Most transmigration novels say the person transmigrating is in their 20's or older, but then they act like emotional teenagers. It's very rare see an intelligent and not easily swayed by her emotions MC. I also like the sweet and cute moments with little emperor (he's 6-7 years old at the beginning of the story). And it's so refreshing to see an MC that's so cool-headed and doesn't need an OP ML to save her**. She might internally freak out and think I'm scared and I don't want to deal with this, but she still acts like a really brave adult a few sentences later.

**There were three times when ML saves MC in the first 30% or so of the novel, but he doesn't do anything that a competent bodyguard wouldn't be able to do.

It makes sense that she doesn't even think about going back to the future. From Chapter 10, she seemed like a workaholic that didn't have any family or close friends. Maybe, after dying once, she wants to be different in this second chance at life? Plus, her body died from the airplane crashing, she doesn't really have a body to go back to.

In response to the review below by kahokyu, which happens in ch 55-57

Spoiler

I thought it was more like emotional s*x than angry s*x. She's crying because she's thinking about how the body she transmigrated into r*ped ML when he was 15, how she don't want to hurt him like that again, and that he's the first person she loves. And, until they talk it through, her body doesn't relax enough for him to go in.

That chapter focuses more on their complicated feelings for each other than s*x. At the end of the chapter, she thinks how in her previous life, she's learned to be independent at a young age because of her parents, but now she feels so happy and content, sleeping next to his warm body.

And yes, ML's idea of having s*x right after MC was kidnapped isn't the best idea, but he's a teenager and he matures as the story goes on

[collapse]

To xtruthxliex review below, he's a only a father figure to the child emperor. At the beginning of the story, ML is 17 or 18. So, I'm not sure why MC would be considered a pe*ophile.

Sometimes, MC's behavior might seem inconsistent, but it can be explained by that MC has a soft spot for children, but the rest of time she's a coldly rational person. If you give her the option to save one person that's dying in front of her over ten people in a different city, she will pick the second option without hesitation.

Spoiler

MC doesn't have a child until the epilogue.

Read up to when the MC and ML officially get together/confess and couldn't stand to continue reading any further.

Spoiler

MC is kidnapped, whipped/tortured, almost r*ped, saved by ML, brought back home and ML's first action after is to have angry s*x (ML is bottom here) ... without treating MC's wounds. Meanwhile MC is near fainting from the sight of blood and crying and ML doesn't notice at all... until MC tells him to stop.. and so they switch to MC as bottom and continue having sex! The author explains the MC being ere*t in the first place after all the above trauma because "it's a male body's natural uncontrollable reaction". I just can't stand this kind of garbage reasoning...

[collapse]

Story is just.... cliche after cliche with some good scenes thrown in. MC basically starts out okay and turns into damsel in distress with no brains and puts herself into dangerous situations while knowing it's dangerous. But b/c of "petty" fights with ML doesn't bring him along even tho he's her bodyguard!!! so gets drugged, kidnapped, attacked by assassins, sexually harassed/almost r*ped, etc etc. <<less

I used to translate this, but stopped because not enough people were interested in it, and it honestly kinda sucks. (I'm also low-key embarrassed of my practice translations here, but, eh, c'est la vie.)

The novel has lots of things I don't like about it. The first person narrative was hard to work with, the MC's personality was all over the place, the ML was my least favorite type (possessive! overbearing! bleck!), plot threads got dropped at random, not a single person knew what the word 'consent' was, there were... more>> scenes that viscerally disgusted me, I had to edit out a racist sentence that eventually ate at me (detailed below if you're super curious), and I didn't feel it was going anywhere exciting.

Spoiler

Chapter 33, the missing part of the sentence is "and look at the filthy places brown and black people live." Holy racism, batman!

[collapse]

Out of curiosity, I skipped ahead to the ending. It was... something.

Spoiler

The MC had apparently cheated on the ML with Hong Feng, a woman from the original Qinglian's past, at some point, and they had a daughter together. And she's implied to kill Xiao Lu because she resembles her father/mother/momther and he tried to touch her face. What to heck???

[collapse]

I had been intrigued by the gender-variant protagonist because I like to see things that are different, so it's just too bad the novel blows butthole and is really not my scene at all. If it means anything to anyone, though, it does MTL fairly well, so you can finish it that way if you really, really want to. <<less

I have mixed feelings about this novel. For one, it's first person point of view and sometimes it's not done well. This one is alright, the translators make it easy to digest.

I think it starts out well enough. I don't believe she's a paedophile like one of the reviewers said, and despite the first chapter title, lmao. The novel mentions the ML is 17-18 or so, but young compared to the mental age and body of the protagonist, who is older. That's fine for me, I like that she's not... more>> reacting like a shocked, innocent teenager, helpless and incapable. It's kind of rare the ML starts off as under her control, but it eventually spirals out of it, but she remains more or less independent so far.

However, I wouldn't say this is a good novel either. There are a lot of darker elements. There are no completely right choices, especially in regards to governing and politics. Sometimes, in order to survival, you need to do bad things. The original body was a villain, she has to deal with the aftermaths without revealing her hand.

I like the pairing between MC/ML, but the snusnu so far... ehh.

Spoiler

There's been several times the protagonist has had s*x from where I'm at, but honestly, none of it was very appealing or sexy. Drugged by aphrodisiac with ML, r*ped by one of the original protagonist's lover, s*x with ML to cover that up, and s*x with a mysterious prostitute...?

