Transmigrating into the Reborn Male Lead’s Ex-Boyfriend

Description

Links are NOT allowed. Format your description nicely so people can easily read them. Please use proper spacing and paragraphs.

Song Xuanhe transmigrated into a book called “The President’s Seven Boyfriends”. He became the President’s cannon fodder ex-boyfriend, Song Xuanhe.

The Song Xuanhe in the book: 180 cm tall, so attractive he would trump over even the hottest celebrities, three generations of family in business–a very appropriate rich third generation.

It wasn’t a loss to transmigrate into this kind of person. It was just that this was a rebirth story.

The Song Xuanhe in the book abused the male lead 800 times and had even indirectly caused the male lead’s death. Faced with the reborn blackened male lead, his fate was obvious–not only did he reach rock bottom, he even died without an intact corpse.

Right now, he had become the cannon fodder ex-boyfriend that was foreordained to die without an intact corpse.

—–

System: Don’t you think that the male lead has been a bit strange recently? It’s like he’s plotting something in the dark.

Song Xuanhe: Plotting how to kill me?

System: No, plotting how to eat you.

—–

Song Xuanhe, who was lying on the bed with an aching waist, pained back and legs suffering from cramps, cursed the System 800 times–what happened to the male lead being a shou?!

Emphasis: Xiao Yuanmu is the gong! Xiao Yuanmu is the gong! Xiao Yuanmu is the gong! Moreover, the big shot has always been a gong! Spoilers only up to here!

A big thank you to the person who actually translated the last three chapters !!!

I actually find the reviews a little harsch. It's a good story with interesting characters.

The story actually develops itself until the last chapter.

It's a good read and a recommandation.

The best way to describe this novel is frustrating. I can't stand the MC or the ml, and the side characters are not any better.

The plot is ok I think, even tho its repetitive and clichéd my problem with this novel is the characters.

The MC is a shitty person, I'm fine with that I don't always like reading about some happy go lucky guy anyways, but this guy is just so—how do I put it? So confusing at times, half the times I don't understand his motives (which are very... more>> inconsistent if you ask me) and it really pissed me off when he suddenly makes decisions that are out of character, like getting involved with petty side character drama even tho he doesn't even consider them to be anything more than cannon fodder, or just plain s*upid like when
Spoiler

he got shot for no real goddamn reason, I felt bad for his system having to put up with him.

[collapse]

His past life actually went nowhere it was only present for additional "angst", I also don't buy that he loves the ML because let's be real, what's there to love anyways?

The ML is sooooo f*cking bland and what makes him more unbearable is all the times when it's shoved down my throat how beautiful and smart and perfect he is, like I don't care? He's the typical iceberg type and it gets annoying quickly (if I have to read about the ripples in his eyes one more time I'll claw my own out) and while I sympathized with him at first, gradually I stopped caring about anything relating to him or his family drama or whatever yada yada

And can we talk about the amount of useless evil for no reason background characters? There are literally so many that the translator (I believe) made a literal chart for it lmao, I remember keeping that tabbed just so I could understand who was who while reading, so unnecessary as they add nothing to the story and are essentially just filler. Face slapping is cringe worthy to begin with imo and I especially didn't like it in this novel. I also didn't enjoy the authors portrayal of poor ppl? I don't know how to describe it but the theme of class and ppl who are and aren't born rich left a bad taste in my mouth, but maybe that's just me. The timeline was also a bit confusing to follow for me, I was constantly waiting for when MC needed to return back to his world, but it felt like that part almost kept getting delayed because of how many times they mention it's gonna take more x amount of time. The pacing was a mess. For a slow burn the relationship was not even worth it, remember when the

non reborn ML fell for the MC even when the MC was literally abusive (because of the system) ?? Was complimenting his food enough to make him fall in love?? Wtf??

Tbh it went downhill after the ML was reborn, I don't like him, I just don't. I dropped the story around the time they
Spoiler

had s*x without any proper communication because ik the ML knows that the MC isn't the same person to some extent, however that doesn't make their relationship any less unhealthy, if they want to be together I needed them to talk first, f*ck the system, and f*ck the "they don't need to communicate because they understand each other without saying anything" nonsense, speak to each other, otherwise your relationship can't be repaired

[collapse]

I honestly think they'd be better off without each other, It felt like the ended up together without ever coming together in a way, almost like settling for something that's not necessarily healthy. The lack of communication between them was unsatisfying, especially since all they did was dance around the problems in their relationship for pretty much the entire novel. Enough said ig, reading this was a waste of time imo but I can see some people enjoying it cuz it wasn't boring, I think? Since I was able to read almost till the end without dropping it and I can't say the same for a lot of other similar novels. <<less

I am quite baffled as to why this is so badly rated. The characters are all complex and 3 dimensional, I'm sorry that it's not all face slapping and fluff. The MC as well as the ML have it rough, and I won't agree with anyone the want to pass them off as s*upid people that refuse to talk. People have read transmigration novels so much that it's all very saturated and they fail to acknowledge the normal thought process a person might have after being throw into a book... more>> they've read. There is apprehension and most importantly there will always be the inability to see book characters as completely fleshed out people that have their own personalities beyond what's portrayed in a very chapters of a book.

