I don't know how to feel about this story. I somewhat understand the Male MC's POV. But it's rare that I come across a story where
Spoiler

I dislike the FL so very very much. Every other female character introduced is better than her. Tbf to her though, what the MC did in the beginning was unforgivable but they should now just move on

Translation is superb, and is quite consistent

Fresh romcom story based on misunderstanding. Sometimes I felt annoyed with MC's behavior (low self-confidence, always loathing himself and less motivated to chase his Heroine.

But again, I can't blame him felt inferior to stand chance with beautiful Heroine.

Best part of it is Heroine begin to miss MC's attention, with somewhat tsundere (I usually don't like tsundere type). She still struggle with her own feeling and reckless to boot (act first, then think) and said something mean to MC to cover her blunder

I've been reading the LN and Manga and so far I really like this, although my ultimate score will depend on how the author decides to resolve the conflict.

Basically, the MC has spent over two years fawning over the girl of his dreams, and she rejects him repeatedly. And then one day, he decides to take her at face value - Just like the feminists want, no means no - and walk away.

I'm not sure how almost getting hit by a soccer ball turns him onto the path of keeping... more>> a stoic heart, but he is suddenly able to, as the manospherists might say, "maintain frame, " i.e. Not freak out and get embarrassed over any interaction with women, doesn't go skirt-chasing, just starts treating them as normally as he would any other person.

This mentality also snaps the FMC out of HER delusions, because she's had this guy orbiting her for years without appreciating him or responding to his interest positively. And suddenly, the loss of her unearned privilege of a man simping for her makes her feel upset. But he's already walked away, so if she wants him, she'll have to do the chasing now.

I'll give this story a 5/5 if ultimately he moves on from her - like he should - and finds a woman who will actually appreciate him more. I will reduce my score if they end up together, which they probably will. I'll also reduce my score if he continues to have such a negative impression of himself. What he needs are some guy friends who can pull him out of his funk, hit the gym together, laugh at their troubles and focus on improving themselves, not trying to win over the fickle hearts of girls.

In the real world, the simp never gets the girl. He just gets his heart broken over and over each time he loves a woman more than she loves him. She needs to put in the work, too. Like if you go to kiss a girl for the first time, never just kiss her. Lean in for a kiss, go halfway, and then wait, so she knows you want to kiss, but make her come the rest of the way toward you. Don't let her be a passive partner in any relationship, whether it's as friends or more. You're worth more than that, men. <<less

I just want to comment on this since I've seen a lot of reviews pointing out supposed issues with this novel that are objectively true out of context. If you understand how the reltionship changed between the MC and FMC, you'll know that the MC hitting on the FMC while she gives him a seemingly toxic comeback, is just banter that has been going on for 2 years. When the MC has a change in mindset and doesn't take it as banter, yeah the FMC is gonna be confused. Their... more>> template for banter may be unrealistic, but if you're reading these kinds of novels, you should be flexable enough for something this minor.

And if you think this progresses too slowly, these 6 volumes have covered only like 6 or so months and the MC spends a lot of that time developing relationships with other characters during that time.

I recommend giving the first volume a try and if you don't like the style of the writing or find tsundere reactions annoying asf. Just drop it, it's not for you. And if you don't understand the characters, then figure it out or drop it. Don't sh*t on it cause you don't get it.

Personally, I find the characters' reactions acceptable for a LN with the way the characters and relationships are developed. You can also understand the MC pretty well with so many of his thoughts described (also instead of the MC being dense, I think of it more as sticking to his core beliefs and he will reason his way to that belief every time).

So again, please don't rate LNs based off your ignorance or if it doesn't meet your exact outline of "must be this to be good". <<less

Having read the manga, I found out there was a light novel so I checked it out. It's rather impressive how 1:1 the adaptation is, I could almost see the panels while reading. I will be giving this review coming from that perspective as a manga reader. One thing I'll say first is that it's quite hard to relate to the MC's thoughts without the visuals to back it up. On paper, the main girl is really quite violent and hard to deal with. But as superficial as it is,... more>> having good looks does make everything she does justified in the manga, since I mean let's be real, cute is justice. While some goodwill from the manga did let me read this far, eventually I could not really handle the MC's repetitive fawning in his head anymore. I got hooked into the story with how sensible of a realization it was for him to step back and grow the distance, which was really relatable as someone who also used to like someone who was totally out of my league. That being said, the main girl here is not someone who I would've put up with for as long as the MC did no matter how cute she was. That's especially since it's not like there weren't any other girls who showed interest in him. The novel does a bad job convincing that the main girl was someone who was as deserving as what the MC treats her to be. Still though, I quite like the story well enough that I definitely would've read it just fine in manga form, especially with less monologue. It's just really tedious to read in text form. That's why I'm quite excited for the anime that's been announced, I am surely looking forward to that whenever it comes out. <<less

I still cannot drop this series even if I don't like it.

