In Silver Hammer City, the infamous cyber psychopath Ning Zhuo ends up sleeping with his archenemy Shan Feibai, whom he had rescued.

On the third day, Ning Zhuo finally calmed down and retrieved the dismantled Shan Feibai from the scrapyard.

Ning Zhuo: “This won’t happen again. Or I’ll castrate you.”

Shan Feibai: “…”

Ning Zhuo: “I want you to say ‘yes.’”

Shan Feibai: “Yes.”

___

At thirteen, the young master of the Shan family, Shan Feibai, was kidnapped. Mercenary Ning Zhuo happened to pass by and, acting heroically, almost lost his life.

Three months later, Shan Feibai was disgracefully kicked out of his home.

However, he didn’t come out of it empty-handed, leaving a lifelong bite mark on Ning Zhuo’s finger.

At eighteen, Shan Feibai reappeared in Ning Zhuo’s world.

He had taken a contract to lead a team to kill Ning Zhuo.

With a bright, expectant smile, he asked, “Brother, do you still think I’m useless?”

Three days later, Ning Zhuo, barely surviving, broke Shan Feibai’s leg while injured.

In the fifth year of their mutual enmity, twenty-three-year-old Shan Feibai jokingly kissed the scar he left on Ning Zhuo’s shoulder.

Ning Zhuo gritted his teeth: “Shan, you did this on purpose, didn’t you?”

Shan Feibai laughed heartlessly: “Yes, it was on purpose.”

I don't know how this novel flew under my radar, but I'm so happy I discovered and read it. I only have one tiny complaint (that is so tiny that this is still a 5-star novel for me), which is that the structure was not what I expected after the first main mission. I thought MC would progress through 1 evil corporation with each mission, but some kind of fall to the wayside (like the futures of Interest and Dionysus World aren't really dealt with.) The main characters also complete... more>> missions more passively in the second half, or, at least, missions are completed behind-the-scenes and then explained after the fact. Spoilers for the final confrontation:

Spoiler

Rousseau also seemed to come out of left field for the final battle. I know "Rousseau" was briefly mentioned in an early chapter. It just felt odd that Haina and Panqiao seemed to be set up as the biggest bads of the mercenary world, only for corporate-affiliated mercenaries to be introduced, and, on top of that, these corporate-affiliated mercenaries are said to be more powerful than underground groups. But maybe this was just me making unfounded assumptions.

[collapse]

Also, heed the content warnings other reviewers have left. Tr*fficking, in particular, is heavily mentioned in this novel. <<less

Second time reading (wasn’t on nu yet when I first read it).

This is in my top 5 favorite danmei novels! Not sure if my review can do it justice. It takes place in a futuristic/post-apocalyptic society ruled by extreme capitalism. Technology is very advanced, with cyborgs, artificial humans, can pay a black market doctor to get a new face, etc. There are clearly divided social classes, where those at the top can do literally anything they want, while those at the bottom have absolutely nothing. It’s a story about taking... more>> revenge against those who stepped on innocent people in order to climb their way to the top, and those who were born at the top and ab*sed their privileges in very inhumane ways. The plot is riveting and well thought-out, all the events and characters’ stories are woven together in a way that’s captivating and keeps you reading.

Characters—I really like the two main characters and their dynamic with each other. They are extremely important to each other and need to be each other’s one and only—whether that’s their one and only enemy or one and only love. Love the banter, love/hate relationship, and always trying to get the upper hand on each other. Love that both can be cold and ruthless in punishing their enemies, yet also extremely compassionate and feel deeply for innocent people who are victims of the society they live in.

The side characters and villains are also great. Side characters each have very distinct quirks and personalities, and intriguing backstories for why they became the way they are. There’s a couple of side couples who each have their own dynamic as well. Villains are very exaggeratedly immoral but it works. The disturbing things they do make you really hate them and cheer when they get what’s coming to them.

One thing I thought could be done better was that
Spoiler

MC had always planned to die after carrying out his revenge plan, even after getting together with ML. ML is very upset and wants to convince MC to keep on living with him, and it feels like MC gives in too easily. Felt like that could be more drawn out and take longer for MC to realize he can live for ML instead of living for revenge.

[collapse]

Possible triggers: A couple of scenes with dubcon, but it’s always addressed after the fact and made clear that it was unacceptable behavior. And some depictions of injuries/extreme body modifications might be gruesome to some?

