I'm honestly quite shocked at how little attention this got on NU. It's a very stellar eSports novel, and I truly enjoyed watching Mix and JZY strive for their championship. To be quite honest, I loved the characterization and the hilarious banter between everyone is absolutely spot on. JZY and MHF have a lovely dynamic and honesty I loved how they teased and joked with each other even before getting together. If I were to be honest, JZY had me legitimately smitten. A cheeky smooth talker with a huge playful... more>> side but still had manners and a good heart? I wasn't jealous of JZY for having MHF but MHF for having JZY!

That said, there's a lot of time skips which could be a plus or minus, they basically skipped months of training which I don't mind because those can be a drag when reading. I do think the tournament was a little underwhelming and that there were loose ends (like Xiao feeling bad and basically giving up his seat for JZY, the absent parents, etc) that could have been addressed but the author basically washed their hands of the story by the end.

Overall, it's a good story and the characterization and banter are some of the best I've ever read. The story does drag a little sometimes and concludes quite abruptly and quickly, with the epilogue ending on a vague timeskip, which feels like the author got tired of writing. Even so, it's a pleasure to read and one I truly do recommend. <<less

It's ok I guess? Pretty good if you just want to read something fast and it's hilarious all the way through. Was just a little disappointed with the lack of world-building, character building, and the ending, which I kinda hoped

Spoiler

would have continued with what happened after they won and how they handled being the first out and gay couple in Chinese esports if not in international esports that didn't also have to quit because of it but no the moment they win the last match in the international competition it goes straight to the epilogue which was nice but kinda bland.

[collapse]

You don't get to know much about the ML's background other than he's rich af and you only lightly touch upon the MC's past which was still really nice to learn more about him but I wish they explored it for both more.
Spoiler

His parents are both doctors and hella busy so he and his sister grew up mostly by themselves, I kind of wish they explored this more because it would have been really interesting but it's mentioned less than the amount of fingers I have on one hand and only very briefly.

[collapse]

Let's not even talk about the side characters, they're there purely to support the main characters and for the comedy benefits. Don't get me wrong I love them but their characters aren't put much into detail other than their comedy act which while hilarious, doesn't really help much with their character growth, which is like 0
Spoiler

With the exception of like Brother Xiao and maybe the manager if I stretch it but those are almost purely to support the main characters, like the MC noticing the Brother Xiao was trying really hard to get over his injury and feeling bad about it, etc.

[collapse]

The writing was decent, if a little amateurish, which wasn't bad just makes the story a very simple read which is nice if that's what you're looking for. If you're looking for a gaming focused novel this can be considered it, but while the beginning came on relatively nicely but as we get further in the novel a lot of the training and gets skipped and the actual gaming is quite simplified unlike TKA which needs like 3-4 chapters to get through one match against one team, since it's main focus is on the relationship.
Spoiler

Also like, gotta ignore some of it because I'm pretty sure that not that many teams just up and surrender after one game, one was already one too many but I think it was like 3 times? Bro you only lost 1 game of 3 and you're giving up just like that? Wouldn't happen irl in a competition like that.

[collapse]

But also, going with gaming, the MC is a little too unrealistic?
Spoiler

This kid is majoring in law and still somehow passing while also training but still less than the team but is still improving at astonishing speeds which I get is because he's a main character but still. It was nice when he finally took a year off of school but he honestly should have just done it earlier because there really wasn't any meaning to him staying in school (it's only barely mentioned other than him complaining about exams that he has zero time to study for and he's only gone to class one week in an entire semester and a few other scenes like that. There's very few scenes in general involving his university after it's first introduced). but I guess the author wanted to show off how quick his growth was anyway despite these setbacks? Who knows.

[collapse]
You're going to have to not look too hard is all I'm saying.

ALSO
Spoiler

speaking of that guy's major, why is he still only a livestreamer after getting a law degree in the epilogue? I'm not dissing on the job at all but the MC has literally said in the novel that if not for making money why would he be a livestreamer and that he liked learning about law so like???? It just doesn't match up with previous novel chapters which kind of made me upset.

[collapse]

The way they get together is also only cute if you don't look into it that deeply, I did however so it just makes me slightly uncomfortable even if they're still really cute.
Spoiler

Look, the MC is very straight (or thinks he is lol) and that's like a running gag in the entire story (his nickname is NoHomo because that's what his original livestream was named) and he's so painfully naive to the ML's approaches (which btw we don't ever get to know exactly WHY the ML likes him, he just... does? Just like "oh a cute puppy w chunni syndrome" and bam insta love). But the ML doesn't even properly confess he just like kisses the MC and is like "you should know what I mean you have until 6 PM to give me an answer" bruh if it wasn't for the plot and the sister's manipulation in the background the MC really would not have gotten it at all.

