The Chronicle of the Dungeon Master of Slaughter – A Reclusive Beautiful Girl Became a Dungeon Master, So She Pursues the Path of a Hikikomori

Description

The incomparably beautiful girl, “Mamori Honjo”, continued to be seen through lustful eyes by boys due to her beauty, and through jealous eyes by girls. Boys turned into stalkers one after another, and she faced extreme bullying from girls. As a result, Mamori developed a fear of humans and began to tread the path of a hikikomori.

One day, while she continued her hikikomori lifestyle, a crazy stalker entered her home, which was her sanctuary, gripping a knife. The stalker mu*dered her parents, and Mamori herself was on the verge of losing her chastity. In desperate resistance, she ended up killing the stalker.

After such a horrific experience, Mamori lost consciousness and before she knew it, she was summoned to a different world.

When she woke up, there was a small cave and a glowing blue crystal called a “Dungeon Core” in front of her. Upon touching the Dungeon Core, Mamori inadvertently became a being called a “Dungeon Master” who was responsible for growing the dungeon. She made a resolve. She would create an impregnable labyrinth where no one could trample on her anymore, and perfect her reclusive lifestyle there!

And so, Mamori mercilessly slaughters any intruders who set foot into her dungeon, transforming into the strongest hikikomori. . . or rather, the strongest Dungeon Master.

it's a novel about an MC who has practically had only experienced the dark sides of humanity and had withdrawn from society - until it still reached her and punished her.

After this MC has practically given up. She no longer feels any attachment to humanity or any sympathy to them. She only wants to withdraw away into her sanctuary and never be disturbed, and will do it at any cost.

She is tragic, even if she is not meant to be sympathised with.

Throughout this story she has done many many many... more>> awful things.

It'a refreshing to read about such an evil protagonist - one who doesn't justify herself, one that isn't purely evil and one that has nuance.

The story itself was pretty unteresting and kind of short. I really liked it <<less

Slight spoiler warning.

I was going to give it a 4, but seeing some reviews "blasting" this for having a very selfish MC made me change my mind. These people saying they like evil MCs is like every author putting "comedy" as one of it's novel tags: the jokes are mediocre at best and you've seen them a thousand times before, and the evil MC is a mediocre version of evil: has to have some sad backstory, becomes good, or gets a harem and becomes extremely generic, yada yada.

Now onto the... more>> actual novel.

Pros:

The author is really unrestricted and unafraid with his writing. Usually, evil MCs are restrained from acting in certain ways, like the author's afraid that the police will come knocking if they write something slightly more over the line (which might actually happen to a chinese author, but this is a jp one).

If a normal evil MC novel is like playing skyrim's dark brotherhood questline, this is like playing skyrim with the "killable children" mod.

This is possibly the most selfish and evil main character I've ever seen.

The main character feels zero empathy to characters in similar situations. She doesn't even "We're not so different, you and I", she just sees all humans + most thinking beings as enemies. When she sees a certain character get caught and goblin gangbanged, she just thinks it's disgusting and looks elsewhere. Doesn't save her or anything.

I quite like MCs who cover up their face.

Cons:

I've seen over a thousand books and I don't think a single one was this daring and nonchalant with it's dark plot, so that might put you off. To me, it felt extremely strange reading it. One novel/manga/anime that pulled something similar to this off extremely well is "Youjo Senki". Would recommend.

One true con that I believe this novel does have is that it's written in a Japanese style. That sort of lighthearted (?) way of writing doesn't fit the sort of story the creator is telling us.

The shift between just a hikikimori and whatever she'd be called now is quite abrupt. I suppose it's also possibly an effect of her race becoming dungeon master and viewing everything through monitors and this "dungeon sense". <<less

Can not recommend it.
This is basically torture p*rn only for those with severe mental issues.

Be warned: No graphic description of violence, r*pe or gore in the novel so far.
But there is an apparent extreme premise of severe r*pe and brutality against "the intruders" of the dungeon (women, youth, regular people with no evil intent) as plot drivers to empower the MC. MC (the extension of the author) show no resemblance of reflection or empathy in an MC who was supposedly traumatized by assault, r*pe attempt and abuse by their peers. The author of this novel seriously needs a psychologist. Disgusting.

The background story of a traumatized and damaged female MC was introduced in chapters 1 and 2. This setting was instantly dropped from chapter 3, and from then on there's no resemblance of character development or mental progress to cope with the trauma MC went through as part of their backstory.
The only "progress" is the dungeon building and the excuse to isolate themselves even further away from humanity.

