The true story about the life after the fall start at the end of the novel, it is when the writing got philosophical about what life and being trully meant. The end of the novel gave you a bittersweet feeling that left you hanging with its open ending.

Its a good read to kill some time, not too short not too long. Give it a try.

It is a very philosophical novel and much like another person said in their review I felt like the novel was asking me questions about the world that only I could answer. Truthfully, I think a lot of chapters could be skipped and you would still understand a lot of it and a lot of characters felt randomly added, I gave a high rating because I think this novel was more focused towards the philosophical ideas are explored and what is implied rather than what is written. In terms of... more>> genre this novel is what I would consider revisionist. If solo leveling is the conception of the tower climbing/system with op MC genre, the novels that have been following after it have all been the generalization of the genre, such as the killing slimes for 300 years novel/anime, while this novel would then be the revisioning of the genre. I can't wait for more good revisionist novels like this one to come out. <<less

Started reading it becuase of the manhwa. It's boringly generic. It doesnt take long to realize how generic the MC is. Typical bad boy OP MC who is capable of doing everything on his own. Everything up till now has just been a series of MC defeating foes, displaying how strong he is. The combat is either skills or a knock off on one punch man. From the MC, we got a slight stab, normal stab, and power stab. We got 1 special stab so far but I'm sure others... more>> will come in the future. I didnt mention this but MC has that generic, I'm all alone now vibe.

We also got that very annoying feature of a quote at the start of seemingly every chapter. Just some random, nonsensical quote from a random fictional character in the novel talking about something while trying to sound poetic or wise. Quite pretentious imo. <<less

I started reading this novel after finding out it's from the same authors of ORV, and it was actually a nice ride. I sped through 90 chapters in 2 days, and I can't say it's as good as ORV, but it's a really good novel.

It's basically a hit or miss for some people. Some would find the story extremely confusing, but personally I think it's good. Maybe it's just from personal experience with mostly logic-based novels, but it wasn't too confusing for me.

As an MC, I absolutely LOVED Jaehwan. Some... more>> people might have thought he was dull, but I liked the way he thought, especially his principles. You can really say that he has a well built character.

Some people might not like how overpowered the MC is or that he was too strong, but I felt that this only added to the flavor of the novel even more. The parts where they explain how he grew and why it happened was amazingly well done and I liked it.

I'd say the only flaw is that the side characters were a little dull. Not enough to impact the story itself, but some characters (only a little) were flavorless to me.

Overall, 5/5 for the story, 4/5 for the characters, and 5/5 for the writing itself. <<less

The translation is so bad it's difficult to understand what's going on. I've grown frustrated trying to understand what they're trying to describe. Dialog and descriptions are also very basic. Boring because of the translation most likely.

It did seem like an promising story though. If anyone has more patience than me, please leave a review on whether the translation gets better later on.

To be completely honest, I read this novel after reaching chapter 456 of Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint. They are both created by the same author, people told me that ORV actually gained fame due to the author's first novel, TWATF.

I decided to take a break from ORV since it became so boring that I couldn't wait to finish it quickly so that I would know the ending.

I read this novel, I liked it so much in the beginning, until it reached areas where your mind had to constantly work so that... more>> you can actually comprehend the fake reality the author is trying to show us.

The fake reality that he tries to make us picture is so hurtful since it is about learning the truths of the universe. Some might actually get influenced by this novel and believe that this is reality in some other universe.

But, to be honest, I don't want to believe it, the fake reality in this novel is so sad, it is full of sad philosophies, no one would want a reality like that. However, the author is so talented that he actually makes you believe that what he is writing isn't a fiction but something that may be real somewhere that we can not and will never comprehend.

The author is a very talented writer in my opinion, however, not all would like his work, even now I am conflicted, should I like his work because he makes it so realistic that you have to remind yourself "it is just a novel", or should I hate his work because he makes it so realistic that you subconsciously want to believe it.

Overall, I liked it and didn't like it, Ouroboros. (only who read it would know what the hell I am talking about.

I suggest you read it and I don't suggest that you read it, Ouroboros.

Enough with my nonsense, right?

My true feelings tell me to suggest that you don't read it unless you have the ability to get out of the fake-reality quagmire.

Ending is so-so as well since it allows you to imagine what would happen next, which is literally what this novel talks about.

Spoiler

Everything you imagine/dream, think about is a reality somewhere in a parallel/different universe, so the author allows us to continue the story so that multiple universes would be created depending on each ones' imagination...

