Reading this using mtl, deadass speedrun the whole novel through midnight because of how much I enjoyed i

The story itself is very nice, I don't know how to explain it but it's very well written from my point of view and have a very nice plotline. Thought for me, what I like the most is the emotional progress, how the character slowly getting better and improve from their past selves. Not only that, the author also manages to make us feel like we're there as a third person view, watching... more>> while also feeling it's happening. The world's detail is also enough and not too much to overwhelm the overall story. It's very well paced and honestly I love this novel compared to most of the past novel I've read.

10/5 will read again if I have time and I Fully recommended you guys to read it

(btw sorry for my bad English, not a native but I enjoyed reading in English more than in my own native language so here I am chilling) <<less

A beautiful story of love and redemption. There's proper character building, also healthy same-s*x relationship. The story flows comfortably without any fantastical ideas, hateful enemy, nor face-slapping.

It is the story of two friends-turned-lovers who previously broke up due to misunderstanding in highschool, then grew farther and further apart each year. One of them grew in riches but then drown in debt and depression, while the other grew poor but then became an accomplished scientist/enterpreneur. How would they manage to reconnect and come together again?

The author focuses on the two's relationship,... more>> so some things are rather simplified (the depiction of depression, the recycling business). Still, it is written very well. Recommended for anyone who could accept BL. <<less

Very nice. TW for su*cide though.

I really like how the author portrayed MC's mental illness and the downward spiral he went through. He obviously made huge and s*upid mistakes but it was written in a way that didn't villify him or made him less of a human being. The parts where he runs away from his problems multiple times (including after the 1st confession) felt very real and although I really hated that the ML was so hurt, I also couldn't help but feel distressed for such a lost MC.

ML... more>> is such a sweetheart and he has a very inspiring character because he didn't despise himself or give up despite his circumstances. He also never looked down on MC and wholeheartedly embraced him and helped him on his way to redemption. Even though the ML does have moments where he feels uncertain and insecure, he can still manage his mentality well.

Two different people, two different personalities, two different reactions and attitudes towards the events that happened. But they still were brought together by the love they had for each other.

It really was a beautiful, healing read. <<less

The pacing of this story was just right, what I loved about this was although there were flashbacks, those weren't agonizingly long.

In fact, the flashbacks were more like brief side dishes.

This story mainly revolves around the misunderstandings between MC/ML and I usually get frustrated because of misunderstandings because in some stories I'll think like 'why cant u just communicate'

but with MC/ML you'll realize that the misunderstandings were inevitable because of their situations like ... more>>

I'm just happy for them that although they weren't in each other's lives for around 10 years already, I'm happy that they didn't miss out on each other after all.

The MC (Xiao Baa) can honestly be frustrating but he is so relatable, I feel frustrated with him sometimes but I know that if I were in his place, I'll feel/do the same <<less

Very nice story! Don't forget to read the tags, it's there for a good reason.

Some might feel really frustrated with the MC, but I don't! I understand where his thoughts and fears coming from. There's a lot of misunderstandings because of miscommunication but don't fret, around chapter 45-46 things will smoothen slowly, so don't stop and feel discouraged.

I love MC's journey to healing with the help of our ML. They were childhood friends and classmates and both does have a special feelings for each other and that secret love slowly... more>> unfold when they met again after 10 years. My heart truly hurts for the MC, how his happy life turns upside down and there's nowhere to run,

I can't imagine how much pain he's going through everyday, he lost his father and their business and it goes downhill after that!! I like his dad, he's such a good person, actually both ML and MC's dad were very nice people. Some people make bad choices (MC), the earlier they realised their mistakes, the better and for those who doesn't have anyone to lean on or to guide them, I feel sad for them.

Overall, please don't be dejected because of how he acts and thinks, he's been through so much and people cope differently, so don't compare people and how they react to situation. Be gentle and more understanding.

That said it's 4.5/5 for me! <<less

Love this novel so much! As stated in the description, the MC Shen Wenqiu is in massive debt, the type where he feels hopeless towards the future, and all his aspirations and dreams can no longer be obtained. This manifests in his feelings of worthlessness and pushing people away (the ML) to avoid burdening them. However the ML continues to dote on the MC and slowly lets him recognise that he is worth caring about.

