Wen QingLing, as a wood and psychic type ability user, was sabotaged by his cousin at a critical moment and was pushed out to block zombies. He was bitten and his teammates fled.

He decided to find an auspicious place to die.

But while he didn’t die, the zombies around him did.

Wen QingLing, “???”

Yes, Wen QingLing became a zombie, but he mutated.

He breathed, had a heartbeat, and had consciousness, there was practically no difference between him and humans.

He had authority over zombies, his wounds healed themselves, and where his blood was spilled, life was restored.

Wen QingLing returned home to help his zombie parents regain their consciousness and restored their decomposing bodies back to their original appearance.

They opened a clinic in the City of Zombies, and would only treat zombies or infected people. All it cost was nuclei.

News that living people lived in the City of Zombies spread like wildfire.

Someone said, “There is a clinic that only treats zombies.”

Another person said, “There is a doctor that can heal the infected.”

There was another who said, “The living people there are all those who were saved after becoming zombies.”

The survivors went crazy, they all went looking for their zombified relatives in hopes of a miracle.

Not entirely human nor a zombie MC with unstable blood that is prone to mutation, as a result of that he ended up creating a bunch of other species unintentionally.

The story had a great setting. It was so good & funny at the beginning, but it was too rushed at the end with the foreigners, the zombie king in the north, the humans in the big city, and don't get me started with Ml's mutation.

Hmmm I enjoyed the novel. Thank you translator-nim.

I really like the MC's character. First if all in the first chapter MC is already a zombie, thar was betrayed by his cousin and a friend, for me it seems like before he died in his heart remains this emotion of being betrayed. That's the reason that he lost trust in humanity. But he's not entirely heartless, he still gives choices. And he always have this ultimatum that if you offend him, he will retaliate but if not there will be peace.... more>> So for the first reviews I do not entirely agree that he is heartless and at least he is more humane than real humans. There is a line there that Humans are always greedy and this shows in apocalypse or anywhere even in our times. So the civilisation that MC build is actually good even though he have a connection to everywhere converted zombies because of his blood.

As for the babies, I would say the 3rd one is his real one since it was cultivated from MC's heart and ML's blood. As for the 1st and 2nd they were born out of sucking toxic from different infected people so you can't blame MC that he really didn't treat them like his babies, I understand that this babies were from his blood, but they were born in different way unlike the last baby.

I would say MC is very realistic. Though indeed I was really disappointed with him when he conveted the ML and removed ML's humanity. MC was worried ML would die because he pick the humans that are greedy. MC was alittle bit selfish on this part. But ehem after the ML became a zombie they made love ehem MC is a shou and ML is a gong. I was always wondering about this the whole story but if you analyze it. MC is young. MC is like 18-19 when the apocalypse begun. Then 2 yrs forward is the setting of the story. So he was like 21 when he became a zombie he's young. As for the ML he's already a soldier so he's older than MC.

MC is really OP, but I like the development of his power also the ML's power.

The ending feels like it was ended abruptly. Like he just let go the other 'potential zombie king' and let go his other baby anemone.

MC also have a thinking that he trusted zombies more than humans, because he is also a zombie. <<less

I thought the story was about a zombie doctor who treats zombies... Like the name of the story suggests. I was wrong.

It's not my kind of story.

Spoiler

But he finds his parents who own a doctor's office and there's the name...

The whole story feels like MC had no motivation.

He doesn't want power, a zombie horde, to save the humans, to research his blood, to farm, the ML, zombie nuclei, he doesn't even want to sit back and relax.

Most of the time his mom is the driving force.

She treats the patients, helps ML in his love life, takes care of the plants and organized the livestock. Without her ML wouldn't have build the city.

Until now he always just shows up, saves the day and vanishs again. Everybody else has to deal with the consequences, which are sometimes good and some times bad.

Well I have complicated feelings for this story.

As we can see, there are a lot of bad comments about MC character... and different from the others, I honestly can understand why MC has such a bad character in the story.

There is a lot of comment only saying he is a bad person, but none of them are tried to see things from MC point of view.

Spoiler

The fact that MC is no longer a Human but a zombie that just having a bit of feelings + humans targeting him, is enough as an answer why MC have a bad traits.

[collapse]

Rather than the characters, I actually feel that the lack of this story lies in the rushed plot.

This can be seen at the beginning of the story which still has a solid plot, but after entering chapters 80-100 there are a lots of new plots begin to appear, which are finally resolved in a hurry.

For me, I feel this story could be up to 300-400 chapters if the author really develops the story seriously rather than finishing the plot in a hurry. <<less

There's nothing wrong with this novel. The translation is very good, packed with action, a little bit of chinese drama and im emphasizing on "A LITTLE BIT". Too much face slapping, dog blood, white lotus antagonist is annoying. And yes maybe not that memorable or award winning title, but it's really ok.