[collapse]

It also doesn't quite read as BL to me, more like a transgender individual feeling incredibly awkward with the wrong equipment. The ML also figures out the protagonist is not original one fairly fast, though the protagonist doesn't know. Mixed feelings about this because ML gets possessive of her fast... :') <<less

Loving this novel. Has an interesting premise much like UPX. Let's hope it stays that way until the end. Yaoi is love :p

Edit: Since I am translating this myself, I don't think my vote counts anymore. Still, NU doesn't let anyone delete their comments.

Interesting! I wish the translator will still continue translating it.

So the Female Lead soul goes into evil Prime Minister.

She was using her life to make anything wrong goes right. Of course no one believe these new personality of prime minister.

When Super Evil Villain become kind. Interesting.

Granted, I've given worst novels a 3 and it would be unfair to put this on those levels, however I feel like it would be too generous to give this a 3 stars. It's not particularly bad but I don't find it particularly interesting either. I think my biggest issue is that it tries to have "politics and war", but just really suck at it.

Granted, I'm not here for the yaoi. I mostly find the initial concept of this story interesting, and am intrigued by the slice of life/politics part.... more>> But even from a BL perspective, I don't feel like it particularly stands out with its romances. I especially don't like overdramatic relationships, but I don't feel like there's much to say about this one either apart from the initial setting. It feels like quite of a waste of an interesting setting to be explored. In general, more often than not, politics or love, I just find a lot of the situations underdeveloped. I feel like there's so many loose threads that just slowly faded away into non-existence rather than being fully addressed. For example, often if a vague backstory plotline has finished its usefulness, the character would quite conveniently disappear from the story (either by retiring, leaving, dying, disappearing, etc.) and just, don't come back when, logically speaking, they have more than one good reason to stay in the story. (If they haven't disappeared yet, it just means that their plotline has not wrapped up yet)

It's, quite honestly, just rather bland. I feel like I just read a bunch of empty things while waiting for a climax that never really happens. I don't think any of the characters really jumped out my expectations, or made me look at them under a different light. The MC was also said to have transmigrated into a body of a rather bad person, but that just got quite losely dismissed as being rather inconsequential after a while. Idk man, my only reaction is "eh". <<less

Meh. It's okay, but one thing is... The MC doesn't care about going back home? She just gives up without even thinking about it, let alone trying.

Want to go home + do nothing = no good home

Want to go home + do something = a way home

... more>> Just a thought.

Also in the beginning, her body reacted to the kid, even though it was wrong and evil, she was tempted. Which is disgusting.

Another thing is that there is no background explanation of her or the situation.

It's literally woman transmigrates, boom she's a man, boom she's a pe*ophile, boom she's a father, boom she's a mu*derer, etc.

All of these problems crop up without any explanation and yet the MC knows it, but isn't supposed to because she didn't ask and doesn't have the original's memories.

Extremely confusing, bland, somewhat interesting, somewhat different, disgusting, and very sporadic.

Edit: Okay, it just got more ridiculous. MC is now refering people as possession/objects. I give up. This MC is contradictory.

MC is nice and kind with normal capabilities, but MC just acts like she is kind, is secretly (in between the lines) very cruel and seemingly ignorant (or just s*upid). <<less

This novel started out with an interesting concept... female transmigrated into the body of a corrupt male “flower-like” official in ancient times. The plot is interesting as she goes about becoming a good official and winning over the ML. Of course there are great moments with the mini-emperor, who is adorable.

A few thoughts—I really appreciated the translations up until the currently translated chapter (90). They were very well done. I MTLed until the end of Book 1, which has a lot of action packed in only about 20 chapters. Things... more>> culminated in
Spoiler

Prince Liang’s rebellion which was foiled by Qinglian with the help of Jinzi as a spy, with Qinglian’s rescue of the mini-emperor and good leadership in coordinating the forces, not to mention the appearance of gunpowder which he/she had been developing. Ofc there were traitors from within the emperor’s camp and at Qinglian’s side, but I won’t spoil those because they are kind of cannon fodder, just unexpected.

Book 1 was interesting and ends with good promotions for MC, ML and all who helped out.

From the author’s note regarding Book 2, it seems like the plot is centered around

suppressing the Xiongnu/Huns, beginning with the revelation of Shao Qing’s death. Prior to this, the last time the last time Qinglian seems to have seen Shao Qing was when they shared a drink and Shay Qing reveals that knew the original Qinglian was dead and that the MC was female, but the two came to an agreement to continue cooperating.

Anyways, it seems like
Spoiler

Jinzi will be leading the troops during this war with the Huns.

At this point, I decided to drop the novel because it didn’t seem as exciting anymore. The MC and ML are already together, the palace intrigue plot finished, so I lost interest in seeing the continued journey. Maybe someday I’ll wanna pick it up again, but for now I think Book 1 had a decent enough ending for me to call it quits.

Bottom Line: worth reading? I’d say yes - at least until Book 1 ends. <<less

This is honestly very bland... not in the sense that there's no smut, because you can have a bomb yaoi with fantastic plot development with minimal bed scenes- but this is just straight up bland :/ The story is told from the MC's point of view, but somehow every chapter just seems like a long and extensive monologue about things that could be summarized by a fraction of the sentences used. There's so many instances where the MC just starts internally rambling about things that stem from the current happenings... more>> in the story, but really has nothing to do with the story and no value in the narrative or in character development.

It's an interesting premise, just definitely not top-of-the-bin in this genre.

FYI my review might be biased because I've gotten pretty far into the Chinese audio-book of this novel. Ended up dropping it because of the same reasons stated above : (. <<less
