When the last prodigy level esper on Earth disappeared, Earth was in deep trouble of becoming another species’ colony. The ordinary Han, with his intelligence and hardworking character, was able to make a fortune after “accidentally” stepping into the world of dark net, later purchasing an esper power crystal that brought him the ultimate power that changed the fate of the universe.

Dark net is a subset of the Deep Web that is not only not indexed by traditional search engines, but that also requires special tools like specific proxy or authentication to gain access. Dark net is not restricted by any law or morals, so the dark net market has everything that is prohibited by the law. Drugs, s*aves, firearms, uranium, bioweapons, rare animals, human testing, assassination, and the list goes on. During the year of 2075 on Earth, Han Lang logged into the largest hyperspace dark net market, and our story begins.

The story was good in the beginning, but the author gave up and never really ended his story, the ending left with so many unanswered questions and plot holes.
Spoiler

we still don't know what Ye Weiwei wanted to tell him and it will forever remain a mystery

[collapse]
The author basically says to imagine the ending yourself because he is too lazy to finish it himself. I will never recommend this light novel to anyone, just because of how big of a disappointment the ending was.

I'm giving this story a 2 star, more then a 1 star because the story up to a point captured attention and some characters got you invested, but not more due to the ending being unsatisfying to the max.

As the story comes to an end no loose ends are tied the antagonist is not defeated and the damn author end the story with an ambiguous "It doesn't matter if Han succeeds or fails because in the end he brought the people of the galaxy together" the author filled a balloon... more>> with hot air and tied it off, promising the readers an explosive ending but in the end he untied the knot at the bottom of the balloon and deflated it gently, and with it our hopes dissipated.

I recommend not reading this story for the sole fact that the author didn't respect the story enough to finish it. <<less

Really interesting novel. I can honestly say that this story is very united and very much a ‘Hero’s tale’ its a bunch of goody two shoes that don’t mind getting their hands dirty. Its a good step back from the usual Xianxia and Xuanhaun that is all hack and slash with no substance.

I’ve currently read up to 49 chapters and eagerly waiting for chapter 50!

The story building is nice, not fast not slow. The action comes fairly early but not to often. The romance? Yes it actually shows glimpses of... more>> romance in the first dozen chapters and is quite nicely done! It doesn’t just start with a woman falling for the MC for no damn reason swooning over him in an instance, it gives a plausible reason for her coming affections and why she’s possibly attracted to the MC; it really makes you want to see if the relationship develops. I’m hoping they at least become friends I know they’ll be close in some way.

The MC power? Very unique not forced and not just a random power up that’s SO OP its disastrous. Though you can see how he’ll get it a mile coming the journey is worth it. The determination and the perseverance is admirable. Though a negative for me was that the MC suddenly developed something contradictory to his original position forming a Spiderman mentality from an Uncle Ben saying. Its not overly forced and IMO something you can overlook.

I like it when the MC goes through hard times and pisses off a lot of other espers! Though that last one might be inherent

Spoiler

not just cause he’s an MC in a CN novel but the nature of his ability as well

[collapse]

There are a few loose ends early on that don't have any answers and where (seemingly) totally worthless and or just an excuse to allow for the story to develop on a certain path. Though I don't mind, I certainly hope this doesn't become a trend. <<less

The translation's quality is 5/5. But the story is 5 only in the first arc, when the MC is still in Our Galaxy. Once he goes out, it deteriorates.. Fast.. To 4.. Then 1 in the final scene/arc.

This story is sci-fi.. BUT.. The lousiest science I ever read. IF the author went on xianxia, it woudn't be that bad. Any one who read this novel should throw away every science knowledges one knows or has learnt. Worse science explaination ever seen. Science is the base of sci-fi as cultivation is to xianxia. You can't have good sci-fi with lousy & rotten sciences. For example, the PLANET is not the courtyard. You could jump billion light years but have to knock the planet's door to enter it!

Each planet in this novel has only one function confined in one small area which is smaller than a province : the arena for MC's showoff or storage house. As science becomes worse and worse, the story line & plot deteriorates too. So bad that the author decided to terminate the story at 500+ chapters, instead of 1000++ as other Chinese novels. Too pessimistic review. But can't go another way. Romantic does not exist. Writer tried to create it and fail fatally. Females just exist. No role at all. Can be written off with... more>> no affect to the story at all.

Battle and fighting are : you hit me, I hit you back, you hit me again, I hit you back and kill you. No strategy, no plan, no tactic. Only bigger fist and tougher plot shield. Sigh. Enjoy the first 1/3 and prepare to be sorry later.

