[Short Story] [Food Writing] [Sweet Little Cake] One day Ding Sha got transmigrated into a book, with a baby of unknown parentage in her belly.

Upon closer look, the baby turned out to be the male lead from a previous angsty novel she read.

A poor little thing unloved by his parents.

So impoverished that her stomach rumbled, but armed with superb cooking skills, she transformed herself from Ding Sha into the boxed lunch beauty at the construction site.

Kung pao chicken, garlic baby bok choy, spicy pork belly, tossed noodles – she cooked up a storm.

Before the construction workers could feel the stirrings of spring in their hearts, the baby’s father suddenly appeared.

Jun, carrying a travel bag stuffed full of cash, squatted outside the door gazing longingly at Ding Sha’s slightly bulging belly.

“Wife…I’m back…”

A 1v1 sweet doting story without abuse, a light and fluffy little sweet cake, safe for consumption.

This is literally the sweetest story I've read!!!!

It's so heart breaking but peaceful at the same time, I don't even know how to explain it.

The novel starts as a traditional isekai but it becomes more than that, it changes into a cooking novel, then slice of life with child raising and finally it reaches the most beautiful resolution that had me crying tears of sadness and happiness.

If you're looking for a story with a lot of angst and conflict, this isn't it. But if you want the sweetest palate cleanser... more>> after a particularly heinous novel then this will do that and more. <<less

It's a simple story with an non-existent plot. It's more like a cooking guide with traces of slice of life.

But I liked the concept, a story about a teen couple who eloped and started their own snack store all while raising their infant son.

Both the MC and ML come from an impoverished background. They didn't become extra-ordinarily rich by the end of the novel, It's just them and their small store.

There are no antagonists, but ... more>>
Spoiler

the author did write about a brain dead female stalker. But thankfully the author came back to their senses and dealed with her in the same chapter. There were no other antagonists in the novel

About the MC
Spoiler

I think it was pretty obvious in the 3rd chapter itself, that it's her original body

Thank you for the translation! Sometimes the names are not translated properly= Sha Sha becoming Sand Sand. Or nameswaps here and there but otherwise the translation is great!

As for the story, I did enjoy reading this drama-free, fluffy story. What made me give it 5 stars was the bittersweet ending. Not all stories have such an interesting ending and I liked what the author had put in. However, I did think that the last five chapters could've been an extra story instead and I would've liked more about our main... more>> couple.

PROS:

  1. Super fluffy story with a sweet romance between the FL and ML.
  2. FL had doubts about her transmigration but author manages to write about how our FL was always Ding Sha and had to choose between the parallel worlds. She chose to stay with ML.
  3. Lots of interesting characters like Si Le, Xiao Shitou, Zhuang auntie with their own unique circumstances.
  4. Baby Ping An is cute but I wish there were more interactions with him.
CONS:

  1. Due to the many characters, they weren't all fully fleshed out. They come and go in the story. Like Le Jiayu who's gay and became friends with our FL. I would've liked to read more about him but they just dragged him into the story sometimes. Like Si Le who had an alcoholic mum and was then adopted by Zhuang auntie, we don't get a deeper storyline about that as well. It's all touch and go.
  2. I wished we had more stories about our FL and ML. It ends abruptly and goes to Xiao Ping An's POV after Chapter 69 iirc. I wanted to know more about ML learning skateboarding, about our FL cooking more dishes...
That's all really.

It's a simple sweet read just nice to pass the time. <<less

All I can say is that it’s a very heartwarming story that has made me smile. A story I’ll remember and gladly recommend to my friends and to others too. The last few chapters even made me feel quite melancholic and had me tearing up.

Not cliche. No incessant drama. No brain dead characters or villains. No s*upid misunderstandings.

Actually the first modern drama I’ve read set during the pandemic period, wasn’t quite expecting it, not like the time period was important to plot anyway.

The story has a sense of realism, and... more>> the flow of it was not to bland nor boring. It was able to hook me on as I read each chapter. How the story went was not to fast-paced nor slow-paced. How it ended did not leave me hanging but rather fulfilled to read about its contents.

A 5/5 and a guaranteed good read! Might even read it again if I feel like I want to get away from all the intense drama I’ve been reading.

Lastly, I’d also like to commend the translator and their translation. Although some parts had mistakes, it did not take away the mood as I was reading nor was it hard to understand. I’m happy that such a gem was able to be translated~ <<less

The review that follows is for the 46 chapters I’ve read and not the complete novel.

This novel showcases sweet moments of romance and care, which I found enjoyable. The story doesn't have dumb absurd characters, except for one minor mention that doesn't affect the plot much. It's interesting that the story unfolds in a recent timeline, precisely during the loosening of COVID-19 lockdowns, offering a unique setting that I didn't expect in a completed novel.

However, the book's aim to create a "food p*rn" experience through detailed food and cooking descriptions... more>> didn't quite hit the mark for me. I've read another food-focused novel that vividly brought the dishes to life, but this one fell short, lacking the captivating descriptions that truly immerse readers in the culinary world. Additionally, the subplot involving the “male lead is my son” trope doesn't contribute meaningfully to the overall storyline. The rushed pacing and underdeveloped plot left me feeling like the narrative lacked substance, making the reading experience unsatisfying. <<less

Keyword : Slice of life and heartwarming

At first, I came with the intention to read romance story, although I know that often in this kind of book the romance wont be overflowing. And it's true, it is a very wrong choice.

BUT, although I didnt get giddy romance, what I get is heartwarming. Sure the interaction doesnt focus on ML and fl, even truthfully I cant feel the time when FL fall in love with ml. But, in the end they are loving, happy, and living... more>> their life as a family of three and I start to eat dog food.

In conclusion, for slice of life and heartwarming novel, I rate it 5 from 5 star! <<less

Cute and fluffy novel, mundane and not much drama at all. Slice of life.

Spoiler

The original ML that Ding Sha gave birth to was so pitiful. I cried when he transmigrated and realized he was a loved and wanted baby—That he could have had a happy family too. I wish he had fully transmigrated into Ping An.

I ended up enjoying this novel so much.

Both the MC and ML were endearing and I liked that they were also surrounded by good people as their emotional support.

The fact that the author did not attempted to make everything complicated for no reason was an commendable.

The translator (s) also did a good job with the translation.

Great story, short and sweet. It made me cry a few times and even though it was a happy ending it felt like it ended on a bittersweet note. The translation mixes up the point of view, names, he/she several times, but otherwise it was done well. Thank you for the translation!
