Xu Nian’s mother was sick, and as they were a normal single income family, they used up all their money to pay for her hospital fees. It wasn’t enough. Xu Nian was a young, good-looking but also very poor university student who was trying to look for a way out.

Cheng Chen was a domineering CEO. He just dumped a lover, and is looking for a new one…and this time he wants a male one.

They meet, and fit each other’s needs quite well. And as the cliched script goes, they enter into a give and take relationship–no love or feelings involved.

But…

Who knew that the domineering CEO had such a cute habit!

Note: The titular Sewing Machine, is referring to the ML, Cheng Chen because of his leg shaking habit. The shaking is kind of like a sewing machine’s needle going up and down, up and down.

It's a parody first and foremost, so I had fun reading, but it wasn't anything transformational. ML is a bit of an as*hole tsundere, and MC is a bit hard to really understand, but they work together. It's cute and silly, and doesn't require a lot of brain cells to binge read.

I have to admit, I didn't enjoy this story. It wasn't badly written for something that was supposed to be lightweight, light-hearted and simple. I just didn't enjoy either of the main characters or how they acted.

The ML is a particular type of tsundere that sometimes appears in CN stories where he childishly expects and wants the MC to please him and interprets everything the MC does as a sign of the MC being passionately in love with him, and gets arbitrarily displeased and sulky when the... more>> MC doesn't meet some expectation the ML had imagined silently all on his own. This is all SUPPOSED to be cute and the fact that it's a familar type of ML means that many readers clearly find it so. I've personally never enjoyed watching an ML be s*upidly smug for foolish reasons while at the same time being cold and arbitrarily sulkly to the MC and expecting the MC to pick up on his feelings and good traits on his own. I can see that in this story there are things like the ML's physical habits that clearly give away his real mood to others and he doesn't hide them, I appreciate that. I appreciate that we're supposed to just assume on our own that he's falling for the the MC from the moment he's captuvated by his smile. I appreciate that the story shows that he is essentially a good person who treats the MC well in important ways. I just don't ENJOY reading the cold words that come out of his mouth or the childishly arrogant thoughts in his head. I found myself skimming a lot to avoid cringing or frowning or getting frustrated.

The MC... well, there's even less that's objectively bad about the MC. He's calm and pleasant and hard-working. But the author never really let's us see deeply enough into his emotions to know exactly how much real feeling he is developing for the ML. Since their interactions are largely for show or to please the ML, the author keeps us feeling that the MC probably doesn't care that deeply at all even when he says he does, and so I'm watching him calmly lead the ML into falling deeply in love without knowing whether he's aware or even cares. I can intepret things positively and sweetly (e.g. that he's so patient with the ML because he actually finds him cute) and I think many readers will... but I do get a little tired of having to read everything with a positive bias merely because these are the main characters in a romance and so anything they do MUST be sweet, right? I just want there to be more actual thoughts or feelings, especially from the MC, for me to enjoy what is actually happening instead of feeling uncertain or bored.

As I said, the writing is not bad. A slightly different plot, slightly different characters or even just a few tweaks and I would've enjoyed this as a good light read. It unfortunately features an ML type that I personally don't enjoy and not enough sympathetic inner perspectives from either character to keep me engaged.

I'm so near the end but not interested in finishing... Sadly, not a story for me. <<less

Xu Nian as a sugar baby is indeed amazing HAHAHAHHAAH

Got a little bit doubtful if he loves Cheng Chen but at the end, I feel that it was the case when he said

Also, I wasn't fond of the ML at first but he really is cute until the end hahaha

Overall, this was a good read.

Short, funny and fluffy!

But if you're not into an extreme type tsundere who loves to call someone "homo", then this is not for you.

The MC is a sugar baby who played his part really well. He's very much human and not a "saint", he's practical and very open-minded. He's smart and a very filial son.

The ML who gets all the hate, I dont think he deserves that! He might be foul/hardmouthed tsundere guy, but his heart is definitely good. He's very generous and did not touched any of his past... more>> sugar babies.

