The MC had a wife in his past life and is looking for other women in this one. He never said his wife was a bad woman or anything. He just said that she was infertile. It makes me look down on the MC. He also said he killed himself to get his wife the life insurance. I feel like the MC is cheating on her and his love was never real. Edit: The MC is a slime ball. He just had a underage prostitute blow him in public. I have lost all respect for this MC. I respect Master Cruches more than the MC and he's a gang leader. Master Cruches is a hero of the people! Edit: This story has gone way down hill. Its just about the MC paying local gangs now. Would the government really let a local gang take 50% of peoples business? Why are they so scared of a small gang? This gang arc is s*upid and has ruined the story. The MC has become a little b••••. Edit: The author wrote a note at chapter 101. It said that everybody hated the gang arc and he won't do it anymore. I knew that arc was a bunch of BS.
- Fun read - It is fun to see how MC amasses his wealth. Everyone likes an underdog to OP transformation story and this is one of them. MC comes from humble background and is quite rational, though a bit 2 dimensional (still its fine) and has memories of the market situation for next 10-15 years and he takes advantage of this.
- Lot of practical business practices - I myself am from India and most of my clients are government department. So when I started reading this LN, I was surprised how well the behavior and practices of the government are depicted in the novel. It is quite similar in core senses to how government behaves and practices governance in India. I found this relatable and interesting.
- Business culture and 80s China - While I do not have any idea about what extent of the culture and norms depicted in the novel hold true to China in its 80s and how much is author's imagination, I found the way in which the business was conducted as well as peer pressure and societal norms explored in the novel about China in its 80s very interesting read.
CONS:- More like chronicles rather than an actual Novel - To be frank it would have been better to make this a fictional chronicles book rather than a novel. The novel just reads like a diary rather than novel. There are few interactions and evolution of the MC in his second life is not explored AT ALL. There is no personal development, there is no emotional moments in the novel.... basically there is no EMOTION in the novel at all. No rage, depression, sadness, anger, lust, love etc. Even the romance between the MC and his girlfriend (later wife) is written without any sort of emotion. The novel just feels Dead and because there are no emotions that readers experience, with 2090 chapters, it can become boring at times.
- ONLY FOCUS ON BUSINESS - I get that this is a business/econ focussed LN. However, I would have liked to see something more than just drab stuffy business guys talking about new business opportunities and rudimentary level politics. The novel feels too 1 dimensional.
However, if you can overcome the overly focussed and boring drone of business talk in the novel, you may enjoy the novel (emphasis on the... more>>the ending really irritated me as they didn't mention anything about marriage and directly went to his son
