IMO below average xianxia. Forceful as f*ck. And everything about shortcuts and denials. Before starting, I shall first state that what makes a xianxia/xuanhuan novel average and generic were because of the traditional troupe such as: tr*sh talent/cripple then gain a treasure/unlock potential, narrowminded villain, plot armors and then never ending revenge cycle. I believe that this novel's author was trying to trancend from that and try avoided the troupes. Unfortunately he didn't know that he was already binded by that traditional troupe and instead of sticking up and being... more>> average novel. He went and overestimated himself creating this barely alive and hypocritical novel.

Major novel issues:

First, He obviously wants to create an harem but there he goes and creating a second rate romance full of denials and sh*t when in his mind he was already imagining his character f*cking all those introduced ladies. Second, before the very start he was nothing but an ordinary mortal then a few seconds of read later *huala* he became a a monsterous genuis among millions of genuis. *Clap clap* how shameless can this be!!

Third, He was basically a zero with only his mortal talent and blood relatives. Then 2 chapters later.. He gain eye execution shit, Alchemy treasures, 9 immortal masters and almost anything a normal person can dream off fall into his arms like a meatpie and without even breaking a sweat. Normally authors tend make it subtle as they can to hide their plot armors.. But this one obviously don't know that logic

Fourth, He was arrogant and all which can be used an excuse for the plot to temper himself, became strong and learn his wrong doing in the near future. However No! Instead of creating that possibility. Author just went and sent him in a place then *another huala* he experience a 100 years of life time in a blink of an eye. BUT other than having his maturity grow by 5% that lifetime he experience only made him more arrogant and overconfident that when he was up to people he can't defeat he can only use an old monster's petty tricks. The f*ck with that. Why not Just create a old monster rebirth novel instead trying to be unique when author has no writing talent to speak of at all..

Fifth, Not only was he full of shortcuts even his chapters were extremely short.. WTH!

TL:DR
If only author stick to tradition although it won't be a masterpiece it atleast could have par with the novels like King of Gods, dmwg, wddg, barely mw and tmw. Unfortunately he didnt so.. With all that said author is pretty wishy-washy, story is nothing special and I bet majority of the people of novel community could predict what'll happen next so.. Two words : passable tr*sh

Boring.

We meet the MC and then before we could get involved in his life PLOT happens! Then he gets a bunch of OP crap because of "luck" and "destiny". At this point in time, all I can see this as being is a wish-fulfillment cheat protagonist story, the xianxia equivalent of fast food. Strong flavor with low nutrition, packs a punch but leaves you feeling empty.

First impression of painting of the nine immortals

The below review is of a Xianxia story, so I'm not going to complain about the MC being crippled initially, him getting a super OP treasure, beauties popping about every now and then, etc because these elements are intrinsic to the Xianxia genre.

Our MC who can't cultivate works as an alchemist's assistant among many other odd jobs he does to earn his livelihood and desperately tries to find ways to enable himself to cultivate, although he is brilliant he is not valued in his clan due to him being cultivation-disabled. When he tries to buy an elixir which could awaken his 'inner eye' (something like sharingan, byakugan and rinnegan, but this novel contains 104 types with the 104th type being the weakest!) as a last ditch effort with the help of the alchemist who he works for, he finds a resonance with one of the awakened souls residing inside a painting in the pavillion which sells elixirs. He discovers that the awakened soul is of a person who is described as the 'Legendary Alchemist' without whom the alchemy wouldn't be as advanced as it was today, from the awakened soul he learns that there are still another 8 souls in the painting which are in deep slumber!. The soul also makes a shocking revelation to the MC about his condition and agrees to help him provided he becomes it's apprentice and the MC agrees..... which is the start of a great adventure....

The plot unfolds at a breakneck speed, so you don't really pay much attention to the mistakes. I think this novel maybe similar to 'The nine Godheads' and 'Sevens', although I haven't read either of those novels. Also I feel this novel contains taoistic philosophies and it maybe explored more deeply in the future arcs.