Jump into it at your own leisure if you're into inhumane, disgusting wish-fulfilment by a deranged author, and you yourself are likewise just as deranged.

She decides her s*ave half-elf is not so bad and decides she'll take full responsibility of him, but she also keeps him around because he is a s*ave and considers him a pet, and mostly to be reassured that he will not ever betray her because of both the s*ave mark and his feelings towards Mamori.

[collapse]

Gory descriptions and gratuitous torture are everywhere, this is basically revenge p*rn and not really a dungeon building novel since it picks that up in the beginning but becomes instead "how to make sure that I stay a hikkomori forever? Since I had to help the bad guys lets just help them defeat the heroes then."

I quite liked it since it does do what it's in the tin, and no apologies for anything. <<less

I enjoy this novel a lot because the story contains an actual MC who doesn't turn into a goody-shoe in a couple of chapters so it's a breathe of fresh air for me.

And so far, I'm loving it.

I also love how ruthless the MC is lol.

So yeah, if you want a change of pace and wanna see the "bad" guy winning, then read this.

I thought this will be a good dungeon novel but apparently not.

Other characters just bland even they are expert and some of them are noble. They enter the dungeon and die easily just to make the MC stronger. And the plot just like that as far as I read.

I really hate this protagonist. I know that she's gone through a lot of sh*t to become the way she is, and while I understand that, that doesn't mean I have to like her. I'm always down for a bloody romp from a ruthless MC, but this one just takes it entirely too far. Read this if you either don't have a conscience or are able to set it aside, as for me; dropped.

Hmm, is the MC a callous monster with no conscience? I don’t think so. Rather, I think it’s odd that this is one of the few, if not only, dungeon master and/or “on the side of the monsters” stories where the MC is willing to be this ruthless.

Don’t get me wrong - the “Lazy Dungeon Master”-type stories where they end up with friends (er, a harem rather) and fluffy animals can be a fun read. But letting allies into your dungeon core room is a naive move, and letting enemies... more>> go merely because they’re fellow humans is short-sighted. This MC is appropriately and realistically ruthless.

Spoiler

If you made enemies in your previous world and then were isekai’d into a dungeon situation, only to realise that you were considered one of the conquerable enemies of humanity even though you just wanted to be left alone... why would you ever provide mercy to anyone who could tell of your location? And you aren’t their former classmate who could provide a second chance at humanity and friendship - you’re now considered training fodder, so why wouldn’t you squash your fellow isekai’d classmates like ants while they’re thankfully still weak?

[collapse]

This is almost like a “Tensei Slime was a cute little story about someone who learned to be ruthless because they realized that humans can be bad and betray you... but what if he’d realized that from the very beginning and never gave them the chance?” anti-hero story. I loved it. <<less

just like the other review above already said MC is absolute Evil mu*der psychopath, because Trauma that her experience before got isekai, a stalker that literally massacre her family and try to r*pe her.

please understand that before jumping and make bad review.

the story is good if you like traumatic shut in female lead that massacre anyone dare to : come in her dungeon, just touching her a bit, stare at her face for few seconds, literally.

and ofc MC become evil because "she is dungeon master, with very terrible experience In Real life.

the author take the story seriously, a dungeon master act as dungeon master and kill anyone dare to enter her dungeon, good or evil person.

this is not a tipical tr*sh dungeon master harem tr*sh that " oh im dungeon master, I must be kind to my dungeon invader, kill my underling / hurt my underling is fine because MC s*upid brain dead tr*sh and make harem ".

no no no no NO, Not like those tr*sh, a literall dungeon master play her role as true dungeon master, absolute Evil to the core, No redemtions.

did you play dungeon keeper or dungeon master like games ?

yes like those game, ofc you don't want any invader inside your dungeon, you give "ZERO" MERCY.

this novel is not for people with very weak heart and like tr*sh isekai, the MC it self already tell you at first chapter she have social anxiety disorder issue " For Really Big Good Reason, remember the stalker ? " People make her into monster.

if you have a daugher being shut in, ask her why she have social anxiety disorder issue have a good chat as family, not force her to get out & introducing random people, specially if your daugher have " A STALKER PROBLEM" please help your daugher and call police before something really bad happen.

this is very cruel & sadistic isekai, im not recomended to read this novel if you are :
Spoiler
  1. You are Under Age because there is a lot of 18+ breeding monster scene.
  2. Hate r*pe, Gore, Masacre killing all adult men women children and baby, no mercy.
  3. Hate MC literally have Zero Humanity kill anything In her Path.
  4. she kinda act like modern karen, I mean " got angry just because you touch her a bit or just looking her preety face, a mu*derous, dangerous karen that yelling about her personal space or talk about who is right or wrong, you have no right to talk back or no right to argue back, I wll mu*der / hurt you right away " kind of karen.

