Description
Links are NOT allowed. Format your description nicely so people can easily read them. Please use proper spacing and paragraphs.Chen Wan was very adept at dealing with people. Relying on his thoughtfulness and meticulousness to be reliable, he mixed with the group of princelings. As long as he was there, even the humidity of the air would feel just right.
He didn’t go through all this trouble in hopes that Zhao Shengge would like him. Chen Wan never left his name nor sought credit, keeping to the shadows. Zhao Shengge did not even have to know that he existed; glimpsing him from afar just once or twice was enough.
His friend, impatient at his low expectations, asked, “What are you playing at?”
“I’m not playing at anything,” Chen Wan smiled, holding on to his unbreakable oath of secret devotion. “I just hope that my presence would make him a little happier and more comfortable.”
Zhao Shengge was the favored child of the heavens, holding a high position and wielding immense power. Chen Wan was very self aware. He wouldn’t hold any hopes about something that was simply impossible, believing that his careful distance was maintained flawlessly.
When their paths crossed at the auction, Chen Wan would blend into the crowd, offering only the same greetings as strangers;
When he came across Zhao Shengge’s belongings, he would ask his friend to pass them on;
When someone tried using him to get close to Zhao Shengge through him, he’d apologize and say that they don’t actually know each other……
Or at least that’s what he believed.
Until that moment on the cruise ship, when the other person stared at him quietly, cigarette between his lips as he slowly said: “Chen Wan, I didn’t bring a lighter.”
On the surface, it’s the shou chasing the gong, but it’s actually the gong calmly orchestrating the chase, maneuvering the shou towards him.
A story of two adults going back and forth, testing the waters, with deep feelings running beneath.
