Honestly a refreshing and well-written novel, perfect for readers fed up with the cliche reincarnation plot. It is a bit iffy in some areas like the original character's motives and character since the novel continuously tries to establish the fact that although she was mistreated due to the male villains in the academy (Elden included) it seems to say she doesn't mind it much and only wanted revenge to teach them a lesson. (She wouldn't have gone out of her way for revenge or even told her father about it... more>> who is a Grand Duke and could easily eliminate their entire noble families.)

Then again, it also helps to build a bit of suspense and give Elden the notion that he'll be fine as long as he stays away from her (successfully withdraws). The only real complaint I have is with the 2Dness of the villains other than Elden, but than again I have only read less than 20 chapters. <<less

I can only say one thing even though there are not many chapters yet: peak. Ignore the criticisms of people who didn't make it past 20 chapters and just read. The way the characters' emotions are described and developed is beautiful to read. Read it, seriously. Peak.

What this has achieved in merely 2 chapters is what the average novel hopes to achieve in its first 10 chapters. The hook on this novel is spectacular. With only 1 chapter it made me interested in the MC and what he is going to do in the future and the overall world aswell. I feel like this novel has a lot to offer, so I am anticipant about it.

This novel makes no sense. The MC is in this competition for the betrothal but he doesn't want o be in it because he knows the truth behind it. He even explained why he didn't want to be in it that he didn't want to use his knowledge of the book to somehow "win". Yet after he declares his withdrawal, he doesn't just get up and leave? He still continues? Why? The author makes no attempt at an explanation. The competition is voluntary, why would you need permission to withdraw?... more>> And even if you are waiting for permission, why participate? Make up an excuse and stay put.

You can make the argument that his host is a higher ranking noble so if he suddenly up and leaves, he would be offending them? But that's not how feudalism works. High ranking nobles doesn't have that much sway over lower ranking ones, especially if the lesser noble isn't a direct vassal. And if feudalism works different in this novel, it's on the author to explain it.

If you stick past the first plot event (s) it's pretty good, but the novel somewhat suffers from two dimensional antagonists. I also wish this wasn't a purely romance setting based story as it could've been expanded upon and been a better novel like "tr*sh Of The Counts Family". With its current pace, it seems it will fall off after the first arc is completed. The character interactions so far have been great, other than the antagonist trio, who again, are 2d and only there to force the plot and fill up word count. My favorite character is by far the butler. I only wish his name was also the legendary Sebastián...

I do wish to note, although it is a fun interesting read, you do have to give a white eye towards some premise plotholes.

For one, why doesn't the MC simply leave after declaring the withdrawal? Another reviewie LoneDK argued that the MC being a lower position noble than the latter, doesn't wish to offend them. And stated that this is simply not how feudalism works. However... they misleading didn't mention how he is from a ruined nobles house, and the latter's rank is right under the king. His review was a 1 star... so unsurprising its filled with stubborn bias tbh. But nevertheless, it is still a plothole u need to side eye to enjoy the story.

For my take, I'd argue the MC is simply being cautious, and freeloading as he gets a bit stronger. He just got transported to another world, why try to unnecessarily make more enemies? It's not like he has a safe place to get back to anyways, his house was ruined, which is why the original scoundrel signed up to be the duchess bride. Though we all know it's just meaningless plot armor

Yet as I state earlier, I sincerely hope this moves past the romance trope and enters into TCF grade story material after the first arc. But I doubt this happening more now, after a new FL romance character seems to be introduced... At least it's not self imploding harem, or not yet at least.

There have yet to be any mentions of powerful characters / terrorist antagonist events to be wary of yet within the 17 chaps read, other than the main FL which I wouldn't really consider to be the main villain... and the MC's guard Rachel. So future ark potential looks bleak

It's sort of early to judge this story but the writing and translation seem well done and more importantly it feels like it's going in a very different direction than your typical reincarnated as a minor villain story. Again it's too early to say this will be an amazing story but I can't help but feel optimistic

Still no hook till free chap, there are no urgency for MC, maybe he will die for 5 days if he didnt withdraw, I think its imposible that the duke daughter will kill 4 noble openly, I still dont know what MC wanted to do from now on, doing a carefree life, or hunting delicacy food in other world, or making money since the is a wealthy tag. I didnt see any drama, I didnt see any comedy, at least that made me laugh, I smell a bit romance from the duke daughter, maybe wait until 50-100 until you can see some romance. The premise was oversaturated, bit boring, a good man trnasmigated as scum, there are many similar novel with transmigated tag. May be I judge too early but, The only good thing for now (chap 17) is only the translation. <<less