I'd like everyone to get into this novel with such mindset. <<less

First of all thank you to the original translator "XIIN" and to the translator "rain" who gave us the last 3 chapters. I was sad I hadn't been able to complete this novel when I was so close to the end, so thank you very much!!

This novel is fun. No great innovative plot here, but lots of face slapping and such. Crazy over the top telenovela, with touches of melodrama, and just crazy over the top situations, but if taken for what it is, it is a fun read.
Spoiler

The ending was a little mehh and rushed, but all in all worth a read.

This is was kinda wack. The author does more telling than showing like they're always telling us how complicated and how much depth the MC and ML have but like WHERE'S THE DEPTH?? It's just confusing... And ik only the main couple can understand each other's person but like idk the reader should understand what's going on, right?

The last third was pretty good but won't recommend. Also, the way we get to know the MC's past and feeling felt really inorganic to me.

Don't like any of the main characters. Their opponents are always brainless but I had to drop it in the chapter where a waiter splashes a drink on one of them and the ML basically allows him to be sold into s*xual s*avery. It just left a bad taste in my mouth. Can't be f*cking bother to read about a pair of rich kids run roughshod over everyone else and be rewarded for it with love and companionship. It's also quite classist. Also, I can't help feeling like the rebirth... more>> of the ML just killed the version of him I liked without any fanfare. He has the memories of his pre-rebirth but he isn't the same and it shows. My poor Mumu whose feelings and memories get given to someone else. <<less

This novel is absolutely fantastic, I really can't praise it enough. Most of these 'transmigrated into a novel' stories have relatively high stakes, usually that the MC will die if they don't complete certain tasks, but this is the first time I've read one where the author really makes you feel the mind boggling weight of those stakes.

The MC and ML feel so real, you can tell the author put a lot of love and care into crafting their story. You'll cry and laugh and in the end, I think... more>> you'll be totally satisfied. As a bonus, the other characters are extremely well written and even the worst character has their own realistic motivations.

Often in the story, the system remarks that humans are confusing and changeable, and I think that is the true theme of the novel. <<less

I really loved this book and the protags. MC was smart and cunning but not completely deadhearted. ML was typical Ice-King Gong, but he could also be sensitive and just precious.

The only part that dissapointed me was probably the latter half of the middle section.

ML and MC got seperated for a long time for no real discernable reason. They finally met up but weren't even together long before they got separated again. I just want them to be together bruh ;-; The epilogue was sweet though, so at least we have that.

Overall, it's a great read. The first half is really the best in terms of pacing, ploting and buildup. And the romance is a slow burn which I'm a sucker for. <<less

Oh Lord this novel is so FRUSTRATING on so many levels. The main issue is: no communication!

Almost abysmal communication between MC and ML (gosh, I'm so annoyed, they never really talks. Whenever they talk about something important, one of them will evade. They properly talk after chap 130ish out of 155 chaps, bruh). Not to mention many other characters that also seem to be can't understand human language.

The slow plot that literally dragged too much, ah so frustrating.

Not gonna lie... This story really have a promising idea, but what's happend with the sudden ending??? Did the author give up on continuing the plot or did author just really not care about every detail she/him wrote from the start???

Because there are too many unresolved plot holes in the story leave...

Spoiler

Let's see... First, There is a mysterious relationship between Zhou Nan and Yu Yan which is unclear until the end...

Besides that, there is also Bai Mo and his friends who are included in one of the antagonists in the story that is still roam free.

Not to mention the problem of Xiao Shenglin who is said to have returned to the Xio family, but until the end it is not explained what his position in the family is... and there is also his sister, who appears quite often in the middle but doesn't have any effect on the story.

There's also the issue of the MC family not having a clear ending (mc's father, uncle and aunt...) and also ML father Xiao Lin who threatens ML, which is not even resolved until the end.

And much more...

[collapse]

Besides that, there is also a plot that is rushed and messy since the middle of the story...