The real MVP is the ML's secretary! Lol

Overall it's a nice short read, but don't expect too much. <<less

My gawd!!! Why was this novel so hilariously cringey?!!?! 🤦‍♀️🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣 It was so cute and wholesome in a really s*upid offensive way.

Just a warning to those who want to read it, the ML is SUPER HOMOPHOBIC, but in a tsundere way. If you don't like reading homophobic slurs, definitely don't read.

Likeable MC: he's just so good, kind, attentive, and no drama.
A big puppy, tail wiggling, tsundere ML.

Overall it's a good short story, and the comedy make me laugh several times.

i love this HAHAHA it made me realise how much I love tsun tops. Honestly the pacing wasnt bad, I do wish it was fleshed out more but thats because I really fell for both of these characters! Such a great story, really happy to have read this! Wish we could read the extras. Now I'll be going off to search for similar stories out there~

Honestly, the ML is really an as*hole to the MC. Can't he warm up a little bit more to the ML? I don't like how he keeps calling him a fking homo until the end. But sometimes the story is funny.

The fluffiness and the comedy is really stiffen your jaw from too much smiling and laughing. A must read fluffy non plot story just enough to brighten your day and keep coming back to read it when you need a little dose of sugar to elevate your mood. Great translation too!

Read it.

Don't postpone the novel because of the title. (That's what I did)

Chapters are really short so won't take much time.

MC is so likeable. He is my favorite suger baby 😜. Quite honest and practical.

ML is extreme tsundere. Thank God it's a short novel otherwise I won't like him at all. ML could be the only reason not to read it. But apart from having a bad tongue everything else is good.

It's good short read. Fluffy, no angst or drama.

anywayz. There's no angst in here. Just straight up dog food. At first you're gonna be disturbed (i mean I was, not sure bout you) with the words coming from ML but given that he was a germaphobe/homophobe and a patootie tsundere, you'll eventually understand. Give it a read 2-5 chapters or so and you'll find ML so CUTE 🤤. Like so adorbs 🥰 for example (do bear in mind, it is of the best interest to not click this lest u spoil yo'self, tone down the excitement this may/may not bring, and blame meehhh)

Pretty cute and hilarious.

I like the role reversal - ML is childish, tsundere and very demanding.

MC is practical, mature, confident and doting. Very very fluffy and cute throughout.
Some things are not super spelled out, leaving it to the reader to interpret, which is nice.

No angst, just humor. Wish it was longer!

Pretty great translation. Flowed well.

It’s ok, the MC was 18 in the beginning which is pet peeve for me because 18 is so young! And as for the ML, his age wasn’t stated but I’m assuming that he must be in between late 20s to early 30s. The plot is pretty decent. Hated the whiny homophobic ML.

Cute and pretty short. The gong is a super tsundere and can be harsh with his words, but I do think he grows on you quickly because he's so cringe (lol). The shou is quite calculating and smart without being a Mary Sue, so I liked him a lot as a main character. I wish there was more development in their relationship at the end because it felt like neither of the characters were 100% honest with the other, but the novel's overall tone was lighthearted so I give it... more>> a pass. <<less

You can finish this story literally in one sitting. Really sweet, funny, dsn ridiculous. I even really liked the comment of one of the translators. Our gong is really funny to the point of s*upid, but even though he's s*upid, he's really really funny. I don't even understand why people hate it. She really was the goofy tsundere type who would do anything for Xu Nian. I even need more extra chapters. Really too short 😳🤍

Cute, short, funny and sweet.

The MC is patient, hardworking and observant. The ML is an awkward Tsundere.

The ML's assistant has a tough job dealing with both of them.

No spice until the very last chapter.

The sugar baby aspect is more like a nanny/personal assistant type thing. The MC cooks and coddles the ML.

The ML is a puppy in human form. His leg and ears move when he is happy.