Try to be science fiction & fail. Try to be xianxia & fail.

Try to be harem and fatally fail.

Try to be post apocalypse and fail.

Try to be continued, totally fail too. <<less

The author himself admitted that he is too cowardly to finish his story.

The build-up to the ending was just so much that not even giving a climax is too awful to bear that I deducted 2 stars.

This made me really angry.

I really enjoyed it for entertainment purposes but eventually I got tired of the bad editing/translations and the author.

The author is a good bullshitter. He managed to fool me in the beginning but I caught on eventually. This is like the Japanese series Magi combined with Stellar Transformations and every generic cultivation novel out there. The author has no idea what he's writing about, never going into detail about anything. Author has no clue about martial arts or about "sci-fi" or anything else for that matter. Every detail is generic... more>> and sometimes cringe to read.
Spoiler

So the MC starts out as a relatively average and normal person, but suddenly becomes:
1) master tactician
2) master fighter
3) master alchemist
4) master engineer
5) master creature creator?

Even though we are in a futuristic setting, it still feels like modern day or earlier.
Even though we are spread out across the Milky Way and other galaxies, it feels smaller than the Earth.

The whole novel is plot armor galore.

This is a decent enough novel to pass time with but you have to skip the repeated tidbits of information telling you how great MC is, how strong the monsters are, how hard the current situation is, etc. LOTS of repeated useless info dumps that are used to balloon the word count. <<less

Disclaimer: I read the Chinese raws and haven't read the translations.

This novel is basically a Chinese sci-fi novel in a futuristic space setting where Earth has unified itself as an alliance of countries though internally, the countries seem to be considered semi-autonomous subdivisions of the Earth alliance. The international union is explained as necessary as Earth is considered a tiny galactic state that just barely passed the requirements needed to get and retain membership as a sovereign planet in the Milky Way alliance. So immediately, I liked the setup since... more>> I am a sucker for stories where Earth/humans as underdogs pitted against aliens looking down on them. It was also a plus because it wasn't as depressing and defeatist in attitude as I assumed it would be and why I tend to avoid post-apocalyptic novels. Yes, Earth and Earth humans are really weak in comparison to everyone else as they keep getting their asses kicked but they're scrappy, dammit!

Anyway, the MC is rather relatable because he's a normal student who doesn't have superpowers in this new paradigm which means he has to worry about employment and being bottom of the pyramid. His poverty also means that he is used to being a homebody and doesn't really have any expensive tastes so he lives as someone who's rather aware of his own limits. There is one leap of faith required of the readers right off the bat though and that's that the MC's gift from his mother that he promised he would only open on his 16th birthday gives him the credentials needed to join the galactic dark net that's then described as one of the most mysterious, rare, and powerful places someone can get the privilege of entering. At this point, something of how Earth is considered bottom of the galactic rung and how Earth humans are also considered pathetic has already been made so it's a bit strange to see the MC's mom having access to something as advanced as the dark net without going into how strange and conspiracy theory it is. The MC had maybe a moment of thought on it but then quickly forgot about it, which is strange because you would think the MC should be curious as to how powerful his mom must be. But this is an ongoing story so the author will probably return to this question of the MC's mom later. Hopefully...

In terms of the general impression, I liked how the story does the scrappy underdog tone for Earth humans and the MC and goes with it. The MC has to work hard to get his superpower and though he does luck out in that he gains an uber power, the author does take care to outline the possible disadvantages and costs of his power since he essentially had to find an illegal loophole to even get it. Also, despite how things can look bad, the optimism the MC and others have makes this story an enjoyable read. The MC is also convincingly practical and selfish when he needs to be but also can be idealistic and altruistic, which I find in line with his young age as well as logical due to the way that he grew up.

For those who are looking for as*hole MCs who don't give a f*ck about anyone else and/or hate it when MCs they're looking to vicariously live through act like they actually have morals or values, this probably isn't the story for you. Because the novel is about a dark net where illegal stuff happens, it means legality as well as the morals and ethics involved WILL need to be examined from a worldbuilding point of view. You can't really define something as a negative without defining what the positive is. So for those of you who'd rather find excuses for ignoring reality, sorry but no, you don't get to r*pe, kill, and act like a s*upid f*ck without repercussions or at the very least, called out on it. For people looking to turn their brains off and a guilt-free reading experience of being a**holes, this isn't for you. This goes double for people who are disgusted with do-gooders looking to help the human race survive because it's the f*cking right thing to do instead of doing what as*hole OP MCs would ordinarily do, which is to let Earth get screwed over because there's nothing in it for them.