Not offensive or stagnant water, a decent pick. 4 or 5 stars <3

PS: Oh ive forgotten about the "shounen ai" tag. Ive read hundreds of them, so I dont really need to read another one. Until ch 32, I... more>> havent seen the romance plot, which is not a bad thing to me tbh. Breath of fresh air. Nowadays I more often find novel and manga without romance tag, but actually have harems and have the plot to either collect them all, or helping them to do things. <<less

Just from reading the synopsis I thought this story would be a good fit for me- sadly I was mistaken. I was expecting something more slice of life, with the MC running a clinic in the zombie apocalypse to eventually helping out everyone with his abilities but this isn't like that. The MC is much more indifferent, temperamental and powerful than I anticipated.. Although I liked his beginning actions they start to get more questionable and questionable as the story progressed. At this point I'm not that interested in what... more>> story is about to be told. I'm also put off by what I've seen of the CP so far, , I don't mind an enemies to lovers but I don't see a way they can be in a relationship healthily and based off spoilers I've seen I was correct about that. I'm going to have to drop it, but it might be a story that you enjoy so give it a shot if really interested. <<less

I generally like when the protagonist is cold, pragmatic and op. Wen Qingling fits those attributes.

However, his opness is limited by his age, life experience and the resulting degree of maturity. So he may be overpowered in combat, but needs help with the management of his city as he lacks managerial experience.

Wen Qingling is likeable overall, but can also be infuriating at times. He doesn't like to admit when he is wrong or when he doesn't know something which can be seen as tsundere, I guess. What bothers me... more>> is his attitude towards other people, especially the ML. Wen Qingling is arrogant and controlling af. When things don't go his way, he likes to resort to violence/force or threats. On top of that, his arrogance often leads to him not taking anyone else seriously. This then leads to the antagonists escaping time and time again only for them to come back and make trouble. In this case, you could also call him neglectful as he doesn't consider the consequences of his actions or lack of action. But he doesn't seem to care either way. He is just a my-pace kinda guy with a my way or the high attitude. Anyone who disagrees will end up regretting it.

As for the ML... He is okay, a soldier so very responsible and loyal. As for when and how he fell for the MC, I still have no idea. Either way later on in the story, his responsibility poses a point of contention as he stands between humans and zombies. Boy has it hard. But the MC ends up deciding for him which I don't really agree with. Their relationship is kinda toxic, to be honest. But they do end up happy in the end.

Apropos the end, the end felt a bit anticlimactic.
Spoiler

The author built up so much tension between the MC and the other potential zombie king, adding the teenage blood baby as a point of conflict. And then... And then nothing really happened aside from the MC practically marrying off his child.

[collapse]

There were a few inconsistencies. But I only remember one right off the bat.
Spoiler

Like when the ML's father and uncle/former superior were surprised when they came to the civilization city and the MC's mom mentioned the ML and MC being in a relationship. I can clearly remember the ML having already told them back in the capital base that Wen Qingling is his wife.

[collapse]

All those flaws and quirks aside, I did end up enjoying the read overall and did not need to take a break in-between like I do with many other novels. So that's a plus. <<less

This is too cuteeee! The romance is slow but ML feel inlive first while MC thinks that ML is his 🤣 also kiiiiiids!!! They are from MCs blood seed and the last one were MC and MLs combination blood seed!!

When I first read about the MCs family I have a hunch that MC is chaotic 🤣 especially when the author introduced MCs best friend! I love how they get along because that is how my best friend and I gets along 🤣

I thought ML would be the stoic and cold... more>> blooded type. I thought they would be two ice cubes romance but ML is a sweet heart he loves the MC!

An Interesting takes on Zombie-genre. I was surprised reading this. The plot is alright, though I think author-nim portray MC a bit inconsistent. And I wonder how ML really fell in love with MC. Overall, I think this book is good. 4.4/5 stars

I like MC character. He is really portraying how zombie king should be. He is realistic and relatable. How he is interact with other zombie is how I imagine a zombie king and it's subordinate race. The type of race with strict hierarchy.

What I don't like is ML character. I feel like he doesn't deserve MC.

Spoiler

Their difference in race, point of view, and prinsip kinda make me mad. I hate that ML almost always prioritizing human over MC. He doesn't hesitate to hurt and sacrifice himself as long as majority human save. I only like him when he is truly become a zombie and behave like a proper sub king.

[collapse]

I also don't like the villains and how the protagonist solve them.

Spoiler

Especially the surname Xu. If MC kill her from the start, bcs of her betrayal killing MC, MC will have less problem in the future. And this also happen to other villains. The villain is coming back over and over again with improved strength. Somehow it feels dragging and redundant to me.