I don't think it was that amazing of a story. I liked the characters, I liked the main characters journey. It was fun. But what really got me was the ending. I've read a lot of books, it's all I do really. This is the first time the ending of a book has captivated me more after-the-fact than the book itself did. I don't think it was satisfying or unsatisfying. It just made me feel afraid like a weight was suddenly placed on my body. It has stayed on my... more>> mind. No ending to any other book, no matter how great, has just taken hold of my mind. I find myself constantly coming back to it, ruminating over it, thinking about it. <<less

Think about tensei slime, now remove the fluff and maintain the writing quality before it devolved into a battle shounen for babies, where at the final arc, when the eventual philosophycal battles start happening, it really makes you understand the characters motivations, instead of listing an excel table of skills for an entire paragraph, and whoever has less paragraphs of skills is defeated.

surprisingly good at the moment. This story is very much one persons journey and so far it seems like the author is following an outline, rather than just flowing from chapter to chapter based on whim or public opinion, which is a nice change. People have complained about the side characters being flat but keep in mind that they are all adapted to this world; the MC is one of the few that are awake. The other Awakened also seem to have a little more depth to them compared to... more>> those who are just getting by using the system, though not as much as the MC by any means.

i failed to see the annoying woman. So far no woman has stayed with him for very long (the woman from the tower was lost to the tower and the chick he met in chaos parts ways not long after entering the fortress). I'm actually hoping for little to no romance in this story. It's not needed.

there are stats and grinding (especially at the start) which is typical for this genre of K-novel, but there are also those people who learn to step beyond the system, which is unique from any of the other Korean system novels I've read. I'm curious to see if the MC maintains his original goal (to destroy the false world) or if he's going to get side tracked and s**ked into the minutia of "life" inside the illusion; i.e. Sects, power struggles, etc. I also want to see how he grows, now that he no longer has the system.

one last thing, if you dislike very strong OP MCs than you wont like this. He is, so far, the strongest awakened in Chaos, though perhaps not the strongest in the realms (we don't know much about the sovereigns yet). Not sure it will stay at this rating since Knovels tend to go downhill in the second half but for now it's a 5 for me. <<less

I assure all of you readers, worth reading.

Going to a degree of nice quality and real life experienced of what made you changes upon yourself. Main character is truly admirable with experience changes himself that overcome odds and the impossibility again & again. Characters that no plain as role itself, amassed towards understanding the difference of a harsh reality and a very cruel one. Perfectly outstanding story indeed but sadly translator-kun is having problem. Also harsh readers give a painful feedback that lost some composure to translator even though the... more>> story is still at the starting point and I say don' read it any longer you motherf*ck*rs! At least, hope is there to regained translator problem to become stabilized and continuous on.

Spoiler

Its not actually that everyone else return to the past but stuck in a never-ending reality they have of what they want to feel and see in their own world within themselves.

What I'm saying is that their soul is on another realm of their own world while their bodies remain intact with the world never crossed the apocalypse as it continuous on moving normally without any Armageddon event after the Nightmare Tower appeared in the world's cities skies.

The people who choose to enter the tower never actually moved their body but only their soul and the government taken care of the unconscious seemingly comatose bodies of the thousands who choose to enter the mysterious tower floating above the cities sky.

Like I said that those who chooses to go in the past, trapped in a reality set by their own choice. With the hellish tower is nothing more as a Tutorial mode set for the Walkers that binds them to death and challenges. But the protagonist refuse to play any longer as he kill the operator and broke through the hellish game letting the operator failed to his job.

The operator of the Tower is not the only one of himself but there are many of them scattered in the vastness of the Multiverse. They see the potentials in the Walkers in the world they choose that played their game as 'product' and cultivate them into their nasty business in the higher plane.

MC of course is disgusted by that kind of work they're doing as the operator revealed the true purpose to the one and only remaining Walker. What he do? Gouged out the operator, enemy spouting words of disdain and hatred towards MC's consequences of his action to him but hell he won't standby and let them the hell they want so he broke into the ceiling of the Tower which is the entry to where the real hell mode is.

My honest thought, the ovel is quite good. Having read ORV before this, I find some similarities in the plot, specifically the reality part, and the ending part.

However, one thing that I noticed compared to ORV is that, The World After Fall focuses more on one character's journey, Jaehwan, and rarely did it touch the side characters.

Plot rating: 4.0/5.0

[/spoiler] The character growth of Jaehwan is very detailed in this story, ... more>>
Spoiler

from the time he climbs the tower, then traversing Chaos and Depth, then entering Fall, falling out from his world, and then meeting reality, and back to recreating the world - it is very much in depth.
The progression of the story is not too fast to the point that we missed important plot points, not too slow to the point that you just wanna escape the point. It moves on to the next plot point just when it needs to.

Characters: 3.0/5.0

Jaehwan is obviously the main star of this novel. And a very big star. Very big and lonely star. By the end of it, you can hardly find anyone that can match his presence.

Which is kinda sad tbh. I kinda want to see the growth of people around him fleshed out.

