After Transmigrating through Books, I Transmigrated Back

Description

After transmigrating through different books, Xu Qiao finally returned to the real world. However, he became the target of online ridicule in the entertainment industry. Xu Qiao, branded as a mere vase, lacked singing and dancing skills, possessed no acting talent, and was particularly disliked for his personality. After a scandal involving drunken misconduct, Xu Qiao disappeared from the public eye for a period of time.

Making a comeback through a poorly made web drama, Xu Qiao took on the role of the third male lead. This character was a disliked brothel attendant, irritatingly portrayed with flamboyant makeup.

Fans of the original work expressed their disdain for this detestable character, stating that having Xu Qiao play the role was like a true-to-life representation.

After the web series aired, on-screen Xu Qiao mesmerized with silky, flirtatious eyes and seductive red lips. Swaying a wine glass, he embodied the intoxicating demeanor of a tipsy concubine, truly resembling a refined imperial consort.

Netizens: “Bro, who are you???” #Is it still possible for haters to convert into fans now?# #The male celebrity I once criticized eventually became my ultimate bias#

[Author’s Guide:

1. heaven-defying golden finger, made for fun

2. fictional setting, no need to overthink

3. author’s writing is amateurish with flawed logic, so feel free to drop it without notifying]

【T/N: PLEASE READ. PLEASE READ!

1. This story is highly MC-centric, with an overpowered MC. As clearly stated in the author’s note, he possesses a heaven-defying golden finger. HIS ABILITIES ARE A KEY PART OF THE STORY, so expect frequent emphasis on the MC’s OPness throughout the story.

2. Romance is slow-blooming and secondary to the plot. No tooth-decaying fairy tale love story here.

3. The primary focus of the story is not on the transmigration itself, but rather on the MC’s life after returning to the real world, as indicated by the title. No world-hopping adventures here.

4. Lastly, as the author humbly mentioned, the writing is AMATEURISH and contains flawed logic. If you’re looking for a tightly-constructed narrative with polished writing, THERE ARE OTHER BOOKS THAT MAY BETTER MEET YOUR EXPECTATIONS.

READER DISCRETION IS ADVISED. Thanks for reading this first.】

Well, even if it says heaven defying golden finger it kinda has an explanation? So I would say it's good.

I loved both MC and ML, both seem likable. Now that I finished reading, found many plotholes? Not main ones, but some sides that left me thinking a little about the story but it says it was written for fun so it's ok.

Overall a good novel, you just don't have to analyse everything.

Recommended, doubt reread as I enjoyed it a lot and don't think I'll forget easily about it.

Spoiler

To be honest, the most interesting part is the... hide? plot about the transmigrator from the first book that remembers completely every life and is becoming crazy, MC as a transmigrator who came back to his real life without much memories and ML as (kinda) the reincarnated man who never could be truly together with his loved person. I think it could be used as a plot for another book even but idk, just being a little crazy there

Second time reading it. The first was two years ago (?) I'm not sure, but all I know is that the experience this time is better than the last. Somehow, I gained a deeper understanding of the MC and even caught on things I missed during my first read.

Contrary to almost everyone's assumption, this isn't a face-slapping novel. The MC is not into face-slapping. He doesn't care much about revenge or he doesn't think that the "villains" are worth his time. He just want to live his life in this... more>> normal world as best as he could, which is understandable given how he spent centuries or even thousands of years in different abnormal world settings.

Spoiler

I thought this is pretty much obvious when a former teammate snatch a role from the MC, but the MC just shrugged it off. When his manager and company kicked him out, he just shrugged it off. When he was blacklisted, he just shrugged it off. Instead of wasting his time plotting revenge, he looks for other opportunities for himself.

[collapse]

👉 Someone already pointed out that this isn't revenge-driven. It's true. I don't even think the MC considers the "villains" as enemies. As OP, maybe their schemes are nothing but child's play in his eyes. I just love how cool and chill he is.

