For all people looking to read the ultimate GL novel, LOOK NO FURTHER. 'She is the Protagonist' is a solid 10/5 star read. I am a self-professed novel fiend - I lose interest so quickly that it's amazing and my 'dropped' reading list is a testimony to that. 'She is the Protagonist' is that one shiny gem that has me weeping for more even after reading the epilogue.

Our MC Yu Ru Bing is a walking comedy show that will have you choking in laughter. She is so shameless that it's... more>> great. I have to applaud the author for how they've written her character. I also really love the FL Tang Han Qiu whose character is calm, cool and collected. I have a definite bias for president/CEO characters and have to say that she is my favourite CEO character thus far. Their chemistry is great and the dog food is bountiful. Such beauty. Side pairings and characters are also written very well - there are two other lily couples and it's quite interesting to see the different dynamics between the three couples though mind you, coverage on the side-pairings is significantly less than the main pair. MC's relationship with the system is also very cute.

In terms of the plot, I can say that it is very refreshing compared to other transmigration/system novels that I've read. There are no outrageous skills that are dished out by the system. Instead, the main buff that our MC gets is the female protagonist halo. Additionally, her skills in the entertainment circle aren't unfounded...

She also learns other skills through her own hard work. The universe is written very well - the system universe is explained and the reason behind FL and MC's situations are clearly detailed. Cue the applause!

English translations aren't complete as of yet but my thirst for more chapters was so great that I MTL'd the rest and it was surprisingly of sound quality. Anyhow, I am currently having withdrawal symptoms since finishing this work yesterday and will be reading translations as they come out ohoho. <<less

Why does this gem not have a webtoon adaptation yet? It's so good that a very passive and lazy person like me actually took the time to make an account just to comment in this site and hopefully Amway the heck out of this novel the same way Yu Ru Bing amway the heck out of Tang Han Qiu. I love it so much that this is already my 5th time re-reading it, not including this translated one. Yes, 5th time re-reading it in MTL, that's how much I love... more>> this novel.

Love the story and its characters. Especially its funny troll, Yu Ru Bing, and the ever sensible (overbearing) President Tang Han Qiu. More so Tang Han Qiu because of her attitude of telling others 'no' and stopping people from having ideas that they can pursue her when in fact she already has her eyes on Yu Ru Bing. Other than the main characters, I love the Tang family (not including that one guy) very much as they are very open-minded and respectful, especially the older brother.

The characters in this novel just seem more realistic than most of the characters in similar novels, and while there is drama in this, it is not excessive and cringey. There are instances when I thought the novel would go into cliches and the likes, but the author reverses it immediately. If you're looling for a great yuri story then I really recommend this one. You won't regret it. <<less

The plot was refreshing, the system interaction was refreshing, and I really liked the MCs. I've never read about such an interesting character like Yu Rubing in any of these novels before and her personality alone makes this novel fun to read. I also really liked the development of their relationship from revolutionary friends to mutually pining for each other to finally getting together. It was a really funny and sweet story overall.

Great read, story is sweet and funny. I love MC and FL interaction cute. I love the way MC fight against greentea bit*h who called herself Lord goddess and trying to destroyed and control pitiful villainess. MC's personality is likable, she is great. I like FL too.

For the most part it's pretty good, but f*ck, the romance is s*upidly slow. Like pointlessly slow.

It's pretty funny and has a decent story. But seriously, it's inexcusable that the main couple both love each other, both come up with random excuses to make out with each other and sleep in the same bed while hugging each other, but STILL won't just like get together.

"Oh I'm afraid she's not lesbian" YOU GUYS MAKE OUT CONSTANTLY! And one of the character's asked the other "what would you think if I was... more>> a lesbian" and the other was like "yeah that'd be totally fine I wouldn't mind at all" Come on... It's just silly at this point.

How would the book be worse if they were just a couple already? It's just pointlessly dragging things out, it's really frustrating. I just don't understand at all the reason to keep going on like this. Everyone knows they're gonna end up together, why are you just torturing your characters with clearly baseless insecurity and second guessing. So annoying. <<less

The story is so good that I had to read the mtl because I can't wait to finish it! The plot and characters are so well-written.

The story is well-paced that even though the main conflict of the story ended in 3/4 of the story, you wouldn't get bored. It really took a time before they became lovers but the development is great; it feels so natural. From revolutionary friends, sisters, mutually in love (but too afraid to confess), lovers (PEAK DOGFOOD CONTENT) and to lovingly married couple. For me, the... more>> story is so unpredictable which makes it so different from the other novels. Seriously, they drop bombs unexpectedly.

At first, I thought I wouldn't get long with Yu Ru bing's character because she's an embodiment of online troll lol. However, the author skillfully balanced her trollness and maturity. She became a very lovable and very unique heroine that I will never forget. Also, she's hilarious asf there are times that I couldn't stop laughing.

I just know that Tan Han Qui would be my favorite character. She's like your typical cool President who's very quiet and serious. Her interactions with Rubing increases the comedy value of the scene. She's not an overbearing president, but she's DEFINITELY a doting lover. Even before they became lovers, she's so caring to Yu Ru Bing, and she really makes Ru bing feel secured even us, the readers. Geez, I seriously want a Tan Han Qui in my life. <<less

One who can only helplessly watched her own body perform the acts of a villainess towards the female lead and pursuing the narcissist sh*t male lead, only to finally released herself from the control of the system by committing su*cide after failing to kill the female lead. Returning to the beginning of her future downfall with full control of her own body.