MC/ Characters:
Wow! the MC is crippled here because of some powerful ppl's schemes, some really powerful ppl have sealed MC's heaven defying talent...... the reason being..... huh... well... apparently because the MC has heaven defying talent (I'm guessing MC has different origins and his parents who are dead may not be his real parents). The MC is Loyal but not kind hearted although he doesn't seem to be a bad guy either

infact when the first beauty showed up and was being pursued by two rapists, he didn't involve himself in the incident due to his lack of strength until he was dragged into the problem by the beauty

MC seems like a cautious guy who keeps a low profile but he has heaven defying luck which rivals his heaven defying talent!. Apart from MC, other characters who showed up haven't got a lot of importance as of yet. Well the first beauty seemed like a good although mischievous person and the second beauty seemed naive and innocent.

The OP treasure, Cultivation system, and powerups:
Well the main OP artifact/treasure MC has is the '9 immortals painting' and he got a part of another treasure called 'six samsara' or something which can set a rule or something when all parts are assembled. Cultivation realms seem similar to other novels but in alchemist levelling system in this novel, the realms go in descending order.
Powerups in this novel are slightly different to other novels I guess, well there is the 'inner eye' that I mentioned before, and there is something called Dan essences in this novel which I have not come across in other novels before, these essences help the alchemist in becoming OP and different essences have different powers

The MC gets the 4th ranked 'execution eye' as soon as his first seal is released by his master it temporarily increases his cultivation, summons a sword, etc has more powers which are to be explored but it also causes a backlash on the MC after certain duration and his master gifts him a dan essence which is so OP that it can detect the ingredients used in a pill and it can also warn the MC when he is making a mistake in pill cooking

Cons:
The novel seems to contain boring one dimensional villains who seem to think it's alright to bully people who are weaker than them.

Verdict:
I didn't feel bored during the first 10 chapters, so I'm going to go out on a limb and recommend this novel. Hopefully this novel's quality doesn't deteriorate much. <<less

Basically a novel a boy who gets OP item, uses it to show off, and be c*cky. Most of the story is about trading insults between the MC and antagonist and the other half is about praising the MC. Most of MC's skills is from him being born with a lucky natural lottery (he is just born lucky). MC goes on a adventure once per 100 chapters.

Compared to novels tagged 'filler' (there really needs to be such a tag/genre), this novel would be around 8/10. Like most novels, MC's origin... more>> story started out good, fresh, sorta original but quickly sours when the author decides to go full ret*rd and fill just about every chapter with fillers. <<less

Insanely generic, Fast food type novel literally. MC gets OP in earlier chapters, has no challenges whatsoever, I feel its the Japanese version of Xianxia at times with goodies flying.

How should I put this, I tried to forced read till the "Hometown arc finish" but really its harder to do than any other novel. I can't bring my self to enjoy this, not a bit.

Here is a few point that I found so lacking in this novel.
    • The super inconsistency and forgetful author. In chapter 1 there is 108 super eyes but it downgrade to 104 in chapter 2. In chapter 1 MC eyes is the eye that never seen since 12k years ago, chapter 2 MC eyes is something never seen for 20k years and finally chapter 40something says the MC eyes is something last seen 120k years ago.
    • Super wish fullfilment which MC try to "act" low profile but "always" end up showing off and awe the audiences, or passerby.
    • The female in heat wherever MC goes.
    • Op from early chapter, borowing power from ghost to show off, to stagnant story.
I will try to read the second arc, hope it will be better.

I liked the novel even though its generic but an enjoyanle read

Some Pros:

  • MC dosen't fall in love so quick
  • He isn't a pe*vert
  • Not as arrogant as other MCs
  • The eyes seemed new to me
Some Cons:

  • Its nothing new
  • MC has to much luck
  • All the petty villians around him
  • Female clan members fell in love to quuck for it to have any substance

tr*shiest of tr*sh novels. Every chapter will piss you off, due to the author being so fcking s*upid.

MC was sealed by the Gods at birth, which causes him to not cultivate. MC visits a shop one day. He is suddenly sent to a magical world inside a painting, where he finds out he will get 9 immortal masters from ancient times

MC's first master is an alchemy guy, and since MC has some fatherly bond with him (MC has no parents), he starts to reject all the other immortals and their inheritances.

The MC was told he would have to take 9 immortal masters and he agreed. Out of nowhere, he starts to reject them like wtf are you doing? They can make you stronger in everything from arrays to cultivation.