Spoiler

I also don't agree that the bad guys didn't get their comeuppance. One got backlash from the netizens, one (who snatched his role) got to play second fiddle to the MC in the end, one got arrested, and one was literally dying, so MC didn't even have to do anything.

[collapse]

His transmigration experiences weren't detailed, but based on the snippets, it's not hard to imagine how sad and exhausting his life has been as a world hopper. One lifetime is already tiring, what about 12 more?

Spoiler

As for why the MC didn't do much acting, I think someone missed the part when the sickly CEO villain basically BLACKLISTED the MC from appearing in tv series and movies.

[collapse]

Or maybe it's mtl issue.

With the late romance tag, I think it's common sense that the focus wouldn't be in the romance. But for me, the romance and the ML aren't bland at all. It's just the right amount of sweetness and spiciness.

Spoiler

ML helped MC secure the male lead role in one project, he practically caught the MC princess-style when MC's former agency pushed him down the building, he hired two of the best videographers and even lend high quality cameras for the documentary MC was in, he wasn't afraid to tell the whole world that he's in love with a fellow man, even at the expense of his own career.

[collapse]

I love the slow-burn romance and the fact that ML seemed to can't help but be drawn toward the MC over and over again.

I know some people have high standards, but let's give credit where credit is due.

Overall, if you're expecting an over-the-top face-slapping and full-on romance, this one is definitely not for you. <<less

. His relationship with the ML is very cute and will give you diabetes. He can also be a bit dense, intentionally or not, which add to his charm imo.

Basically, this is a "feels good" novel so anyone reading this shouldn't expect deep lore, plot twists, or any can of out-of-this-world writing. I still really like this author and would def recommend this to anyone who just wants a fun read.

EDIT: finished mtl-ing the novel. After reading through the whole novel, I want to revised my statement about this being a faceslapping novel. Although the entertainment aspect is very prominent in this novel, and how MC is OP af, I would say that this is more of fluffy romance story between MC and ml. They're basically soulmates. And I love how their relationship is portrayed throughout, it feel very natural and certainly a slowburn as they got together officially after 80 chapters. There's not really any angst in their relationship but more of a "feeling realization" and "exploring what this thing between us is". Btw, there's no explicit sexy scene between the two of them but it's heavily implied in like 2-3 parts. <<less

This was great! It wasn’t revenge driven but very sweet. Definitely slice of life.

Very little actual drama. Who you thought was the main villain kind of disappeared after the first half and really wasn’t brought up ever again.

The romance was sweet.

Spoiler

I didn’t like the fact we find out both of them remember BUT DONT ACTUALLY MENTION IT TO THE OTHER. Which is sweet in its own way though.

Now I get why this novel have good rating even though the reviews was varied. And I'm glad I chose to trust the 5 stars reviews.

The author did Great Job at making MC have so many activities without making it unrealistic.

Let's not talk about MC being OP, but read how the author delivers all MC's skill to us Readers and Audiences in the novel. They don't make him act too showy or flashy, nor it was unnecessary whatsoever. All the skill MC has was what he loves and what he... more>> need for living. I love how well written each scenes when MC show his skills more than once.

Also, it may not be about Faceslapping novel, but doesn't mean us Readers won't get satisfaction when MC show his skill and proving people's low expectations as wrong.

I also love how MC's Calm personality was not Calm as in too tired and far depressed nor Calm as if Indifferent or Apathetic. Now in his real world he just tried to enjoy his life as Calm as possible and to earn money because he and his family need it, and probably not to make himself too depressed from everything he had been through in countless worlds he had transmigrated.

Bonus points, I Love the Fated Lover tag was valid. But put aside ML as his Fated Lover, he truly act like a True Love as in he will Support and Protect MC as best as he can. He can be jealous and protective, but never out of line. He's there to be Support and Backer if it needed, but most important he's there to Love and have their truly Happily Ever After with MC. Also glad I'm already in part where they make it official~

It's not a Heavy novel, but psychological tag has it own reason...

Anyway I pray so hard the rest of the story will have the Satisfaction we need! 🙏🙏🙏 <<less

Before I go write my review, REMEMBER, it's my opinion. My reasons for disliking some of the parts of the story are just a personal preference.

