Despite being an heir of a wealthy family, all Yao Qi really wanted was to open a small shop and be an ordinary person.

But first a rabid dog pried open the door to his house, then a knife-wielding crazy girl came and called him brother, and then to top it all off, a group of people took away the rabid dog he had painstakingly tamed.

They’re all treating him as a pushover, huh?

—Alright, then he’ll just let them see who the real pushover is.

This is the story of a gentle black-bellied top who was provoked to his limits and pushed himself to rise to power for the sake of getting back his rabid dog bottom.

Gentle black-bellied male god top x fierce and strong bottom who only lets the top bully him.

i genuinely don't understand the low ratings and reviews. The author has stated FROM THE BEGINNING that the ML is batsh*t insane. It shouldn't be a surprise then that he acts deranged and feral. Like this isn't a novel for someone wanting to a deep critique of society and the social issues that come with being mentally ill. The novel is just a love story between two dudes who are weirdly obsessed with each other.

it's also oddly romantic. Even though the ML is never someone you'd like to meet, he... more>> does devote his entire life and time around the MC and im not going to lie that idea--of someone dedicating 100% of their life to you--makes me swoon. (In fiction of course if anyone is obsessed with you irl please call the cops). There's one line where the MC and ML literally want their ashes to be mixed because they don't want to be apart even in death. Like is that not the most romantic things ever?

all in all, I don't get the low ratings because it's just a simple love story of two dudes who can't let each other go. I wouldn't treat it as anything terribly important or deep. It's just cute. <<less

I'm actually surprised by how low the rating for this story on NU is, coz this is a pretty well known novel among chinese danmei fans who like gong MC. To this day it still gets recommended once in a while even though it's from 2016. I personally like this story although I find the MC frustrating sometimes, but I persisted for the ML (I like crazy characters :P) and I'm glad I did. He's so worth it

It was cute at first. Obsessive love and stuff. But I was reading ch10 “thinking aww so cute” when Yao Qi started to talk about how he wants to do the other person and ughhh. It was a long sentence as well. I always knew that this relationship was not healthy but I kept going bc it was kinda cute. Maybe because I’m ace. It always gets s*xual like always. They would have a cute moment and then just get aroused?? It’s boring. Yao Qi treats the ML like a... more>> pet. Even the ML starts to think he’s exactly like a pet. And Yao Qi’s way of making the ML understand that he also cares about him can make you understand how toxic this is. I’m 100% sure the ML would’ve understood if he’d just told him. Like the other comment said I also like the ML but the MC is so frustrating. Again like the other comment said there is also sexism. “He wouldn’t like such a thing only a woman would like right?” Or smth like that I don’t remember the full sentence but it’s mentioned several times and I’m only at ch10.

Anyway 3/10 <<less

Sooo glad I stuck it out! Really comes together.

Lmao @ all the vanilla kiddos who don't bother to know what they're reading before diving in. The rest of us enjoy our meal.

This is super psychological, but not nearly as upsetting as Obsessive Shou Moves On or Buddha-like Rebirth or Before My Withering, all of which haunted me after reading rather than satisfying.

... more>> It's short, kinky, emotional, gloriously self-aware of its raison d'etre (cartoonishly exaggerated drama and violence tropes purely for fun's sake).

As someone who's personally dealt with violent sociopathic tendencies and secondhand fawn-trauma-response-autists, I actually felt pretty well represented by this author. It's not common to find a fictional character who can express the inner conflict and confusion of trying to grasp and control violent impulses. I also distinctly recall a psych therapist describing me as a hedgehog as well lol.

I also don't often find loving service tops who are also hard doms, and MC who's invested in the emotional growth of his adopted crew of crazy. It was impressively and heartwarmingly familiar to how I conduct my own personal affairs tbh.

The whole hypnosis part is worth a real roll of the eyes, both excessive and unsatisfying, but aside from that it's pretty typical dogblood criminal violence. Nothing particularly noteworthy if you're already someone familiar with the common conventions of genre fiction.