Another who has witnessed the 'villainess' committing su*cide to break out of the system's control but was forced to reborn into the female lead's body with an annoying system... more>> which eggs her to be a white lotus. She dies 24 times only to realize that her efforts were futile as the system can return her to a save point 30 minutes prior to her death.

What happens when the 'villainess' meet the 'female lead' again after being forced to slap the latter? The MC and female lead decided to work together against the system which tried to force the original plot on the MC.

The pair who were initially straight gradually develop crushes for each other while starting their careers - cold, doting president and charming, mature idol. Slow romance. I loved the comedy (eg. MC dissing almost anyone and arguing like a pro), the use of funny internet slang, the plot and the romance pacing of the story.

Spoiler: an epic funny moment of their daily interaction 😆🤣

After the MC and the female lead have acknowledged their relationship to be lovers, the second TV programme requires them to act out as a Father-Son pair for the audience. Usually, the MC runs around calling the system or the sh*t male lead to be her son. (Sort of an insult to be more respected than them)

Tang Hanqiu: "Do you want to be my son?"

Yu Rubing's face darkened: "???"

Is there a problem with my ears???

008 (replacement system) suddenly came out: [Finally.]

Finally after 135 chapters..... the scene is so satisfying.

In gl category, I'm always eager for the scene when they confess after hiding their feelings for so long, I'm glad it was so sooner in this novel.

This is my first GL novel and I'll always remember it, I'm so glad I found this masterpiece.

Language at first was tough to understand but later on it got better (thanks to translator notes)

Guys, can you recommend more yuri novels like this?!

How come I just stumbled upon this gem?? I thought it's gonna be cliche and boring, but it's amazing and actually made me laughed so hard. I love the MC's mouth and blabbers, nicely done and never boring. The translator did such a wonderful job, it's so easy to understand. And the story itself took turns that I never thought it would, and I am great at guessing storylines.

Okay, so im basically obsessed with this novel because number one I really love yuri novels but I don't come across many so when I found this one and read it I loved it right away.

Tang han Qiu the 'villainess' really gives in to mostly everything FL asks of her. At first, she only does this because she and the FL share something in common which is that they're both controlled by the system but as time goes on tang han Qiu gets really smitten by fl. I really love... more>> the build-up of this story it's not fast but it's not slow either it's like in the middle. The FL is really funny which is what I love about this story and tang han Qiu doesn't know it but she always denies it when FL tells her that she's supposed to be like an overbearing president because she's rich but sometimes tang han Qiu can't help but stake her claim over FL and she acts like an overbearing president but FL doesn't say anything about it

I recommend this book 10/10 <<less

Nuanced, ambiguous, and sweet — the way the best yuri is!

The dynamic between the two heroines is both endearing and entirely entertaining, and demonstrates how well matched they are.

And speaking of that dynamic, I love the way the prose will occasionally pivot from emotional scenes into hilarious ones because of Yu Bu Ru Bing's idiosyncratic behaviour (and how Tang Han Qiu simply caters to this).

She subconsciously sought support from Tang Han Qiu's arms, then suddenly hit the brakes, turned her head and cried silently against the wall.

What was this action?

Tang Han Qiu was puzzled: "... Will the wall be more comfortable?"

Yu Ru Bing choked: "Tears are dirty... ... pay... ... can't pay... ... "

Who was Tang Han Qiu? Would she be wearing cheap clothes?

Yu Ru Bing was a poor ghost, so of course she must be vigilant at all times, as not to accidentally lose a family fortune7.

Tang Han Qiu made a calm oh sound, and said, "You don't have to pay for this."

I love this story, the leads are really cute together. It doesn't feel like some surface level attraction that came out of the blue but instead something that grew organically. All the characters have a backstory that actually feels real, instead of random antagonists and insignificant friends. It's all beautifully written, the only downside is that at the pace the translation is going the story will be finished around a year from writing. Fortunately the tl isn't a terrible read so if you're tempted after there's always that. Highly recommend.

Very endearing, I love the way you can feel the connection between the two main characters. The amount of care and tactic understanding between the two is so lovely. The speed at which their feelings develop is not too fast nor is it too slow, it's really rare to find romance novels these days that get this bit right. Plus, the comedy is totally worth it, not once have I been bored while reading this. 10/10 would recommend

Definitely one of my favorites in GL. My only complaint is with the OP female lead who becomes a bit monotonous and boring after so many chapters.

An easy 5/5 story. However, the MC Yu Ru Bing deserves a 10/5.

Without a doubt it's my favorite GL.

I love the protagonists, their relationship is perfect, something you can really expect to happen and not something forced by the script.

Currently the "main" story feels like it's over, so I'm just waiting to see what happens.

the MC was so sooo funny I like how shameless she is to the protagonist

the progress of their relationship so realistic.

after all, it really took so much progress for girls to confess their feelings to each other u know :/ not to mention gxg is rlly rare compared to bxg relationship so it's normal for them to took more than 100 chaps to realise that they love each other!!!!!