The MC is pretty hard working though he is also lucky so that combo makes it rather believable how powerful he gets, especially if you consider the dark net as the equivalent of a cheat where taboos and illegal stuff can be gotten. Though that luck can sometimes seem over the top but since most MCs are lucky to an extent, I could shrug it off. What's interesting is that there's some supporting characters and cast that's built up that actually have personalities so the interplay between them and the MC's conflict of having self-imposed responsibilities such as fighting to help Earth stay free and sovereign as well as his own personal need to get stronger is interesting. Basically, I liked the MC and other characters a lot because I tend to enjoy MCs who would actually be a loss to the universe, world, realm if they died and would actually be mourned. I tend to not enjoy stories where the MC's death would actually be a joy for others and a net plus for the universe because they're such awful human beings even if they're awesome self-insert vehicles for readers looking for a masturbatory fantasy.

Spoiler

He then discovers that the ancient race is coming back set to kill all life in the galaxy because they're egomaniacal a**holes so he's frantic to save everyone. However, the Milky Way alliance government don't believe him because he's the sole survivor of an incident that killed off dozens of battle gods so MC decides to reject them and become an outlaw in truth. Some cool stuff to look forward to is his getting a divine weapon that comes with a star mouse, his growing OPness when it comes to making chimeric animals, his being s**ked into a dark net death game where it turns out that there's a deeper layer to the dark net that allows you to gain more cool things and also where you can meet all aliens from the corners of the galaxy including the 3-eye race. Also cool is since the MC is atheist, when he breaks through and becomes a battle god, he decides that his divine path is to kill all who claim to be divine gods. Some of the revelations about the dark net are also interesting such as it actually being responsible for the 3-eye race's technological advancement because it's been there from the beginning of the universe so theoretically, the Milky Way races can catch up if they get lucky and work hard to dig up its secrets. It turns out the 3-eye race left because they were trying to find the source of the dark net and take it over but failed.

Some stuff that caused me to start losing interest was that more and more female characters that are attracted to the MC get introduced. I'm okay with MC having love interests in general but I invested in the lightning girl and I generally hate harems because they're not done well at all and this will be no exception from what I can tell. A lot of the women started feeling tacked on so I started losing patience. Plus, the suspension of disbelief was getting harder and harder for me as it began to be more and more fantastical rather than hard sci-fi. The dark net is a bit of a leap for me personally since I'm aware of how TOR, VPN, and what the real life darknet entails so it feels like the author overly romanticized that when he wrote about the galactic dark net to begin with so the sci-fi foundation was already a bit shaky for me. Especially since the stuff you discover about the dark net makes it more and more iffy for me since it turns out the dark net functions because there's a reverse universe and that's how the dark net can constantly break rules of physics and time/space, etc. I would be okay with just that but more and more stuff just gets piled on top of another until it gets pretty crazy to the point where rule of cool can no longer power it-- at least for me. At one point, the 3-eye race attacks the solar system and as the humans flee, I KID YOU NOT--the solar system including the sun, moon, and 8 other planets all converge on Earth in a planetary battle formation to defend it. It was f*cking Sailor Moon BS right there except it would be Sailor Earth and no pretty girls but the actual fricking planets moving on their own like they're alive and wrecking sh*t up. I get how cool the image is but that piled on top of all the impossible things was just too much for my logical mind. It just broke the universe for me. Then at one point Pluto does a last stand and dies but the MC's crew save a mysterious dude who answers to Pluto and they don't f*cking question it. Does no one in this universe have a normal sense of curiosity and know how to pursue a proper line of questioning?!?

[collapse]

This story is a nice sci-fi story in its concept and most of its execution. I dropped it though because harem stuff was starting to get in the way and some of the concepts being introduced made the plot jump the shark for me. I couldn't continue reading when my disbelief could no longer be suspended. However, if you are not so nitpicky about technical/scientific details and enjoy harem, that shouldn't be an issue for you. Think of this story as a xianxia/xiuzhen story with a sci-fi skin. Because of the issues, I was conservative in my rating though it could be lower or higher in the future depending on whether or not the author digs himself out of the hole I think he's dug himself in. <<less

This novel consists the most cliches you can find in a story.

