So I would rate this about a 3.5 star story.

The good points.

All the super-creepazoid sect members, the grandmaster, the dude from the demonic cultivation sect and any ones that I've forgotten but fell in love/became obsessed with the MC got what was coming to them and it was a lot more than a little face slap.

They kept trying to brainwash (among other things) the MC into being a good little boy, but even when they messed with his head, he didn't lose the emotions and instincts that told him they... more>> were all bad people not to be trusted again.

The MC eventually developed the confidence to deal with his enemies on his own, even though he still let his friends help him destroy them.

The bad points.

The ML is a couple cards short of a full deck. He does love the MC sincerely and doesn't lie to him (basically) but he's not that bright and has no interest in learning. He's a tsundere and has a tendency to bully the MC into s*x. He's gruff/mean to anyone who wants to get close to the MC so the jealousy flows deep.

I mean, 49 STRAIGHT DAYS ?!?! I don't care how good a cultivator you are, it's a freaking miracle the poor MC survived and can still walk!

The story in question initially appears to follow the cliché of the protagonist's masters and shixiongs seeking redemption, but it surprises by deviating from this path. This novelty is one of the highlights of the narrative, which is full of good ideas and demonstrates the author's creativity, although some of these ideas are not fully explored.

The relationship between the protagonist (MC) and the love interest (ML) is well-developed. Although the ML has a possessive tendency, he knows how to respect boundaries, making the relationship enjoyable to follow. Additionally, the MC's... more>> friends are charming characters who bring moments of lightness and humor to the story.

However, the narrative has its flaws. The author seems to struggle with describing scenes clearly and transitioning smoothly between them, especially at the beginning of the story. Fortunately, this improves as the plot progresses. One aspect that might bother some readers is how frequently other characters fall in love with the ML, which, despite being a central element of the story, can feel exaggerated.

The most frustrating point, however, is a specific arc that lasts a little over 10 chapters. This arc adds nothing relevant to the story and could be completely ignored without impacting the main plot, serving only to irritate the reader. This aspect alone led me to lower the story's rating to 3 stars.

In the final chapters, there are moments of intimacy between the MC and the ML that seem very inopportune and out of context, which may displease some readers and make the reading experience less enjoyable.

Despite these issues, the story has many positive points and is worth reading, especially if you choose to skip the mentioned arc.

Listing my reading experience of this book :

    • Somehow I didn't understand what's happening in 20 first chapters lol. I think my brain was adapting to author's writing for this novel, bcs I didn't have this problem with author's other books.
    • Before reading, my expectation was 60% drama-angst, 40% romance. What I got is 60% slice of life-light heart romance-travelling, 40% drama-angst.
    • Honestly, MC, ML and their friends are so funny and wholesome. Especially in later chapters where it is more into their slice of life and child raising.
    • MC just want to leave the sect and didn't want to have anything to do with people in his previous life. So even though there are angst and regret of his senior brothers in the current life, it is not the main star/their karma process isn't the main star. Just a notice for readers who read this book looking for dog blood.
    • The sense of toolman is strong for the supporting characters hahaha. The real MVP is Baili, I love him but dude really is just a helper for the main couple throughout the story.
    • Every characters are distinct and interesting (especially MC's friends). I love all the supporting characters and found family vibe between MC ML and their group. How ML loves chicken, listening to praises, playing hooligan but sometimes so innocent. How Baili is so kind and mischievous. How funny Huaye is as #1 fan and supporter of MC and trying to pit ML. How Qingheng is so done by all of them sometimes. I won't complain if author makes the extras longer and only about their daily life. Honestly I prefer the extras bcs they are more funny and enjoyable than main story, in my opinion. The modern IF is fun too.
Problem :

  • My problem with this book is idk what is its focus in earlier chapters. Like every possible focus isn't strong enough to be called the theme of the story (is it about slice of life? Is it about how MC moving on? Is it about karma/dog blood?). I mean you can have all of these elements, but you need to delivered/executed it well.
  • Sometimes events that happened feel so impulsive AND not really have important impact in the end (which is I often see in xianxia novels, so common problem).
So based on 2 problems above, it could be boring & feel lost when you reach 2/4 of the story.

Everyone is just pining after MC, the title is right when it say the whole sect is acting strange, because it was really strange how everyone has dark thoughts about him.

ML is a flood dragon which I didn't expect so it was budding kindergarten love that is learning slowly and MC is just tolerating it and you step by step how it goes.

There's also foxes companions, MC want to leave and travel which is good, I wouldn't want to stay with these strange Senior brothers and masters.

This is nothing what... more>> I had in my mind from reading the synopsis, I thought it was going to be a redemption story where everybody would change their views on MC in this life and loves him in this life, No they were really hopeless to begin with and shouldn't be forgiven. ML should take MC away faraway from this group of lunatics <<less

This story is not emphasizing on romance. If you look for romance this story is not for you. But if you like story about abused victim getting a better life, try to read this. There's also some sort of 'revenge', if ignorance can be called a revenge.

It is about one's journey to get better from his trauma and then get to meet his found family (?). Some parts of the story can be bland or feel like a filler episode, but I quite enjoyed it.

The CP is rather weird for... more>> me. Their mental maturity doesn't match. I don't particularly enjoy their romance but it's tolerable. <<less

Woahhh reincarnation etc there's more to the story. And yeah I dont like his senior brothers, Go MC in making your distance to them. Do give time to ML to learn hahaha he just shed his skin and needs to learn about emotions. MC bottom line keeps getting low with Ml's cuddle and kisses. Stopped at 92 will continue after translation finished

its really good but wasn't entirely my cup not tea.

i was expecting something a little bit more cliche but this story went 180 on me lol.

id put it in slice of life genre.

idk, also the characters seem to be very shallow, not much description,... just there.

not much comedic relief or explanations either

,... bland

but the translations are really good tho.
