you could read that Lin was having absolutely none of it and that's not great, , , when, , , you read, , , a cute romance story. Apparently it gets better later on? Though I just read the main story and the lil extras that were attached to it.

Forcefull kisses that aren't reciprocated/appreciated in any wsy really have me going like

There is so much cavity inducing fluff in this novel, I basically ate a whole bar of crystallized sugar. It's well written fluff too, not the brain dead kind.

No need to wait for any painful slow burn, because the romance in this novel starts off strong. Their relationship progresses quickly, and both characters grow to have a tacit understanding of each other. Although MC and ML encounter some difficulties throughout their relationship, they communicate properly and are able to change each other for the better. The character development is fairly... more>> strong as MC emerges from his withdrawn and timid self, while ML learns to reign in his impulsive personality. Due to their families, there's a bit of drama but it's resolved swiftly.

Additionally, the female characters in this novel are well written and fairly diverse. None of that all-girls-bad or all-girls-good nonsense, each one is a separate individual. They're also pretty funny.

One of them tried to put a shounen ai novel in MC's desk to help him progress his relationship with ML, but she accidentally put her collector's edition hardcore yaoi in his desk instead, leading MC to accidentally open up new horizons, hahaha.

The main story ends at chapter 87 and the last extra ends on a cliff hanger as there's a short 32 chapter mini-novel involving the side CP, followed by 4 additional extras that feature the main CP, side CP, and an additional side CP. i dont really know why this only has 3.9 stars, I can't see anything bad with it! the descripion is a little missleading, I wouldn't call it sexually harassed. so if it's that is holding you back from reading this, it really shouldn't! it's so cute and cute and... Very cute. In front of others, he’s a school bully that is arrogant, domineering and a ill-tempered guy, but in front of our MC, Ji Liao, he’s like a soft abandoned puppy seeking love and attention from him..

The first chapters gave me a good impression. It was cute and funny. I love how ML kept teasing MC, in which MC will reply with an embarassed expression, and not only the ML, because I also found him very cute.

But that was all my first impressions, and all I thought first impressions would thoroughly affect my future journey in this story. But I was wrong.

First of all, they dated too fast. And without even me knowing that they're already dating!

In the beginning, MC kept declining ML's flirt because, he's... more>> straight. He liked girls! and he's afraid of ML (he's the said school bully in this story).

Even if ML always shows his different, soft side to MC, MC was only moved by him after a short moment.

Onwards the chapter, his feelings should've been still at the denial stage, like.... He couldn't accept that he's already bent, and most of all, had fallen in love with the school bully.

And it was after that chapter when I realized that they're actually already dating? But during that chapter, when the school flower (popular girl) confessed to ML, ML rejected him. At that time MC was there watching, and then he suddenly thought in his mind:..."Ah, I wish I was the one she confessed to. Too bad..." something like that!

Like..... he was not jealous at all when ML was being confessed to, and instead was jealous because he was not the one who was confessed to.

Well perhaps, he might've been drinking vinegar, but if he did, why isn't conspicuous? I could've noticed it! But my first thought after reading this part was MC wishing he was the one being confessed by the school flower.

ML was jealous after that.

So he was the jealous one instead!??

And then after that, something might've happened that I didn't noticed.... but for some reason, they somehow started dating? Because on the next day, MC kinda vaguely admitted he was dating ML. And ML's POV was like "I had to be a responsible Boyfriend and all!"

And also MC accepted ML's kiss.

The thing is, the fast pacing could've been fine for me if MC wasn't trusting ML enough.

I was feeling uncomfortable at MC's mistrusting.

For me, fast paced romance meant that the Author should've already decided they were together, and the characters were now being lovey-dovey, with only struggles which the antagonist would cause, filling the rest of the chapters; Unless the Author decided to portray reality once being in a relationship after only meeting for around 2-3 weeks, because that's what's exactly happening here!

They got in a relationship way too early, and I was actually expecting for more struggling and more denial until they finally got together. Normal campus BL stories I read would be the MC and ML dating right after several chapters (around Chapter 30-50??) It's way more satisfying and it'd be more reasonable if they finally dated. At least you'd have a feeling of relief and genuine happiness, witnessing the leading characters finally getting together after all sh*t they've gone through.

I wish this story could've been like that (or almost like that, as long as the pacing is slow and patient)

On the other hand, I always felt like ML was forcing MC to be with him? I mean if that's supposed to be normal because he's "Impatient", "He couldn't endure his love anymore" and "He's anxious because MC might not love him".... Then I think it might've been better for him to give MC a time to think, so that ML won't have anxiety anymore. If MC didn't accepted him, then accept the outcome as well, (he's straight, so what can you do?) there's no point to force it unless he wanted to be in a toxic relationship with MC.