So, what did I like? For starters, let's get this out of the way. MC, like how the trope usually goes, is a Mary Sue - rather, a Gary Stu. We, as the readers, know the deal. He's traveled thru many words thus learning countless talents under his belt. There's nothing wrong with that. I entered into this knowing there would be something like it... more>> so I didn't mind. For a change, the MC is written well-enough. He's not some brooding character but a person who has complex emotions and mature way of handling them.

There are a lot of stuff scattered throughout the story but there are just moments that irritated me to no end. Remember, personal opinion. One of the things that I didn't like was the quick - and I mean lightning quick - way that guys fall over themselves for MC. To be fair, there weren't a lot but it was so ridiculous and I felt was just written in just to show the MC's appeal, which I think was so unnecessary coz we already get his attractiveness blah blah blah.

Another point that I didn't like was the supposed villain. His first reunion with MC made me anxious and downright nervous. But, at the end of it all, he was a backdrop character. He wasn't even very effective with his way of trying to manipulate MC. He was a nonentity to the whole thing and was a terribly useless character that you could literally write him off and nothing much changes with the whole narrative.

But, I suppose, that was the point of the story wasn't it? The past is the past. No matter the struggle in making MC remember his past, it was useless. What was the point of clinging to something that wasn't even real but a fading memory? What was important was the present. I liked that message but I wish the execution was better written.

As for the chemistry between the leads? Very mid. Very bland. Just wham bam ML just falls for MC quite quickly with hints that there might be more. Romance was poorly written as MC's feelings don't appear very organic and felt more like an intellectual choice as he finally closes a chapter and decides he likes ML. Sorry, if you haven't read the story, I'm not being fair. The romance is more nuanced than I give it credit but the swiftness of the development left a lot to be desired.

So, should you read it? Sure. It was a quick read for me. There really isn't a lot of drama to this story. When conflict arises, it's quickly done away with. A few face slaps here and there and some good MC moments. If you have the time, it's a good enough read. Is it deep? Nope. Entertaining? Enough that it at least made me read the whole novel. Try it out if you have the time and see if you like it. <<less

MC is very op. But with the lifetime experience, I guess it's unavoidable. Sometimes I wish I can redo my lifetime so I will have a better life.

This story has a clear conflict and message:

What would you do when you transmigrate across different world's with the man you love, but he does not remember you? What if neither of you remember each other? What if remembering is not a blessing, but a curse that undermine's your self-cognition causing major psychological burden? Is the person they love really the person of this life, or the one of the previous life?

The protagonist Xu Qiao is very overpowered after travelling through 5 or so different worlds. His memories of those... more>> places are heavily suppressed, but he retains the skills he gained. Some of this is quite exaggerated. He spent time in medieval England and learned many ancient foreign languages there. Somehow knowing the ancient form of these languages translates directly into being fluent in the modern forms as well. This may be unrealistic in reality, but I didn't care too much about it as I was reading. His Gary Su aspects smooth the plot along. I don't mind that the author sacrificed the quality of the counterattack, because it allowed the author to instead further highlight the emotional conflict and confusion as he and other important characters regain memories.

It is not like he did not have any talent in his first life either. He was a very promising engineering student who went (completely unprepared) into the arts field in order to make fast money to support his family. He was placed into a group where he was constantly contrasted against very experienced and well trained idols. Only his face outshone them, but just this was enough to provoke the jealousy of a team member who felt threatened by Xu Qiao's popularity. Most of the early smearing in this story is from this small time villain who seems to have seduced both a work colleague and their manager to secure company resources (very subtle hints about him paddling two boats in the descriptions of his actions when with these characters alone versus in the same room). Interestingly, this small villain seems to take the initiative to back off on his own out of embarrassment after seeing the MC thoroughly display his skills.

