Gu Yansheng was suspicious of his every action. He didn't want to admit that he's having feelings for Niannan because he was so used to despising and be disgusted by Niannan. He thinks that all Niannan do was just go gain sympathy. It's better if he just died though.

You know what, when GY is asking for forgiveness, it's like it is Niannan who has sinned to him like WTF. Bro, it's you who abused him physically and mentally pushing him to his end.

I'm not trying to justify Gu Yansheng's physical abuse to Niannan but as what I have read, these physical abuse only started when Yansheng wants divorce but Niannan refused. He's a f*cking scum! I think he was just too desperate to get rid of Niannan (poor baby Nian Nian) What I'm trying to say is please give this novel a chance. Gu Yansheng is not the worst ML I know so please don't just rate it without completing the novel.

And Gu Yansheng's mom is literally sh*t and a hypocritical scum like her son. She was forced marry Guan Yansheng's father (Gu Zeming) and Qin Yunsheng (Qin Qibai's father) thought the she stole the love of his life. After Gu Yansheng was born (the so called heir of the Gu family) he committed su*cide because of guilt and can't stay with the person he loves. At the end of the main text, it can be seen that she regretted Gu Zeming wasn't able to be with the person he loves and was happy for her son for being able to be with the person he loves, Wen Niannan.

Niannan was forced to stay in the relationship. Forced to be in a cage of torment. Forced to be s*upid by the author. Smh. It's a happy ending though. Gu Yansheng gave all his life just to get back to him.

Tang Shuo, you deserve the best things in the world. I sympathize him, he just has his eyes on Niannan that he lose sight of the person who can reciprocate his feelings.

Mo Beiyi has loved Tang Shuo since he was highschool. They are kinda the same like Gu Yansheng and Wen Niannan, but no abuse is done. He has a one-sided love to Tang Shuo. I actually think that he is the most miserable character here. I thought they he will have a happy ending with Tang Shuo in the extra but well the author said that one of the CP have bad ending so it's them. Tang Shuo has fallen in love with him from extra chapters but Mo Beiyi prefers Tang Shuo to be out of danger instead of being with him where it is a life and death situation. He lied to him. He lied that he doesn't love him anymore.

At the latter part of the novel, Gu Yansheng had an amnesia because he wanted to save Niannan. He forgot everything and he went back to his 16 year old self. He was just the sweetest. Ah my heart. When the antidote was ready so that he can restore his memories, he was afraid that he will disappear. HAHAHAHA. After he has recovered his memories, he was still just as sweet. My heart.

Idk we should blame the author for making the characters and other canon fodders s*upid. Like aren't there any CCTV in this novel? How come Shen Luoan got the confidential files. Facepalm for this one.

Also, I hate the fact how the author manipulates the story just to prolong the novel. Like how the hell did Shen Lou'an escape when his engagement to GY got cancelled. How the hell did he find Niannan's location? How did he calculate the right time to push Niannan to get hit by GY's car. (And so much more) A little manipulation is alright but this is too excessive. There are also a lot of misunderstanding to the point it is annoying AF.

MC saves ML he gets kidnapped and beaten nearly to death which results in him going 6 months for therapy/recovery when they are 15. You're telling me during this 6 months none of the ML's family told him it was the MC who saved him?! Or even between the ages of 15-18?They just let him believe Luoan saved him? Then you expect me to believe at 18 the ML's mother talks to MC, why? What prompted her to approach the MC to discuss him saving her son? Then she has them marry?! It makes zero sense.

ML was against the MC from the beginning. He was against the wedding and was plotting divorce since "I do". I am expected to believe that the ML views the ring with MC which symbolizes an eternal marriage till death do them part? No. He was against the marriage and wanted a divorce he does not care about an eternal ring and the whole ring plot line was pointless. So finding out the rings were switched was pointless as it wasn't believable that ML had authentic thoughts about the ring when he hated MC and wanted to divorce him

MC loves ML because he saved him from being locked in a closet:wardrobe once at a dinner party and he likes how he played piano. That's it. He had been nothing but cold and mean to him every other interaction. There should have been at least a few "good memories" of the MC and ML as somewhat friends meeting at these dinner parties and getting along, maybe one occasion playing the piano together. Nope. Nothing. It goes saving him from a closet to MC saving ML with kidnappers then back to being cold/heartless towards him.

ML never viewed MC as even a friend let alone a lover (hence why there should have been more of some friend scenes). I would have loved for a scene where the ML thought the MC was cute/nice and for a moment saw him as more than friends. Nope. Nothing. (First love type thing) I'm expected to believe that 6 years of ML hating and abusing MC that once he finds out it was MC that saved him and is WE he flips a switch and is instalove with him?

Maybe it was the translation I read but it gave conflicting accounts on when the MC's mother died stating when he was little, and then one stated when he was older (like 18). Anyways she leaves a piano which ML destroys, and the pendant which MC puts importance on but never actually shows how important it is? He sees ML with the necklace and doesn't say "hey that's my mother's I have picture proof of me wearing that necklace because I never took it off until it went missing". He just lets the ML keep it? It clearly isn't important neither was the piano because he's just like "okay". I also thought the piano was going to be a bigger plot line besides fodder. I don't see a point in the piano. The physical abuse, the emotional abuse, being locked in the bas**ent were enough to hate the ML. I don't even think the piano was fixed was it?

ML forbid MC to play the piano this was stated numerous times. MC listens to ML. Where and when did he have time to play and record his piano songs?!

Why didn't any of the WE fans find the plagiarized song Luoan used when he won the competition? As it was stated he had gone on numerous interviews and played it several times. There could have at least been some Weibo speculation of plagiarism that gets squashed by Luan in interviews which could be another motivator why he pretends to be WE later on.

The only thing ML suffers with after the divorce is guilt which isn't a punishment at all. Nothing happens to the family business. Nothing happens with his relationship to people. It's not worth it. Very lackluster and toxic. There was no lesson learned and no consequence because MC forgives him rather quickly.

I can see the parallels. Second lead fell in love with MC in high school (made a confession) and still loves him. Just like MC fell in love with ML and still loves him.

His character was ruined as the plot progressed for the sake of MC and ML going back together.

Which only ever happens after like 3 years of abuse, and boy did it feel like a long time for the divorce to happen finally. It felt like I was being edged. You constantly wonder if it's the final straw for MC and it never is.

He's a grown adult but he acts like a child. He wonders why MC is so scared of him and doesn't want to be near him when he's the one who violently assaulted him because he was angry. He has no chill.

ML2 has liked MC since years ago. However, MC has no romantic feelings towards ML2. He's incessantly pushy when he's with MC, and he can't take no for an answer. When MC was in the hospital (after the divorce) ML2 found out about the divorce and was excited about the prospects of pursuing MC and possibly being his lover. Which dude not cool

ML has this misunderstanding that his white moonlight disappeared for years due to MC, but it's because ML's mom paid the white moonlight to go away. And ML's mom never tells ML?

In the past ML gets into an accident and he knows someone saved him. He's in the hospital and he sees a guy walk through the door. And he's like yes.