Why? Because MC's feelings resonate so much with a person who cannot get his love reciprocated.

there's the common troupe that the MC is very skilled and is doing everything for his love's happiness and it's frustrating to see that nobody is willing to step forward.

Read at your peril.

If your expecting a sigma male moment where the dude who got rejected would reject back the girl he's pursuing then sorry to disappoint you.

This story isn't just some cheap revenge story. It's a fun romance/slice of life story. Focusing more on MC coming to terms with how creppy he acts back then. Making their unbalanced and unhealthy relationship back then to normal level.

I understand that this is a slow romance story, but there should be progress in this regard, especially for the FMC.
FMC has friends who are close to him, but for some reason they don't give suggestions to him, which is where a friend will say as a supporter, do everything for his friend and try to keep other people away who try to approach FMC, but it doesn't seem like it, his friend looks preoccupied with his own world and forget about FMC trying to get closer to MC.

and also I understand that our MC, late for youth growth,
but is it really that s*upid in late adolescent growth?
I don't think so, MC should be aware of that small thing, but he was made to turn a blind eye, moreover he has an older sister, which FMC should be able to use to ask questions and try to pursue his love for MC.

I know how it feels to be rejected over and over again by the same person or not, but it's impossible not to notice that little thing, it's too monologue.

It's a pretty good read but can get slow at times. Often things happen that does not move the plot at all. Reading MCs self-deprecating monologues can be super depressing. He has massive inferiority complex and this gets in the way of his development as a person. While half of this is because of the people around him including his family, he is also partially at fault.

Spoiler

He spent most of his middle school simping and being a general pest to this tsundere who was kind to him like twice. His behavior towards her used to almost border that of a stalker. He, who is not an ikemen, was basically trying to do ikemen things straight out of shoujo novels lol. Any other shallow girl would have reported him to the authorities since he is not hot. But the FL being a kind person just tolerated his incessant pestering and romantic advances despite constant rejection. This continues up until high school resulting her having next no friends thanks to him always hogging her. This is where the story begins with MC suddenly realizing she is way out of his league and starts behaving like a normal person. But as a result he also takes massive damage to his ego as a human being, spiraling into a torrent of inferiority complex. And the biggest culprits who inflicts more damage to his already broken ego are his sister and the tomboy best friend of the FL. The sister eventually comes around but the tomboy remained a bit*h up until now with her insulting the MC every chance she gets. No mistake or blunder of his will get unpunished by her, sometimes he will get made fun of just for existing. How can some readers want him to end up with her instead of FL is beyond me, unless they simply have a hate boner for tsuderes.

[collapse]

With MC waking up from his fever dream and leaving the FL alone, she also gets some time to somewhat sort out her feelings for him without him being a general annoyance by her side all the time. She begins to reevaluate what he means to her as someone of the opposite gender. This leads to many honestly sweet and healing moments between the two. They are stepping toward the right direction albeit slowly. FL needs to sort out her feelings for him further and be more honest, while MC needs to stop worshiping the ground she stepped on and treat her like an equal which she wishes for, before they can be together for real. But these are high hurdles for a tsundere and the Simp Emperor to overcome, so author can milk couple more volume out of this.

If you are not a fan of tsunderes, if you are looking for MC to stay hurt and miserable and push everyone around him away because they mistreated him and "karma" inflicting justice on the FL for not falling in love with the protagonist right away than this is not for you. I suggest Soafp Translations. They have many juicy stories like that, all you gotta do is pick one and let loose. Good luck. <<less

3 out of 5 stars. An average story. Not that really interesting to be honest, but it wasn't bad enough to merit only 2 stars.

The premise is simple enough. Persistent guy badgers a girl he likes wholeheartedly, confesses, gets rejected and distances himself from her. Now, the girl, suddenly without him by her side, gets uncomfortable, lonely and jealous when she sees him with other girls. Simple enough.

The simplicity hurts the story though since even before you finish reading it, you know how it's going to end. There's also no... more>> twist to keep you engaged. Everything about the plot is dry and uninspired.

The main character was written to be some honest schmuck that raves about his crush, idolizing her very being. Even when he interacts with other girls, he remains loyal to her in his heart of hearts. While this is probably an admirable trait if you take it as him being steadfast, it also makes him pathetic and one-dimensional.

This story is not a harem story, so any cute girl the protagonist meets will never be the girl he ends up with. So, the whole time you're reading, you're thinking, "When are they going to hook up? They obviously like each other? Why are they dragging things out pointlessly? This novel should only be one volume long at most."

The dialogue between the characters is at least dynamic and well-written/well-translated.

