One day, Jiao Bai went home and passed by the small bookstore, walked in. The boss recommended a batch of new goods to him with a fatherly face, all of which were rotten. He went home happily, but was hit by a car at the intersection in front of his house, and as soon as he opened his eyes, he was in a BE scumbag.

Hehehe. Jiao Bai folded his hands on his stomach, lying on the big white bed with a peaceful face, he dressed as one of the candidates… of the little stepmother of that scumbag. Oh, by the way, the protagonist in the manhua, the cheap Shou, is the white moonlight of the character he passed through. Now, washing up in the bathroom is an old friend of the protagonist gong’s dad, and next door is the slag gong’s dad and his old friend’s ‘Little Pepper’.

I usually don't write reviews but I binge-read this in two days and sacrificed my sleep and eyesight. So, now I need to find closure by writing about it.

This story and MC is intriguing from the start. He's not pure and innocent, he's the complete opposite. He's very intelligent and willing to suffer losses for long-term gains, but also takes any opportunity he can to punish his wrongdoers. There are some disturbing and violent scenes that can be triggering, so proceed with caution. I usually don't like dog blood and... more>> tragedy but I kept reading because I needed to see MC achieve happiness.

Spoiler

As someone who hates reading about suffering, it was difficult to go through the scenes of him being tortured in that little cage. I hated SJ so much and was glad to see him suffer. Usually I would drop a novel at that point but I was too invested in JB's will to live. It was the first time I've read such desperation for survival.

[collapse]

The ML was pretty clear to me from the start despite the other options, but I wasn't sure if I liked him. As we learnt more about him, I quickly changed my mind. I loved the way they communicated and understood each other. There was a mutual respect that's non-existent in other novels' cps.

Spoiler

QY was a real mystery for the first half of the novel. It was hard to determine whether he was a good guy or whether he'll hurt JB but end up together anyway. As JB unravels him everything makes sense. It's clear to see them care more and more about each other without saying anything. QY is honestly the best- his old virg*n ways and their interactions are hilarious (particularly with his frigging cage).

Learning that QY was trapped in the story because he became self-aware was a great twist. Just like JB is fighting to live, QY is fighting against his fate of being a scum gong. Their relationship is a slow burn which I usually don't like (starting to notice a trend here) but each step felt very natural. QY putting JB as his screensaver was just wholesome shit. Eventually, JB breaks him free from the novel's destiny. In turn, QY breaks him free in the end as well. At times when nobody else believed they would make it, the two never gave up on each other.

QY understands the importance of freedom more than anybody. Whatever JB wants to do or go, he'll support. There was only one time he said no (because of the danger and JB's injuries) however ended up going with JB anyway lol. When JB wanted to go to medical school he built a whole lab for him. When JB interacted with the other targets, QY watched on the side even as others spread rumours. JB also doesn't lead the other guys on even if it would make his missions easier- he would rather endure their anger. Only QY makes him soft.

[collapse]

Though there are a lot of them, most of the characters are fleshed out. It's really interesting to see how the MC goes from seeing them as paper people to developing real emotions for them.

Spoiler

JB is actually quite an indifferent person with only one focus which is staying alive. For some, it might seem off that he can endure being insulted and beaten over and over. Part of it is because he was used to his Aunt's abuse in his original world, but another is that he was somewhat disconnected to his new world. Each time he suffers he'll tell himself that he'll be fine after he completes the mission. There aren't a lot of scenes that show his psychological damage from the abuse. It's not because the author pretends that doesn't happen. After all, other characters are shown experiencing PTSD and drug addiction as a result of trauma. I think it's simply a case of JB's extreme perseverance and his ability to move past things. This might seem unrealistic but it's honestly the only way he could've survived his ordeals with his sanity intact. Someone without his mindset would've been torn apart by SJ's torture or Zizi's revenge or literally dying after finding love. JB doesn't linger on his painful experiences- he never went to visit SJ after, or reunited with the Qin brothers.

[collapse]

The only issue I would say is since there are so many sub-plots, some things end up feeling unfinished. The MC is put in absurd situations, but that's because the comic he entered was absurd. If you don't like complicated and dramatic scenes then this might not be for you. However, the way the MC deals with them is worth it for me. Thankfully there are chapters already translated but I had to finish it through MTL. Hopefully someone will pick up this gem soon. <<less

Hi the translator here, so I am shamelessly rating this 5 stars lol

I might be biased cuz I really like this novel. The reasons are many, 1. The MC is not a white lotus, these days I am tired of reading white lotus MC.

2. The plot are unpredictable, most of the times I couldn't predict what would happened next. I definitely love the author's writing style.

3. It's a dog blood novel with a sane MC, most of the times in this case the MC would miraculously fall in love with... more>> his abusers. At least here he is not (mostly) XD

For short, if you love dog blood novel and scum gongs, you can try reading this one. However the romance is really slow, so don't expect to see some romance development in the first 20 chapters. You might still wondering who is the ML at this stage.

For the translation, it's so so. It's definitely far from perfect. I still hope to see a new translator to translate this. <<less

I am confused.