Overall: 4.5/5.0
After all that journey of sweet, savoury, sour, bitter, sour, it ends with a bittersweet ending.

The ending makes me kinda hopeful so... mmhmm

I will not lie to you, the ending of this story is not happy. A conclusion comes and the story does not stop there.

MC does not get to stay in the world he created after the fall, and all the implications that come with it for him and those left behind

However I would not call this a read not worth reading. A lot of good scenes, good characters, and a world that always leaves you wanting to know more, go further.

There are ‘silly’ concepts and characters, some who aren’t at all endearing, but what do you expect when given a world with endless possibilities and humans? We’re going to be a little bizarre, a little dumb, a little messed up. I found many of the characters endearing, and I think this is why the ending hits so hard for many.

This book questions everything too, which I found very refreshing. Oruboros was the most rewarding thing to finally understand. <<less

Honestly, this was a pretty good novel. I liked Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint and saw they have the same author for this novel. I gave it a shot and wasn't disappointed. Sure, some might say it gets confusing, or bad quality near the end but it showed me a different perspective.

I saw another commenter (PedoBear Version 2.0) say this, ""The point is, don't look at the ending part from the perspective of "Awakener Jaehwan who killed big brother ", think of it from the perspective of "Jaehwan, the author of The World after the fall""

Hmmmm.. Where do I begin?

In a word, bittersweet?

This book started off with such a promising potential in the first half, to me it was captivating and the tone of the story was set slightly different than most "system-genred" books as ... more>>
Spoiler

it focused on the principle of moving forward with life as it is. That there's no such thing as a re-do as explained in the first 5-10 chapters.

[collapse]

Which is something that intrigued me as most of" system-genred" or reincarnation novels would stress upon knowing and then acting based on preconceived knowledge which takes away a lot of the realism and relatability of the book. Not to say that I don't enjoy reading those books, but just, it makes me feel as if I am just a spectator. Whereas reading this book in the first half made me feel like I was cheering him on beside the MC.

Spoiler

Now with this being said, the ending of book left me with a bitter aftertaste because the tone of the story changed from the principle of persistence to the uncertainty of life. Which was portrayed in different manners within the arcs of the book. But what disturbed me the most was that

[Trigger Warning: SA, su*cide, depression]

At some point, the author alluded to the fact that the MC may have created his world through his defense mechanism and made it seem as if he had schizophrenia, DID, and even was SA by his father, to which then his mother profusely disagreed and to which was revealed that it was never like that in the first place and was made up by one of the characters.

Which made me think that the author slowly lost their point here in trying to be philosophical and also left a bad taste in my mouth because it conflicted with the original idea or what I thought it would be, that the character lived in the now. But was then denied of that reality but suddenly given back and now is left with confusion and also took a very strange stance of people who are neurodivergent and mental health care industry.

This was where it went south for me.

[collapse]

Overall I think the author got lost in their original intention and just ended it in an open-ending because there was no way to tie that many loose ends.

Translation was fantastic, writing could be confusing for some if you aren't into literature or philosophical exposé.

Though, looking forward to other works by this author as I did quite enjoy the style of writing. <<less

I feel like Nothing happens and MC is just waaaaaay too strong. So im dropping it for now maybe I will pick it up again later. Also not sure if its my Translation or not but certain names are always left as a blank space which is really annoying. I dont mind not revealing the Name but please Mark it somehow with something like [ ] or " ". It really disrupts the reading flow.

Really enjoyed the novel. For the most part it was well done, I think a few more chapters at the end would have been nice. However I would say it's worth reading, nothing really bad about it other than some slow fights and parts (takes nothing away from the novel.).

I liked the ending with him going "crazy". Also I thought the book got better the closer to the end you got. (Nice open ending)

I binged it in two days, and it's pretty good I'd say.

The first couple chapters definitely did not spark my interest, the world view is big and introduced in a rush, and I don't understand a lot of things at first. The MC seemed too OP and although it's pretty interesting, it soon became boring. Nevertheless, I kept reading on as if I know the plot will get better the more I read. And surely it did.

The previous chapters seemed just like a rushed prologue to set the stage for... more>> a greater world view in my opinion. The fights became more challenging, the world setting became clearer, and I love the writing style more and more. The story begins to unfold with richer details and more like a 'story'. It even introduces some concepts that makes me take a break from reading to ponder on. It's an amazing ride that kept me intrigued throughout.

Nevertheless, I must say I do not understand the story fully, especially towards the ending. It could well be because I didn't put in enough time to think it through, but I kind of feel like it wouldn't make more sense to me even if I put in the time. And from what I understand, I do not like the ending of this grand story. But that could be just me though, as I seldom read webnovels whose ending satisfied me. <<less