Which speaking of manipulation, YEAH I disliked the sister and ML going behind the MC's back to make them get together. I get that it's supposed to be funny and like aww look the sister is so supportive, such a great matchmaker, but like the MC has said previously that he was straight and doesn't like guys and she's just like "haha nah ur gay imma nudge you in the right direction". Like yeah ok he's never liked any girl before but that doesn't mean he's automatically gay what's with that logic? It irked me that when he was confused when the ML just kissed him outta nowhere (for him at least, literally idk how he's so dense) and the sister is legit just like "Well if you're not averse to the kiss it must mean you like him!" like sorry what that's not how this works, at all. But guess what, the MC, dense idiot he is, believes it and is like "yup I'll date you" to the ML. Other than that though I quite liked the sibling relationship between the MC and his sister, it was pretty funny and sweet but the way she tried to get him with the ML was kind of aggravating and I can't get over it.

[collapse]

Again though, if you're looking for a fast, sweet novel about two gamers being a couple and winning matches here you go, remember on your way to not look into things too hard like I did or you'll get an aneurysm. <<less

This novel is really really cute, all the side characters are adorable and sassy, I really love their interactions! There has been no typical annoying character and the girls we’ve seen so far are hilarious, which is different from many other bl novels where the girls tend to be quite lackluster or just plain b*tches.

The translation quality is great and due to the fact that this is being translated on webnovel there are 2 updates a day (although I’m still craving for more and hoping for a mass release ?)... more>>

The chapters are free still and I recommend this to anyone who likes bl gaming novels or cute bl novels, because I’m so so in love with the vivid characters and their interactions! <<less

Based on the reviews I saw here, I thought that the story have so many plot holes and the sister would be very unlikable since many have said that she lied and such to MC. But its all wrong. The sister is the best wingman there is and there are some plot holes inthe story but not that bad. What thing this story lack is a proper ending and more connected extras lol.

Overall, this is a story not worthy of a 3.9 ratings. In my opinion, it should be atleast... more>> within the ratings of 4.

This story is recommended for those who does not like too descriptive e-sports and leans on reading more fluff. <<less

I rated this 5 stars due to me having a bias for e-Sports yaoi novels but objectively speaking, this one is only slightly above average. The huge boon of this novel is that the dynamics of the characters are good, and they do not tend to have their personalities to fall flat. You also only need basic knowledge of gaming to read this, as the author did not use much of gaming jargon. The story might be a little bit too short, and it could've done better with more chapters... more>> and better pacing but this is still a light read. More extras would've been nice, but I am happy with the ending. <<less

I'm sorry but the writing style is pretty amateurish.

ML kind os annoys me with how he kind of edgelord the 17 previous chapters so far. I think he was described as cool and aloof? What I'm seeing is just him being childishly angry almost all the time...

The game itself was kinda weird? Is this a new game or is it based on real MOBA game?

I'll try to read up to chap 20 to see if it's improve, if not then bye-bye.

The translation is already completed, its only in locked chapters amd I dont know if the novel is worth it.

It has a a HE but it was kind of disappointing especially when you already expect that ending in a esports novel. This has a lot of description of the games and training of the MC and I appreciated that.

There are some sweet romance but it has a sort of subplot feel, the banter is quite funny but it wasnt enough to make the story memorable.

And there is a slightt ... more>>

There wasn't a lot of gaming aspects in this story but it was still a good read from the "battles" between the MC and his friends, sibling, teammates and the ML. There were also a lot of exposure on the bad things that can happen in the the E-Sports world but it wasn't done in detail nor were there any showcasing of the end result.

Reccomended to people that don't know a lot about gaming and ones that want to read from this genre but as a light read. (◍•ᴗ•◍)

I felt that I needed to write a review for this novel because the rating is really too low for how it is.

First of all, I gotta say that this novel is not perfect. My rating is truly more of a 4.5-4.75/5 because of its flaws, but it's still quite a good novel and a fun read!

I also have to say that this novel is NOT focused on the romance. It is far more focused on the gaming aspect and competition, and regarding the couple, other than flirtatious banter and... more>> a couple cute, funny moments, there really isn't much to show in this novel. That being said, I didn't mind that! Because to me, it was clear from the beginning that this wasn't going to be super romantic and fluffy but far more concerned on competing and exciting games. It also never tries to be both, which to me, is a huge plus (I have a bone to pick with shounen manga/novels that randomly try to shove in romance in the middle... totally ruining the momentum of the story).

