“Tomorrow morning, postpone all the meetings. At 9 o’clock, follow me to the civil administration office to receive the license.”
On the first day of work, she already encountered an overbearing president that is forcing her to receive the license. Should she resist or obey?
At night, a certain someone leans on the edge of the door, saying in a light and lazy manner: “Madam, I want to turn off the lights. Are you sure you want to go to sleep wrapped like a steamed dumpling while holding a knife?”
“Either that or you can go out to sleep!”
“Impossible, this is my home!”
“During the day, you transferred the house to me. So now it’s my home!”

The first main couple were quite interesting and featured a male lead with a deep dark and gloomy past, whereas the heroine was the typical family bullied Cinderella type. How they hook up and get married is quite fast, but the romance and action was quite entertaining. As for the other couples of this generation, the romantic couples provide a nice variety of stereotypes. From a genius doctor chasing his ex-girlfriend over a decade long, to a brother and adopted sister love, and a narcissistic bastard and a cold blooded assassin. There's a lot of intrigue and mystery regarding Jing Yichen's past and even the heroine's mother's death. Everything gets resolved and all the couples get their happy endings in this generation.
The next generation romance focuses mostly on Jing Yichen's family line of his 2 children and their cousin, along with some random couples. The romance here was a varied as the previous generation, however, they didn't really have the same emotional intensity. All the romance was a bit on the mediocre side.
Overall, all the romance was just a bit on the mediocre side. Some potential romances for some side characters weren't fully given a conclusion so sometimes the story seemed a bit on the choppy side. The romance was often times very abrupt as well. The story lines were sometimes to unbelievable even for a contemporary fiction. Some parts had their moments and for the most part it kept me interested enough to finish reading all the way to the end.
The finale was a bit haphazard, I would have thought the author would write a sweeter and more heartfelt ending, but it seemed like the author just wanted to complete all the couples and end the story as soon as possible.
All the main couples end in happy ending and all the mysteries get resolved.
MC will fight! She's got a sharp tongue and a clever mind. I wish I can keep calm while scolding people like she does. She's definitely not an empty vase.
There are more than 1 "good" female characters!! Let's be honest, who here is disappointed when all other female characters introduced into a story are horrible people that only serve to exalt the main character? I was sooo damn happy that she has a best friend who is a woman! And the BF sounds super cute!
Writing and pacing are good. Translations are also good.
Typical "you don't know you're beautiful, that's what makes you beautiful" song and dance (yes, I just OneDirectioned this review).
Typical "cold, blackbellied handsome man falls for beauty because she's different or something like that" routine.
Typical "white lotus female relative steals fiancee, heartless mother or father figure schemes against protagonist" drama.

- Step-mother pours boiling water on her face. FL pours an entire kettle-full of water on her step-mother.
You would go to jail for that. There is no way to justify that as reasonable self defence. Don't go starry-eyed thinking that the FL can finally defend herself - question why you think it is acceptable for anyone to pour boiling water on someone. From then on it just seems to drag on in a series of repetitive and never-ending schemes and tricks and you-did-this-so-I'm-gonna-do-that.I just don't like how he forced her to marry him. He is also easily jealous and values his wife more than anything in his life, be it his company, family or life. He has a very sad past and I really don't like his family especially his grandmother. She's the reason why he has a scum half brother that he has to deal with everyday because she didn't want to abort a child from a mistress that is a boy.
She keeps visiting her family even though she knows that they don't mean well and every time, she ends up either injured or emotionally drained, but she keeps going back. I despise the way she spends so much time in the past trying to avenge her dead mother but it literally has no use. She should just leave her family and let them suffer by themselves but as I said before she acts like she has only 3 brain cells. Still like her tho, she's kind and pure hearted.
I like her and I feel very sad for her because she can't be with the man she loves because she has ovarian cancer and is probably infertile. Her character is very outgoing and cheerful and I really love her. She's also the FL's matchmaker and was the one who brought the FL and ML together.
He is also very pitiful because the woman he loves has ovarian cancer and doesn't want to be with him because she cares about him. But he is also like the ML in that he is very forceful with her (FL's best friend.) and even one time forces her to sleep with him. (I'm not sure if I want to call it r*pe because she complies later but I guess you can call it r*pe)
The main male villain is the ML's half brother. He is what the book describes as a love child meaning he was born out of wedlock. His mother shows up at the family door with a big belly and the ML's mother is too shocked and dies at some point. Due to that, ML's father feels very guilty because he apparently loved his wife but now he has another child so he marries the other woman and the Jing Yiran (main male villain) becomes legitimate. I don't really understand this part well, because the book states the the Jing Yiran mother used under handed tricks to get pregnant which suggests that the ML's dad was drugged. It doesn't matter that the Jing Yiran has now become legitimate because the ML inherits everything while Jing Yiran just gets the family name and the title Second Master. The Jing Yiran is very bitter about his position in his family because his father doesn't love him, his mother only cares about money and no matter how hard he tries, he is always inferior to his half brother. As revenge he sets his eyes on his sister-in-law and unknowingly falls for her.
There are two MFVs in this story, namely the FL's half sister, Shuangguan Rouxue, also a love child, and Tang Yun, the ML's saviour. I'm not sure if Tang Yun counts as a MFV because right now she's been sent back abroad but I think she'll be back. Shuangguan Rouxue is a green tea bit*h and I hate her to the core. She is very vicious and seems to have an obsession with wanting to sleep with her brother in laws. She deserves everything that is coming to her because just for the sake of power she is willing to disregard anything and everything, including her own child. Tang Yun on the other hand is like an annoying c*ckroach. She saved the ML's life once and now thinks that she deserves the world because of it. The ML is also very reluctant to make her suffer because she saved his life once and he's trying to repay her but she steps over the line every single time.
The violence. There is so much stabbing and killing that just becomes ignored. The ML bombs three buildings at one point and everyone is okay with it. He even shoots ups multiple places and no one says anything and they just cower. The FL also forces her father and stepmother to commit su*cide but she still stabs her step mother before she dies which make me wonder where she got the courage to stab people. The Jing Family are like gods in that city and even the law has to bend to them which makes no sense at all.
Jing Yi Ran is starting to get on my nerves. He is so obssessed with the MC. In an unhealthy way too.
This man needs to be sent to a mental institution. ASAP. Too bad, most of his family isn’t aware that they are harboring a psycho in their house.