Too much "COINCIDENCES"

Spoiler
    • MC thought of an idea to make money (ALL PEOPLE COULD THINK OF IT) but somehow only the MC does it.
    • MC bought a the cheapest crystal (it can give people powers) but wow the crystal gave him an SSS POWER.
    • MC accidentally entered a certain qualification exam but Accidentally become one of the best?
    • Damsel in distress, a waifu saved by the MC. Oh turns out the girl is also an SSS rank. SSS rank should be RARE but oh well maybe just a coincidence?
      [collapse]
The story used the most common and basic story elements and there is just TOO MUCH of coincidences happening to the point that it doesn't feel convincing anymore. :3

There is also a hell lot of loopholes. LACK OF DETAIL! This novel had a very vast concept, the galaxy, so of course it needs a hell lot of explaining but the author didn't bother on the questions the readers had on their heads, author just go to the next scenario without much thought.

Oh wait it also had the thing I hated too. They pull the "Great power comes great responsibility" stunt here, because the MC had an SSS rank power, higher ups from earth push things on him like it's his responsibility and obligation.

Got OP power? But hey he's just a s*ave given with a title of a Hero/Savior something like that. Oh wait the MC doesn't mind he accept it so casually.

I won't tell people not to read this piece of MASTERSHIT, actually I dare you guys read it !! ≫:)

I dropped this after it got snatched up by QI like so many others, and I honestly regret coming back to finish it.

The setting is fun and the characters are interesting, but I would not recommend anyone read past around the 300 chapter mark or so. There is a clear point where you can tell that the author is just steamrolling towards an ending, plot points are introduced and then dropped again at the speed of light, and the railroad tracks are laid out nice and shiny, with the only... more>> important events directly holding the main character hostage to move the plot along. When you reach the end you will realize that none of the foreshadowing laid out in the first half will be used, and the ending could easily have been lifted from a different novel and just had familiar names plugged in.

Author also just drops the end on a cliffhanger and leaves a note that I can best sum up as, "I dont care, the ending is whatever you want it to be."

And as with most QI acquisitions the translation quality after the change is still readable as english, but you can tell that they were definitely unmotivated as the name of a character could be translated in 2-3 different ways within 1 chapter. <<less

If I have to say dislike or like then I'd say that I liked this but only until towards the end. Then it's just kind of a massive mind f*** and the story goes to crap to the extent even the author just didn't feel like writing anymore. I don't regret reading it because I quite liked the main character and a lot of his friends. The story was quite engaging too.

However I don't think I'll be reading anything else by this author. Unless it's an already completed story I... more>> wouldn't trust this author to write the story all the way to the end. The author's excuses for not finishing things off really feels like an "well I'm sick of this already this seems like a good place to end things.... lol trolled you..." That sort of ending feeling. <<less

I read this novel hoping that it'd be a good one because the chapter count is quite low compared to most cultivation novels which spans more than 800 to 1000++ chapters and this has 4+ rating but the rating is clearly not updated and most of the reviews are based on early chapters

Decent novel 3 stars novel but bad decision by the author towards the end making it become 2 stars. You can see clearly the author is out of idea around 20 chapters before the ending and began to... more>> write some crazy stuffs combining stories from around the world about myth, religion, etc. After that, the ending is rubbish because the author don't want to write anymore after that writer's block. You are hoping for romance? No conclusion whatsoever. You are hoping for a satisfying all around? The author just wants to screw you in the end.

There's a lot of information repetition which is annoying if you binge read this. Well this is the only subjective bad part for me but paragraph above is the bad parts objectively.

Below is my rant of the ending. It contains spoiler

Spoiler

That's not how you write an open ending, not just by abruptly cutting it out before final battle. Even if you were to write couple of chapters of battle, couple of chapters about MC romance, then proceed to kill the MC, and ended it with his kids receiving the legacy and still keep on battling is a still better open ending, although shitty, than just cut it out before final battle and tell the readers to just imagine the ending and write '1000 readers... 1000 ending' like wise sage, what a charade

fIt is a fanstic series with a deplorable ending. None the less the character develop is great the flow of the story was good. Fighting scenes are great. I am somewhat bothered by the ending (higher the expectation the greater the disappointment) but it makes me feel okay. Like..I see... lets move on with life now, I suppose it is a happy ish ending. I still would recommend it as a to read.

If I were to say where it lost points its that there are too many time skip... more>> as an excuse to explain things. Alot of the sub plots are not complete... such as...
Spoiler

Han's mother, what happened to the other planets, his love interests (lighting chick) & mother and father etc, along with meeting with the Golden family and the Golden Garden annnd I am sure theres alot more... its clear that something happened for the author to stop, and atleast he gave a ending verse and abrupt stop.

It might as well have finished with Han waking up and realised it was all a dream.