Because I think MC had been rushed by ML's constant flirting or something like that?

Their early relationship had triggered some uncomfortable consequences.

  • MC doubting ML
  • MC not trusting ML
  • MC is afraid of exposing his relationship with ML to everyone
  • MC is still guessing whether he's gay or not even if he's already dating ML!
  • And MC's still ashamed of his relationship with ML!!
MC is ashamed!

Well isn't he really supposed to be ashamed! He was just forced to become gay a moment ago! Well I don't care if other readers thought he was not, because for me he is!

When he had just helped the beautiful girl to get paired up with ML because apparently the beautiful girl had a crush on ML!

And when MC wished of being confessed by the same beautiful girl, and then after that he dated ML the next moment! (without even me knowing how and when!!)

Isn't there something wrong with this pacing?

Their relationship is rushed

that if this had been in real life (at least in my country), then the couple would've already broken up when they hadn't even gotten together for a month yet.

MC's mistrusting, and their overall fastburn romance is just way too uncomfortable. This is not my cup of tea, and I'd have to unfortunately stop reading it.

Even if this story should've been only for fun/enjoyment, I was not having fun and enjoying this story.

There's actually a potential for this story. I really love the beginning of the plot. But then after they dated, I started feeling really uncomfortable.

I know there should be more chances for me to judge this story considering the number of the chapters I still haven't read yet, but I really couldn't keep reading this story...... <<less

It's a mediocre novel to say the least. The conflict got annoying for me and there are many unnecessary events such as Jiang Qi sticking to the MC like glue only for nothing, plot hasn't moved or anything.

The MC was very cute, he made me smile a lot. ML is such an ideal boyfriend haha.

I really have nothing to say about this, it was a bit entertaining. I have to put this in the ''Read when you have nothing to do/ when you have free time'' category. Definitely worth reading!... more>> Don't let a bad review stop you from reading something that you can possibly favor, this is just my opinion and preference ofcourse, don't take it to heart. <<less

why was this so cuteeeee, so fluffy and sweet aaaaa >.<

I'll definitely recommend this if you want to read something fluffy and where the main CP is super doting. Mmm, side CP wasn't as great at first cuz it was hard to read through (literally) since gong used the wrong way to approach shou, but it slowly cleared out and became more interesting and understandable.

I'll have to say that the situations that both the main and side CP were in are different - main CP was mainly for dog food,... more>> tho it had a small amount of obstacles to their love (less realistic in a way), while side CP definitely had a more realistic overlook where they had to annihilate all those obstacles before they could successfully realizing their love, which meant less dog food. This was something that made the novel very enjoyable - a ride on the feels train!

Therefore, I recommend this novel! <<less

In my opinion this deserves a higher rating.

The plot was nothing new, quite cliche but I still found it entertaining and cute.

The MC surprisingly managed to endear me. He is a typical weak shou, but I think he is really cute and sweet. And also really reasonable. I liked him, which is a surprise since I don't really like these kind of characters.

The relationship was really cute and I loved it. I also loved the parts about his mother finding out and all.

It also contains dog blood drama and typical family plots. Unrealistic in every sense but I enjoyed it.

I also really really enjoyed reading about the other couple. I liked them more than the main ship actually, and their story has much more angst than the main one.

Overall, I definitely recommend this. <<less

This story can be split into 2 parts/stories. The main story is 3.5/5*. The Extras/2nd part is almost all about the 2nd pairing which I liked more.

GOOD POINTS

- Physical intimacy between cp is hot and sweet and does feel realistic for teenagers their age (raging hormones are normal hence hand jobs in toilets at school etc). I dislike those Chinese high school BL novels where 17-18y olds (who are sometimes transmigrated dudes that were actually in their mid 20s or even 30s) act like shy maidens. Totally unrealistic in these... more>> modern times.

- no frustrating slow burn. CP get together very quickly (a bit too quickly)

- side couple story: I didn't like the side couple during the main story (WARNING: slightly toxic and abusive characters on both sides) and almost skipped the super long Extras. But I'm glad I didn't. In the end I liked the side characters love story more than the main story!! They are weigh funnier and more exciting than the main cp. The main CP love story is just so without challenges, too easy.

DIDN'T LIKE

- Writing style and writing skill seem so amateurish? As if a high schooler wrote it as a creative writing project? See reasons below

- 1 or 2 dimensional characters, not fleshed out at all, and without any depth and very little character development.

- Almost no plot (development)

- the love is like a typical Korean romance drama. ML liked/loved MC at first sight many years ago and for no particular reason becomes obsessed with a rather plain MC. Can't live without MC and is super overbearing. Very unrealistic romance story. <<less