[collapse]

I like MC family and mi yan (?). Their interaction is funny. <<less

This is exactly my cup of tea

What I like the most about it is the worldbuilding. Everything is so nuanced. Different mutations of zombie virus, different effects of the potions/medicine, the intricate politics that affects allyship. I love those little details that makes the world so vivid and real to me.

I love the MC. He’s impulsive and quick to result to violence but he’s not unreasonable. He’s not a paragon of morality or anything but he’s kind in his own way. It’s so easy to relate to his frustration because... more>> he just wants to live a simple life but because he and his loved ones are in-between creatures, a normal uninterrupted life. He’s very calculating. Although he doesn’t know much about management, he can think of plans ahead of time and potential problems. But I wish there was more foreshadow beforehand of how clever he is. Like maybe mention he’s the top of his class or he’s always planning ahead before the apocalypse. I just feel like his cleverness came out of nowhere.

Romance is very minimal but still sweet. Those looking for gratuitous romance will not find it here. It’s a very small subplot and a bit slowburn.

There’s a bit of racism (maybe) when writing Westerners but just the normal amount for a CN 😂

The plot is more focused on worldbuilding, action, and subtly asking/answering the question, “What makes us human? What makes us different from one another?”

The ending might be anticlimactic for some but I kinda expected it. I think the conflict at the end should have extended more to convince the audience.

All in all, recommending it for people who loves worldbuilding with exciting details and basically adventuring in an apocalyptic world. <<less

Great story! Not as lighthearted as the description/summary at NU, but has comedic plots. Although a bit dark with MC "losing" emotions, it is understandable and rational if you become a zombie.

It just feels kind of meandering and hard to follow. Had to reread some chapters a few times cause some character was mentiomed and I could not remember if they were new or important.

Was not too bad of a premise or execution even from where I was at, just bogged down by a more unfocused writing style than what the content needed.

This novel is now one of my favorites! I love this story. And you will not be boring on each chapter because each chapter has something going on and have a touch of comedy which is good actually.

This story is kinda enemies turn to lovers trope but not entirely because at First two main character are at odds because the MC are emotionless zombie and the ML is a good soldier who always obeying the orders from the higher ups but then slowly the two of them became closer and... more>> then they became lovers. Actually the romance is in middle to last parts but you will still feel it.

I'm just disappointed on the ending. I feel that the ending is rushed and abrupt.

But overall, it's good.

I suggest you guys to read this if you want to have a bl romance, have a touch of comedy, have an op MC, much more powerful than the ML which is also what made me love this story (because we always see on the other Story that the ML are more powerful than the mc), and in the apocalypse. They also have a children at the end but this is not omegaverse. Just read the story and you will know how they have a children. <<less

Sigh. It's good for a whole day of reading.

This kind of novel would have been perfect if it was stretched to 500+ chapters, but oh well.

Anyways, it's good for lightread and the leveling up is not frustrating but is easy to the eyes. (I love very OP MCs)

Go read it if you like zombie apocalypse + superpowers + city building + YAOI.

I love it. I love apocalypse BL, I was surprised when 2 translators dropped it because of its genre but I'm so glad it was still picked up and now it's completed. I love it so much! It's been a while that I've read a BL novel that's really my taste.

I love Wen Qingling, tho to be fair, he was really quite emotionless but he was still cutee. I like how his character is consistent with his identity. I love his OPness, lol with his first thought of being a... more>> salty fish. I just love him.

Xiao Hen, as an ML he actually had more character changes/development that WQL. He is also very real and relatable. It's quite nice to read about his changes and I'm glad he's still happy in the end, and I'm also very glad he like WQL!

Other characters are also really good, like they are all relevant. Tho the discussion of places were really confusing and probably not that needed lol.

I loveee this story. I believe the ending was quite good. It's not the expected ending from all the foreshadowing on Yunjing city but I think that's what makes it good.

Reread? If I forget about ittt, I liked it very much!
Def recommended although this is pretty action packed, but the romance is not THAT romantic but it IS there. <<less

There's a comedy tag missing from tags, I am sure as hell laughed many times on the things that was said.

I couldn't take things seriously because it was funny how everything seems so comical, MC is too op so when villains tried it was instant face slaps that left people gaping their mouths.

I have no problem with MC and ML's romance, it was natural as it can get given the circumstances.

The unique trait of being able to turn Zombies back to *humans was fascinating, I always like when people got... more>> back to with their relatives when they lost all hopes.

I gave this a 4 star rating after MTL-ing the whole thing.

The plot is very interesting and overall cute. The author tries to incorporate comedic relief when they can (I mean, it is the zombie apocalypse). Little to no angst, no graphic descriptions of gore (just brief summaries of how someone got hurt or dies), and the romance was well-paced.

Deducted a star because a lot of times it feels like the plot was being fast-forwarded. Not rushed but more like an interlude that you watched at 1.5x speed. This only... more>> really happens in the more domestic or world-building parts so it doesn't affect the overall story too much. <<less