The way I see it, the moral of the story is that Evil is ongoing and the fight is eternal. The greatest sin is the inability to change.... having said that I wouldnt mind a Epilogue

and the fact that the author apparently ran out of ideas in milking this and dropping it with a damned open ending to "have the reader make up his own ideas on how it should end" is the nail through the coffin for me.

As somebody who plays Stellaris a lot and completely understands scale of the things going on in the universe of Galactic Dark Net: reading this novel literally makes my blood boil.

This novel is truly written with care and deep thoughts. Character development is good so far, although, it's shame that author doesn't include more romance between characters (I'm currently on chapter 263), while there is so much potential for it is already laid out. And of course, they story is extremely well written.

So... This story is a headache to review, but most of the views either hate or love this novel. It deserves neither. The Galactic Dark Net, as many greatly negative reviews point out, has quite the interesting premise. It is kind of like this: ... more>>
Spoiler

'Earth has recently entered into a galactic stage, and ability users, Aka espers, are the representative elite of each world. Earth avoided colonization by the skin of their teeth. but their hero, Ke Lake, has mysteriously disappeared. Meanwhile, a guy named Han discovers the existence of the dark net, and begins his rise to become a hero for not just earth, but for the entire galaxy!'

[collapse]

Yeah, boils your blood right? Well, although this premise and the ideas that follow are exceptional, certain obvious contradictions and oversights from the author make this story go from exceptional to mediocre.
Spoiler

For example, his wolf fang battalion tactic operates on the basis that his void domain nullifies all powers without the victim being aware of it. Well, the author will drop this explanation at the drop of the hat whenever it doesn't suit the main character, or the battle he is in. In fact, the author even uses the void domain as a replacement for a simultaneous signal for a couple of masters to withdraw their source energy at the same time. Then, in the very next chapter, he uses the fact that it is unnoticeable to surprise one of his enemies... Sigh.

[collapse]

Anyways, the translation is ok at times, sub-par at others, but the idea always remains clear. So its not like you will encounter issues understanding the plot, although at times you will question the infinitely numerous layers of plot armor revolving around the main character. Character development focuses mainly around important characters that often interact with the main character, while he himself remains largely unchanged. Of course, development ceases beyond this sphere of influence, besides the occasional 'oh he's such a genius' or 'wow, he's badass.' But this is typical of most Chinese novels; the story isn't necessarily worse off without good character development. Although this can lead to repetitive situations, the author avoids making the reader sick of the novel by constantly inserting new ideas, new unique elements to make the story more entertaining.

Thus, considering all that I've said, this novel deserves around 3.4 stars. It's better than average (3 stars), but the drawbacks mentioned makes this story a favorite for some, and a blight for others. As you can probably tell, I like the novel a lot, despite its obvious drawbacks. Now I'm not saying that you will necessarily like this novel, but I encourage you to try it out. You might find that it's better than you originally thought! <<less

It has a good beginning, with some original ideas and a hard working MC, in the first chapters.
However it was all for nothing, he got a op power too fast, not really interesting development as everybody knows about his power, and his power is not that much op as the author suggests. The author is trying too hard with this, chewing more than he can eat, with characters that do not follow his own description of the world they live in.

I didn't know what the story was really about after reading the synopsis. I was mostly just looking for something to read while waiting for more chapters from my usual novels to come out. Boy am I glad I stumbled on this novel!

It is really, really good and entertaining. It's sorta like The Incredibles but galactic in size, with a MC whose main power is negating all these other super heroes powers lol. Imagine the trolling he could do >.> I also really like the MC, he's a really... more>> likeable, humble, and hardworking guy. He just wants to help out now that he has the power to do so. This story is a must try for anyone bored of the usual affairs in xianxia/xuanhuan, in-fighting, immature MC and the whole charade. Dark, Mature (Story does not portray MC as savior from all evils, but that evil is human nature and all you can do is save yourself and your home) and has a slight feel good vibe (of a united earth)

This novel really makes me feel, lucky I’ve been searching for a super hero tale all over the net and I found one on a site that usually only shows cultivation novels or jp junk.

This novel starts off with the potential to massive in scale–in terms of potential chapters and I look forward however much may come.

Edit: I've gotten far enough into this novel now to have a better understanding of it and it's a complete disappointment. It fails to do something that should be considered sacred to action novels........ more>> it conveys each and every fight in a vague over-view format, so instead of getting joint locks and punches, we get 'team china engages team 'whatever' and obliterates them using a pincer attack', I cannot support this kind of action novel-a novel that fails at the basics. The author should have done a story about tanks if he wanted to write a story about tactics, 1.2/5. <<less
