So I'm still reading the novel but I'm almost done (will revise my review after I finish) I have to say it isn't at all as bad as some reviews say but I don't think it deserves all the high ratings, it's a middle of the road book. The usual "rubbish MC is actually talented/beautiful, gives face slaps, is beloved by many but only loves ML, etc" MC doesn't need to do immediate action, sometimes she likes to watch her enemies build themselves up before she kicks them down. the really gross poison worm called Gu, the scenes involving the Gu getting out just grossed me out even worse was when it entered the emperor's body ?

this is also one of those stories where if the villains do something wicked to scheme them - like drugging it's bad but if the MC does it it's okay; so if you don't like those type of situations it'd be better to skip this novel.
She started out cold in the beginning but grew warmer as time went on - she's ruthless but also very protective & kind to her people.

in her past life she was an orphan adopted by her master, similarly in her new life - first she was unloved third miss then turned out to be a secret princess with "dead" bio parents, so when she reunited with her body's bio parents I'm not surprised she wanted that familial connection but I felt she was too quick to accept it. Especially since she's always saying her sect Moyu is her family first.

another annoyance was the amount of identities; a few is fine but wow it seemed like she was trying to rival Daenerys Targaryen with how many names/titles she had.

So here are some big spoilers with my comments

So this novel has an in*est tag, I don't know why so many reviews complain about the in*est content when the tag is right there. But none of it is in between our main couple... depending on how you see it. So major spoiler, mqq is not a murong by blood, she's a Feng. Madam murong swapped her out after mu*dering her baby - which comes with a whole nother drama. Feng Cang is her adoptive - not blood related - brother who she met as an adult; she didn't grow up with him, so of course she's not gonna think of him as brother. But I know some people will still say it's in*est.
There's a lot of one sided in*est from cousins towards our leads - which in ancient China was okay if some scenarios. From what I understand, mqq could marry her male cousins from her mother's brothers' kids but not from the sisters, and the reverse on her father's side? I could be wrong. But in the end her male cousin turned out to not be related to her, but there's a similar situation for ML. There's also a pseudo in*est where mqq's sister/enemy wears a mask of a prince's dead sister's face during s*x, her bio uncle/emperor is obsessive love towards his half sister/mqq's mom, mqq's original adoptive brother is there and he has an interest in her.
I'm at the pregnancy plot line, I don't mind it most of the time but right now, I really don't like it. The Gu that was in ML was somehow transferred to her, after she was pregnant I don't know how besides during s*x. They're unaware of the full extent how having a Gu in her will affect the pregnancy but it doesn't sound like a good Idea to me. And her body is weak so she can't abort without risking infertility. I don't know, personally I'd be repulsed by the fact that my 1 month fetus is host to a poisonous parasite, especially after seeing how that parasite affect my husband, so I'd abort. But let see what happens

It's a good plot but so much describing! I almost didn't read half of it yet I Definitely know what had happened.

If you don't know if you should start it or not, don't hesitate and start reading. The challenge is if you want to finish it or not. I may come back to read the rest but now I'm just tired of this.

And I reaaally hate the number of men who fall in love with the protagonist. I do adore the fact that many of them loved her before seeing... more>> her beauty but still I hoped some of them were truly her friends

I must admit, for a bit I found it a little boring. But it is a good, solid story with interesting characters. I loved the ending. If you decide to read it and after a while, don't want to finish it, skip to 209 so you can see how it all gets wrapped up.

This story has a female lead who transmigrated with awesome assassin skills. She enters the body of an abused young woman and maintains that identity until she meets her life partner. Along the way to the nuptials she is met with many near death situations. Not just for herself but to other characters who are would be lovers or love rivals. There is the favor of probable in*est and blatant debauchery. I followed this novel assiduously til the end when her initial intended spouse goes insane. Soon after it... more>> is revealed that her last would be suitor, now turned eternal friend of the family becomes a surrogate parent for the first born son and the last born daughter. Ending with a May/December relationship. How a true power couple could settle to have their children raised by this friend is not feasible. They were strong prideful, loving parents. With the support of close family and friends to assist in the rearing of the children why would they give them up and only see them once a year for brief periods of time. Was this the debt they owed to the friend who even sacrificed his own family to assist his unrequited love for the female lead? All in all this is a great adventure that culminated with union of true lovers and the reunion of the family with a lot of rocks or even boulders thrown in the way from time to time. <<less

It gets a little complicated with the multiple characters and like the unnecessary dramas that the author decide to throw in. Its the whole world is besotted by the FL and how Mary Sue is she. But there are definitely some memorable romance scenes.

Slow moving to the point that I wanted to skip ahead and skim read chapters just to get to the parts where the main character becomes the "cold hearted, ruthless" person she's made out to be and actually does something. Couldn't be bothered to continue reading, there's too much wading before getting to the good stuff.

I like how the MC and ML procedes with their love life and how the side character don't just appear a chapter then dissapear the next and never to come like other chinese novels i've read though there are a few things I didn't like about the story like:

  1. Although the story itself was good it took about 5-8 chapters just to get to the main point of that arc
  2. When the ML was first introduced it said a sh*t ton of things just to explain what he looks like and just explaining his appearance takes up like half of the chapter
  3. All the female characters just know how to hate hate hate hate, and I mean real hate and that was even the first time they saw MC like wth??! (Yeah sorry I really have lots of frustrations about that)
  4. And I repeat!!! The most annoying thing in this story is that even if you've like a hundred chapter (like me) you would how some thing would chang in like a zap! And sometimes the plotline even seems forced like

How the MC and ML just suddenly became brother and sister without any notice nor signs of it whatsoever

How we suddenly discover that the ml's uncle is in love with his mother and he is adopted just like his uncle

5. Lastly I really really like this story though I don't like that at the first half if the story it took a log time to progress the whole story and when she came to bei zhou it's like a mahine gun firing up plots and shocking plot twists one after the other.

So like I said in the beginnig it's a really good story though it has a lot of chapter that sometimes don't make sense they make up a pretty good story to binge read IF you have time tho cause this took me like 2 and a half days w/o sleeping to finish (yeah lol I'm slow at readig it I know) <<less
