I'm glad this got picked up! I already read everything using MTL before and it was a really enjoyable read. It's extremely long, but with how the author set up the reality survival show, every chapter feels fun to read even if not much is happening. (The survival show is being broadcast live and there's an audience section where they'll react to what's happening.)

The MC is OP as hell since she crossed over from a apocalypse setting with a power type ability and the new world she's in has... more>> no such powers. Basically she has the perfect kit and mindset to survive in a wilderness survival show and seeing people react to what she can do is really fun, especially since the MC herself is very likeable.

The romance is slow burn but there's constant teasing moments and sweet moments between the two so it doesn't feel annoying to wait for them to finally get together. The MC and FL are both likeable people and seeing them get close and have misunderstandings and then finally getting together feels like seeing one of your fave ships coming true. There's also a yuri side couple that gets developed later on that adds to the extra flavor.

The survival in the wilderness section is the main course of this story and it was well written. The author paid a lot of attention to little details and while it was kinda slow, each day was filled with stuff to do. It's sorta like watching a slice of life anime except in a wilderness survival. There's also comparisons of how regular people will end up faring vs how the MC's team ends up faring, which adds more entertainment value.

All in all, very much enjoyed immersing myself in this world for all nigh 400 chapters of this story.

I MTL'd this thinking I would drop it mid-way but my expectations couldn't have been more wrong. I read this like I was possessed by some vengeful bookworm spirit for one week straight so much so that I dreamt of the novel while sleeping.

I now go about my daily life, thinking 'Is this how they felt while surviving in the wilderness?' with every minor inconvenience I encounter. I see some random Asian vegetables in the shop and the carton of eggs in my kitchen... What a luxury this would be... more>> in the wild is the thought that goes through my mind. And then I go to the Malatang restaurant and decide to add some duck blood to my bowl to try out because it was mentioned in the novel... This is an illness and I need help.

As you can probably tell by now, there is an exceedingly large focus on surviving in this wilderness in this book and IT'S GREAT. Coupled with the romance, OP MC and the live-broadcast set-up of the reality show, this is is just MWAH *Insert chef kiss*. Not to mention, there are two main lily couples so that's double the fun ohoho.

Below are reasons which made me give this a 5/5:

  1. Couple chemistry: Cute, dense, OP MC x Beautiful, cool, clever FL. Do I need to say any more?
  2. In-depth, fleshed out personalities for the characters. Morality is something which is explored here and it is done very well.
  3. Coverage of both light-hearted and more heartfelt and serious content is done very well. One moment, it's all cruisy and the next, you feel like crying because of the feels.
  4. Plot development. This hit me like a sack of potatoes falling from a skyscraper.
  5. Live-broadcast set-up and CP fans/viewers.
I will add more points if I remember them but dang, what a wild ride this was. <<less

After reading the MTL until brain become paste. The expectation of great slow burn romance plummed greatly. Disclaimer, this is purely personal interpretation story based on MTLing the novel.

Not recommended for someone who hoping story or char development like novel writen by Please Don't Laugh, Min Ran (My feeling can wait) or novel like She is the Protagonist.

Pros:

    • Good overall storyline. And the sci-fi with suspense.
    • The side char is likeable and get good backstory.
    • After chapter 200+, the story become more interesting.
    • Love the side-couple. All-Hail side char!
    • Good concept of playing the morality and nature of humanity.

    • Biggest cons that negate half of the pros: the character development of the FL and MC. FL that suppose a indifferent, cool, clever, and smart feel like teenager. When 2 or 3 day in new env and MC and FL still stranger, FL already become jealous mess and have sometime s*upid tedency (personal hope to see the char dev of melting the ice). The MC is OP and suppose to be a people who already experience 7 year in apocalypse (it's mean she is suppose to have a sense of danger, sufficient insight of the appropriate action in location full of stranger), but no, you get childish borderland naive with tendency of rushing to danger without sense of reading the atmosphere and situation of other. In story it's says that MC is strength type but sometimes the OPness not only apply to strength but to speed too. MC suppose to have complete control of her strength but it's rather questionable when story progressing, like in early chap it says she can feel the cams and in 200+ chap she can't tell. Since the MC and FL is really super major in story to reader, the frustation when reading their though and intercation making the desire to head banging because of s*upidity is sky rocketing.
    • Sometime common sense gone with the wind, like the netizen of advanced world without supper power not questioning the full display of MC opness in strength and the impossiblelity some of MC action.
    • The side char that stay with MC only there to show MC opness most of the time (except when MC is incapacitated). MC isn't a good leader since she is only there to be babysitter and not using their teammate positive ability or trait. But story demand it get praised as good leader yada2.
    • The promised slow burn romance is unsatisfied. The progression of romance direction is like reading shoujo manga.
    • And the survivalist part of story is rather a let down since some of it not consistent with a real world fact.

I liked this for the most part but the author clearly had no knowledge or experience in outdoor survival. Cause I can tell you snakes will be frightened away by loud noises unless you have stepped on them so the advice when walking in snake filled areas is to stomp, talk loudly and/or sing as you walk. This is just the tip of the iceberg with what the author gets wrong and if you have ever been trained in outdoor survival then this part of the plot will drive you... more>> mad. However I do like the relationship between the MC and Fl. One of the sentences I really liked was when the MC says that you can never trust someone you save but the person who saves you is trustworthy because the type of person that saves a life one time is likely to do it again. <<less
