This novel is just a casual account of an ancient girl who time travels into modern times—the various life encounters and feelings of being in the future. It’s also a running account of the life changes undergone and the feelings of a modern young man after taking in an ancient girl.

The series translator here! I come with a WARNING.

There is an 11 year age gap between the main pairing. Mi Xi came from ancient times and she's 17 years old when she time travels to modern day—Chen Ying is 28. So yes, she’s legally a minor in modern times—which is one of the main relationship roadblocks set up by the author. But in Mi Xi’s own words, back in her hometown, she would have been a wife and mother of two already, if not for Unforeseen Things Happening. She lacks... more>> the common sense a modern 5 year old would have—and it’s frickin’ hilarious—but she’s not a child. She’s the eldest di daughter from a General’s household, and she’s pretty bad ass in both her skills and righteousness.

If this is not your cup of tea—just walk away. There are many, many other novels to read out there (´ ᴗ｀✿).

That said, the story is mostly funny, and unexpectedly heartbreaking at times. Mi Xi is doing her best. Chen Ying does too, but he tends to blunder around more, although his intentions are always good. <<less

This author has a way of creating characters that make you root for them. They're not perfect, even annoying sometimes, but they think, act, and feel like real humans more than other characters would under other author's pens.

A little too long-winded for me.

ML is a pretty solid character, realistic/3D. FL on the other hand as far as the chapter I’ve read is still pretty much 2D and still haven’t adopted to modern society much. But the others are very lacking in comparison. So far anyway other characters are pretty much identified as so-and-so’s whatever-relationship/doesn’t want to be responsible for Mi Xi.

Adding to that a mishmash of things I could really care less about. Like that ex-queen actress’ business or Wang scum something. And all of it going... more>> on at basically the same time. Idk if any of these events will be of any relevance in the later chapters but I’ve ran out of patience to find out. Maybe if the author actually focuses on something first then on to the next, instead of switching up here and there every now and then. <<less