MC was at the 3rd level of qi and he summons his black and white Eyes of Execution, some 4 out of 108 ranked Godly eyes that haven't been seen in 12k, 20k and 120k years (author isn't sure obviously) He somehow kills two 6th level qi warriors EASILY and saves a member of his clan.

She falls in love with MC and MC breaks heart since he does not love her the same, blah blah useless romance. She vows to capture his heart one day still after crying.

MC was accepted into this amazing house, full of OP people like him. Before he can even make it there, this s*upid bītch MC offends everyone more than your typical arrogant young master.

He ends up getting chased for chapters, falling through a space portal into some country villages on some broken landmass called 36 islands, where he's basically a God there. We spend over 100+ chapters on useless sh*t and we still are at the island arc. Oh, he got a pretty lady Phoenix pet of course and two sisters who call him Master. Also has a servant called Demonic Fairy who is a Heavens Favorite like him. This novel is just tr*sh.

I had to write a review, because I almost didn't start reading this novel due to reading the reviews. At chapter six, I almost gave up reading this novel once again because of the combination of those six chapters and the reviews. It seemed like I was struggling through mud as I read. The struggle was due to lots of background information and the writing didn't seem to flow. However, I decided to finish what I started. By somewhere around chapter thirty or forty, I was so glad I didn't... more>> give up. It turned out to be a great novel that I almost missed out on.

Some people do not like real OP characters - they want realism (I guess). If you to read something realistic with major drama and struggles. This novel doesn't have it which is what I loved about it! It is refreshing to not feel like I need to see a therapist because what I was reading kept my emotions in a knot. Personally, I do not think the OP is "over the top" and/or too explosive. The writer made an OP character and still developed tension without a lot of drama. If you want to read a novel with a lot of depth, this novel isn't for you. However, it's a great novel to read if you need a mental vacation where you have fun and relax.

I gave it five stars due to how much I enjoyed reading it (after the beginning chapters) and because it was good enough to make me mad that I didn't start reading it after it was completely translated (I hate cliff hangers). Before you make a decision on this novel, I suggest reading all chapters that have been translated which is currently at one hundred thirty eight. <<less

I won't go on too much with what other reviewers have said but there's incorrect translations, awkward sentence structures, and poor word choices in this novel. Example: Ch247 is 天劫 God's Trial but the accurate translation is Heaven's Calamity or Heaven's Retribution. 天 Is either translated as Sky or Heaven, but not God. Another example: Ch261 last sentence says "An international joke!" but they aren't nations involved so how can it be international? The raws actually say "The world's biggest/greatest joke!" yet why was international used? If the translator can... more>> mess up such simple terms, what else has he/she messed up on? <<less

It started out to be a story with good potential. The MC is going through the "weak to strong" route and there were lots of fights worth reading. The translation is okay as well.

However, the issue lies with the story itself, by how it was written by the author. By the time it hit the arc where he was teleported elsewhere (not sure, about Ch200+ maybe (Volume 5) I realized that the wash, rinse, repeat in this story is so heavy and the "praise be the MC" reaction chapters so... more>> sickening that the plot had hardly advanced. Everything is about the crowd's reaction and disgust-turned-shame-and-respect. The side characters have flat personalities. There's a limit to how much an author can milk a story to stretch out the word count, and me? I've long reached my limit with this story.

Sorry to say this, but after reaching till here, I felt like reading this story made me dumber. There's no advancement in the writing style even after so many chapters. My head is literally aching right now.

I gave the story several chances to redeem itself. But sadly, I can no longer tolerate it. I have to drop this novel, not because of the translation quality but because of the author's writing itself. Ah, such regret because I do think that the mystery of the Painting is interesting and I'm leaving it when it's still unsolved. <<less

The story is a very ordinary xianxia - tr*sh boy lucks into getting himself an ancient grandpa alchemist as a master, who easily solves the problems with his body, enabling him to join cultivators and become a godly alchemist himself.
One bad thing is that so far everything comes too easy for the MC - he practically stands around and steamed buns fall straight into his mouth; there isn't even any foreshadowing - someone describes a power, and MC immediately gets it, and any new problems that arise are solved... more>> by that very power he just obtained.
Also I don't like how author abuses the "random people try to pick on MC just because he used to be a tr*sh" trope. <<less