Dunno if it's my brain, the translation or the novel itself, but I'm confused.

A lot of information seems missing. Or did I skip them? Wtf. All scenes are so abrupt. They happen out of nowhere and end the same.

Or maybe it's just not for me.

That's a shame.

MC seems fun.

Give this one a try!

It's so full of dog blood that it's self-aware (Hehe). This gave the usual genre a nice twist. Concept is well thought out and well executed.

And if you're like me who always looks for a protagonist character that has a good grasp on their autonomy then you're gonna love this. The MC doesn't fall for the usual bullsh*t fed by ML's to self-suffering cheap shous. Abuse? Disguised as love? A big NOPE. MC is always clear headed and your faults would be added in his small... more>> black book for future payback. And yay, no r*pe! There was a scary minute there that MC would be abused that way but surprise! MC managed to avoid it through sheer wit.

Speaking of worldbuilding, it's great. There are a few things that went right over my head though because of the MTL. But it's well-established that the world runs on dog blood. People you pass by on the road could be embroiled in dog blood as we speak, dog blood is the prerequisite for the world to go on. It's the fuel that keeps the planet turning and you'll find it to be an amusing concept. A couple of characters become self-aware and everyone is given a chance at redemption. Not that everyone could make a comeback though depending on their personality. Sh*t gets real. Actions beget real consequences. Charactrers, flawed or personable or has a certain sense of presence could die because of some unwise decisions that would bite them back as the plot unfolds. Not for the faint of heart.

Now, regarding the endgame lover, you won't know it at first and that's part of what makes this special. There's no love at first sight bullshit, characters interact and get to know each other for better or for worse. The loveline does not go for the cliche route and the endgame ML added quite a lot of spice to the story. I quite like their relationship. A bit spoilery from the ML's viewpoint (but I guess you'll know it by then) that is quite unlike other MLs is that he wants the MC to be able to fly, to make his own decisions, face his own adversaries and grow as a person. He does not use love as a chain to break the other's wings. This was the strategy: bait with freedom, hook with respect, and line with patience. But of course, their love is not the sweetly sick kind that would make you barf and bored. It's full of dog blood and it's worth reading 'til the end. <<less

One word. Confusing.

These old mans' behavior... Oh gosh. I just couldn't understand.

One is a sadist. Like to torture people. Treats others as dogs. Gentleman outside, yet crazy man inside.

... more>> The other one is... ummm smiling devil? 😅 A smiling devil in the Buddha's clothing (?) Pe*verted deep inside yet restrained. He will do anything just to make sure that he will not go out of lines. He lives inside a cage that he builds to restrain himself. To restrain his desire and lust.

And our MC is like a poor meat in between those two neuropathic old mans. Ckckck so pitiful. Go to one side, he will be beaten with no dignity left. And go to one side, sooner or later he will enter a mental hospital.

Eh. Such creative story, the author can really write la~~

I MTL-Ed from the start to finish because it's too confusing.

Spoiler

The MC transmigrated into a dogblood novel. So everything is here. Including blood and flesh feeding. Literally. The MC is given love drug once. One of the perpetrators is part of his mission list. He is a special force veteran. To help MC fights with the effect of the drug, he feeds MC his own flesh and the blood. If you are asking why his blood has that kind of effect, it's because when he was still active and doing the missions, he was given a lot of drugs. So... Yeah~

Really good and interesting at the beginning but everything drags for too long which makes me skim through and it becomes tedious to read afterwards.

Also, the ML is still a mystery even after reaching almost halfway through but my guess it's Qi Yiliao although I'd prefer if it was Shen Er'an honestly.

I only like the Jiao Bai and Zhang Zhen in the cast tbh.

I am very happy there is no r*pe bc in dog blood transmigration novels, they normally include it towards the MC and ML even if he's entered... more>> the novel

anyways, I'm gonna drop it for now <<less

Wow, just wow... this is a literal dog blood novel. MC is my favorite. I love him so much. He doesn’t take nonsense laying down. He’s strong and smart.

This is not a sunshine romance, there’s drama and dog-bloodedness every minute 🤣. But it’s not rushed but carefully plotted. I also like the Ml, it might take up to ch 70 to discover the ML but I promise there’s infinite chemistry. It’s not a harem but a 1v1 with a HE so I advise to read if you want to take... more>> a break from “sunshine and rainbows” romance but I can guarantee that the romance is there. <<less

It was good because I like story with MC got abused (or got slapped/punched/spanked with random reason.. like they did something and got hit for it) or hated by others or by ML.... actually I don't want to talk about this but~ who the heck is the actual ML?? Yes, I'm still at chapter 25 but I got really confuse with who the ML supposed to be because MC literally have more interaction with his former owner than the real ML (*hint from desc and I'm asking it without reading... more>> others' reviews.. cuz I don't want any spoiler) ⸌⍤⃝⸍ ಠ_ಠ

At chapter 36 now but let's wait until I complete reading it all to rewrite the full review~ <<less