The MC was originally a rich and carefree student who happened to befriend the ML and... more>> accompanied him during his time of need. A decade later, the MC at the end of the road reaches out the the ML on a whim, then their sweet healing story starts from there.

I really love the MC in this novel, he is obviously not perfect and is very sensitive but it's hard to not root for him. The ML is more I would saw 'flawless', however I think it works fine in this type of story.

Overall, really recommend this novel! <<less

Nice story! Both MC and ML were so in love with each other. MC never look down ML even with their social status being so different. Instead ge love and support him. ML's love is so pure and warm, you can feel is innocence and kind personality.

Even MC was down in the dumps he never forgets his bottoming because of ML. MC admires ML and ML loces MC.

The misunderstanding was no a big one. I still think his creep friend took the invitation..

It was quite sad through mid point but... more>> the sugar afterwards was all worth it. Like MC said people like stories where someone down in the dumps pick them selves back up and makes a come back. I love that for the MC with ML by his side both loving each other.

Finished this by MTL-ing the last 30 chapters and I really enjoyed it! It hits the perfect spot for angst lovers :’)

The MC, Shen Wenqiu, is such a great and interesting character. He's flawed and imperfect but that’s why you can't help but like him. His choices can be aggravating at times in the eyes of a reader but all of this makes him feel more human. The ML, Lu Yong, is such a gentleman and while some may think that he's a bit Gary Stu, unlike other “perfect”... more>> MLs I've seen, he didn't feel boring since he had real aspirations and personality. I also have no complaints about the pacing. While it's a shorter novel, it doesn't feel rushed and the character + relationship development really shined.

Overall- Would recommend it since it's short and nice with a healing relationship. 4 or 4.5 star rating <<less

Woah, What a ride this was. Honestly, I'm at a loss for words and don't know where to start from. Firstly, I would like to talk about how happy I am that I've finally finished reading this novel and have reached the end of this journey.

I don't remember when I had exactly started reading this novel... Hmmmm, well I think maybe it was when I had my 2nd yr college exams? Or maybe it was the time after I tried to not read bl (which obviously didn't... more>> work, lol) but yeah the main point is that ik I had started reading this at an important time.

I really enjoyed reading this story but then I lost interest when I had reached halfway. So I put it in my "continue reading list" and it had been on pause since then. It took me quite a long time to come back to this and that's the reason I'm so happy that I actually read till the end.

Idk wat I felt previously when I was reading it before the pause but rn all I can say is, this story deserves to be read and everyone should give this a chance! It was such an emotional ride and I'm just so happy that it was a HE, the couple really deserved it for real. So yeah, definitely recommend this to everyone, give it a try!

Everything is perfect about this novel. Author really did her best, every step about character buildings and story development, well calculated and immersed with emotions. Normally making this kinda story's finals are really hard but author really put her best and it really deserves won award.

Not only novel but all translator and editing party did their best. Everything about site translator proofeditor everyone about whole process to make this story accessible, thank you so much. You are really the best. I am so grateful all efforts you put into.

Sincerely recommend reading it as long as you handle a bit of angst. It is a healing story about recovering and learning to stand up again after reaching the bottom, regaining self-estime, putting yourself back together after falling from high to an all-time low, it also features a bit of struggles of accepting one's homosexuality. The MC seems pitiful and you may also get heartache for him at first, but it slowly becomes heartwarming and fluffy, kuddos to the ML, one of the best MLs ever, really endearing <3🥺

A lot of regrets, pining, & misunderstandings, but don’t fret—it’s a HE.

It’s not a bad read if you happen to enjoy angst & some melodrama. I don’t gravitate towards the ‘misunderstanding’ trope, but the fact that ML & MC were put into reverse stances after their 10 year separation got me insanely intrigued. I sure do love drama. But the overall execution was alright. I did think some of the conflict was overly dramatic & forced, but it wasn’t terrible. I... more>> genuinely enjoyed both characters’ flaws in their personalities; added some dimension. The story itself is kinda lacking, but that’s just my own interest waning. So cute I cried. Classic miscommunication trope; MC and ML just constantly misunderstand the other. I thought it ended a little too quickly I just wanted more scenes of them happy together.

*The book does mention unaliving in the first half.