One of the worst xianxia novels I've read so far. Excessively OP MC, who tries to appear modest and stay lowkey yet acts even more arrogantly then any of thouse one-dimentional young masters whom he mets. The beauties who continue to pop out time from time all fall for MC at first singht even without him doing anything. That 'magestic blood' of his that appears on the bodies of people at random is the s*upidest thing I've seen. It makes me think that author tried to add something original instead... more>> of all those magical treasures, yet he failed miserably since trying to use it as an excuse for all those povers that MC gets is simply too much. And why did he got sealed after beeng born? Why not just kill him instead? He was just an infant and couldn't retaliate at all. Author's writing talant difinitely isn't high. <<less

Generic xianxia. Don't expect anything groundbreaking or genre changing. But the novel is a fun read if you like an extremely overpowered MC. The MC is more mature than your typical xianxia MC and it decent amount of depth to the novel. Similar to Emperor's Domination with how stompy it feels.

First, MC in this story is no poor guy who raises in power despite the odds. He is born with potential that threatens the heavens, so **** put seals on his body to stop him from cultivating. That premise is cool. Problem is his karmic luck is off the charts.

MCs are usually lucky if they find one immortal teacher to guide them, or just legacy of one. MC in this novel gets 9. Maybe some MCs get amazing ability that help them raise in power, MC here gets two in... more>> like 20 chapters, each with multiple different uses, each heavenly defying. Maybe some MCs find special treasure that helps them raise in power... MC gets 3 of those for free right off the bat, each one of them stuff that strongest ppl in the world seek but cannot find.

And while all these are cool, he does not even need most of them, since he can use his teachers power, which makes his cultivation 1 level above anyone else in the region he lives in.

Still, it's just first 40 chapters and there is potential for the story to improve, so I will keep an eye on it. <<less

This story in my opinion is not that bad, I agree with the other reviewers that this story is not meant to be a serious story. Read when you are just bored and got nothing else to do it's just an OP MC doing OP shit.

I mean I quite enjoy this one truthfully it's just there. No real plot just sh*t loads of power ups after another.

It's not a horrible story, but it's not good either. One of the other reviewers likened it to fast food. Very apt comparison, it's readable, but not very good. The MC immediately gets anything he needs, meets lots of girls who amazingly are all beautiful. All the enemies are quickly and easily dealt with. Simply, no challenge, little growth.

Every minor and major plot is rehearsed over and over again. And all of them revolves around women. Beautiful near perfect women. Of course the author would make sure they fall in love with our MC. Which is ironic because author made our MC a WIMP!!!

I don't get why bother involving women in almost everything in this novel if you were just gonna make a wimp of male lead?

Answer: Troll. Yes. This author is trolling us.

TLDR: Garbage novel. Waste of time. Avoid.

The novel started out uniquely generic, that being he was crippled and he obtained a fortuitous chance. Then it all went downhill from the author making everything coincidental, the MC obtains everything that hasn't happened in... forever, but never uses it more than once. For example, he obtains one of the strongest powers to exist; he uses it twice or so in the early chapters... never to be seen again.

Overall, the author is bat sh*t crazy with description, every chapter that the MC fights, he must use every cliche sentence... more>> to talk about the MC, from the most petty fights "It shook the 9 heavens and hells" this being when the main character was one of the weakest in the continent at the time. Don't even get me started with the main character's ideals "I won't let anyone that can harm me stay alive once".. one chapter later "Go! you are worthless; oh you brought more people to attack me after I gave you mercy" EVERY SINGLE f*ckING TIME.

Lets not even start about the mc's ideals about master's and apprentices. the first immortal he took as his master, the other 8 he says f*ck you, I only have one master. <<less

Nothing worth to note about this novel. MC just happens to be tr*sh and experiences the law of the jungle wherein the weak are eaten by the strong. MC gets fed up by it and poof discovers op inheritances with souls of the owners of each inheritance keeps bragging to him about how lucky he is to be chosen by them. (In cause you didnt catch up then thats basically the title of the story) 9 paintings, 9 inheritances each with their own op legacies and treasures.
