I’m not an avid fan of yuri novels but I’ve always tried my best to judge them fairly. The majority of yuri novels I have read are full of fluff, yuri logic, and have zero plot. Meanwhile, The Witch Nichang is almost the exact opposite.

The story begins as such, the main character transmigrates into the body of of a young girl named San’er. While living in the mountains with her family she happens to treat and Wuxia master and eventually the MC begins her journey as the the wuxia master’s... more>> disciple.

I found the MC quite refreshing. She has a calm disposition which contributes to her being able evaluate on other people’s feelings.

Even though I find the FL a bit boring, she really cares for the MC in her way. She’s tenacious with a touch of naivety, while the MC is calm and reserved.

Be prepared for a plot and angst <<less

So this is a GL take on the Legend of the Female Bandit (Lian Nichang), google it if you're not familiar with the story. It's a slow burn so far, and I can't wait to see our main characters fall in love. Will Lian Nichang meet and still fall in love with Zhuo Yihang first though? Need to continue reading to find out.

Translations are great and easy to read, keep up the good work!

One of the best GL novels i've read so far, the relationship between the MC and FL is awesome. Especially the MC, you can really resonate with her...i'd say the she's one of the most realistic characters i've ever seen in a reincarnation/trasmigration novel, her feelings about this reincarnated life, atleast for me, are what an actual person would probably experience at first if it ever happened to him/her. It's not a lighthearted read for sure, and what you'll experience reading it is the same as in life, happiness and... more>> sadness, joy and sorrow... maybe even cry a little...

Thankfully it's a happy ending for the main couple, so for those of you that can't stand sad endings like me, don't worry about it, after all the hours reading you won't feel like shit.

I'm speechless. I read this from the latest English translation till the incomplete Extra chapters in MTL (oh, how tr*sh the mtl translation was, but it didn't stop me from getting shook by feelings) and I'm just in love. This novel is a master piece in my books and if it ever gets published in English, I will be the first one to slap the author with my money.

Really atmospheric story with excellent translation and a solid storyline. It reads like a legend and takes place over many many years, the FL and and MC are very distinct and likeable for different reasons. Together they compliment eachother quite well!

This is a small preliminary review as I'm reading along with the English translation which isn't very far yet. The MC transmigrates from our world and becomes a child, growing up as the disciple of a secluded cultivator. Her only fellow disciple Lian'er is a wild and decisive little girl but the MC recognizes from her past life that Lian'er is destined to become a legendary warrior whose life will have a tragic ending. Their relationship at this point is still a sisterly one as they're still young but I'm... more>> looking forward to the slow burn and angst that I'm sure will develop. Also intrigued by their shizun's mysterious backstory.

So far, the author is good at pacing the novel so that each chapter has enough incident to be interesting although the overall plot progression is still slow. I think this book has a lot of potential, so a good one to camp on if you're looking for an in-progress translation to follow (the TL is well written, though updates are on the slower side). <<less

A Great story about a Transmitigrator who isn't OP.

The MC makes alot of mistakes, she comes to regret decisions she makes during her life. Yet she's likeable, she has kindness, compassion and also sometimes ruthlessness. However the part of her I like the most is that she's so human.

The FL on the other hand is OP, she's very much a Cultivation novel protagonist and thats kinda the point. I find her unlikeable personally, but she gets better as the novel progresses.

Aside from their Master, there's not much to mention here. Nothing bad nor outstanding.

Recommended? Yes! Atleast I enjoyed reading it alot. And I find myself wishing we had more MC's like the one in Nichang. Flawless omnipotent MC's can get boring :P <<less

Well, this is one of my favorite Yuri novels. Though sometimes the story doesn't make sense (maybe it's cause of my poor English), overall I really enjoy reading this novel. It made me anticipate what'll happen next. I wish the chapters could be updated fast. But Thanks for the chapter anyway.

This is so good so far. I love how the MC and FL balance each other out with their personalities. MC is calm and collected, very introspective while the FL is temperamental and brash. I even love the Master who acts like a tsundere but truly cares for her disciples. Of course, since I can only follow along with the pace of the translations there hasn't been much development so far in terms of romance between the MC and FL. The world building is also pretty sparse because they are... more>> living in a mountain and separated from much of the world. I tried to read more through MTL but it all read like nonsense and was too much for my brain to parse through. Really wish the translations were a bit more consistent because this is definitely a gem from what has been translated so far. The writing is excellent, gives you a good sense of how the MC thinks and why she acts the way she does. I can't wait for more but with over 200 chapters this will probably take 3 years to be done :' ( <<less

It's a pretty complicated novel. It has more internal dialogue than the outside world. The author really tried to preserve the authenticity of the original as much as possible, but he worked out almost completely the characters of the main characters. As I understand it, our MC is the prototype of the original teacher Nichang was in love with and married. I think so. Perhaps, in principle, this is not the case.

It also seems that the novel is not quite finished. That is, the main thread is yes, but there... more>> are still missed points on behalf of FL.

I really liked the novel. He causes a storm of emotions. But he's not simple. The author tried to carefully walk through the topic of love, and even separated the characters for a while. But the MC's internal conflict on this topic is something that was really well spelled out. You don't judge by reading, but you understand.

In general, I highly recommend this novel to everyone. But it's definitely not for everyone. Just like the original. I think this is what the author was also trying to convey through his novel. Preserving the canny melancholic type of narration and the complexity of the development of relationships.

And be prepared that the MC will often take damage. I do not know how else FL could have patiently saved her for so long and not strapped her to the bed forever ahaha
