Hello! I'm the translator of this novel and would like to point out some things for those planning to read it.

First off, as evident as it is from the tags, this is a slowburn BL novel. There will be zero romance in the first volume, and only in the second volume will things start to take a turn. For those who want to read it mainly for the romance between the main characters, this may not be the best book to read since there's a much bigger plot than just... more>> that.

There's a lot of political and royal drama in this novel with some narratives spanning more than 2-3 chapters at a time. In simple words, it's 'plotty' and dramatic.

The women in the novel aren't used as mere plot devices either (thankfully) and they all have their reasons for who and what they are, like the Emperor's concubines, for instance.

However, as politics-heavy as the story is, it was super intriguing even for someone like me, who finds such things to be a pain to read. The love that blossoms between them was also worth the wait, especially the

intimate scenes as well as the Emperor's mostly one-sided jealousy.

This novel is also quite popular among Korean readers and is highly rated, so I just couldn't help myself but translate it to share it with you all (Also, because I truly loved the story and can confidently call this my favorite novel) ;p The writer's storytelling skills are truly impeccable so while I'm not too confident about my own translating skills, I'll try my best to make it seem like a well-written novel to you all as well.

Lastly, I would like to say that while this story isn't one to be liked by everyone, it's still worth checking out at least once and might as well prove to be an exception to all those tropes that you wouldn't normally indulge yourself in. <<less

Let me first state that the Emperor (ML) is such a lucky man to have Eugene (MC), like where can u find a man like Eugene ಥ‿ಥ. At first I thought MC (Eugene) was plain or idk how to say it I just didn't like him at first, but boy was I wrong.... more>> He is such a gentleman with man and women both, such a kind and honest heart he has, and I love everything about him, IM IN DAMN LOVE (ʃƪ˶˘ ﻬ ˘˶)

Now lets talk about the Emperor (ML) and leave my love alone. He is a cunning, crafty, and favors/respects those with potential. With three talented women as his concubines but no Empress. He has no Empress cause he wants someone who can rule a whole country and can be relied on in his absence or when he gone to be an Empress (Eugene where u at). Anyways, this one of my favorite Emperor's in an novel cause he is a capable man who can be kind at times and wicked not unreasonably wicked. He plans everything ahead of time and can control a bad situation when needed.

The rest of the characters u could truly feel them and sometimes even sympathies with them, especially Louise (Eugene's ex wife) bbg didn't deserve that ಢ_ಢ

Anyways, this story has everything u could as for, good relationship between MC n ML, AMAZING PLOT, side characters with stories that show who they are, and this should be tagged as Manly Gay Couple cause MC is soooo MANLY and above 180 cm, he is known as a hero and a Vice Admiral in the navy, and he can deal with a whole ship filled pirates and he is such a sexy and fine man ~ (˘▾˘~) If that ain't manly then what is (nvm it arealdy got tagged^^)

In the end, I would like to say, this is my favorite novel and will always be. And again Thank you dear author and translator ♥♥ <<less

I looooved it.

It's BL, it's political, and just has the right amount of drama to spice things up.

And it's set up like in the medieval period (though it's just my assumption).

All the characters feel real, do you get it...? It doesn't feel anything like 2D, even though it's fiction.

This one earned a special place in my heart and I hope that if the translator ever sees this, then they get it how much I cherish this story.

Love this, beautifully written and translated. I've read many light novels and am always delighted when I stumble upon a gem.

The plot is simply unnerving and honest to God, with the way things are moving I feel like I am a by stander to the sordid happenings of the upper class elite, it looks realistic.

This is one of the most well written novel I have ever read. Each character has a purpose and each thing introduced in the novel is related to another. The translator did such a marvelous job at translating the novel that I, someone who cannot comprehend Korean at all, can understand and enjoy the novel without troubles. Thank the author and translator for all this hard work.

Exceptional read, in part because of the hard work of the translator. A marvelous display of skill, research, and dedication.

The plot always has me on the edge of my seat with developments in the court and between the ML and MC. The author is great with character work, without the compelling characters and their relationships the court intrigue would not nearly grip me as much.