CG's translator offers plenty of warnings on top of NU tags, so I'm really confused why kids keep reviewing this story gobsmacked by how "unhealthy" this relationship is. Like, hello, the characters aren't healthy psychologically, that's the whole point? It's like reading gay p*rn and being shocked there's pen*s. Nobody reading this should be expecting a how-to guide on healthy relationship building. That's on you. Get counseling for your own issues of being emotionally neglected by your parents, and leave the rest of us grown-ass adults to gleefully analyze our literary entertainment for fun and to explore the variance of the human condition as the ancestors intended. <<less

The reason I don't like this is not because the ML is crazy or obsessive like other reviewers like to think, but because the ML is honestly a terrible character through and through. And I don't mean it's because he's 'mean' or anything like that but he's honestly, horrendously written, the way he acts and reacts to things done by our MC honestly don't make sense in accordance to what the author has previously told us about him, he's supposed to have been a psychiatrist but he has never demonstrated... more>> that he understands even basic empathy skills. The author wants to make him out to be some pycho who is really intelligent and is emotionally smart but only likes one person, when in reality he is just a pycho, nothing more, nothing less, for example, for some reason our MC just becomes so obsessed with him and the reason the author gives is just, 'hes just too manipulative oh no'. Furthermore, the way the MC and the ML interact is just unpleasant, honestly from the beginning to where I stopped, I did not once feel any sort of love or obsession radiating when they were 'lovey dovey' only possession. Like someone said before the MC is just the ML's dog and not endearingly, no, he's just a mut to him. The MC deserves so much better, especially after what he went through in his childhood and with the ML but no the author gave him that monstrosity. Our MC deserved to be treated right, but he's not even being treated okay with the ML. I expected the MC to get showered and smothered in love so much that he got sick of it, I wanted the ML to be so sticky that he would literally tie the MC to him, I also wanted the MC to be so overwhelmingly angry over what th MC went through that he takes some precautions so he never has to be hurt ever again, that's the type of ML our MC deserved, not this wannabe serial killer.

P.s don't get me wrong, I love pyscho obsssesive ML's (you would cry for me if you saw my reading list..) but this is just not it. <<less

well this story is a very big mess reminding me a lot of the su*cide squad movie with a weird yakuza trope. Though I wanted to drop it at chapter 17 but I decided to preserve until the end so I could write a true review for this story, but first thing first, the relationship between the main leads it is really unhealthy with the most unreasonable beginning.

then there were sentences like

Spoiler

many psychiatrists were killed by their patients. Like where the dear author came up with this news I don't know.

[collapse]

and there was like any other danmei discrimination against women like these sentences

Spoiler

generally speaking women's sensibility is greater than their rationality or their emotions are more likely to dominate their decisions and behaviors.

[collapse]

and could we take moment to talk about the mother she was portrayed here as if she was in wrong to not like him but then again its natural for a r*pe victims to not be able face the child born in such situations and would like to terminate such pregnancies but also some would give birth and love the child so lets not make it like she was the monster when the preprayer is the one to blame for all this. Then again what is with a psychiatrist whom is a really selfish man, when the basics to work in mental illness system is to be companionate and understanding and in the end my last complain is the vey last chapter where weird as hell. <<less

It’s a short and unique story. I liked the main story, but the extra where how MC would live if ML died made me really uncomfortable. I took off a star for that. But overall the story is quite interesting, although a few parts do make you feel uncomfortable.

I started this off expecting two people obsessed with each other but instead I get a terrible dynamic of a couple. I could tolerate ML but for the love of me I absolutely detest MC. Sure he can be uncommunicative, toxic, manipulative, and sadistic but I cannot stand cheating. I just feel bad for the ML. He deserve a better partner.

lt should be 5 stars as I'm enjoying the rest of the novel, but I had to take it down to three. I won't delve into it (lest I spoil), but so far, Yao Yue is really annoying me. She's exactly the type of character that I hate so much- clingy and insistent when not wanted, just like a leech. And I hate even more when they try to make me feel sorry for her.

Normally, I would have dropped the book long ago just because of her, but apparently she... more>> gets better later on so I'm holding on hope.

Other than that, the book is quite interesting. A bit childish in it's writing, but it's interesting and that's all I care about, so... 5 stars. Some people don't like it as they think the relationship is toxic, and I really don't know what they were expecting. The tags make it pretty clear.

Maybe my standards are just lower due to the radioactive wasteland of other BLs, but I do think the relationship is quite sweet, with consent and boundaries.

But that's only so far, and I'll update on whether it gets better or worse

Update; Yeah it got better. Maybe because I gave myself breaks in between to calm down, I eventually could look at her without wanting to punch something. I did get pissed about Su Yu getting off the hook, but eh, we can't win them all🤷 <<less
