After being exiled, I decided to fully enjoy the sights of this fantasy world.

“I can’t stand such a dull woman who doesn’t even smile. Why don’t you just go pray for world peace?” With those words, my engagement was broken off. I, the so-called “Dark Mage,” had been cast aside. Standing beside my former fiancé was a sweet-looking girl, a “Healer.”

It was at that moment that I realized—I’m in the world of the game Riaz Life Online.

Honestly, the thought of marrying that fiancé and spending the rest of my life with him was unbearable. Now that the engagement was broken, I chose to exile myself to a rival country. It might be the enemy nation, but as someone who’s already been banished, that hardly matters.

Having originally been a support class, I decided to change my role to a “Healer.”

Can’t switch jobs, you say? Oh, but I can—after all, as a former player, I know exactly how to do it.

EDIT: I found the manga! The story looks much better in the manga even if it didn't change too much (well, so far).

While the beginning is about an otome game, we'll actually follow a gamer girl's journey in the virtual reality game she played in her past life. The two games are related because the otome game is a spin-off.

This is one of the "MC wants to enjoy life but gets involved in a big matter, usually involving the fate of the kingdom/country/world" novel. This is slow-paced, but... more>> the MC's growth seems pretty fast because she meets the right people and makes use of her knowledge about the game.

She doesn't seem to make too much use of her knowledge, though. She almost always just happens to remember them when she/the plot needs it. It stood out to me because novels with this kind of MC usually foreshadow events by mapping out what items they want to obtain and such.

Most time skips are rushing through the travel time from place to place and some battling time, so expect a lot of plot and scenes in the cities and plot-related battles.

A few things confused me at the beginning.

Spoiler

1. What was her family's situation actually like? I was shocked because when they saw her packing up her things, their first reaction was anger and annoyance towards her ex-fiancé, but they seemed to have no concern about their daughter's feelings or plans at all. It was a good thing they made things clearer a few dozen chapters later.

2. What's up with the MC and how old is she? Not the current Charlotte, I mean in her "past life." She was super adaptable to suddenly being in a different world and traveling where there's imminent danger everywhere, but I guess that's just a typical MC setting of not diving too deep into their psychological state...? I am a little concerned.

(Not Detailed) Huge Story Spoilers:

Spoiler

The story from Volume 1/2-4 (Chapter 1-106) was about the MC's journey to become an Archbishop (Lv 100+) but then ended up as a Saint, a "replacement goddess." Apparently, it happened in the span of a few months.

For plenty of chapters, it was a typical gaming novel beginning where she leveled up and met many new friends. I'd say they're pretty nice and uh, convenient because they don't really ask why and how the MC just knew things and trusted her a lot.

The, uh, tension began when the MC met the Pope and learned of the Archbishop's plans to change the goddess the country worships and to collect money from the people when they wanted to do anything with the church, such as entering and asking for healing.

Unfortunately, everything wasn't as straightforward as we would've hoped it to be. However, at least they "thwarted" the Archbishop, and MC finally got to visit her home country after her ex-fiancé "exiled" her.

[collapse]

I like to think the MC was much happier with her friends and her journey, but as I said, the author never delved into the characters' emotional and psychological states that much.

4/5 because it's pretty nice but wasn't super enjoyable or thrilling; it's just a good enough amount and sometimes boring. It wasn't a bad reading experience, but I wish it evoked more feelings from the readers. <<less

First off, if you're planning to dive into this, don't take it too seriously. That's the best way to enjoy it. The author clearly knows their audience—those looking for something light-hearted and fun, with none of the "FMC must be a romance magnet" trope or any of that overt sexism nonsense. It's in the same vein as something like Bofuri: warm, exciting, and playful. (4/5) If that's not your thing, you might want to skip it.

Now, onto the story itself: yeah, it's chock-full of clichés. But here's the thing—it works.... more>> It's engaging, fun, and you won't get bored. The MC, Sharon, goes through job changes, levels up, befriends other characters, grinds, and takes down bad guys. It's not just clichés for fillers; most fits together (at least in a broader sense) as the story progresses.

Though Sharon grew fast.

That said, there are some plot holes—little things that make you go, "Wait, what?" It's like the game world the author built forgets to add certain supporting details (World-building 3.5/5). Maybe it's intentional, like how Didn't I Say to Make My Abilities Average in the Next Life?! Irons things out in later volumes. But ok? It's a bit disappointing when I'm left hanging with questions like "Why?" or "How?"

Overall, the road can be bumpy, but the journey is worth it because of the MC and her friends. I just hope the author delves deeper into the backstories of the side characters soon. Right now, some of them feel like cardboard cutouts, and they deserve more depth. 3.75 out 5 for me. Definitely above average. <<less

TL:DR Turn your brain off...

It's a cute story but don't expect the setting and even some of the plot to make much sense. Maybe things will be cleared up later in the story, but the fact that the MC doesn't seem to be more concerned with the idiosyncrasies of this game turned real is a little weird in itself.

Though it's likely the author just wants to an excuse to make the MC 'special'...

Spoiler

1) The adventurer bracelets that seem to have been forgotten (at least according to the quest giver that makes them) and the fact that there is disputes between countries over class monopolization. Which would be solved by the bracelets ability to trigger job changes. Can they not be mass produced? In the game it seemed that at least every capital city had an npc that could make them, but the story doesn't elaborate on any of this.

2) Alchemy - MC gains a alchemist disciple despite not being one herself. The girls grandmother was an alchemist, and even had her own lab. But for some reason her grandmother didn't leave behind any recipes or books? The girl has to be taught recipes that the MC remembers from the game. In fact this whole world seems to be rather clueless on how to effectively use quite a number of skills (mostly crafting?). Yet despite this herbalists and alchemists are supposed to have some sort of innate ability to know when materials or ingredients are beyond their ability?

3) There are one or more teleportation portals in nearly every major town or location... but most people don't seem to know what they are or question them?

[collapse]

Still enjoyable enough read. I'd say 3.5/5. <<less

I just cant turn off my brain to this one.. A ducal's daughter wandering alone? Left alone by a whole household that basically owns an army? Author is more focused in putting in gaming scenarios without thinking on logical cause-and-effect of events.. Disappointing storytelling..
