Foxaholic translation- so very good quality. The story is short and sweet. Ye Shen (ML) moved fast once he realizes that he liked her. Only the secret behind his birth is dragged on until the end.

Overall good story!

A happy-go-lucky story that is quite predictable. The hints were more than enough to guess the plot. However, the interactions between the main leads were exceedingly sweet and cute; and made me happy. 💜💜💜 I liked the face-slapping, though it was minimal, I liked fMC's personality of not caring but living her life well. The mFC was really funny in his thought processes.

Is a decent short story with all the good stuff from this genre. There was no main villain to speak of because they were all mediocre however in tandem all the antagonists did somewhat help with the growth of the main couple.

The romance is the main plot, so all the book is about it, and the author was really mindful of that. The romance was sweet and it has logic, it wasn't forced nor one-sidedly intense, there was obvious development on both the ML and FL towards each... more>> other.

The maid and the guard are the best and I would have liked to know more about them at the end, but I like the ambiguousness of their relationship.

It was short, concise, sweet, dramatic enough to be entertaining but not tiring. The romance was great. <<less

This story is definitely not uncommon but unexpectedly the characters in it felt real, like they are truly made of flesh and blood with alot of emotions and their actions that are dictated by these emotions and their circumstances unlike some other novels which storylines can be quite unique but the characters lacks the feeling of being real and it made it hard to connect such characters with thr stories itself...

A sweet story, not long, but it could have been even shorter and it wouldn't have made it any worse. No rebirths. No hits. Just people of their era and time, brought together by fate. Some moments are superfluous, some are not disclosed, but for a couple of pleasant evenings - a great story. The only thing that saddens me in stories of this kind is that the main female role successfully finds a man who shares a monogamous relationship with her. That was rare for the nobles and caused... more>> a certain condemnation, because it was considered important to have many children. Alas, these moments of reality are omitted for the sake of modern mores. <<less

I'm giving it five stars because I enjoyed the journey even if I ended up a little bored in the end (the reason I'm dropping it at chapter 60). The last 5 or so chapters have taken on the feeling of a long winded summary with the occasional dialogue thrown in and it's just a little hard to keep up interest. Most of the face-slapping/revenge seems to have happened at this point as well.

I'm just really glad this didn't end up being one of those stories where the ML betrays... more>> the MC or her family for personal gain (I was worried for a moment and had to check the tags on novelupdates). There is no betrayal here, folks! <<less

Why are so many writing in the reviews about MC being neither Transmigrated nor Reincarnated or whatever as if that was a negative point?

Tbh I sometimes feel the whole Transmigration or Reincarnation stuff is kind of gimmicky at this point and while I still give give Transmigration or Reincarnation novels full 5 stars if I really like them (hence I don't really count it as a negative) I have to admit after reading dozens of novels that use this trope, I kind of respect novels that don't use it and... more>> just tell the story of an "ordinary" MC that was born "in the correct place and timeline" a bit more. <<less

Reread the raws because I can't remember the story at all aside from the FL was abandoned on her wedding day and she'll get together with the ML later. I still love the relationship between the ML/MC, especially as they came to love each other - he's very sweet to her and I love how neither of them drag things out unnecessarily. The beginning felt a bit forced by the author though - in fact, a lot of the story feels forced by the author. He just happens to be... more>> attracted to her? What kind of mother just tells her daughter "don't go through with this wedding" and doesn't bother to at least tell said daughter that there is a bad relationship between the elders in the family? I now know why I gave the story 3/5 stars originally - the plot buildup and flow doesn't make sense. Great start and pretty funny characters (I love the maid Yuan Guo, lol), but then the plot sunk into the ground towards the end. Original Review: The story isn't bad, but I guess I prefer a more playful/comedic writing style. I think I was driven to finish reading to find out the last secret/mystery, but it wasn't very satisfying because there was very little build up to it storywise or character-wise.

The romance is sweet, and the main couple go well together. I would have liked more fleshed out side characters though. <<less

If you like true love at second glance, you'll enjoy this short story, with twists and turns, fluff and a bit of face slaping.

It's just short enough so it doesnt get boring and it has some tea about ML's history that's a bit uncommon.

It's not bad for historical.

I think one big issue is I keep forgetting how most mediocre-writers of historical tend to villainize all the women in them as if it was one gigantic harem intrigue battle. The way every woman of the MC's age behaves in this novel is just ridiculously one-dimensional... Literally EVERYONE is out to get her, not a single positive relationship or friend or person in the same age-group who isn't insane (except the MC's own servant)

EVERY ONE OF HER COUSINS who she's NEVER EVEN MET??? SUDDENLY have a bad impression of her from literally having never met her and snipe at her at like literally the FIRST DINNER/BANQUET she's ever even met them at, and then proceed to scheme against her with literally NO BENEFIT?? makes no sense

not to mention her aunt is a huge like villain who like ? for some reason? hires ppl to kill her for her dowry? after her husband personally promised to send her away WITH THEIR OWN PEOPLE? while also saying that her dowry must be really small / cheap / poor cause they dont have a lot of money???

like bruh, there's even that popular chinese saying "kill with a borrowed knife" why would you implicate yourself / your family when literally everyone and their dog knows that those servants belonged to your family?

AND WHAT IS THE POINT of doing these things for a supposedly negligible dowry literally not even worth it???

Answer: There is no point, just author's inability to create believable plotlines and reasoning that doesn't involve drinking koolaid and turning off your brain.

First of all I would like to say two things in advance:

  • 1. I thank the scan very much for taking the effort to translate it and bring this novel.
  • 2. This is my first time writing a review. I am not an English speaker originally, so I apologize if something is not understood.
Now to the main point, I'll honestly go with this.

First of all, I really liked this short read, but since I started reading it I can understand the opinions of others, I can't tell if it's... more>> badly written or what, because there are so many gaps that everything is so messy that I don't even know why. Where to start, not to mention that the only notable thing is the slaps (I won't deny it, they were satisfactory), the incredible misunderstanding between ML and FL, and lastly the "tangled/mysterious" background of YS.

Before reading this novel at first I couldn't understand the comments here, after reading it I could understand. The novel is very good, but my reason for giving it 3 stars was precisely that, this novel is so messy not to mention the abrupt ending that left me feeling bewildered and empty.

The only cons of this novel are that, as for the rest, it's a nice read if you like poetic slap justice here, can't disagree with some in saying, FL is not smart, but not dumb either, brave and reckless is perhaps the best way to describe it, if it wasn't for the ML from start to finish I wouldn't be able to do anything.