I think the novel in general is very fun, has exciting moments, and can be quite comedic because everyone is strong in the bants department. I also think the pacing is really quite good and steadily makes progress in a way that feels both believable but not too slow.

My only issues are that the ending (literally the last 10 chapters or so) was wayyy too rushed for my liking and didn't give a nice relaxed conclusion for everyone and the couple, and the translation while pretty good does have some mistakes here and there in character names, grammar, and word choice. I did also notice the lack of character development/every character was kept pretty simple, but to me, I don't think it took anything away from the novel/story as a whole.

Other than that though, I do recommend this novel to people who like reading about gaming (competitions), whether you have an opinion on BL or not.
Also, people who don't like reading yaoi, the fact of the matter is, this novel is more of a shounen ai. Nothing more than a kiss and a slightly ambiguous scene is described in the novel, so your innocence will not be tainted. Please rest assured. <<less

I'm just coming back to write a review after seeing the still poor ratings of this novel, so not too clear on the story right now. I'm just astonished that this novel has such low exposure and such poor ratings.

Yeah, can't actually write a review because I don't remember specifics at all, but just here to show my support for people to read this.

Definitely recommend.

How I hope this one will be forever free in webnovel. So far the story is entertaining and the characters have actual personalities. It's the usual trope of ML being OP in his area of expertise but not perfect at all areas at all, haha. The MC is likeable, practical (game broadcasting is his way of earning money while waiting for college and is actually attending one now in the story) and his inner commentaries are hilarious.

Anyway, looking forward to more chapters, especially now that ML is slowly luring MC... more>> to join his pro gaming team, lol. (Who are those that rated this 1 star? It's not what this story deserves) <<less

Why is this underrated? I've scoured a bunch of e-sports yaoi list and I've never seen this included.

Anyway, here are some few points I've seen from the novel:

Characters. Actually, what got me into this is not the gaming aspect, but the characters itself. It's pretty interesting at first, especially the interactions with MC and ML. ML has a sharp tongue and gives the impression of black-belly... Meanwhile, MC, I don't think he's very notable among other e-sports protagonist? For example, Wei Xiao from 'Glory' can be described with one... more>> word: Shameless. Jiang Rong from 'I Can Do It' and Shi Lou from 'FOG', a tr*shtalker. Meanwhile JZY here was described as... someone who plays dirty tricks and spout obscenities. HOWEVER I couldn't remember instances where he actually stood out doing that. He's pretty... normal with subtle naivety.

The gaming aspect. Not much. Details were kind of vague, there's barely uses of gaming terms, team battles are cut short, in short, I couldn't get the same excitement or thrill that I get from other e-sports novel I've read. The kind of vivid story telling where you feel like you're actually playing alongside them. Perhaps a little more research would do for the author for a better portrayal of e-sports scene.

Romance-wise. I think it's more focused on this aspect actually. It's kinda cute, especially the bantering between MC and ML, when they're just like flirting with each other 😂 Plus, everyone are comfortable talking about being openly gay LOL. But the romance kinda dragged on by the middle, I really thought they're gonna get on with it fast.

Overall, it's a decent and light hearted read. Probably just a little polish on the side of the author, but not a bad writing. I hope everybody can give this a chance. Cheers! <<less

Uhmmm so after reading for a 2nd time (skimming mostly) since I have already read it. This is kinda boring formt the start. It was the build up of the team due to Jungler (Xiao) injury. MC will be the reserve jungler. Anyways their life as esports players and slowly coming to the top. Well thats all. Not all exciting just funny sometimes with their tr*shtalking

The first time saw this bl novel with 224 ch I was like forget I will not have any patience to complete it. But I really regret not reading it at that time. Even though it has about 200 ch while I read it, it was like one chapter is divided into two parts.

At first I thought that MC was a bit childish and an idiot but later on when Yao improve his skills and has a lot a character development. As of ML he is strong but not OP... more>> as for his character he is like our usual BL novel MLs. <<less

Soft, Fluffy and Cute. Lovely characters, Good plot, Great translation. Pure fluff, no drama. Overall really great. I just can't believe how little attention it got. Cute. Not a lot of dog food though. Very low-key flirting but it's sweet and nice. Esp if you like gaming novels. Don't think too much though if you're a fan of esports and know exactly how things go.

Just enjoy it. It's a good ride. And the translation isn't too bad. I generally give 5 star as long as the translation is readable without giving me a headache. As long as an overall good story.