The big villain, who does not appear until later, is somewhere between malicious and pitiful. His backstory and his current conundrum are truly sad, but he took clear action against the main couple in this world. There is no mission in the real world, no matter how much he wants to blame fate for pitting him against the protagonist despite his "love" for him.
Spoiler

Its confirmed the villain rigs some accidents against the protagonist and I suspect he also caused a car accident that happens to the ML. It's not like he hasn't acted against the ML in other worlds in an attempt to keep the MC for himself.

[collapse]

Always keep in mind as you are reading:

Xu Qiao is Xu Qiao. Xu Siyi is Xu Siyi. <<less

The reviews are all good, so I tried to pick up this novel. And guess what? My choice was proven to be right. I love the characters in the novel whether MC or villain, they are not overly exaggerated.

The supposed to be villain are not very evil, somehow it feels like just an evil thoughts passing by in every single human. So it's very satisfying.

I especially like the MC and ML. MC character is exactly to my liking. I love to see how he so calm in handling the schemes... more>> by those supporting character. It feels like he regard those schemes as water passing by through the lake, an insignificant trouble that shouldn't be bothered enough to affect his life. Somehow, I like this very much.

Meanwhile the ML is truly interesting. I don't know how to say this huh. But his character is also pretty likeable. The author especially did not overly exaggerated the demeanor and personality of each character. Compare to other ML who overly obsessed, paranoid, yandere, and possesive and narrated as the most successful person in the world whatsoever, I think this ML are very good in every aspect.

The author did a very good job in this novel. Love the author very much. Thank you for you hard work, and I will be sure to read your other novel if you did publish another. Also the translator, you also did a very good job. A very high appreciation to both of you. Hope you stay healthy everyday and acquired the big success that you wish someday. <<less

Interesting. At first I thought MC is OP but the truth is, he's not. He's surprisingly human after all the transmigration thing. He's rational, wise, kind and super Jack of all trades (result of the multiple word transmigration).

I also love his relationship with ML so much. Both of them are not the clingy type of lover but will always be there for each other when something happens (to each other).

Remember. Face slapping moment is a must in danmei.

I like that the author is not going overboard with some sensitive topic... more>> and keep it real.

Overall I think this novel is good. Totally recommend. <<less

Worth the read. Though it feels like the MC is kinda OP in a sense, the author did a good job in still making it a tad bit realistic, especially MC's skills. I mean if you transmigrate to different worlds and didn't pickup a talent or skills, bruh how useless can you be? I like that those skills MC pickup feels part of his character and letting them be a natural extension of his interests and needs.

There are a lot of plotholes sooo dont take it seriously when reading.

I finished this novel, and it’s really good! The main characters fit so well together, and their dynamic is just perfect. I totally recommend it! When you read you shouldn’t take everything too seriously and deeply. But honestly, I love the fact that they love each other in every lifetime it’s so touching! It adds a sense of timelessness to their bond that makes the story even more special.

I like that they weren’t really holding on to their (MC & ml) past relationships even though it’s the same person every time.

This is what I was looking for from one of the novels I recently read. [Basically that novel was like omg how could I even like this person, I promised to only love my bai yuegang—BRO THEY’RE THE SAME PERSON, BUT WHY DOES IT EVEN MATTER??]

Yeah so rant over. I find the idea of transmigrating back to the actual self pretty interesting. This is the first I’ve read... more>> of its kind. As the description says, it is actually MC centered. ML didn’t make that much of an appearance besides for romance. At least ML doesn’t have the basic bit*h package—cold, indifferent, domineering— stuff like that. <<less

After I accept that this novel gonna be what ever it is, I put my threshold lower than what I usually have, but wow author, if this categories as amateur I really want to see what mature novel our author can write, just for the fact that they keep logic and try to put scientific explanation into the novel is already hooked me. Also I somewhat sceptical when translator-san said this gonna be slow/late romance (bcs I somewhat hate late romance) but hahahahah no! It indeed considered as slow/late romance... more>> but it just bloom in perfect moment, and for the OPness, I personally don't feel it too much, I find it in line with ny expectation and logic (our MC transmigrate back to his og world and keep all skill he got from so many years in other worlds, ofc he gonna be OP, and author also not make his og body 100% keep up with his skill isn't that logical?) For me this novel it's like drinking cheap floral tea, the sweetness is subtle and it's fragrance is subtle but Although it's not high quality and need time to enjoy (I so surprise that I forgot to check the time when I read this novel) I can drink it. First of all, I'm really thankful to the translator for their hard work in translating this novel.