Overall, I love this novel a lot! Really recommend it to anyone who likes strong gong/strong shou and a satisfying revenge plot! <<less

This is genuinely so good 😭 I rarely see enemies-to-lovers trope done well, but this is a masterpiece. The dynamic between MC and ML is both healthy and unhealthy in the best way possible. Firstly, they met each other under false pretenses, (maybe) fell in love, fell out, and has been at each other's throats ever since and yet "no you cannot die by someone else's hand"!!! I am AHHHHHHH 😭😭😭 I also love the side characters and their tragic backstories and how we helped everyone get their revenge.

The... more>> world building is chef's kiss — think Night City in Cyberpunk 2077 and how tech deeply affects society, capitalism, and our relationships with one another. It's a hopeless, lawless, and sterile city where dreams go to die, and that's what makes our main crew's idealism even more precious. I actually think the world building is the best part of the novel. The writing itself is also very well done — hilarious, slightly sarcastic, well-paced, and really engaging. The author also uses very vivid concepts very well. The Justice Show in the first chapter pretty much tells us everything we need to know about the setting and how much of a farce their society is.

Anyways I will live and die by Qi Jing Nan Qu's writing and world building. *Grabs you by your throat* please read this or else!! <<less

One of my recent favorites!

I'm super impressed by the detailed world building and the intricate plot and vibrant characters that set this one apart from other novels I read recently.

Things take place in a dystopian post-apocalyptic world where people had to escape to an island around the size of Greater Tokyo (plus some extra districts). It has that super cyberpunk vibe — corruption rampant, huge corpos run everything, science and machines have progressed to human modifications, cloning, nanotech, and self-aware AI androids — with millions of people barely eking out... more>> lives under the poverty line as they are regularly destroyed like livestock by the ruling class.

The stark disparity of power between the slums and the corpos stretch wider year by year - and pollution is so heavy that the stars can't be seen at night.

I love myself an incredibly OP MC and ML duo. And enemies to lovers is also the best of course!

Spoiler

I wouldn't say this is pure enemies to lovers because they had a secret history... and ML is definitely the one who kept chasing the MC who was too clueless to realize it.

[collapse]

I really enjoyed the cast, so many beautiful and tragic backstories. The MC's schemes run deep and things are all interconnected and part of his bigger plan. One of strong parts of the novel is tying everything together beautifully.

And it's not one of those stories where MC gets everything handed to them. He never loses his roots of being a "tr*sh scum" low-level merc unqualified to even be a citizen, and fights for every inch of truth, revenge, power, he gets into his hands.

Translation was pretty good. Overall novel experience was smooth so no big issues. I'm eagerly waiting for the extras to finish! <<less

What a journey this had been. A story about revenge and all the interconnected characters, all the schemes that seemed to pile up and implode yet settle down on ashes. The horrible things people can do for what they want and their greed.

The happy ending for all those that matters really felt very deserved and full circle.

Also, love the dynamic between MC and ML and even the whole crew of side characters. Everyone felt alive and had their own backstory that tied together in the end.

Worth the binge reading.

I would give this more than 5 stars if I could.

This is in my Top 3 favourite danmei novels of all time! I wish that I could wipe this novel from my memory, just so I could read it again for the first time...

The only downside is that it's too short. I need more. Please. I need more about the side couples😭 pleaseeee

Anyways, read it. Trust me.

I don't know if I can describe in words how wonderful this novel is. Everything about it—the plot, the characters, the worldbuilding—is impeccably constructed. From beginning to end, everything was extremely well thought out and developed. The writing is phenomenal, it's so vivid that it perfectly captures the feeling of the moment. And what a rollercoaster of emotions.

Spoilers between tags

First, a friendly warning: if you're sensitive, consider carefully before reading.

This is a heavy read, covering many possible triggers, such as: extremely detailed injuries, torture, amputation, suicidal thoughts,... more>> su*cide, PTSD, kidnapping, child suffering/death, death of family members, explicit deaths, human trafficking, non-consensual human experiments, facial disfigurements, self-harm, extreme social inequality, and mentions of: pe*ophilia, prostitution, and r*pe (not among the leads). All of this combined with a lot of corruption and impunity of the elite/government.

---

Plot: It's very well structured, you can tell the novel was carefully thought out from start to finish. Everything fits together perfectly, without any plot holes or awkwardness.