There was some deep traumatic backstory behind the main protagonist that the first volume floated around, but honestly, the author didn't touch enough of it. The dude got rejected in the past pretty harshly. He has a harsh self-image and strict standards for himself. He worships Natsukawa for some reason now. Big whoop.

The author tried to hype up the protagonist as some kind of oddball that was different from the rest of the students with lines like "He looked at me utterly bored" or something like that. But the protagonist didn't seem all that interesting of a character. I found myself not caring about him at all. I honestly have no idea why he's obsessed with Natsukawa and I don't care. Volume 1 of the novel ends abruptly, which is probably something of a cut from when it was a web novel.

Even the author in the afterword didn't seem to have a clear idea of what goal they had when they started writing this story when it was a web novel. It's not a bad story, since the content is something to chew on, but it's nothing you want to go out of your way to read.

It's boring okay. I expected too much out of it and came out of the experience, sad with the time I put into reading it.

That said, I wouldn't call it bad. Just boring. <<less

I hate reviewers here its either 1 or 5, this story aint that or that

People 5/5 MC is a clown so antagonism against him is ok FMC is a poor misguided sheep, its normal relationship between sister and brother

People 1/1 Poor MC getting pummeled + he is a moron, FMC narcissistic B, Sister toxic waste

Wrong, MC is a normal guy with some trauma and right after trauma he got another girl but this time he decided to move forward and became a clown who never gives up right until the... more>> start of the series where he suddenly snaps. I agree his clown charade made people act accordingly but he was mostly like that towards his love.

Right from the start he explained his stance to FMC I dont care how dull or emotionally dumb you are he said everything to her point blank so her jumbled reaction towards his sudden change are unwarranted since he had a serious conversation, at that age people should understand. The problem I find that he is not moving on but rather becomes an idol forshiper I have peraonal dislike for people like that.

FMC I heard in her defence - sheltered, emotionally immature and etc., Mind you women tend to grow up faster than guys. Next we have a problem of her not comprehending his last words to her and his last confession you have to be on drugs or mentally impaired not to understand what happened at the very least his actions the next day after dialogue should be clear. The constant game of pulling and pushing is okay for s*upid girls, so in that aspect I agree its plausible that some even mature women are clueless of their actions. But her pushing is harsh beyond s*upidity you have to be a bully or sad*st to push that harshly and then demand attention.

Sister well I agree that siblings fight a lot especially when they are near the age of each other. But you never in a healthy family put down your family. Normal mothers never put down their kids they have to be mentally disabled not to understand that 1st and strongest pillar of self confidence comes from the family because family usually if healthy is for life while friends, colleagues, mentors and etc. Are temporary subjects in your life.

All in all mediocre rom-com which tries to make fun of MC tries to pull him to be the one who has to do everything in order for the story to move on standard lukewarm harem rom com. Where MC has to show MC has to act and MC has to break the ICE. I'm an old guy if I get rejected I stop pursuing for a girl it may be a let down but for me I keep my dignity and time.

MC is a pitiful human being you act like a monkey then you act distant but still regard some stranger as an idol, immature even by teen standard. You can still act friendly but you should move on and find people who truly need you.

This novel is exaggerated behaviour of people who are aged 15-18 years, you cannot be this s*upid at this age and at the same time epitome of philosophy. MC after first chapter looks more like an otaku fan boy who idolises overworked, over sexualised potential s*x trafficated Idols the problem is he is not that person. FMC is academically smart which means that despite it all her brain should have analytical thinking or logic or even some introspection but she doesn't. All in all artificial garbage a fast food of novels/manga/anime, you read it if you like the genre but after reading the same horse sh&t more than 100 times it grows as tumor on you and each time you read it aches.

I wonder sometimes if authors had some love experience during those ages or are they simply copy pasting what previous 10 authors created from that genre. <<less

4 star for the writing, characters dialogue, and character development.

there's no severe femdom trait, no clairvoyance filled dialogue in which fMC read MC mind before MC even thinking.

tho some things are quite annoying.

... more>> Kaede despite being scolded by Wataru, she's still got into his privacy, and give unnecessary advice to Aika (trying to create Aika to become a dominator) *shut up, gorilla!*

Aika with her tsundere and little bit self centered judging on how she just concern about her own feeling and blame Wataru for the discomfort she felt after the rejection. But as time goes by she developed tho it's quite slow.

MC are quite simp, it might be annoying as a character, but the reason he's still stuck with her are properly explained and it's not entirely MC's fault

Spoiler

everytime Aika reject Wataru, and Wataru were down the next day. Aika will always searching/reaching for Wataru and shower him with unwanted attention. Thus make Wataru could recover fast and do the flirting again, and loop the process until it reached 10 consecutive rejections. Both of them are weird indeed

anyway, the volume 7 are done, and now waiting for the next volume. It might takes 1 or 2 years to publish, coz the WN are still on 4th or 5th chapter. <<less