In my opinion, this novel has great potential to be even better. The setting is unique compared to other novels I've read. While I've come across many stories where the MC/ML transmigrates into a book to complete missions, this is the first time I've read about an MC/ML returning from book worlds. I was very excited at the beginning.

However, as the story progressed, I noticed some flaws that affected the flow of the story.... more>> Don't get me wrong, I don't mind that the MC is overpowered. What bothers me are the plot holes.

Spoiler

For instance, the ML is portrayed as a famous actor, even more renowned than the MC. So why doesn't he have a manager or assistant to accompany him in his work?

[collapse]

Spoiler

Additionally, some scenes end abruptly without sufficient explanation. For instance, what happens to the MC's education? And what about the aftermath of the intimate scenes between the MC and ML? The author only described the initial part—what about the second part where their roles were reversed? Then the story abruptly jumps to the award event. It feels like the author forgot about the ML, who took the time to visit the MC in the mountains and help him with his scene. Dear author, for heaven's sake, he's the ML! How could you just sideline him after he "finished" his role in that scene?

[collapse]

Spoiler

Another example is in Chapter 59, where it's revealed that the MC passed the selection process to become the final candidate for the documentary program. Initially, I thought the selection would involve an interview or something similar, but it turns out the MC had to survive in the wild to pass the test. Isn't it important to write about how the MC survived or got into the program? But no, the author didn't even bother to write about what the MC experienced during his time in the wild.

[collapse]

Now I'm not sure whether to continue reading or drop it. <<less

Overall I liked the story, but by the end I felt tired. And the main reason for that is being over fed the MCs OP brilliance while feeling disappointed at the MANY missed opportunities for depth.

I truly enjoy reading stories where the MC doesn't struggle, it's a good change of pace; however, having it thrown in my face repeatedly is exhausting. Do I like to see MC excel, yes. Do I need anyone and everyone salivating over him throughout the whole story, no. It worked in the beginning, but having... more>> it continue to occur is off putting. Especially when more "screentime" is given to that than development of the romance line and transmigration plot.

Spoiler

Do I need to read implications of the brother wanting a more than brotherly affection in the same chapter you have our ML and MC make out, nah weird. Or have a strange man met once in the Serengeti immediately fall in love with MC only for both plot lines to just disappear soon after. What a waste. I'd rather read filled fluff of MC and ML watching a movie or eating a meal

[collapse]

Furthermore, there isn't really any character depth from side characters. I'm told the manager is good, but like when was he ever helpful? He was just annoying. ML and MC made things happen and solved all the probs. But even the ML isn't really given any depth except when he is yearning for MC.

So well, this mostly left me disappointed. There are better entertainment stories with OP MCs. Ex the number one star in the interstellar era. <<less

3 stars.

Like other reviewers have mentioned, this story is a Gary Stu story through and through. That's not my critique though, my issue with this novel was how it was executed. The premise of the novel was interesting, but the novel just didn't live up to it. Even Gary Stu and face slapping novels can have character development, good plot and good characters, but this is not the novel for that.

My biggest critique about this novel is how the author only uses the plot to make it convenient to... more>> make the MC more and more OP, in a way that doesn't add to his character development at all. An example would be the small incident where the MC had to go to university, and was lauded as a physics genius because of his knowledge from a sci-fi world. And after he was proven to be a genius and a study god, the whole university thing was forgotten and the MC never attended university ever again :D The author also manipulates their own rules to suit their purposes. For example, in the first arc, it is mentioned that the MC remembers events from the other worlds but not the people he met. But somehow, in this special arc, the MC constantly references his mother from this world, only because it was relevant to the plot. The author basically just stretches and bends the world so that the MC would be the most OP in every field.