This is my impression after reaching chapter 59. Overall it is a novel that surrounds psychological aspect of Female MC and her tragedy. As much the synopsis provide us on how the backstory started, Female MC was truly in the sense of a wounded person to the core. You can read it on the prologue chapter before the transfer incident occur.

From bullying, harassment and being mu*dered was a trigger to the unstable of her mental health and her heart. After the transfer, she was suppose to be a hero but... more>> her situation tells that she was mu*dered and dead which lead to a confusion revival of being a dungeon master instead.

The reason of almost every reader (including myself) have a less likability towards Female MC perhaps due her lack of understanding that there are someone tries to help her in a way yet sadly it did not reach her. Be aware, There is depiction scene of torture in some chapters towards innocent civilian. Be careful that it makes your reading mood turn sour.

And finally, my own personal opinion, Female MC is not a villain in a true sense. She just acted on her action based on survival since after becoming a dungeon master, her worry and fear aside of dying was the constant of invasion of intruders that disturb her comfort and home. As a final drastic measure, she took an extreme decision on using aggression and violence to protect both her life and her only home (the dungeon). <<less

As Touch-san said in their review, this MC is really hard to stomach. Up until ch.40 her actions are almost exclusively "what will benefit ME the most." Even if that means letting the goblins, who took up residence in her dungeon, r*pe captured women. She doesnt like it and even notes that it made her nauseous, but ultimately her own survival is more important than the humans (and goblins) she hates.

If you choose to read this, and I recommend it because a ruthless MC is hard to find done well,... more>> just know that the only person who matters is the MC and possibly one other person who seems to resemble the MC if she didnt get so twisted. <<less

This is a really good short story, with the only flaw imo being the world building with stats, skills, and equipment all being a mess. Not sure whether I'll settle on 4 or 5, but it's great either way.

The MC is one of the best I've read imo. She hates humanity and basically just wants to exist without being bothered, and accomplishes that with rather extreme methods (exterminates all sentient life nearby).

If you're looking for a quick read with an evil MC and you're okay with just glossing over the... more>> stat parts (they're really not the focus of the novel anyway), definitely give this a read. <<less

MC lives by the rational common sense of "get rid of all threats; kill all enemies." She's like an isekai version of Rurouni Kenshin's Saito Hajime with his "kill all evil" motto, except she's working for herself.

She's not an evil person who kills or hurts others for fun and personal profit. She's just an amoral person who has decided to do everything in her power to keep herself safe. She has abandoned human morality and justice because it failed to protect her in her previous world and treats her as... more>> an enemy in the new world.

Many reviewers take on a human supremacist viewpoint and accuse the MC, demons and monsters of mu*der because they kill humans. But they're perfectly fine with humans killing monsters and demons, and they think the MC should save other humans even though the MC has learned from experience that most of these humans are going to horribly victimize her. <<less

It's an uncomfortable read, a very callous and cruel MC, as the other reviewers better illustrate. Interesting, different, the best part about it is that it's well-paced, which is extremely rare to find in web novels. Frankly, after suffering through a decent amount of Chinese ones, this 5 star review is probably most motivated by the pace of the story.

She has no mercy for anyone and truly hates humans, but keeps a cool head and plans accordingly.

If you want a happy story this is not it. If you want a surprisingly decent revenge story, where the revenge part is not forgotten after a few chapters, then go ahead and read it. <<less

for the longest time and it's this one. Extra points for it being a female MC and even more points bc she actually achieved her goal instead of being an MC that "can't help but be permanently in the middle of everything for eternity." Honestly it checks every single box that i've been searching for in a novel, and I'm so happy.

As for the actual storytelling, plot, character depth, world building, ect., it's obviously not perfect, but it's definitely very good. The author does a good job at doing the tricky job of presenting all the right details, without letting the story feel empty like I've seen in other novels of this type. <<less

Straightforward, to the point, she have a goal, she have a reason, she do whatever it takes to reach that goal, even if it means becoming a mass killer. Very fast pacing, unapologetic, no wishi washi. It is a good read, I would consider this a pretty short story.
