After being reborn in the interstellar era, Bo ge, who spent eighteen years stranded on a desolate planet, secretly acquired a holographic helmet without his foster father’s knowledge.

On the first day of the game, Bo ge, from the extreme environment, rescued a tangerine cat capable of transforming into a human. Faced with the unbelieving gaze of the tangerine cat, Bo ge couldn’t resist asking,

“Didn’t your father make you try various poisons every day?”

“No…”

“Have you undergone kidnapping and ens*avement training?”

“No…”

“Have you tried communicating with animals and can you communicate with them to some extent?”

“You’re kidding me…” The tangerine cat’s round face twisted, “Are you a princess?”

Upon learning about the interstellar era, where humans are pampered and protected, and won’t be killed by cosmic radiation when going out, Bo ge, who lived in intense and dangerous environments, fell into contemplation after the Alliance assigned him a partner. (Old man, I don’t believe you!)

/

Lie Beishuang, who had been waiting for the assignment of a partner since adulthood, became increasingly frustrated after seven consecutive years of unsuccessful matches. In a fit of anger, Lie Beishuang joined the interstellar war. After rising to the top position, he decided to change the Alliance’s law and abolish the foolish spouse-matching mechanism.

In his eighth year as chief, just as the amendment was about to pass, the matching system notified him that he had successfully matched with a human who had a 99.9% compatibility and was requesting a call.

Unable to resist the curiosity to see the spouse he had waited eighteen years for, Lie Beishuang pressed the connect button with a cold face, prepared to express his strong opposition to the Alliance’s spouse-matching system.

In the 3D projection, a human youth with black hair and black eyes, fair and innocent, sat at a desk, supporting his chin with one hand, curiously tilting his head, “Uncle, I heard you were originally a leopard, can you transform?”

Staring at the youth’s beautiful collarbone, Lie Beishuang lost control and revealed his tail, fluffy and quite long.

Thinking that he could cuddle with a big cat every day after marriage, Bo ge touched the cat’s paw the size of a sand pot but ended up being crazily s**ked by the big cat, almost being s**ked bald. Bo ge, who was about to regret his past decisions, shed tears.

I read the comment that mentioned having to turn your brain off to read this novel, and they were not wrong.

You read this for the fluff and cute animals. This is by no means a bad novel, it's just that I found myself having to look past a lot of plot holes and things that didn't make sense. One big example would be when
Spoiler

ML was injured and mistaken for a common panther, then taken to an underground trade market and placed with the non-intelligent big cats.

You'd think that with a civilisation so advanced, they'd have ways to tell apart a panther beastman and an ordinary panther. I don't know, maybe their DNA or something, since there's no way the two are the same. And MC happening upon him the one day the two of them were there did make me sigh. The coincidence really felt forced.

The more I read, the more I had to stop thinking. The overarching plot felt off. Like they threw in a big villain with a cringe name and abilities that honestly didn't make sense with the setting.

ML's personality felt like it went through some weird changes, too. He trusted MC way too fast, and he started to genuinely romantically like MC too quickly as well, though I guess that occurs often in danmei novels.

And regarding the TL quality-- it's alright, but there is indeed several problems. Mainly some inconsistences. First off, ML is a panther, not a leopard. The TL calls him the latter at first before switching over to the former after his appearance is described. Then it continuously switches between the two each chapter.

The names of different characters, including the MC, also frequently change, as do different words. It's mainly a consistency thing. Sometimes they're in pinyin, sometimes the TLer uses the English words. It's not a big deal though, just a bit annoying.

I stopped reading at chapter 51. I'll probably finish reading when it's all been TLed. Usually I'd just MTL, but this novel didn't really feel worth the extra effort.

This is the type of novel that you go in with no brains and logic in mind. It's wholesome, cute and fluffy. But MC has so much plot armour and protection from his surroundings that it's basically smooth sailing for him from beginning to end.

For context, MC is from an apocalyptic world, where he had been tested on and held against his will. When he dies, his soul gets transported into a human shell of a body, where an elf holds him captive to take care of him and raise him. Because of this, he enters an interstellar galactic world, a world where everything is completely different from what he learnt last time back on Earth. Humans and animals evolved, so much to the point where Humans are going extinct, and Animals have evolved to being able to shapeshift, walk on 2 legs, speak great English, and essentially do things humans could do. Because of this, animals have been taught to raise and take care of humans as we humans cared for them in the past. MC, being human gets basically a free halo/cheat because of his race.

Of course, this isn't a bad thing. The book was meant to be a slice of life, with bits and pieces of plot here and there to make it progress. It's why I'm giving 4 stars still. It served its purpose.

Here comes the reason why I can't give it 5 stars; the MC acts so new to the world that it almost feels like the author is infantilizing him. Its like the newborn trope; where MC enters and experiences a whole new different world compared to his old one, and because of this he holds the innocent and naivety that fuels the need of others wanting to protect him. He is milky, short, small, cute, innocent, thin, sweet and kind (which almost creepily has all the main characteristics of a child) and because of this he can do no wrong. Don't get me wrong, I love wholesome cute characters, and he is! But sometimes he feels so 2 dimensional, like he is just there to teach the ML, who is now chief of the military of the interstellar galactic force, basically overpowered, how to relax and be sweet to others other than him even though he is the main character. It just feels weird that even though he came from an apocalyptic world (spiritually) and has knowledge of said world, he doesn't question this new world and just goes along with everything, having full trust in anyone he meets because he is just so naive. It doesn't help that he is 18 years old (physically) and the ML is 36. We don't know his age from the past at all, so we don't know how or when he died.

With that said, the dynamic between MC and ML is cute. It starts from suspicions, misunderstandings and pretending to a great relationship where communication happens, thus almost no conflict. It's basically mindless fluff, and if you want to turn off your brain, this is the book for you. 4 stars for a book like this is deserved. <<less
