Lee Jung Woo was the epitome of a successful man able to provide for his family in the modern-day world. However, his ongoing relationship with his wife had always been a rocky wave, never smooth sailing due to his less-than-average looks, small stature, and tiny manhood almost the size of his finger.

After learning his loving wife’s love affair, a tragic death befell him and he appeared in the face of God. Finally able to let out all the sufferings and injustices he faced throughout his life, God allowed him the chance to reincarnate. Jung Woo was given the number three-hundred. Using those stats, Jung Woo distributed the stats to his height, intelligence, and manhood before reincarnating in the body of the young Lee Do Hoon.

Jung Woo, who now lives the life of a college student, Do Hoon, is given a gift from God that only he can use. He, now the main character of the show, will use it to meet myriads of women and achieve his unfulfilled dream.

This novel is not meant for people who genuinely believe that they love themselves, to the point where they're able to accept things the way they are. This story is wish-fulfilment. It follows the generic pathetic, useless, naive, ugly, short, disgusting beta MC. That being said, like many novels of this calibre, these MC's go through a transformation.

This is that transformation, done right.

EDIT: I deleted my large review because the dear reviewer deleted their review. I also had to delete it because it broke the Guidelines;

... more>> Reviews should NOT contain:

  • replies to other reviews. This means mentioning another user and replying to a specific review.
I have to respect them for deleting their review, but by doing so my review becomes pointless and disregards their change of opinion (perhaps they didn't change, but it's all in goodwill).

EDIT 2: I've decided to reinstate my old review, but crossing off the names. If NU doesn't like this, I'll delete it again.

Numbered list & Italics is the review made by ---------.

...

Now, a reviewer by the name "---------" pointed out a very 'opinionated' perspective of this novel. Let me explain why it is that way and my own perspectives as a male.

  1. "Excuse me? This novel basically implies, that if you are a successful and decent man but not very good-looking, less than average tall or (shock!) have a small *****, you are completely without value?"
You miss the point. This novel is meant to allow freedom from the prison of modern societal norms and a perspective of one degenerative useless man reborn as a man of quality, handsomeness and talent. That doesn't define the true statement of real life, where all of us can't transform into this 'perfect' or 'ideal' person, because that's now how modern interpretations work. Sure, the MC is successful, but that's purely through effort, which anyone can do in order to survive this society. Yet things like genetics are out of our control - imagine asking an ugly person if they choose to be ugly, or someone short if they choose to be short. Success can be attributed to a wide scribe of factors, but physical appearance can't be changed no matter the standard. That's why men who feel this way exist, and why this novel exists in the first place. Yes, I guess that this novel might have a hidden agenda, but in the end, it's a book of wish fulfillment.

  1. "And that's why this MC gets some godly power to turn himself into a handsome hunk and is finally the ultimate winner in life?"
Yes, that's why we read stories like this. We want to escape from how society views us because we feel insecure. By reading a story of uglies transforming into pretties, we become rationally more motivated to change, because it's f*cking more pragmatic. We live in an age where men can't find a need to date, due to how strictly ideal a women's standards are, and most men can't FIT that standard because it's practically a wish. Your term on "ultimate winner" makes sense, but you miss the statement, because 'winning' is the same as 'living with happiness' to these people.

  1. "I really don't like what this novel is implying to its readers. Especially to young impressionable kids."
I understand this and I fully agree with it. But another point to understand is that this novel puts things in perspective. Although the message in itself is horrible, you could fully understand and empathize, even if you're a young reader.

  1. "And yeah maybe it's just a book and nothing serious - but that still doesn't mean that this topic is acceptable."
I appreciate your understanding, but as a person who has gone through what the majority of men have, I would like for you to agree that we live in a world of wishes. This novel approaches this topic of wishing because the majority of men want it. It's a book, after all, authors need to write a book to eat and since this topic is quite heavy, intriguing and fits the basic seinen audience, we can't really complain. Although your opinion of whether this topic of modern insecurity might be correct and genuine, I would like to disagree. Anyone can write about absolutely anything, and people like to write about this; even if some authors tend to be more schadenfreude.

  1. "And btw I'm a female so it's not my damaged pride that is speaking here - I just know a lot of guys who are struggling because of such things and I think this novel is idiotic."
Unfortunately, I'm guessing those guys are most likely lying. I don't have a say in that matter, but what men tend to do is lie to exaggerate in a situation or relationship even if the matter is extremely simple. Men who understate are those who have achieved acceptance over who they are whether through egotistical behaviour, natural maturity and even narcissism. To face people with the desire to do something romantic is quite substantial and some men (especially uglies) would 100% agree because they live in a sense of insecurity and low self-esteem. Men lie (especially on the internet) to women about themselves because their life is either too boring or they're way too far from the ideal standard for a handsome, tall, attractive man. Those guys you mentioned? They struggle, sure, but they haven't told you the full story in fear of being weak in front of a female (this is 100% true). Furthermore, I don't know your or their situation or circumstances, but I would say that I can generalize what they express because almost all men go through it.

And again, this novel isn't idiotic. Even if the writing, plot, character doesn't suit your tastes, the idea will always stay the same.

Thank you and I sincerely hope you give this another chance, ---------.

*claps* Simply amazing, Valven. You spoke my thoughts.

I'm not sophisticated enough to say serious stuff like that, but what I can do is write about how I'm feeling hopeful about this novel.

I'm a big fan of wish fulfillment novels because of the satisfaction of the underdog protagonist exceeding everyone's expectations. It's like Lookism but less gang fights and more romance and s*x.

... more>> It's also a bit unfair how there's so many 1 star ratings despite the fact that there's only one chapter, so I'm upping the scale a little.

Wait for the rest of the novel to be translated before making a hasty judgement, guys. <<less

Edit: I originally gave it 3 stars but I realize that it might've been harsh as I think it deserves 4.

I should just say that I was quite biased going into this novel. Reading the reviews worried me, so I'll just leave my two cents here. Overall the whole message of the book might be seen as questionable by some and the part about ugly to pretty is sad but quite true. I think the most interesting part is the transformation. The writing isn't quite my style but that was... more>> fine, I'm not sure if I'll finish it and it's not the best read I've had, but it's certainly better than some people have said. <<less