I don't think the synopsis does justice to what the novel represents. When I read it, I thought it would focus entirely on an enemies-to-lovers story with a bickering couple, but that's not even 10% of the story. The focus isn't on the couple, but on the revenge the MC wants to provide to all those who sought him out. Stories of injustice and pain, with their perpetrators unpunished and basking in glory, Ning Zhuo decides to help these victims return what they truly deserve, while also seeking his own revenge. And it's SO damn satisfying.

I rarely like novel endings, but this one surprised me in a very pleasant way. It wasn't rushed, slow, or boring. Everything wrapped up beautifully, without leaving any details unfinished. We got a good farewell to all the characters. And the extras are perfect. PLEASE READ! specially the 3 from Boss Fu's past and the last one.

Writing: What fantastic writing. The way the events are described, the poetry of the angst and the revenge, the dialogues, the description of the scenarios. Oh, it's just perfect. When the novel wants to make you cry, laugh, feel anger, or tension, it succeeds. I felt truly immersed in the story.

Worldbuilding: I LOVE a good cyberpunk setting; they're rare to find, but they never disappoint. It's a classic, the dystopian society of the future has advanced both in technology and in social inequality.

I loved the divisions of the "invisible powers" that rule Silver Hammer: the police, the healthcare system, the media/entretainment network, and technology production; all corrupted and manipulated for the benefit of those at the top.

We also have the different rules of the underworld, the mercenary groups, the 'Tuner', and the black market on the side of the less fortunate.

And I LOVE the author's notes from the "Silver Hammer Daily." Seeing events and the worldbuilding itself through the media's distorted and censored lens is fantastic. Seeing the truth and then the media's flowery version is simply revolting, and it's incredibly ironic to think that this happens in real life, but we don't notice it because we're outside the reader's omniscient view. One of my favorites, from chapter 13, a slap in the face of the capitalism:

Spoiler

[Silver Hammer Daily]

Editorial: “On the Citizen System of Silver Hammer City”

Recently, there have been rumors that citizens of Silver Hammer City are classified into four levels: A, B, C, and D, with a certain seriousness attached.

"..."

Of course, resources available decrease sequentially from A to D, and there is much outcry over this perceived injustice.

This so-called “injustice” is obviously baseless.

Levels naturally exist.

From the dawn of humanity, there have been hierarchies among people. This has been eternal and unremarkable, so why be so shocked?

We live in Silver Hammer City, a rare enclave still teeming with life amidst great disaster. Our lives are tough, our future uncertain, and resources scarce. Naturally, they should be concentrated among those who contribute more.

This isn’t discrimination; it’s a way of survival.

Some citizens, who are complacent and unwilling to strive for a better job or change their living conditions, still wish to enjoy things beyond their means, such as natural milk and fruits, or “Dionysus World.” This is a shameless behavior.

We suggest these citizens, who are quick to point out class issues but never reflect on themselves, to devote more energy to self-improvement, complain less, and work harder. By stepping out of their narrow world, they might discover different beauties and opportunities.

Provided by: Interest Company

[collapse]

Ah this is sooo good.

Anyway, I recommend reading these notes, they provide interesting information about the worldbuilding, and some even offer foreshadowing.

Protagonist (Ning Zhuo) : He's cold and ruthless, yet soft-hearted toward those who deserve it. Abandoned by justice, he decides to take justice into his own hands, and along the way, he helps other souls abandoned by this corrupted world. I won't spoil his past, because reading it has its own charm.

Characters: I don't think I've ever seen a novel pay as much attention to its characters as this one. They feel alive, not tied to the plot of a novel. Many are extremely complex. From the main characters to the antagonists, they all have very well-written personalities.

There are so many characters, and I can say that each one is unique in their own way, even though they share similar perspectives and motivations.

The horrific stories of the victims' pasts are told with great care and compassion. Their stories are so captivating that I didn't even mind the several chapters devoted exclusively to this. They are infuriating and painful, but reward us in the end.

That's another thing I loved: everyone got the ending they deserved: the scoundrels suffered a terrible fate befitting their crimes, in a delicious irony, while the victims got their revenge and found peace.

Main couple and romance: finally, a true enemies-to-lovers. It's not a "oh, I hate you, you're an idiot" "and you're a spoiled brat, bleh" it's a matter of true hate and love. They harm each other for real, unafraid to drag the other's reputation through the mud, but at the same time, they don't want each other dead hehehe.

