Yeah, this novel has a very low rating, even if it is from Qidian. Yet, it is growing on me.

This novel's gimmick is that it is focused on modern military firearms along with some scifi-ish stuff. The MC was transported into another world that has futuristic tech. He's playing in a new virtual reality MMO that features "fantasy weapons" that are surprisingly identical to Earth's modern military weaponry. Luckily, the MC was a private military contractor, aka mercenary, back on Earth.

There are only a few chapters as of the review,... more>> so it is still establishing the setting and relationships, thus the writing is a bit stiff, but it reads well. In fact, it is a couple of magnitudes better than the other firearms related story I've read here: Manuke FPS. My only negative for this story is that so far, it is 99% in game. There have only been brief mentions of the real world, so not much world building yet.

I am hopeful that it will continue to get better. <<less

This novel does have a bad rating but do check it out once. I personally think that the show is great. Not the perfect 5 star show but definitely a 4 star.

The action sequence is very heavily based on gun-fights, the MC being a Sniper himself. The novel is a good shot if your interested into guns, military weapons, sci-fi stuff like robots, bio-chips and stuff.

The story does not have much character development, but you will see great battles and definitely a clever protagonist.

A lot of game and movie references... more>> are present through-out the plot-line and might be the deciding factor on how the main story-line of the game the MC plays 'War'. Although the update rate is a chapter a day, the story till chapter 300 is pretty good, showing some nice battles and cool weapons and scenarios.

Try out the first 10-15 chapters where the first battle occurs, if you like it well and good. The plot gets deep from the 60 chapter onwards approx. <<less

I agree with other people opinion about world building aspect, there are just too few the development in real word.

It getting better on latest translation chapter, it finally progressing. Kinda little bit too late though, you need maybe read about 500 first before it began.

Well it kinda expected sometimes~ cuz usually Chinese novels had more than 1k chapter.

... more>> I stopped reading on 718, it latest translation chapter. There actually the mtl one that already being translated more, but I can't bear reading it... it's makes you losing brain cells.

This novel ranked second on my list after legendary mechanic, with similar genre/aspect <<less

Not sure why the ratings for this novel is so low, but this novel at least to me has many good qualities. MC is smart and calculating, he's generous to his friends and evil towards his enemies. He's not some pe*vert scumbag nor does he lets people push him around. While MC is OP, there are many other players in the game that are just as strong as him and he's at the point of OP where it doesn't get boring compared to many of the novels we have out... more>> there. Side characters have some depth to them and aren't there just to make MC shine.

I ended up binge reading all 500 chapters within a week, I did skip or browse through some chapters, but overall it's a great novel. Its got a good mix of many of the good qualities of novels that are highly ranked. <<less

The world seems interesting and original for a change, although I don't quite understand why the author make the main character travel from a dimension to another to play a video game.

That being said all the chapter I read, there's a lot of info dumping and repetition of information. It tend to kill the flow of the story and make for a boring story.

I didn't see any particular error in English language but as it's not my mother language, I'm not too sure.

My first impression reading this: Extremly sexist without reason.

I continued and will continue reading cause I dont give a f, but if you are sensitive towards sexist stuff I strongly recommend not reading.

I guess this is part of the reason for bad rating (? My first instinct was to drop around chap 40 lol.

Otherwise, decent read, It has a mysterious plot that the author brings back every 100 chapters or so. It may be better compared with others who just ignore the isekai stuff and explain all in the end.... more>> 0 Character development (No that I was expecting it). Was searching for a gun-fight related novel and its quite good in that aspect. <<less

Despite comments suggesting the low rating is unfair I wouldn't agree. The translation is not great. It's not bad on the level of an MTL but it's definitely difficult to read because the grammar is lacking and so it doesn't flow well. On top of that the story is just okay, the protagonist has no real goals and is just aimlessly playing a game to complete quests. The author spends way too long discussing the stats of items in game and fights take like 15 chapters so they become quite... more>> a slog. The author does several things well so it's such a shame that the story is really underwhelming and aimless

  1. The world created is relatively believable in some ways e.g the game is so important because it is a tool used by the government to keep the people busy as most work has been automated.
  2. Unlike many mmo stories this story manages to stick with the idea that it's just a game, the MCs don't get super attached to npcs for no reason or super outraged at the idea of pking as if it actually matters.
However because nothing in game matters (the npcs are just npcs) it means that the quests don't feel important and because the MC has no goal nothing feels like it matters at all <<less

Not sure why this has a low rating. So far it's been pretty good. It's a bit slow till a hundred chapters but quickly stars moving after, though definitely not as quick as a xianxia or wuxia novel

It's definitely worth a try to read

Spoiler

right now the whole plot still isn't too clear but the game world is definitely connected somewhat to the real world.

rating should be: 4.5 stars

the first hundred chapters were a bit boring but picked up quickly afterwards. This is a very interesting novel. Don't judge it too quickly.

there's also a lot of movie references like resident evil, star wars, terminators which makes it fun especially if you know what it's all about.

Unlike other VR games this doesn't delve much into the offline stuff. There is barely any offline stuff and some of things don't even make sense but it is a decent time pass. If I like something I might read MTL as well to complete the story but this isn't one of those. The reason being that I am more than 50% on the novel and the main plot is barely explored. "Outer" planets are talked about but never explored. So, my worry is that this has a bad ending.

Still... more>> it is half decent novel in a world full of tr*sh and bad novels. <<less

This is an interesting story. Though there's not much character development currently nor much plot I'm enjoying this novel.

The worldbuilding is sufficient and believable and the game world id treated as a game and MC doesn't get attached to NPC's and PK's pretty well.

Sometimes the heavy emphasis on equipment stats gets tedious but it's a game world and yes in games I too obsess over stats so it doesn't bother me.

Overall this is a decent read. I would give it 4 stars but Qidian's translation sucks so 3 stars. I... more>> know that more people would like this story if there was better quality translations. <<less

I don't understand why the ratting is so low, but I would put a 4, 5/5.

The story is quite interesting with the MC being teleported during a mercenary mission in Egypt from our normal earth to another place in the universe, or at least, it's how it is at chapter 135, but few informations is known about that.

There are few informations about what the MC has done in the years after he arrived in this sci-fi human civilisation, but it's not really an issue and a bit part of the... more>> mystery.

The story is mainly centered on the virtual game the MC is playing, but we also follow the MC in real life, event if it's only 5% of the story for now. I said "for now" because it seems that the story has events/things affecting the real life side.

The virtual game is based on the use of firearms but also magic even if the MC only uses firearms and I have to say that the game components are well done/described, so that the MC is never that OP and the fights really good, even when the MC got a big increase in OPness arround chapter 100.

The MC is also not the one that will face slap young masters, even if there are still young masters, and is always cautious, and I never felt bored to read up to now.

There are some elements of the virtual game that are following the plot of fictionnal stories / video games, like Resident Evil, Stacraft, ect..., but with slight differences in the plots and the MC seems also quite curious about the presence of these plots in this virtual game and it should be part of the storyline.

It's overall a good novel to read, and I'm glad I read the previous reviews instead of only looking at the rate, a bit like how are The Gate Of Good Fortune or Dark Blood Age are rated but are still very nice novel to read. <<less
