Tang Yi was 17 years old when she secretly loved Jiang Qiaosheng, and she married him when she was 25.

In the 10th year of loving Jiang Qiaosheng, Tang Yi proposed a divorce to him.

On the night she decided to get divorced, Tang Yi accidentally came across a popular topic.

“Why do all the stories of unrequited love that come true only end at the point of marriage?”

Tang Yi remained silent for a long time, and wrote down her own answer.

–Because the trivialities of life and the suspicions in the relationship will erode your love for him.

“Loving you is like a moth rushing towards the flame, exhausting all of me.”

If Butterfly and Whale was a more romantic idealistic take on tragedy (which I still like btw) then this novel is a more irl grounded take of BE.

really unfortunate but sometimes you meet someone at the wrong place and time.

i wasn’t expecting much for a 10ch BE tragedy (?) novel but it managed to squeeze a tear out of me.

I'm still sobbing even after an hour. Yes you can argue It's because of miscommunication but hey, this does happen.

Its realistic and god I'm a sucker for these type of stories. This is a good she fell too early and he fell too late.

It's beautiful. I cried.

Spoiler

What hurt the most for me was when she asked him to buy her a drink. After he came back and brought her milk, which she was allergic to, her eyes trembled. That was her sign and that was when she finally let go.

Both had something to blame for their broken marriage. Everything the author said was true. She was not honest enough because she loved so deeply. While the guy was just starting to love her, and tried to accomodate her in a way that it's almost akin to just acquaintances.

I actually thought he would be secretly in love with her too. But of course, this novel was true to life. He never knew her feelings from the past. He never knew she was that player he and his team usually played with during his senior year. He just never really knew her at that time because FL hid really hard.

If the FL was that Wen Jing, we'd probably be rejoicing now that ML is getting a divorce. Sometimes, reading this kind of stories where the characters are probably just passing experiences gives you such profound realizations.

It's a short read. But it gives your heart a few squeezes of pain. I suggest you read it 🤣 it's painful but beautiful at the same time. Welp, that's life.

also, kudos to the translator! The translation was great! Thank you for doing this!