Spoiler

Maybe it doesn't count because the ML never really hated the MC? Well, in the end, he had a slight resentment, so I'll say yes. By the way, it's 'enemies' to lovers, not 'haters, ' so you can be enemies without hating to death... I guess

[collapse]

I won't go into details so as not to spoil the surprise, but they have a long and very complicated history.

Also, the romance is not the main focus of the novel, especially in the beginning. They stick together throughout the novel, have an incredible dynamic and have their bickering-flirting moments, but even so, the main focus is always on the execution of their schemes and the characters' stories. But towards latter half, the romance does take on greater importance
Spoiler

in Ning Zhuo's change of heart, as he was willing to die at the end of his grand plan.

[collapse]

And for those who love smut, I'm sorry to disappoint you, but this is full Chinese censorship. The most you'll get are a few sighs and touches, the rest is either cut out or poetic.

---

Without a doubt, one of my favorite novels of all time. I have no idea how this novel isn't even mentioned anywhere, it's such a gem, definitely deserves much more recognition!

I highly recommend it to lovers of dystopia, great schemes, and angst. I guarantee you'll find plenty of it here to satisfy you. <<less

This novel could have been excellent... if not for the ending and details I disliked.

Why could it have been excellent ? What did I like ?

1. The worldbuilding

It's literally the first time I've read a cyberpunk novel, with its blend of science fiction and dystopian elements; and it was fascinating. I loved the hierarchy, the explanation of how the world (and the island called Silver Hammer) ended up that way, the corruption within the White Shield police force, the different districts, and the realistic portrayal of the suffering endured by... more>> ordinary people. The author built a world that felt believable.

2 The romantic chemistry

Shen Feibei and Ning Zhuo have amazing chemistry, largely because the main character (MC) is just as strong, if not stronger, than the male lead (ML).

Their connection also stems from their contrasting personalities and pasts: one is wild and determined, the other a kind of detached genius. Their dynamic felt alive and genuine, especially in the early parts of the story.

3 The characters' personalities

I appreciated that there was just the right number of side characters, and each one had a distinct, memorable personality, from the tsundere Jin Xueshen to the mysterious yet kind Boss Fu, and my personal favorite, Lin Qin, the clever agent who felt closest to the MC besides the ML. He gave off a "little brother" vibe that made their interactions particularly endearing.

Now, what I didn't like:

1. The ending and the revenge plot

There are several things I just didn't understand.

Spoiler

First of all, why did it take Ning Zhuo more than ten years to carry out his plan? We follow all of his strategies, but I still can't see what part of his revenge actually required that much time.

And while I get him avenging his friends and everything, it sometimes felt like his personal goals were sidelined in favor of their storylines.

Also, He ultimately got his revenge, yes, but the death of his main enemy felt weak. Sure, Ning Zhuo destroyed him socially and psychologically, and I really like it, but we never even saw the villain break down or die. It was... anticlimactic.

Even Ning Zhuo himself seemed strangely indifferent after achieving what he'd spent years preparing for.

--

And then there's the boat plot.

Yes, I know Silver Hammer is a dark and corrupt place, but the idea that they suddenly built another boat and managed to escape, when no one else ever could, felt incredibly superficial and unrealistic. It was too easy. I would have preferred an ending where they stayed in a more stable situation, with their enemies defeated and only a distant hope of escape someday. As written, it just felt dreamlike and unbelievable.

[collapse]

2. The romance pacing

Even though I liked both main characters and their chemistry, the rhythm of their romance didn't work for me.

I still didn't understand why they "hated" each other for so long or why neither of them tried to bridge the gap sooner. Similarly, Ning Zhuo seemed to fall for Shen Feibei too easily.

Spoiler

Also, their first time together was also awkward, it didn't feel romantic, almost like a r*pe, and the chemistry between them seemed to somehow fade afterward.

[collapse]

Moreover, once they became a couple, their relationship also took a backseat to the main plot, which was disappointing.

3. The MC's characterization

It didn't bother me that his looks were frequently mentioned, but it did annoy me that every new character treated him like some kind of pretty plaything, a "rabbit" or a "whore", even though he's literally one of the most dangerous figures in the underworld.

Wouldn't they be terrified of retaliation ? It felt unrealistic and reinforced the cliché that the MC is "beautiful but submissive, " which completely contradicts his actual strength and status. <<less

What to say? This novel is a masterpiece.

