Description

A character who dies no matter what he does. A character who falls into a forced choice route where he can only die, no matter his choices up to that point. However, there is a single route where the character can live and play the game.
And I have to carve out that route somehow.
Because I’ve become Callius von Jervain in the game.

Dark, unforgiving world? Check.
Original, intriguing concepts? Check. The character's personalities are well developed. They seem real, and the dialogue is fresh.
MC acts his age and has a charismatic personality. Fights are well written and dynamic. The comedic moments deliver, I found myself chuckling often. My only misgiving is that it has some Deus Ex Machina situations. Nothing intolerable, though. Well, well above average for a novel on this website.
People who enjoy gritty and violent dark fantasy worlds; Strong, determined MCs will like this novel. The religious/magic system is pretty original, honestly.
MC has a daughter, and their interactions are endearing. It's a big plus for me. You don't usually see MCs with children/family in this kind of novel, not this early at the very least. As of chapter 91, it's undeniably good; what's even more remarkable is that it managed to be so good despite the atrocious MTL I read.
The weird enter your own world/videogame/isekai sh*t is kinda used okayish? The main MC isnt a walking talking deus ex machina, its close but not quite horrible. The side characters seem interesting, except for every once and awhile we get stabbed in the face by the author reminding us that everyone are story characters within a story.
This is where my mixed feelings come from. The overall plot is somewhat good, the fantasy setting is off kilter and makes for a war filled world that isnt totally f'ed.... But the main character tilts from rising action hero to evil video game player trying to maximize his rewards... Which I totally understand. I play rpgs a lot and finding the perfect path, or making the decision that most resonates with me is important... but when the main character does this, it reminds the reader that we arent actually on an adventure. the f'ing MC is playing a video game, with stat screen, weird super power missions and rewards and everything.... and it just destroys the flow and believability.
The entire story should be rewritten as an actual fantasy story, and it wouldnt even be that hard to do so.