And don't get me wrong, I do love a good face-slapping but the MC in this novel face-slaps in such a dead manner. Even though he has all these skills, he almost never seems to derive any enjoyment from them. The whole time, it just felt like he was just doing it because it was his job and responsibility (you may think maybe the author is trying to show his emotional revival from being exhausted from constantly transmigrating to being a truly happy person now that he's back, but no, that was just another missed opportunity in this novel).

Not to mention, usually showbiz novels either have great romance or great plot (like interesting plots for the dramas they film). But this novel was disappointing because it kinda did neither of these well. The author barely went into details for the dramas and films that the MC does other than to show off his OPness, and the romance was also lacklustre because I don't really feel that the MC is in love, other than having physical attraction to the ML.

Overall, disappointing novel, had a great premise but was filled with missed opportunities.

Side note: Thank you to the translators for their hardwork! <<less

Abit disappointed, it was below my expectations.

I expected MC to OP in the first place, just didn't expect the whole novel most of the time he was focus on doing TV shows, not even acting.

ML Seems abit boring to my standard, doesn't seem to have a personality except he smell like ginger

... more>> Too much media talk too, way too much focus on fan reactions. It gets old real fast

All the villains didn't even get what they deserved. I mean they should all get their deserve faceslaps, which lacks alot of.

Romance was subpar and abit bland, the past of MC and ML seems to just be briefly skim through, we never get the whole story how they fall in love with each other. I think unless there's arc for the past it's better to choose a ML from the the present, I was expecting an overwhelming CEO or someone from this world.

It is a quick read I finished in one day, there's much to savor though abit bland overall. <<less

Quite fun and relaxing read, as author and translator stated overpowered MC who came back to his own world with some face slapping, minor ‘villain’ who insists upon himself and late blooming romance.

It was enjoyable read with some minor characters fading into fog of obscurity (stepbrother, random french man who got interested in MC, previous ‘enemies/co-workers’), not like they are important, but truly shows that this work is mostly to pass time. MC due to his knowledge and skills from transmigration is very overpowered, I don’t know how he finds... more>> time to manage all of his work xD

Romance is very slow burn and at some point you wonder if it was forced, but later becomes really sweet. Of course, lots of paragraphs describing MC beauty.

Even though this novel embodies all cliche and not polished plot wise, it is still good read. I came here for overpowered MC and face slapping plus some romance and got what I wanted so I am very satisfied :3 <<less

I didn't know why no one mention it yet. But not only this is typical gary stu face slapping story but also very typical webnovel story with ignorant author who didn't do enough research.

Alright there are nothing wrong with both. I like reading gary stu face slapping too sometimes. However this type I can't help but cringe, frown, or feel a bit upset with some stuff author pull off casually.

Spoiler

unintended (?) racism & discrimination, ignorance at how filming is done probably. On top of it all, it feels too old to have a straight ML who questions their sexuality just bc how enchanting MC is and then proceed to secretly taking advantage of MC while still not sure of their own sexuality. Like come on.

Call me sensitive. But you know sometimes you have days when you don't want to read such stories and I just happen to read this whenever I have that day. Or rather it has been such a long time that I read story that do stuff like this anymore. I usually stay away from it. But the summary and the premises call me here.

Well I do like the idea how MC already went to a lot of worlds and gained experience through there. It's much more logical than being gary stu out of nowhere. Although I have a feeling that nowadays authors will do gary stu this way, like they already know this strategy so this is already should be the basic standard to make more believable gary-stu, so I mean there's probably nothing to compliment about.

Alright depsite my harsh words I do enjoy a lot of the face slapping and MC's coolness. I just hope that when you read this you don't have your landmind (pet peeves) being stepped by the authors.

So what I mean, if you expect a common webnovel with garystu and faceslapping story, yes this is one of the story. A casual read that can either make you excited and turn you off, and ended up being mid-low amongst other novels you can find. (Well you probably can still rejoice if you like face slapping with pretty mc). <<less