PLOT IS 10000000/10

Characters are 1000000/10

... more>> World build-up is 9999999/10

Translation is 99999/10

Everything is this novel is amazingly well constructed. Nothing falls out of place in this story, all [good] characters are loveable and you bond with them all. ALL of them are 3D characters, even the villains.

This world is ruthless, evil, disgustingly so. Our characters don't have much choice, to fit-in in this grotesque world, they gotta abide by the rules and become emotionless, cold and indifferent killing machines. Our main character is just like that, at least that's what he wants us to believe...

But in truth, he's... WOW. No words. Ning Zhuo's simply outwordly. Scheming, cunning, vile when needed, but with a heart of gold; and it is in the right place THROUGHOUT the novel. He's doing whatever it takes to avenge and protect his loved ones. There's no way you cannot love him.

Our ML is Shan Feibai. He's a sly fox. His scheming doest not fall short to Ning Zhuo's, but his main goal is very simple: get his so called enemy's heart to belong solemnly to him. And for that he'll do anything and everything. There's no way you won't fall in love with this cub either.

They're made for each other, plain and simple. They're both a little crazy, but they care so much for everyone and they try so hard to avange and protect them. They [Haina and Panqiao] truly are a big family. I'm super glad we got a VERY HAPPY ENDING for all of them~!

All of Haina and Panqiao deserves the best. They've suffered enough in Silver Hammer City. Now they've got their fairy tale ending. With Ning-ning and Xiao Bai upfront, looking out for them and building them a whole new life!

Just read it, you won't regreat it. The plot is splendid! No loose ends, everyone who deserves to die will die, everyone who deserves to suffer will suffer. Its gratifying, specially since we sometimes gets novels where the true villains die too quickly, without suffering badly enough. It doesn't happen here. This novel is a magnificent read.

AH! One thing that did annoyed me though was the sudden name changes? Like, sometimes our Xiao Bai would be called Dan Feibai instead of Shan Feibai; there were others but I forgot. Even so, it was pretty annoying. But the translation is great otherwise! <<less

This novel explores a post apocalyptic dystopian world which mirrors the condition of our own in the current environmental, financial and political climate. At every point of the heinous crimes committed by the elite in this novel, I couldn't help but think of how eerily similar our world would look like if we had the technological advancements as this novel has. With this alone, I hope everyone gives this novel a try, if not for a danmei's sake, but to see how late we are to a revolution needed in... more>> our own world.

The characters in this novel are all fleshed out and well written. They all have their own goals, interests and revenge, and every one who needs one, receives one. The found family aspect is fantastic and I think I teared up towards the end, watching them carve a family out of misfits. The cp is insane but they are made for each other. The romance is a little subdued, but lord are they obsessed with each other.

Some of the scientific explanations are so well thought out it's really interesting to see! There is a sense of idealism, and as a physicist I can say some of the plans the characters successfully conducted would not work in real life, but honestly they are so entertaining I will ignore the slight idealistic impression for the enjoyment of the plot.

The best aspect of this novel is the revenge, and all the steps leading up to it. From the very beginning of the novel the MC plants the seeds to his and his teammates' various revenge plots, and all of them coalesce beautifully in the end. All the evil-doers receive punishment in the most satisfying way possible. The world isn't fixed, the bad still hold onto the elite circles, but what is important is that MC wanted revenge. Not to fix the system entirely. He's sown the seeds for change, and the end remains hopeful for the masses.

The translation is edited MTL, so there are a few instances of names being weird and genders being swapped. But it doesn't take you completely out of the novel. It's alright, honestly.

All in all, a fantastic novel. I did not expect to get a new five star read in? 2? 3 years? <<less

so I wrote this review in my notes, put it in google translate bc my English sucks, please ignore any mistakes thank u

This is the first novel I've finished in 2026, or maybe the second, I can't remember exactly. But it's literally amazing, and I highly recommend it. The story is mostly about revenge, aside from the plot and the romance. As expected from a strong story, romance isn't the main focus, but this type of story is my favorite and the one that sticks in my mind. I'm even... more>> planning to reread it next year on the same date this review is published. The novel has many side relationships, which some people find excessive, but I think they're normal. Some people see them as a weakness, which I don't understand, claiming it's unrealistic. The novel is literally science fiction. If you want something very realistic, go watch your neighbors' fights or something. Personally, I often feel closer to the side characters than the main ones because of my curiosity about something I don't know much about. Besides, the side characters in this novel are fantastic in every sense of the word. Little Apple is undoubtedly one of my favorites, along with Boss Fu. The author's storytelling and thier planning of revenge are truly remarkable. Great! I'm not usually one for detective novels, so my review might be unreliable, but this is undoubtedly a novel that deserves all the praise I'm giving it in this review.