Spoiler

Previously it wasn't said that MC could stay after finishing the plot, but suddenly changed to he could stay... Not to mention the problem about the system shop that suddenly appeared + system who sacrificed themselves for MC and ML... I mean Hello!!!??? From the beginning of the story the system is not described as having a close relationship with MC, their conversation always feels bland from beginning to the end... So where did this self-sacrifice plot come from???

[collapse]

If the author can be more thorough and serious... Then this story will definitely explode, unfortunately the author is just in too much of hurry, so the story itself becomes messy... <<less

Ah this is a slowburn guaranteed to boil you alive

I generally don't like to put "reviews" down for novels I haven't finished fully digesting, but if I don't type out my thoughts now, they'll never see the light of day. The premise isn't anything new; we've seen our fair share of "transmigrating into a novel but failing to follow the plot" storylines. It's as new as isekai LNs but I'm always curious to see if there's anything novel about each one I come across. There's really two camps for this... more>> one: you either love it or hate it.

If you're not nitpicking the awkward pacing, then you're either criticizing MC's frustrating roundabout way of seizing epiphanies or the lack of depth in the main CP's relationship. It could also be the extremely petty instances or brainless characters that reoccur & dampen any positive progress between our two equally stubborn main leads.

I see & accept the cons, but I do side with the "f*ck it I'm in love with this novel" camp. Song Xuanhe & Xiao Yuanmu are an acquired taste. If you go in assuming they're like every other slowburn couple, you are incorrect! These two are honestly aggravating. Sure, there are some soft & endearing fluffy moments, but the amount of tension, bitterness, hidden-but-not-truly-concealed moments dominate the entirety of their relationship. As much as you want to make them smooch each other, they are equally stubborn & wary of each other. As frustrating as it is, I still think it's a pretty interesting approach to a transmigration novel. If the author wanted to highlight the complexities of transmigration, it's here. There's a myriad of themes—& though not as fleshed out as I'd like—it manages to set the novel apart from others in the same subgenre.

TL;DR This is a matter of preference. If you like it, great. If not, then that's fine as well. Nevertheless, give it a shot!

I might edit this when translations are complete. As always, major props to the TLs- you are all phenomenal <<less

The first time I read this book, I actually really really liked it. It was a fresh new type of danmei (bc back then I only read wuxia/xianxia/historical etc. novels) and honestly, and now even as a veteran danmei reader, it's still quite enjoyable.

There is just something about the dynamics of the main characters that's just.. good... iykwim???? It's honestly a matter of personal preferences to be honest, especially since my favourite parts of romance novels are the pining/courting/pursuing from the ML (WHICH THIS NOVEL SLAPS ON YOUR FACE TRULY... more>> LIKE... the USA arc was chefs kiss 👌👌👌👌👌) UGHH and also ML just fits... that guilty pleasure ideal man you know? Smart, rich, can cook, stoic/cold to others, kind to his loved ones, clingy and lovey-dovey to MC... etc. Those kinds of men that'll sweep you off your feet. It's one of the attractive points of this novel for me, actually.

Aside from the main characters, the side characters and cannon fodders aren't that special and you'd best focus on the leads rather than expect any development from the settings lol.

It definitely has its cons - there are a few frustrating moments; but the entertainment/faceslapping/dogblood drama keeps me coming back to re-read. The enjoyment is really up to your preferences, some would love this novel while others would not.

The novel is a pretty entertaining read, but if you're looking for a serious and well written novel, then I'd suggest you not to read it. Especially if you enjoy serious and more detailed pieces. <<less

I can proudly declare this novel as my favorite amongst all favorites. The single best thing I have ever experienced. Even though it's not the most phenomenally detailed novel I've read, it just connected with me more than any finely-written novel ever had. I remember first reading this and everything about it struck something deep within my heart. I think this is my perfect story. I really liked it. It's my millionth time rereading, so might as well write a short review as well. I found this story extremely interesting... more>> and definitely worth the read. First of all, let me address some negative things that have been consistently brought up in the reviews (potential spoilers!) :

Lots of people hate the fact that the MC is calloused and cold. I think they forget that he has a role to play, if you read the novel, it is frequently shown how much the MC sympathizes with the ML. He clearly feels distressed about doing bad things and treating the ML horribly, but he doesn't have a choice. The system clearly told him that he would die if there was a slight deviation in the plot... did you expect him to ignore that and seek death? All novel plot aside, the MC's original personality can be insensitive towards the ML at times, he has his flaws. I just think this makes him a more in-depth character, not every main character has to have the perfect temper.