Every part of the city is interconnected, so the events that occur involve many parties, making you feel that the world is alive and moving, just as it should be. This is something I felt strongly in this novel. The protagonists' empathy for the weak and oppressed is also a beautiful aspect of the story. They help them when they can and never cause them any harm.

Spoiler:

Spoiler

I don't understand why most people think the ML's motives are illogical. To some extent, I understand him very well. He tries to be anything—I mean anything—in the MC's life, no matter what, as long as he leaves a mark and the MC notices him under any circumstances.

So I felt their dynamic was beautiful; I have no problem with it. Maybe my taste is flawed, haha.

[collapse]

Oh, and a big spoiler!

Spoiler

I cried, without exaggeration, about three times until my face was swollen, without any exaggeration, over Boss fu. I literally can't get over how his relationship with Xiao Fang ended before it even began, how he named them both out of a desire to find home. In the end, Boss Fu get to his home, but where is Xiao Fang? I wish I could write something about them, just to myself, a happy ending like I wished, but I felt I might distort Xiao Fang's character, the very thing Boss Fu was terrified of and afraid to fix xiao fang because of. He was a human being, a living creature, a soul, and he died for just an arm. I can never get over it. I also have a simple prediction: Boss Fu values his body immensely, regardless of Xiao Fang's sacrifice or not. His features are unrecognizable, unnaturally ordinary, and easily forgotten. His existence is erased, and he has no name. He's more like a robot than a human. He learned from his mother's death as if it were just a lesson, not a trauma that shattered his life. He has no preferences, no negative or positive opinions, not even a burning desire for revenge. Xiao Fang was closer to being human than The robot, and Boss Fu, are more robotic than human, what a joke, right?

[collapse]

Anyway, I wrote this review to express how much I love Boss Fu and Xiao Fang, as well as Little Apple. I really like MC and ML, but as I said, we get more attached to the side characters because they remain an unknown aspect that we haven't explored enough.

Spoiler

Although writing Boss Fu's name is difficult, I can never forget it. I'll keep it etched in my memory so that someone else will remember him along with Xiao Fang.

[collapse]

oh also I really wanted to see little apple relationship with that man I forgot his name but I can imagine it anyway

Spoiler

But I'm really annoyed that my favorite character had such a terrible ending. At least he had a family, I think. Even if they left him, he still had the little apple.

[collapse]

actually

Spoiler

Who am I even fooling?

I can't move on—never.

How could Boss Fu, who barely had any human traits to begin with,

only discover his tiny, almost-not-even-called "favorites"

with Xiao Fang?

In the end, this homeless man finally found his home.

And just as he was about to settle forever with the one he loved,

he lost everything in a single moment—

because of a word said as a joke

(at least, that's how I see it).

Who could have imagined that Xiao Fang would give up his life

just to save Boss Fu's hand,

only because Boss Fu said he'd rather die

than use a prosthetic instead of his real hand?

His sacrifice was his own choice, and I respect it.

But Boss Fu?

What about him?

Xiao Fang was the only person close to him,

the only one he could ever call family.

I can't imagine how he lived like that for ten years.

At least back then, he had a whole family—

but then they all disappeared,

and only the little apple remained,

the one who used to call him "Papa Fu."

Even he moved to the same street where Xiao Fang once was.

Is fate calling Boss Fu

to reclaim the family he always longed for?

How will he live alone now?

Xiao Fang used to feel sad when Boss Fu talked to himself

and no one answered—

he didn't want him to be alone.

I wish their ending had been happy.

I wish it had only been a cruel, heavy joke.

I wish Xiao Fang were alive somewhere.

But I think... this is reality.

I wish there were another world

where they could be happy together,

where they could live long

until the world itself faded around them.

I wish.

The problem is, I can't imagine that other world.

It feels like I'm stepping on what Boss Fu fears most—

that his beloved Xiao Fang would be replaced,

that he wouldn't be the one he knew.

He was a human being.

How dare I distort him and imagine him differently?

I've started to fear even reading another novel.

They both deserve to be remembered,

to be mourned enough

until my heart calms,

until my conscience rests.

I don't want to forget them.

I don't want to erase their existence from my memory.

Their suffering exist,

How dare I forget and run away?