Another thing I saw being brought up was that this story is a slow burn. Like, an extremely slow one. I do agree, it's a slow burn romance, this can be a bad thing if it's not the pacing that you like to read at. However, I personally find the slow burn nice. It gives more space for the plot and relationship building, as well as the character building. It's important to know that this novel isn't focused on the nitty-gritty of their romance, it's about the development of their relationship and feelings. If that's not the type of plot that you like- or if you prefer novels where the characters fall in love very quickly- then maybe consider skipping this one. I will tell you, though, that the coupling here is so beautiful and so sweet. I could practically feel my heart melting. It's hard to explain, but although they were not a fluffy clingy pair, they had the most beautiful relationship I've ever read in a danmei. Every conversation and interaction had the impression of mutual care. It gave the impression that they were the only two people in the entire world. I can't explain how obsessed I am. I find this novel extremely pleasant because of the substance. Nonetheless, everything is subjective.

Typical dog-blood drama, not complaining, though. It's really enjoyable, the main characters have their goods and bads, the side characters can be a bit one-dimensional sometimes, but it depends on their relevance within the story. You can tell when a character is a long-term ally, or if they're just present for the sake of getting face-slapped. I found that many side characters were left unresolved in the main text.

As for the system... it's ending was honestly so bittersweet. I was really touched by it's love and sacrifice for the MC.

I said I was going to shoot for a shorter review... but it's hard to control my typing. I will stop it here for now, do give this novel a shot. I loved it. <<less

This novel felt like a maze, in which you'll go down one road (a plot point) and then reach a wall (unsatisfying and useless conclusion to said plot point), then have to turn back and usually end up right back where you started, never truly reaching any groundbreaking resolutions or making progress toward the end. Someone before me said it felt like a student doing a word quota for an assignment and that's a pretty appropriate description for this. Its pretty... aimless, and not in a slice of life kind... more>> a way because you could tell this novel was for building tension and not to make you feel the warm and fuzzies. But the tension building would, well, build and then sort of dissapitate in the air. Scenes we're supposed to be excited for arent that exciting tbh.

Also I dont think I understand the MCs character. He felt very contradictory. He'd spout alot of stuff and look down on ppl loftily in his head, as if he was above them, but all his actions felt so lackluster. I didn't feel like anything he was doing was backing up that level of "immortal god, you cant touch me" vibes. I usually like characters like this too but he just rubbed me the wrong way I dont know. I just wasnt feeling what the author portrayed him as.

Meanwhile ML was like a mannequin and not just in an emotional way. But like in an action way. Things just happened to him, and he stood there (and not in a doormat way, but like a fcking mannequin). He didn't really seem to do anything. For a story that supposedly revolved around him he didn't make much impact. I blame this on the author too tho bc a lot of the scenes he was in were very wordy and prolonged when they didn't need to be, plus they were talking about anything that doesnt have to do with him, in scenes with him as a focus (???). Like they were... filling up a word quota or smth.

The romance between the two was terrible. There, I said it. It was very unsatisfactory and tbh I didn't understand how they fell in love (more importantly the MLs complete 180 jesus it was out of no where). Buildup is so important in romance and this one didn't have a great one. I think the reason why I didn't like it was because of the MCs apathy, maybe. Like his character, I just didn't buy it.

In any case I felt like there was alot of useless information. Like theres stuff an author writes for the future plot, or for you to understand stuff better, or for a more descriptive setting. But this felt like I was reading smth wrote randomly (not the story itself, but the execution). The summary, plot, and setup was all very nice until we get around to the execution of said things. The idea was nice, anyway.

Conclusion, I found it very lackluster (not rlly worth the stars it has tbh I've read better transmigration into book novels with less stars than this) but I know some people found it realistic and it wasnt smth super terrible so I gave it a 3. <<less

This is actually good. People who have complaints about main characters have no understanding of the story and background of those characters. I don’t know If they even read couple of chapters. It’s a pleasant read, characters are realistic with emotional baggage. MC went through many traumatic experiences and It’s interesting to me how his behavior is very accurate (based on my experience)

I did not like this novel. At all. It had nice translation, not a bad writing style, BUT the characters, setting, plot points, dog blood and food were subpar in every which way. This is just the tip of the iceberg of my complaints towards this work of fiction.

Took me over 2 days to finish this and right now all I am feeling is a sense of loss (of my time probably) and disappointment.

As others have pointed out: characters stop getting mentioned at some point. The mentions of... more>> certain characters being irrelevant to the plot and the rushed, boring ending ARE ALL TRUE. If you are into the following, then please do read the novel.

  • Recurring characters that add nothing to the story? Check.
  • Characters that could be AMAZING if they were detailed upon but only exist for 3 scenes to move the plot forward? Check.
  • Boring plotline? Check.
  • No satisfaction from the b1tch slapping? Check.
  • Useless back and forths that is supposed to be "romantic"? Check.
  • A dry, dull ending? Check.
  • Unexciting twists? Check.
  • Ridiculous twists? Check.
By the end of your reading journey, you also realize that the novel lacks cohesion and fails to provide a clear structure or proper world building / setting development. <<less

It was a really good read. I loved their relationship. I also liked how the system wasn't annoying. For some reason novels have a tendency to make them unbearably annoying and it kills my motivation to read the book.

I see some people complaining about Song Xuanhe but he was probably my favorite character.

I see people bashing him because he's "mean". Well, I don't know what people expected when you can clearly see the "selfish protagonist" and "cold protagonist" tags. They say he's callous and a shitty person but I don't think so. He's made to be a real person. He was dying in his own world and was given two options. Die in his world or follow this little system into a book. He's forced to act like a bad person. That is the character he has taken over in the book. If he doesn't follow his lines, he'll die. That was made very clear. He handled everything so well. I for one, wouldn't have done a good job being stuck in a different world and having to act out a character I don't like. I wouldn't have survived a week there.

Afterwards, when he only has a few scenes left to act, and he still hasn't accepted his feelings, just because he suddenly has more freedom to be himself, does not mean everything is okay. I think this where people wanted to call him shitty. Yes, he was avoidant and didn't want to accept his feelings but he was conflicted as well.

He liked Xiao Yuanmu but he isn't from his world. Although his family and friends are gone in his own world, that doesn't mean it'll be easier to leave the world he grew up in, behind. That's where his parents and his friend still "exist" in a sense. Every time I read about his struggle to decide, I realized he won't ever be able to visit his parents or his friends grave. They don't exist in that world. It was saddening and I don't think people realize how hard it is to leave your world behind. Some readers make it seem so easy, the love of my life is here so wny not stay? It's much more complicated than that. It was completely valid for him to feel conflicted.

The story clearly shows us his internal struggle and the fact that some of the readers still hate on him, tells me they didn't see that. I'm pretty sure it felt stifling and unfair to be put in a position he was in. We read so many of these transmigration novels that I think the readers forget this isn't a normal human experience. Of course bro isn't going to be happy. How he deals with all of the things happening is his own choice and his feelings.
Spoiler

If he wanted to go back to his world, which he didn't, that would be his choice entirely and I don't think anyone should have the right to judge.

[collapse]

Anyway, I liked his character. It was relatable how he found it hard to accept his feelings and having to be exposed with the ML and just learning how to trust him. It's hard for some people to do so.

All in all, it was a really good book. I just wish there had been more fleshed out and prominent female characters. This novel wasn't sexist or anything, just a few lines that were a bit off putting, but nowhere near how other BL novels portray women.

But other than that, this novel was really good and deserving of at least 4.0 stars or more.

Before you start on this novel, let me tell you the tag ‘slow burn’ REALLY TAKING IT TO SERIOUS LEVEL ARGHHH, I love this novel from the bottom of my heart, even this novel was one of my most-progressed chinese novel I've ever read, but unfortunately I stuck at chap 103 because I just can’t bear how Xuanhe (MC) keeps ignoring out ML even though he’s so KIND!!! Love all their subtle affection but cmon man I need more 😭😭😭 as far as I read (chap 103) they even still... more>> didn’t get together!?!?!?!? For me who dive into chinese novel to read all the lovey-dovey scene this fact was so ugh!!! Why don’t we get their daily life chapter and how their life as a couple... 🥲 anyway, i—a self-proclaimed hater #1 slow burn tag— can bear this kind of FREEZE BURN all because I love their trope & our couple’s dynamic. So if you’re asking, is it worth it? I guess you can say it is, if you have time for the really slow burn, I just don’t recommend you to skip all the chapters and straight to the last chapter because their interaction really buried deep in a few scene in every chapter so yeah you may not want to miss it 🧍🏻 <<less

Good book. Good story.

I enjoyed reading it especially in the middle part of the story where you could see Xuanhe interacting with his friends and his complicated relationship with Yuanmu. In any case, the climax of the story was really worth to read.

I've sacrificed sleepless nights to binge read this because the story just hooks me up and I couldn't get enough of it. It was really worthwhile.

I love the development of their relationship and the occasional fluffs although it's unfortunate that there's no smut, nonetheless, the story was still... more>> worth to read.

I'm giving this a 5 star rating and I'm looking forward to read the 3 extras update. Thank you translators for translating this story❤️ and I'd love to give the author a 5 star also☺️ <<less
